My experience with Andrew (Sales Manager) was good when I purchased my Aprilia there last march. Their title department was inconsistent and seemingly would forget to process vehicle registrations on a regular basis. I had to make multiple calls and visits to get my plates, and another customer was complaining about the same while I was there making a purchase. Anyway...I called today to attempt to order a part for my bike, and the phone number and website is down. I found out through a comment on a Facebook post that they went out of business. On a good note, Coleman Powersports in Falls Church and Woodbridge are now Piaggio group dealers, so if you need to purchase, service, or get parts for any Piaggio bike, you can reach out to them. read more

THE WORST place ever. Left my scooter for check up of the brakes. After two weeks of silence i call them to see the status. Gentleman tells me that my bike is ready and that i should come and pick it up. Once i arrive they tell me that i have to pay $2200 and some charge for replacement of the master cylinder that i DID NOT approve. On my question who approved that? He replies, you did it! Which is the biggest lie ever! Never got a CALL, never had APPROVED anything. We go back and forth and at the end i tell them to put everything back and that i am not going to pay anything. Less than a day later, i have received email stating that my scooter is ready. Only good thing was that they didn't even try to charge anything just gave me my scooter back. Not sure what they were trying to do, but i am of opinion that they wanted to milk me for money! I am coming from the country that is not known for good customer service but this is NEXT LEVEL!!!! So I contacted La Moto again interested in a 2019 Piaggio Liberty 50. I reached out at first via the Piaggio website, but was quoted a base price ($2399) that was $409 higher than their website (which quoted ($1990). I also received a voice mail from Colleen who said that she should actually do better on that price, so I called her. I explained that the price she had quoted me was $400 higher and she explained that it had to do with the place that they worked the discount price through or something like that...not exactly sure what that was all about. She went on to quote a price of $1999, plus tax, blah blah blah, and "document fees". When I asked what "document fees" were, she simply stated that it was the "cost of doing business". No other explanation was offered and to be honest, I don't think she thought I was entitled to one. I said thank you and hung up. Not interested. There won't be a third try. read more

It took me a while to get ahold of someone to make an appointment (called three times and requested info from their website); however, once I got a face-to-face meeting they were very easy to work with and provided a spectacular deal on a scooter. My first experience with service at this shop was filled with one disappointment after another. When I called in August to make an appointment to repair my scooter, they scheduled it for over one month later. After loading it on a tow truck one day before the appointment, I called to confirm and learned that they had lost my appointment, but that they would fit it in. I tried to be patient because I understand that many businesses are struggling with COVID-19. But they kept promising to call me by a certain date, and then when I reached out to them after hearing nothing, they would push it out further. After 10 days of prodding them, they finally took care of the repair reasonably quickly. I was happy with the end result, but it was a very costly repair and communication was abysmal throughout my experience. To top this all off, when I went to pick up my scooter, not one staff member was wearing a face covering, even while interacting with clients. I had to wait inside a small room while three employees talked constantly without any face coverings. It felt unsafe and I would normally choose not to patronize such a business, but at this point I needed to pick up my scooter. It is a shame that this is the only Aprilia/Vespa dealer in the area. read more

I don't normally post reviews, but feel compelled to warn people about service at La Moto. I took my Vespa there to have some serious scratches painted, after learning that body shops don't usually work on Vespas. Their estimate was high - about $1600 to take care of two side panels. You could just feel how inflated everything was. But this was an insurance claim so I didn't fuss about it. They told me expect the work to take two weeks. It took OVER THREE MONTHS. After about a month, I began to call regularly. Always got some vague reassurance that it would be done in a few days. But they'd never call me with any kind of update, apology, anything. When the work was finally done, I asked what they could do in recognition of how outrageously long the work had taken. They assured me that they'd do something about the price. I went to pick up the scooter. The final price: $1550 - just $50 less than the original estimate. With a lot of talk about how much they'd taken off. The nice things I can say: 1) the paint work is good. 2) At one point in my saga, they said they weren't happy with the paint work they got from the place they used, and they sent it out again to get that right. So they didn't let me go home with a botched paint job. But my suggestion: only take your Vespa in for service here if you don't have other options. I've never experienced such poor service. read more

In my experience, La Moto did not overcome their declining Yelp reputation for not making customers a priority. I visited their store this week as they are the only Moto Guzzi dealer in NOVA. I came in pretty sure that is what I wanted, but I wanted a test ride, and I made no bones about my being a new rider. There was another customer in there when I arrived, and he seemed to be in deep thought about a particular bike, so that allowed their only salesperson to help me. Perhaps I'm being oversensitive, but at no time did I feel like I was taken seriously as a real customer, and it was made clear that they did not want me to test ride any bikes. I left the store a little disappointed, thinking that maybe that's just the way it is in that motorcycle newcomers have to earn their respect, and that you ride the bike when it's yours. In spite of this shop being about 1 mile from my home, I can't imagine any reason to return. Update Nov 1: So I received an email after posting this review from La Moto with an apology and inviting me to schedule a test ride on their DEMO bike. On the upside, this means that they have a bike to test ride with. The downside is that this email shows that I was actively discouraged from test riding while in the store by saying that I could only ride with a firm commitment to buy. They had me in person, in the store, with boots and a jacket ready to go, but chose to stonewall me instead. While this doesn't mean they outright lied to me, they omitted having a demo bike when I asked about a test ride, and instead the implication was that the test ride would be on the bike about to be purchased. Why on earth would I take more time out of my schedule to return after what I felt was poor treatment the first time? read more

Many years ago, shortly after Georgetown Vespa closed and La Moto assumed their business, I found the shop and it's employees reliable and helpful (shout out to April who used to run the shop!). Then the management changed and every experience I've had since then has been progressively worse. Leaving aside the racist interaction that I had with a lady in a position of leadership in the shop, the most recent experience resulted in the mechanic removing my entire wheel for a repair that only required a plug, followed by a reassembly that left one of my brakes unresponsive (which I had to inform La Moto of, even though they certified the Vespa for pickup). Finally, most egregiously, La Moto remounted my rear wheel in such a way that the wheel began to detach from the frame of the Vespa once the Vespa was in motion. Bear in mind that the Vespa was only two years old at the time, had never been dropped, and was otherwise in excellent condition. I am not a mechanic so I cannot certify by sight the proper order of assembly of parts for wheels, but when the noise began and two different mechanics checked it out, they independently and immediately observed that the wheel was incorrectly attached to the frame and that this was not a naturally occurring issue but rather, had to be the result of a botched repair. Both noted that, left uncorrected, this wheel would have eventually and completely separated from the frame while I was driving, causing a potentially catastrophic accident. Given the prices that La Moto charges, let alone their claim to be Piaggio experts, this oversight and negligence is inexcusable. I will not be returning. (I'll note that this most recent incident occurred two years ago and I thought seriously about not posting anything, but I'm still so frustrated with how this experience, and the risk to my own safety that I decided these words needed to be said.) read more

I didn't have a great experience at La Moto, and it's the reason I chose to buy my scooter elsewhere. My boyfriend dropped me off to find parking, and I wandered the shop for about 15 minutes and no one talked to me. I made eye contact with several sales people, and no one asked me what I was looking for, no one told me they'd be with me shortly, nothing. When my boyfriend entered the shop, someone immediately asked what he was looking for. Cool. I did work with a female salesperson who was nice and let me test ride a Vespa and answered a lot of questions about Vespas in general. When we were waiting to test ride, there was a woman asking to test ride another bike that had a "SOLD" sign on it. I overheard her salesman telling another salesperson that he was going to let the woman ride it, even though it had been purchased. That made me feel super uncomfortable (because if you buy something, the expectation is that the general public can't access it anymore). I think he ended up offering a different test bike to the woman, but overall it left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS (literally, ALL COSTS). Had my Vespa towed in over a week ago with a flat tire... 8 days later I am still waiting for that flat tire to be repaired. Last time they repaired a tire it took 2 hours. My tow truck driver warned me that they were having problems and I should've listened. I've received two commitments that the bike would be repaired the next day and both times I have called back someone has indicated that the person that committed to the repair has been fired. I've bought 3 bikes from this dealership with numerous service appointments but with the departure of Stephanie and others, this place is completely unreliable. I start this review by saying I found the staff and work to be up to par, not as good as Modern Classics but good. My problem is with their gouging prices and not honoring a quote that they gave. My bike was due for service so I contacted La Moto and Gary, he quoted me 405 to change both fluids and flush radiator, I was more than willing to pay that. Then when my bike got there he reneged on quote and now quoted me high 600's. I gave them every opportunity to honor their quote but he kept it in 600's. I bagged 300 dollar radiator flush( 90 at college scooters) and settled for a 300 oil change( three times what I normally paid). I will never go back to La Moto and will recommend to all my scooter and motorcycle friends to stay far from this want to be boutique in a warehouse outfit. read more

This might be my first Yelp review. I rarely give reviews and almost never give a negative one as I just take my business somewhere else. But this was so disappointing that I feel I have no choice but to share my experience. I should have read the other reviews but they had done work on my BV350 a couple of years ago and I had a generally positive experience at that time. I called, got a salesperson who said the service person was outside and he would get back to me. A week later I got a call. I asked if they could do a scheduled service and an inspection and they said yes. So I went in. I brought up a potential issue with the starter and they said they'd look into it. Which they did. It needed to be replaced and I was looking at around $180 with labor. I said fine. It took two weeks and they called to say it was ready. I asked them if they did the scheduled service and inspection and they said they had not. That took another six days. Fine, it's too hot to ride anyway and I'm busy at work so it wasn't a big deal. I figured it would be another $50-$100 for the service. I get there and the bill says $545! For what, I ask? Three additional labor charges, at a rate of $125 (!) per hour, was the lion's share. Adding insult to injury it turns out they don't actually do inspections at their shop and they had to take it to the garage down the street - and charged me labor for the guy to take it there and wait for the inspector to do his work. I balked at that since they told me they do inspections and had I known I would have taken it to be inspected myself (which I usually do). I expected him to throw me a bone and take off the labor charge for the visit to the gas station, which would not have totally satisfied me but would have been the smart customer service play to show a little respect for a reasonable challenge. Instead he said nothing and ran the full bill to my card. Well, IMO I was hosed by this greedy shop. Car dealers don't charge $125 an hour for service or an oil change. I can not recommend this shop for service and I will never go back. In fact, I'm PO'd that I had to waste my time writing this review but I feel my fellow scooterists need to be informed. read more

Heaven help you if you have a Piaggio or Vespa and want service. The service telephone always gets picked up by the answering service and their message box is always full. When I emailed them for a service appointment, they emailed back a form that I had to fill out and email back to them completed. Then they were supposedly going to set up a service appointment (in about two weeks). I went through this process twice and still never got a call, email, or text message back. I like Piaggio/VESPA scooters, but their service departments are terrible. read more

My recent experience with La Moto Washington, where I purchased a Vespa, was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. I happened to pick up my scooter when both owners were there and they were very warm and helpful. The sales manager was particularly attentive and spent a good deal of time walking through all the features of the scooter. As far as price is concerned I believe they negotiated in good faith and I think we came to a fair deal. If a bunch of staff left or were let go it seems understandable the business might have problems maintaining good service for a time. The question is whether they can recover and perhaps be even better off in the long run - I guess we'll see. I can tell you I did not experience any issues working with them and left with a very favorable impression of La Moto. It seems they're getting past their recent staffing upheaval. read more

I have been coming to this dealership for the past two years for my Vespa service and repairs. I stopped going all together when I started comparing their prices for service, changing tires, etc. to a other shop. They were double and many times triple the price. If it were price alone, I would give two or maybe three stars but the service department staff are so rude and anytime I call or try and come in they are always "too busy" to help. Management needs to fix the pricing (changing a tire shouldnt cost three times as much as other shops) and staff can't be rude/busiest people on this planet. read more

Worst experience ever at La Moto. Had my Vespa Primavera 50 towed from home as I had a flat tire and could not ride it there. I talked to Gary Yee in advance to make sure they had the parts and asked for additional services such as oil change and stop light bulb replacement. Simple things. No word from them for one week so I called them and they barely had a quote for the service but nothing done yet. I was shocked when Gary Yee told me that replacing the tires cost $393, changing the stop light bulbs $396 and the oil change is $168. I believe changing the oil for a Bentley would be even cheaper. But my nightmare did not end there. After I authorized the almost $1,000 dollars service, TWO more weeks passed without hearing from La Moto. I called several times but it was usually only the security guy who picked up the phone. Finally I could get hold of Gary Lee who told me that the technician was out and they had not worked on my Vespa. Really??? Three weeks and nothing??? I expressed my deep dissatisfaction to Gary for about 3 minutes and his only answer was "Okey". I am now entering my fourth week awaiting my Vespa Primavera to be serviced and I am afraid La Moto will do some rushed mediocre work on it and return it to me to avoid more of my complaints. But for sure they will be happy to take my $1,000. Take my advice and stay away from them. read more

Very poor service, very expensive, all around not a good deal. They had me come back multiple times to the store because they couldn't find a helmet they sold me, then they had me come back to pick up my plate (which was prepared a month after the temporary plate expiration). They sold me a vespa cover that doesn't fit on the vespa. Finally, when I was in need of a repair they promised to pick up the vespa for free, then charged me $300 claiming that the warranty wouldn't cover any repair and the pick up had never been for free. They are also generally rude when speaking on the phone. I definitely do not recommend, although they are one of the places where you can find a vespa. read more

I purchased a used 2018 Piaggio scooter from La Moto in July 2020. The scooter required replacing a key component before the purchase could be completed. Additionally, I live in Maryland so that securing title and tag required working across jurisdictions. I state all this to demonstrate that I worked across the sales, service and admin functions of La Moto. I received 5-star service from each and every area of La Moto. I found them fair, open and transparent. Not once did they over-promise completion of work, task or delivery of a part. Special shout-out goes to Colleen, who was exceptional and diligent about communicating accurate status updates. I felt I received good value in my purchase of the scooter. It's a tremendously fun machine, and it's good condition was exactly as Colleen described. I was treated with courtesy, honesty and accuracy in all phases of my dealings with La Moto. read more

This place is a freaking rip off I purchased two scooters from them , unfortunately the first one got stolen than I went ahead and purchased the second one which is tyfoon 125cc so after 800 miles I took it back for oil change thinking it ll be the right thing to do because they use better oil or they know better but usually I do it my self for 4$ . But I guess it was the biggest mistake ever made yes guys I got charged 200$ for an oil change , they told me it cost 150$ for labor which is an hour and half . They tried to convince me that it takes an hour and half to do oil change believe or not 4times more expensive than a car and the funny part is I have done it my self many times doesn't take more than15min read more

Service was friendly but I left really disappointed in how much I was charged for my 600 mile service on my Aprilia. For an oil change and inspection of bolts and lubricating cables, I was charged $486.90. As someone who typically works on my own cars and bikes but just haven't had much time lately, I was willing to spend a couple hundred bucks or so just to have someone else take care of this first service for me, even at the higher dealership rates. I was quoted about $250-300 or so over the phone, which even though is high for the actual work required, I thought was fine. Unfortunately, I was shocked when I went to pick up the bike and the total was almost $500. In addition to shop supplies such as oil, crush washer, and filter, I was charged 2.75 hours of labor at $138.50 an hour for what is essentially an oil change and an inspection. I don't buy an Italian sports bike to worry about a few extra bucks here and there, but $500 was unreasonable in my opinion. read more

Had my Vespa with less than 500 miles in climate controlled storage for a couple years Brought in for regular maintenance and to fix brake. Took them a week to give me a quote on the cost. Cost was as much as blue book value of scooter. OUTRAGEOUS! Called Modern Classics and they agreed to do same work for less than half of what La Moto quoted. On top of it all LaMoto tried to get me to pay $127 for an evaluation fee when I tried picking scooter up to transport despite specifically telling me over phone that they don't charge fee for quotes. They eventually backed off but cost me a bunch of time and aggravation on phone and delivery service that was picking up scooter had to wait over an hour until I resolved. La Moto is amazing. Fantastic local cycle shop that sells Vespa Aprilia and Moto Guzzi. The shop is boutique style inside, very well lay out and welcoming. You kind of want to just sit and relax around all the amazing European bikes. I go there often for minor needs and you always have their attention. Several of my friends have purchased bikes there in the last years and the crew has take excellent care of them. Stephanie at the shop allows our local ride group to start and finish our rides there and spend time relaxing inside the shop offering beverages and snacks. Riders come first and they are all riding enthusiast. I cannot suggest this shop enough. read more

In 2020 I bought a motorcycle to be transferred to South Carolina and the Dealership never sent to title to the SC DMV within 90 days. The Lien holder also never got a copy so now after 2+ years (Bike paid off) La Moto will not give me a title. They keep making excuses and don't return my emails or phone calls. read more

Horrid reception...steer clear of this dealer. As I walked into the business a few days before Christmas, I was greeted with a, "what do you want?" I responded that I would like to look at some Moto Guzzis. His response, "first of all, we don't even open until 11:00." The current time was 10:57. I politely informed him his phone tree said they were open 10:00am to 7:00pm, and he might want to update it. I then asked if this was a good time to browse their Moto Guzzi inventory, and if not, when is a better time to look? His response, a terse, "we'll be open for browsers when Covid-19 is over." His coworker then spoke up to say their Moto Guzzis were stored at another location, and currently they don't accommodate browsers. She then said, "for now, we cater solely to those who are purchasing in the next 30 days." Even though I was the only customer in the dealership, and they're were two of them, I thanked them and walked away. Now, she had no idea whether or not I was a serious buyer, or that I had cash reserves to buy one that day. It was also very obvious she was not empathetic to those who might want to actually look at a motorcycle before making a purchase decision. I respect that this is their place of business, and that they have a right to serve anyone they want, when they want. Fortunately, there are several other Guzzi dealers within a couple hours' drive, and plenty of their competitors like Triumph, BMW, and Ducati nearby. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. If I do buy a Moto Guzzi, which I am very seriously considering, I won't have it serviced here, even though their shop is only15 minutes away. One skill I've acquired in 30 years of military service is the ability to quickly size up an organization...my experience and instincts tell me this is not a dealer I would trust. If they have zero regard for a potential customer, it makes me doubt they care about existing customers either. They can stick to their grumpy selves, and when they've ran all of their customers away, maybe a nicer, more customer-focused dealer will pick up the brand. read more

I've been a customer here for a while, I got my start with a Vespa 150. (As a brief aside, if you don't own a Vespa, you should go buy one immediately because they are the best vehicles, period. You don't know a city until you can hop from store to cafe, cafe to museum, and back home without worrying about parking. Exploring is easier, takes less time, and is generally better. And it's the best when you're on a beautiful, classically styled, lively, reliable machine like the Vespa.) La Moto Washington has a great selection of great Italian scooters and bikes that you can't find anywhere else in the DC Metro area. Between Piaggio, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia and Vespa, you cover pretty much any 2-wheeled need you might have. The staff will help you find what you're looking for (which is definitely the Aprilia Tuono) but is never pushy, since the vehicles sell themselves. The showroom is beautiful and well organized, and feels more like a studio than a motorcycle dealer. This isn't a giant warehouse filled with salespeople. It's a place to look at and test drive beautiful bikes. Special thanks to Stephanie for all her work there. The service department is reliable and does stand up work. Since they are the only licensed shop to work on many of these bikes they are often busy and it may take several days to get work done. But this isn't unique to this shop, since there aren't many qualified shops in the area, and there is considerable seasonality in demand for work. Springtime is of course the busiest season, so expect a little extra time to get the work done. Thanks to Jamie who always provides useful context and advice. Prices can be high for parts (these are genuine Piaggio/OEM parts), but service rates are pretty standard fare for motorcycle or auto repair. The only negative that I can think of is that during repairs, bikes are stored in a parking lot that isn't covered. That means your bikes are at the mercy of rain, pollen, and birds. I could imagine a huge benefit from covering the lot with a pavilion tent or something, but there are probably reasons that make this impractical, but it seems like a solveable problem. All in all, having spent several years with these guys I'm happy to see they're doing well and getting better. Which is good because I'll probably be back in a little bit to by the Aprilia Tuono, which, again, is the best bike available today, period. read more

My husband called on Friday and had a bike held for pickup on Saturday at 12 being as we live 2 hours away and have a check in hand. Saturday at 10 we get a call that the bike won't be ready until 2. We arrive at 3 and are ignored for about 15 minutes. Finally we get in touch with a salesperson and they can't find the bike. Turns out they prepped the wrong bike and ours was still on the show room floor. Neither the sales person or the manager could read a vin number apparently. So now we are stuck waiting while they prep the correct bike. We had plans to take my mom around DC and now we are stuck waiting for them to do the necessary inspections to even drive it. This place in an unorganized mess. Don't even waste your time. read more

mmm ... Beware ... I have just learned that almost all of La Motto's employees have quit due to a conflict with the absent tee owners of the Dealership. With Stephanie R along with Nicco, Kyle and others that are now gone the continued existence of this Dealership is now in jeopardy and that is such a major Shame particuarly since it is the only Motto Guzzi, Aprillia, Vespa Dealership in the DMV area. It was such an excellent Dearlersip under the Leadership of it's GM Stephanie R. Hopefully it will find a way to stay in business but I fear it will never be the same without Stephanie and others that made it one of the best motorcycle Dealerships in the DMV area. Sigh read more

When I was looking around to purchase a scooter, I had settled in on a price and figured a new Yamaha Metropolitan was going to be the final purchase. I headed to another "motorsports" store and just got a strange service. At first no one wanted to even say hi or ask what I was doing there (trying to give you thousands of dollars?). Then when someone finally came to ask me what I wanted, he said they were out of the model I asked about, didn't really tell me about any other models, and said "We might be getting more soon or next month or so... let me get your contact info and I'll let you know." Long story short, I never heard back... After I left there, I stopped into La Moto, not thinking I'd find anything in my price range because Vespa's were a little more than I wanted to spend. I figured if I wanted something that day, I'd need to settle for a Chinese model or wait until I heard back on the Honda... which I'd probably be still waiting on. I walked in, basically said what my budget was, and the woman said she had something that might work... I wasn't sure if I was about to be shown a used model or something junky, but she takes me around back to a brand new Buddy Genuine Riot Edition that was still being uncrated. This thing was a really cool looking 50cc, special edition moped and she made the numbers work... right on the button. They got it all set up and gassed, I came back the next day and drove it home. They even threw in a helmet. A few months later, someone cracked the front plate trying to steal it. I brought it back and they fixed it in a couple days at a very reasonable price.
