One two different occasions he even connected me with other people when I was looking to buy a particular motorcycle. His shop, RnR Cycles does excellent work; I am always confident that the bike will be perfect when I pick it up. I do my own routine maintenance. But I leave big jobs to RnR. These guys are professionals. They keep a nice assortment of common maintenance fluids and other accessories. Prices are competitive. So far, they have been cheaper than online retailers on Motul fluids. They will tune bikes, do valve adjustments, replace tires, engine swaps, and pretty much anything motorcycles. They answered questions I had about my bike and valve clearance adjustment intervals plus an estimate to get it done. Very honest. I recommend them. read more

If you're looking for honesty and a man of his word, this shop and Rick are where you will still find them. Honestly, I had a mixed experience with RnR. I went to them because my buddy, David, started working there this summer. Their policy of paying as they go takes some getting used to and when they took several labor hours and work days to find and fix the problems on my bike, I felt like I was getting the runaround. I had some fiery discussions over the phone but when I spoke with Rick in-person we managed to settle them. I got my bike back and everything was good....until 10 miles later by bike wouldn't start again. This time I took my bike to Motorcycles of Dulles. They diagnosed that RnR had put on the wrong fuel filter and it had failed. But they said all the other work (replaced fuel lines, fuel pump, and fuel regulator) they did looked well done, which confirmed Rick's passionate rants about doing the job right. I believe he really cares about that. But I was justifiably upset that I had to now pay MoD for what I had already paid RnR to do. I emailed Rick/RnR and Rick called immediately. He apologized and offered to pay the MoD bill. I've never been through something like this but I suspect many shops would not do this. Rick paid the bill and my bike is running well. Yes, it would have been great if they hadn't screwed up the first time but tell me someone or some shop who has never made a mistake. These days, it's unfortunately uncommon to find someone who will ensure the job gets done well, will own up to mistakes, and set things straight without a hassle. Rick is passionate about motorcycles (he still races them himself) and cares about doing a good job for his clients. When i want my bikes fixed correctly, i take them to RnR cycles. I live an hour away, so it's not exactly convenient -- but it's well worth it to me. I've owned several bikes of different styles: 2stroke dirt, 4stroke enduro, sport, etc., and have used many shops around the northern Virginia area over the past 14 years. Most left me somewhat satisfied or disappointed. I'm VERY picky about who works on my cars and bikes if I am not the one doing it. All that said, Rick and his employees are very knowledgeable individuals. Ask questions, get to know them -- they're good people! I sometimes bring my bike in with a short timeline for the work to be done knowing this is a favor and it may not happen, but so far I have not been let down, Pricing is not cheap, but the quality is top notch. They do it right the first time. I demand top notch performance out of my bike at the track, and want to minimize my possibility of injury. With years of service being done to my bikes at RnR, we've had a few minor bumps (hey, it happens) but Rick has always taken care of me. I trust them with their recommendations for my bikes. Rick explains it out as to why he recommends something. Being fairly mechanical myself, it's nice to understand these things. I have referred friends to them on several occasions. Rotten scammers. Over a month ago I walked into their shop and asked if they could get my motorcycle to start after it sat in the garage for the winter. They charged $50 just to 'hold' the appointment. Then the day they were supposed to tow it in, they called and asked who is going to tow it in and whats wrong with it and oh yea, my bike is so old that they charge $150 per hour to work on it and I need to give them $500 up front. I told the guy that "its not right" so he says what's not right. I guess they are not too bright also!!! read more

I have only bought a few small items from RNR and got my tires changed/balanced. I haven't bought any major parts here or have had any major work done here yet, but when I need to I will definitely bring my bike to RNR. If you're looking for a showroom of parts, gear, etc. they don't have it, but they can order it. The best part about RNR is that they know what they are doing so they give you great advice and can answer any question I throw at them. I did not write a review right away, because I did not want to base my review on one visit. I did some research on RNR before I ever brought my bike there. Once I did, I know my bike has found a home.. I have a 2006 Triumph Rocket III.. It needed a little cosmetic work and tires.. So for I got new tires (It had original HARD rubber).. I put on a new windscreen, replaced a scratched tank, replaced a scratched pipe, added a sissy bar, added USB power for GPS and dash cam.. Oil change, spark plug change, Added air horn.. Some of this stuff would have been easy to do by myself.. but it is easier for me to just have Rick and his team do it... I even had them replace the right grip controls to fix a broken switch with a new one I got on ebay. Rick and his team are great. I am glad I found them. read more

Everything is great until they misdiagnose an issue and don't take ownership of it. Had my motorcycle at this shop multiple times for the same issue and they could never identify the issue correctly. After multiple attempts and money wasted ended up at a real shop to have it addressed correctly. Shop owner didn't take responsibility and stopped communicating back once he knew the shop messed up multiple times. If you want your motorcycle fixed correctly the first time this is not the shop for you. Turnaround is also very slow. Snails pace. read more

Many of their reviews were solid, which is why I have them a chance. They have kept my bike there for over a month now. When I dropped it off, they also made me do a "deposit" of $250 upfront, without even looking at the motorcycle to see what's wrong with it. Now, 4+ weeks later, still no word, no update, and I still don't know what's wrong with it. A common theme is they are unprofessional, take way too long, charge STEEP labor per hour (100+, more than my car shop), and occasionally you will receive your bike back with some damage. I'll wait until I hear back, but then I'm clearing out from there and going some place in Falls Church, VA. Absolutely absurd, like the other reviewer said, don't waste your time OR money here. After taking 4 months to replace my clutch hub and plates, R&R caused over $1500 in damage to my bike by bending the primary drive shaft when replacing the clutch hub by improperly removing it. The problem was discovered within 50miles of leaving his shop and verified by another motorcycle repair shop. When the issue was brought to Ricks attention with a request to get it fixed, he got very defensive, refused any responsibility and refused to fix the problem. Horrible customer service!!! On May 21, I discovered my bike was leaking coolant into the oil. I took out the oil filters and drained the oil as well as the coolant to confirm. There was indeed coolant in the oil so after some head banging, I did a little search on the interwebz and found that my problem was likely due to one of two issues: either the head gasket or the water pump shaft seal. To diagnose which one it is, you need to do a leak down test. I don't have the equipment to do a leak down test, I was about to go on vacation at the time so I just wanted it fixed and a reputable shop seemed like the way to go. Enter RNR. Now I think it's important to note why I took it to RnR and what my expectations were at this point. I took it to RnR because I expected that it would be done right. For the labor rate they charge, I certainly could have taken it to a dealer; however, I will gladly pay to have it done correctly the first time and RNR had a reputation for doing good work and standing behind it. So when I brought it in, I specifically mentioned both the head gasket and water pump shaft seal to Rick. Rick immediately dismissed the water pump shaft seal and told me that wasn't possible, but that they would look into it. I figured, what do I know, I guess he knows what he's talking about and so at this point, I assumed it could only be the head gasket. I asked if we could go ahead and order the parts right then, since obviously it could only be the head gasket given what Rick had told me. Rick replied that they should take a look at it first and make sure it was indeed the head gasket. On the 25th, I heard it had been diagnosed, it was indeed the head gasket. I called Ali, authorized all the optional work and requested that the parts get shipped overnight so that the bike could get done by the end of the week. On the 28th, I discovered that the parts hadn't even been ordered yet and there was other work in front of my bike and it would not be done before my annual Deal's Gap Trip that weekend. At that point, I asked that the rush shipping and optional work not be done, as the bike wasn't going to be done in time for my trip and I now needed to buy another motorcycle. I finally picked my bike up on 6/13, 22 days after it I gave it to RNR. The total bill was $1,308.18. I rode the bike to work a few times and while in hindsight, it did run a little hot, it was the middle of summer in DC and I didn't think much of it, as surely I imagined that RNR had tested it thoroughly before giving it back to me. I didn't ride it all that much, as we were preparing for a cross country move, but I did notice that it was difficult to shift and upon checking the coolant resevoir, I discovered it was empty. Again, giving RNR the benefit of the doubt and assuming it just wasn't bled, I filled up the reservoir, loaded it on the truck and drove across the country to CO. As I had some time to think about it, I decided that I should test it more thoroughly upon arriving and, after we returned our truck, I made it a priority to test it out. A 45 minute ride was all that it took to empty the coolant reservoir and increase the oil level. The bike was still leaking coolant into the oil. I called Rick, explained the situation and he asked me to take the motor out and ship it to him. I declined, given that I had already paid him $1,300 to fix it and told him I would take it to a reputable KTM shop. He agreed that a refund may be in order. I took the bike to Elite KTM in Loveland, CO. When I talked to the tech there and explained the history of the issue, it did concern me that he mentioned he had never seen a head gasket go on one of these bikes and he suspected the water pump shaft seal immediately. After getting the bike back, another $350 later, there are two important takeaways from the ticket: 1. RnR did not fix the problem. As the Elite tech documented on the receipt, "large amounts of coolant in oil, oil filter deformed from coolant, coolant level down half way in radiator." 2. The problem was the water pump shaft seal, confirmed by the 1000+mi I've put on the bike in the past couple of days. While it does annoy me that the actual cause of the problem was dismissed after I explicitly suggested it when I brought the bike in to RnR, I understand that people make mistakes just like I do and everyone else out there; however, at the end of the day, when I got my bike back from RnR, I was no better off than when I took it in. Fine, kind of annoying, but I'm sure I can get a refund since it's completely obvious RNR screwed up and ultimately the problem was a lot less serious so that's good, right? Wrong. I e-mailed Rick and it was at this point that Rick started lying. Ultimately I paid $1,660 for a $350 problem because Rick Beggs is an unethical and dishonest person. I called RnR on Thursday afternoon. My Versys blew a fork seal and the valves needed to get done before I put it away while I go on vacation. I told Rick that I needed to get the bike back by Tuesday at the latest. As I was leaving for Colorado Wednesday. We planned on doing some suspension work and parts had to be ordered. I brought the bike in Friday evening. Long story short, we opted out of said suspension work because the spring rates weren't exactly right (Had this conversation Saturday evening as they were closing) Rick called me Monday morning (RnR is closed on Mondays) saying that the bike was finished late last night (they are also closed on Sundays) and he would open up the shop for me to come pick it up because of my time crunch. If this isn't customer service I don't know what is. My bike was worked on when the shop was closed and the owner came in personally to open up and hand me the keys. This is the first time in my riding career that I have taken a motorcycle into a shop. I prefer to do it myself and have for the last 6 years. But I can honestly say this was a pleasant experience. RnR's rates are spot on if not cheaper than most places around, and they know their motorwork which is rare. It doesn't get much better than this. They are track junkies, which makes for a great and knowledgeable shop. read more

I have an old 81' Honda CB 650 custom. The guys at RNR brought the prehistoric bike back to the 21st century, it runs great and they really showed how much quality work they can get done when given the proper amount of time. I am not saying it took them a week to do or anything but they were informative, professional, and very up-front about everything the job ran into. Prices were fair, they work with you, as well as offering good customer service i.e. they picked up my bike when it was not running and then helped me load it back up so I could get back to riding as soon as possible. Wow, what a mistake to take my 2002 Yamaha VStar 1100 to these guys. This VStar is known for having the starter clutch break. I thought I would get great work from this shop as they are into performance bikes and racing. The bike ran, and damn good, btw, before the starter went. After having me pay upfront for the parts, a month later I didn't hear anything. It turns out they put it back together, and it ran like crap. They must have messed up the timing as the next thing I know, they bent a exhaust valve, broke a keyway, and had to replace all that. in putting it back together, they also broke the new intake manifold I had for the KJS carb I installed. They had to replace that. Next I hear the bike will start, run ok at idle, but throttle makes it choke and want to die. Can you say manifold leak? This was 3 months after bringing in the bike. And no sense of urgency - we'll have to put your bike back in the repair queue. By now, the summer is fall, Not gonna ride this year! I have had the bike taken to Fairfax Cycle, and the diagnosis is that trying to repair the engine is not really worth it. Crank and flywheel is now toast! Beware, no communication and BS diagnosis from RNR. $750 for starter parts, and now ~$2200 for ebay engine and install. When the whole job was supposed to be $1200. OH, and five stars for Fairfax Cycle!! read more

They had my bike over three weeks to replace two bearings, two tires, and a gasket. They never give you updates on your bikes progress and so one must call or text them everyday to find out. $100 a hour for service fees, I would've excepted some sort of customer service to go with that steep price tag. Never again will I take my bike to them for anything and I'll rent a press for my bearing next time. By the time I was able to pick up my bike they had it for 6 weeks and I only received two texts on its progress and you can't tell anything was completed. I fount RnR on the web and visited them. They didn't seem very organized but I accredited that to being a small company. I had it all set up to get new shocks, lower my bike, change the forward controls to mid forward controls, and hook up power to run and hold my sell phone. It took a week and two phone calls to get a copy of the invoice for the work I was to have done. Finally, I receive an invoice only after I didn't show up to have the work done. No quote? No pay! The invoice was $166 above the verbal quote. After talking to the owner via text (He was on vacation). He accidentally sent me a text he meant for the shops eyes only. It blamed the $166 mix up on an employee. I sent a text back to him explaining that it was not the employee that gave me the quote but Rick himself, the owner of the company. I also asked it he would fix the invoice to the price I was quoted. He said he couldn't do it until he was back from vacation seven days later. I feel as though because I am a woman they thought they could pull a fast one on me, or do they just treat all of their customers like that?? Hit and miss... I've had minor work done, usually just mounting and balancing tires with the wheels already off the bike. Last time I was in they said I could pick it up after lunch. After killing an hour at walmart and eating McDonalds (which I hate) I went to pick up my wheel. The new tire and wheel with old tire are in the exact same place in the office where I left them. I'm told there was a mix-up with the technician. So I get to make another trip in 5pm traffic to pick it up. They guy says "I gave you a 5% discount..." Perfect. I blow an hour of my time and get $1.06 back....nice. The right thing would have been to say "Sorry, we blew it. How about if I drop the wheel off at your office or home later today?" Not a huge deal, but if they're going to run the business like a hobby, I'm not sure how much they'll be able to grow and attract new customers. read more

I have been a regular customer of RnR for the last couple of years. I can bring my bikes into him knowing that Rick will not perform work unless it's required. Customer services has always been an A+ The last repair was a new clutch for my bike and I was told that the OEM parts would take 7-10 days to arrive which is pretty standard. I had set in my mind that I wouldn't have the bike for a little while. I got a message about a week before I was expecting that it was ready!! Wow! it's like I have a new bike. I've taken several of my motorcycles to RnR, so far just for mounting of tires. They have always done a good job of mounting tires, and at a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and helpful, and genuinely cares about customer needs and service. For all I know, they may have genius expert mechanics, but based on the appearance of the shop, the staff, and the area, I'm not sure I would trust them with complex work on my bikes. I am really not a "fancy" kind of guy, but a little focus on demonstrating attention to detail and professionalism by working on appearance would go a LOOONG WAY for this place. It is hard to tell the people who work there apart from people that might be just hanging around. The area is an industrial park, and there are patches of weeds mixed with patches of eroding sand & clay around the cracked and crumbling pavement, next to the building that doesn't seem to have any maintenance. The dumpsters and things in the parking lot are scattered around helter-skelter and there is scattered grit, sand and pebbles around. Even inside the "storefront" is just a messy room with stuff scattered around with no apparent organization. I'd really like to trust them with doing "real" work on my bikes, but based on the appearance of the shop and the staff, I am not sure any of them are professional mechanics, or just hacks. read more

Had a Bike broken down for over a year, took it to Cycle max and they did a horrible job Thankfully i found this place, they took 3 days to get my bike running perfectly They where really cool about everything and understood my problem with another shop, Thier shop being an hour away from me i tried to pick up my bike and i was about 45 minutes late from when they close (5:30) but they waited for me and understood that i lived far away and was dealing with traffic, they defiantly went out of their way to take care of me, and i will defiantly go out of my way to get to their shop I recommend you travle 60 miles if you have to they will get the job done right!!! DO NOT bring your bike here. Dropped my bike off, and an employee called for me to make a deposit(I did same day). 2 weeks later called to see the progress & was told, "we haven't received your deposit! We tried to call you." Told Rick that I made the deposit over the phone to 1 if his employees 2 weeks ago. His reply, "ohh I see what they did..." flash forward 3 weeks later, I call to check status on the bike, "it's up and running, everything's great." The truth is, rick hadn't got the bike running, another 2 weeks later, he tells me that they needed to a professional to look at it, they don't have experience on my brand of bike. BUT HIS WEBSITE STATES THIS! He ended up not being able to fix the bike, but yet charged me full price for the work done on it, totaling near $1500. Towed the bike to a reputable mechanic and he FIXED the bike for basically what I flushed down the toilet by going to Rick in the first place. Oh by the way, had a sweet gash scratch on my bike that miraculously showed up while at Ricks. Bikers beware. read more
