The story is long and had no happy ending. Much money was spent. Many tales were told but when it came down to the quality of the work performed ....bearings installed backwards somehow failed. 2018 Triumph Bonneville ST - Oil / Brake Fluids, Chain and new Front Tire. As this was the first time I'd brought it in for any service, outside of my DIY oil changes in 3 years, I had them do an inspection and adjustments to cables. With an electronic throttle and EFI, admittedly there isn't as much to do, but I figured I hadn't spent a dollar on shop labor the whole time I've owned the bike... so I was do. The rates were competitive with what I have seen online. The DMV is not known to be a cheap place for services so factor that in. RUN away! Been going to this place for 3 years. However, this place isn't the same since Covid. Older and great mechanics are no longer there. mostly new hires now. I think the owner is trying to watch his bottom line. The owner charged for services that were never ordered. But claims that they were based on what he claims. And when he was confronted with facts, he intimidates customer by raising his voice and fans his aggression. For a small guy like him, he does have the intimidation value of a junkyard dog. A few others I met from Coleman said they had to recall their bike because he was trying to pull the same with them. One went so far as saying that owner keeps a lot of old bikes in the back to reuse old parts for customers. A lot of good reviews here are from a long time ago and are from his buddies, since they will host meetups there. I would just skip this place altogether, and go to Coleman where you can expect professional service. Coleman keeps a database, so there's paper trail to keep them honest. FEMALE RIDERS, DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! I took my bike here in August. The more time that passes, the more certain (and angry) I feel they basically charged me $400 to damage my tail lights. They acted like the lights were already damaged when I brought my bike in, but I later found a picture taken shortly before I dropped it off and the tail lights were perfectly fine. I don't think they have much respect for women because they had doodles of male genitalia in the office. I should have taken that as a red flag but honestly I've gotten so used to the boys club of the motorcycle community. I'm not trying to get any money back or free services. I wish there was an option for them owing me a star but i'll settle for one star. I had an all around horrible experience with this company. First I called them to get a price to have my rear tire replaced on my 2009 yamaha r6 and they told me it would be $70 to mount and balance and all that good stuff. I took my bike over and all was well, it took them roughly 50 mins and they weren't very professional at all. So I got off of my plastic lawn chair located in front of their shop (their waiting area) and went inside to pay, only to be charged $95. When I asked why it was $95 he said "that's the price". It was only $25 so I just told myself it's ok it's done and over with I'll just never come back here again. 3 weeks go by and I return home from bike week and I notice a noise. I get my bike home and investigate the noise and realize that my chain is rubbing the frame because they didn't secure my axle nut properly and it started to back off. So while I'm fidgeting with the chain I realize there is red dust every where (I have a red chain). I wipe down the frame and start wiping down the wheels when I realize somethings not right. Under closer examination I realize they dented my wheel and tore the white reflective tape in 2 places (I assume this is from their mounting machine). The employees at Crossroads Cycles tried to conceal the damage by using white paint or even possibly white out to conceal the breaks in the line. This was the last straw, I called them immediately and left them a professional voice-mail stating what I discovered and that they have one opportunity to make it right. I did not receive a single phone call from anyone so now I am here... PLEASE do your self a favor and just go to Coleman Powersports! read more

Took my bike to Fairfax Cycle, the manager of the store said it would take him from 30 minutes to 3 hours to drill 2 screws out of my bike and it was 90 dollars for an hour. Man where to start.... 1st my bike was in the shop for about 3 months with my initial est repair time being only 1 month. 2nd once my bike was ready they tried to charge me around $100 for a new battery not knowing I had replaced my battery with a brand new one a day before I gave them the bike. I got them to remove the cost after much debate... they said they got my bike mixed up with another GSXR. 3rd once I made payment the guy told me my bike was ready and he was going to go get the key.. So I waited in that little dirty ass office for a good 20min only to go outside and see my bike running just sitting there with no one in sight. Twice now they've gone above and beyond to help me with flat tires and patches. To my knowledge they are the only place in the DC area that will patch a tire instead of trying to upset you on a brand new tire. If they're not around to pick up the phone, you're out of luck. No way to leave a message. Wouldn't be a big deal if they actually picked up the phone more than 1% of the time. I've tried calling the shop a dozen times throughout the day on multiple occasions with zero luck. When my bike was in the shop, they promised to give me a status updates on multiple occasions to tell me what work needed to be done and not once did they actually call me. It was that 1% pickup rate that actually allowed me to okay work. The minor issue they were supposed to fix was my instrument cluster lights. They got the high beam working but never addressed the neutral or oil pressure. The major issue was the engine tune. When I went to pick it up it was idling and while I was gearing up it died. The mechanic present didn't seem to mind so I just assumed it was okay for that to happen while the engine was cold. A week later, the bike is unridable. Constantly flooding and dying in traffic, which has put me in some precarious situations. If I can ever get a hold of them, I want to give em a chance address the outstanding issues I already payed them for. I made the mistake of taking their word everything was running fine because they were really friendly in person. In the future, I'd be a fool to just assume they wouldn't let me ride out with everything running correctly. read more

I had previously gone to a shop closer to my house in Vienna which had quoted my 2003 Honda Shadow's backfiring and weird idle-click problem for around $375. They seemed very knowledgeable and assured me that was the fix but I chose Crossroads because a friend referred me to them. So on July 18th I took my bike in to Crossroads and was given an estimate by Dennis. He also seemed very knowledgeable and quoted me about half of the other shop. His estimate and inspection of the problem was very honest and straight forward similar to what other reviewers experienced; so I was sold and decided to leave my bike. It needed a carb sync and was missing a fuel mixture screw(how this happened I have no idea!). About a week later my bike was ready. Brian was the closest to the garage door so I told him I was there to pick up the Shadow. He didn't work on my bike so he couldn't really give me a summary of what was done. During his test drive I noticed something was a little off. While he was riding it I noticed the bike was still backfiring. It was supposed to go away according Dennis' initial estimate. Backtrack two days, during our "your bike is ready" phone call Dennis mentioned something that really caught my attention. Dennis said IF my bike didn't ride 100% they would have to go into the carburetor and that'll cost $800+, but then backed away from the idea saying it sounded fine to him and the mechanic so disregard the idea. That's when I realized maybe THEY weren't even sure the bike was fixed. Back to the pick-up test ride, I rode it down the street and it STILL backfired as if no repairs were done. When I brought it back to Brian he said to give it some time and maybe with a higher octane gas the backfiring will go away. So I gave it a week and called back. I spoke to Dennis about the problem and he gave me the same story that if it didn't sound right to me, that it'll cost $800+ to get into the carburetor and find the problem. Yesterday (7/29) I returned and again talked to Brian. He rode it and noticed it was still backfiring and patiently brought it back in for a few more carb adjustments. Brian is the only reason this shop is getting stars cause how could you go from "it'll cost you $180 and done deal" to "well, if it's not fixed then it'll be $800" ? Am I satisfied with Brian's repair? I guess. It still backfires but it's barely noticeable. Maybe I'm just too picky. Summary: If Crossroads give you an estimate, take a mental note of EVERYTHING the estimator says. They are a very honest shop and won't treat novices or motorcycle newbie's like...exactly that, but ask ALL the possible questions. Get multiple estimates from different shops in the area then go to them. If the price sounds too good to be true (like in my case) don't get your hopes up. Yeah I saved money, but the bike isn't 100%. I believe that's what I paid for??? Three stars for the shop and Brian's second look at the backfiring. Minus two stars for losing my trust with the "if it's not fixed it'll be..." story and not getting it right the first time forcing me to return. Sorry for the long review, but if I'm going to deduct stars for a business, you might as well know the ENTIRE story why. read more

I love these guys; this is absolutely what a bike shop should be about. I've had to take my bike here a few times, mostly for inspections, but some minor service and also a battery replacement. They are always honest about what your bike needs (what it NEEDS, not what other places would try to sell you to make more $$$$), what it will take to fix it, how much it will cost, and when it will be ready. Their prices are very fair. But best of all is their passion for bikes: they love to talk bikes, tinker on bikes, and get riders on the road and their bikes in shape. I have total confidence in these guys to deal fairly with me, and have talked my friends into trying them over the 'flashier' places like Coleman Powersports and Patriot. Just had my first service at Crossroads. Call to arrange was easy, friendly and helpful (spoke to Dennis the owner). Had them install some new fork springs, brembo brake calipers, a new front brake rotor, real shocks, change the oil/oil filter, check the valves and synch the carbs. Didn't ever feel like they were overselling me. In fact, Dennis talked me out of upgrading the brake lines to steel braided - telling me the brake lines in modern bikes (have a 2004 Triumph Thruxton) don't give like older rubber lines, so there's no point in changing them out). They worked out a good schedule, gave me an estimate and set it up. I dropped of my bike on the day we agreed, along with the parts I brought along. They called me the day they were supposed to finish the work with one question, then called back later in the day to say they were all set and the bike was ready to pick up the next day, as arrange (a big plus in my book is setting expectations and meeting them, which they did). I went in the next day, and they walked me through several things (RC in this case - nice guy, very enthusiastic and helpful). Only ding I'll give is the overall cost was quite a bit higher than I was quoted. I attribute some of that to some unforeseen issues, but I really didn't get a great explanation as to why that was. Took the bike out for extensive riding the following weekend and couldn't be happier. The bike has never run as good, and the fit and finish of the work they did is impeccable. Very pleased - will be back. These guys clearly love what they do, have been doing it a long time, and recognize the value of keeping their customers happy and not screwing them for the short-term buck. read more

I have had two motorcycles, a Suzuki GSXR 600cc and a Suzuki V-Strom 1000cc Dennis, the owner, is patient and has good customer service skills. He is straight to the point and tells you what you need. They have plenty of business because they've built a good reputation and have been around a long time. The mechanics pay special attention to detail (critical when you're fixing motorcycles) and they use quality parts. Just go in there with respect and they'll take care of you. I've been going to this place as soon as I got my first motorcycle when I was 17. At that time, I was pretty new to the culture so the mechanics ended up teaching me a thing or two about my pride and joy. Let me tell you a story. When I was 17, I had my license suspended and an Arlington Deputy pulled me over at George Mason for not having turn signals! Deputy Hill (to this day I remembered this dudes name) issued me a ticket for suspended license and told me someone has to come drive the bike or I have to push it 3 miles to my home. I definitely wasn't doing the latter but I didn't had anyone I know at that time that rides a motorcycle and/or was willing to give me a ride home. So I called crossroads cycle since I knew that they had a towing service, unfortunately the owner, Dennis, doesn't tow during certain days since he drives his Porsche at times. One of the mechanic, man I forgot his name but he is the very first one that you'd see if you walk into the shop, answered the phone and offered to help me. He and his buddy came to me and he rode the bike to my house and didn't ask for anything in return. WOW! Who does that? By now, I have been riding in the street for quite sometime and have the jnowledge and know-how to perform any maintenance needed on my motorcycle. However, sometimes when I really need something done and I can't get it done myself because of time constraint or I don't know how to do it. I immediately take it to Crossroad Cycle and they would take care of it for me. Sure they are priced from middle to high but it is reasonable, VERY VERY REASONABLE. They mis-diagnosed my bike 2 times and wanted me to pay each time for their mistake. I nearly sued them. The first time left me stranded. They took several days to pick up the bike and were late 5+ hours the day they finally did. They wanted to charge me 500 for a 75 dollar job and it wasn't even the issue. Definitely call to check up on your bike. I had Tom drop it off on Friday last and was told by a CC employee that they would be able to take a look at it "Saturday." Still no word from anyone by Thursday next, so i called. "Oh, we haven't even looked at it yet." ....blokay... I will edit this review if they do a good job on the actual repairs. Edit: The bike has not killed my boyfriend yet, so hoo-rah for that. It did run out of gas on his way to work the very first day, though. DON'T TRUST THESE GUYS WITH ANYTHING YOU VALUE!!! I left my motorcycle with dennis in november 2009 for a carburetor repair. I didn't get it back until spring 2011. they lost all my records. I only found out after I came in to check on the bike. they gave me a bunch of theories on my carburetor problem but never did any actual work. I provided spare gas tank and carburetor at their requests. they lost the paperwork again and refused to release the bike for another year saying they couldn't get the billing right without the records. they lied to me on and off that they were working on the bike, he was belligerent, shouting and cursing at me. after months of calling and writing letters I finally got dennis to release the bike. they charged me $200 to hold my bike for over a year, they didn't store it properly, lost all of the spare parts and the engine was locked up. Dennis. only became civil after I wrote the better business bureau and still resolved nothing. these guys are pure sleaze, liars and bumblers. read more

Took my bike in because it wasn't starting. Was expecting to pay anywhere between 300-600 dollars for a carb clean and some other work. When I got it back the bill was only 50. Brought my bike in for blown fork seals. They replaced them for me. While the front end is better I had $14 parts installed and my bill was $350. And there was no labor breakdown on my receipt. Either the labor rate is super high or it takes 4 hours to replace fork seals. Friendly staff and bike is fixed, just not very pleased with the price. At this rate I could have bought a spanner and a couple other tools for the job and done it myself. Partly my fault. Should have asked for a quote. read more

They take good care of you. I went for a tune up and Dennis offered to replace my front brake lever if he had one available. He didn't and I forgot about it until later that week he called me to tell me he had tracked a couple options down. They took that initiative without even being asked and I found that impressive. This is an all around great place. I have been going to Crossroads for the last 3 almost four years. I have vintage motorcycles; 1980 Kawasaki KZ650, 1980 Honda CB750F. Anyone that owns a vintage 34+ year old motorcycle knows that they can be finicky. The guys at Crossroads (Dennis, Bryan, RC, JR, I can list more) have always bailed me out. These guys are not trying to make a fast buck on you. They provide great service, they will give you an honest opinion. The prices here are very well worth it. Take it from a guy that has tried to get quick jobs done here and there. You can pay for fast quick and dirty services all you want, but eventually you will need to get it done once and get it done right. These are the guys that you call on. Dennis the main man of Crossroads is also very knowledgeable. I have learned to fix things hear and there on my motorcycles and also got great advice from Dennis. Myself at a high level; I'm an IT professional, and I run a blog focused on men's style and motorcycles www.gentlemensbrim.blogspot.com I and my partner in crime do allot of road traveling by motorcycles to attend events, on motorcycles, and the moto culture. Internatioanl travel as well. KZ650: Bought this bike via craigslist. I paid a local guy to get the bike running (carburetors, jetting, spark plugs, all of that stuff) needless to say it wasn't running right. I kept getting the local guy to do work on it; until one day I said you know what its time to get the bike in the hands of some experts. I later got a good recommendation from friends that have been riding for 10+ years to go with Crossroads. At that time RC, and Bryan did the majority of work on my KZ650 (rejetting the carburetors, installing the brand new exhaust system, installing the hydraulic brake master cylinder, changing the tires, shaking down the bike, and doing a routine motorcycle check, install and repair leaking gas, install petcock). They did not take long at all when working on the motorcycle. Usually with the carb jobs I was able to get the bike back in a day or two. I have road this motorcycle from Washington D.C, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Baltimore, Virginia Beach, Richmond and put allot of miles on it. CB750F: I bought a 1977 Honda CB750 via Ebay (Ohio); had it transported to the Bronx NY after locating a motorcycle "builder" out of the Bronx. The "builder" said that he had a new engine that was rebuilt from an 80 CB750F, and instead gave me that bike. I thought I was getting a deal, However; that was not the case. The guy took two years to build the bike, and cut allot of corners. The carburetors were off, the back wheel on the bike moved around at low speeds, the custom seat was not mounted on the bike properly, had an exhaust leak, had bad electrical wiring, As of the time writing this I've had the bike for just about a year and only road it 4 mounts out of 18 months. Bryan from Crossroads was able to (install a new axle, and spacers) This solved the problem of the moving tire. I did not have all of the parts needed for the job so they were able to either order it for me, or point me in the direction of where I can go to find the parts. Once the part was in hand they got it all done in a day. At another point in the life of the CB750F I had a leak coming from the engine covers. I tried to tighten the engine cover bolts, and over torqued a screw, two of them. I later on ordered a new engine cover gasket (mind you this would've been replaced if only the original bike builder was honest). While installing the OEM engine cover gasket, I broke a camshaft holder (rocker). I was able to find a set of complete camshaft holders for the 80 DOHC model, I was able to order brand new OEM engine cover bolts. Dennis advised me on things to look out for when installing a gasket for the first time. I was able to get all done myself. In the process I disconnected the spark plugs, and put them on in the wrong sequence. Needless the bike did not start. And for 3 months I was trying to fix it myself. I ended up pulling the carburetors and rebuilding the carbs. I installed new jets, needles, gaskets, pretty much the whole complete OEM set. The bike still did not run. I turned the bike over to Crossroads, and they were able to get the job done. It turns out the bike did not start as they noted because the spark plugs were connected in the wrong sequence. The Carbs slow jet needed to move from a 75, to a 68 (70 may be perfect), The original builder had a 130 main jet. I got it down to a 110. Crossroads was able to fine tune the carbs, and pretty much rebuild it again, and give it a good shake down. I was able to ride the motorcycle from Washington, D.C to New York and back. This weekend Ill be riding from DC to New Jersey. You can even stop by and shoot the breeze with them. Dennis is a wealth of knowledge as well. Gave me a good history lesson on the difference between bobbers, and choppers, modern sport bikes, as well as vintage. read more

I went to Crossroads Cycle because of the largely positive Yelp reviews relative to the handful of other full service motorcycle shops around. You have to make an appointment during the week but on Saturday you can show up early and get in line. I appreciate that, as my job prevents me from being able to take my bike in except on weekends. All motorcycle shops are costly, but these guys made me feel like I was valued as a customer. When they noticed me just leaning up against the wall outside while my bike was being worked on, the owner encouraged me to come on inside the garage and watch. He said I should ask any questions I wanted, and encouraged me to swing by or call with any motorcycle question I ever had. With that level of transparency, I felt very at ease. On top of that, this isn't a bad place to spend a couple hours if your bike needs work. They have dozens of classic bikes in various stages of restoration, and while you're watching them wrench your own ride you can talk with other motorcycle lovers or watch them work on other bikes too. The bottom line is that if you've got a bike and it needs work you can't do yourself, don't hesitate to bring it here. They're fast, friendly, and the value isn't too bad. read more
