This is truly a local gem in Dexter. The ownership and staff is friendly and welcoming, the menu has something for everyone, and the food is very tasty. A great place to go for breakfast/lunch. My real estate agent took me here when I first started house hunting in Dexter, and the owner welcomed us to the area with complementary rice pudding. I would recommend the burgers, breakfast skillets, and gyros. My sister in law says their fries are the best she's ever had. read more

A good solid breakfast --- nothing fancy or high-falutin', but reasonable eggs and toast. I'm not a huge potato-hash person and found them a bit oily, but I do love some eggs over easy, and Riverview can deliver on that front. Nothing pretentious about this place, just GOOD home made food, good fast service and fair prices. A nice addition to Dexter's eateries. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu and the NEW owners have cleaned the place up and removed all the political dogma. Less crowded during the week. Waitress completely forgot about us. Waited 20 minutes and watched other wait staff just circle the dining room and take care of other patrons. I watched my waitress talk and carry on with other customers. Looked like she knew them or they were regulars. After 20 mins I notified another waitress about my waitress forgetting about me. She then apologized and took my order. By then the first impression had been made. While the new waitress was more thoughtful which I appreciated it, I was taken back by how overpriced this place is. Beware a breakfast can set you back averaging $15 or more. They have only one special that is $7. While the food was good, I am not sure I feel breakfast prices should start as though you are dining at the 4 Star restaurants. So with 1 dish and a side and just water was $27 for one person. This is not a cheap restaurant! Yelp should rework the description from $ to $$$. If just for the food I would be back but the prices will keep me from coming in again. read more

Went here for lunch based on the yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. Typical diner style. Everything was pretty clean. The bathroom was clean. There were plenty of waitresses tending to customers. Our food was great. We started with an order of saganaki. I order this pretty much every time I see it on the menu. One of the top 5 best I have had. The size was plenty for the 2 of us to split. I ordered a half order of sausage gravy biscuits. The gravy was good, but the biscuits were delicious! Super buttery and just the right texture. My friend ordered a western omelette and it came with hash browns and toast. She said her omelette was really good, but would have been better with cheese. We both liked the hash browns. And she got raisin bread for her toast and said it was really good. We were both given a complimentary sample of the rice pudding and it was so good. I would definitely stop here again. We had the Riverview Cafe cater our Dexter Rotary dinner event last night for 50 people and the UNANIMOUS review was that the meal was outstanding - for both the food AND the service. The entrée selection was perfect (filet mignon, chicken, pasta), the sides were done just right, and the desserts were fantastic. The Baklava and rice pudding were a hit. All of this and a very reasonable price makes this a no-brainer for us to use them again for our next event. Well done Riverview Cafe! read more

This is one of our go-to's for weekend breakfast. Service is great and the owners are usually in the restaurant seating guests, wiping tables, delivering food, taking cash. It's great to see owners present and active in the business, making sure customers are happy! The menu is decently sized, and the food is typical American diner food with a few Greek items mixed in. Portions aren't incredibly generous, as a previous reviewer said. We've learned to stick to the lower priced breakfasts and add a-la-carte items for the best bang for your buck. Also, It's a smaller building, and tends to get cramped when it's busy, so be prepared to have your chair bumped into you're here on a weekend. And do try the rice pudding! It's AMAZING! read more

Carry out was missing toast and the french toast was cold. Called to inform them I'd be back for the toast and told them the french toast was about room temp, which shouldn't be possible in the two minute drive from the place. Owner answered and argued with me that my food was perfectly hot. When I came back for the toast, I was just told "here you go have a nice day," but no "sorry I told you I had everything but didn't actually check your order, or for you having to wait an additional 15 minutes after being told the order would be ready in 15 minutes." As a war movie was playing we sought a table away from watching the carnage. There are many TVs on different channels plus the radio playing loudly. Our lovely waitress brought our beverages and took our order. Our Reuben arrived on WHITE BREAD garnished with some pickle slices. She offered, and we accepted, extra Thousand Island dressing. The side of slaw was disappointing...salt and pepper didn't do much to make it worth consuming. $3.99 for a small serving of slaw. Very disappointed. After reading good reviews, I drove all the way to Dexter for this place. Packed with people on Sunday morning. We waited for about 1 hour for our food to come out. Food was basic cafeteria food. Then, a waitress was offering free rice pudding to the customers at next table. We did not get offered any. I guess those are offered to selected people. We went here on a Sunday for breakfast and waited over an hour for really easy breakfast dishes. They were busy when we walked in, but several tables that came in after us got their food before us. When we asked the waitress what was going on she just shrugged and walked away. Then she came back and said "they're making your food now it should only take 5 minutes." Why on God's green earth does it take over an hour to get 4 dishes that take 5 minutes to make?! To top it all off their credit card machine was down when we went to pay. We came in on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was very crowded. After ordering we had to wait over an hour to get our food and tables around us that ordered around the same time or after us finished their food before ours was even brought out. No explanation was given until we asked at check out and were informed that one of their cooks didn't show up. (Which doesn't explain why our food came after everyone else's). Food was great until... we watched the cook go into the bathroom with his apron on and came out of the bathroom with his apron on! After that food wasn't so good. When I asked the gentleman if he was a cooked when he passed our table he said yes, and I mentioned to him about his apron in the bathroom, he apologized and said he would change it. Would he have changed it if we had not said something? Waitress and host apologized for this, manager said it was not a problem and we shouldn't have an issue with it. Some really great things - just perfect eggs, great crispy bacon, vegetables and especially onions done to exactly the right firmness. And at a good price! Unfortunately, the WORST drip coffee we have ever had. Not kidding! Bitter, burnt, and one pour had a mysterious chunk in it. Horrid, ruins the rest of the breakfast. Disappointed that their hash browns were not hash browns, they were potato slices. Which means they just get dry rather than frying crispy. Immediate coffee and tea was served. Had to look at the menu (& Yelp pix) to see what we wanted he he. Hubby had Greek omelet oh ya. And I had the corned beef skillet with poached eggs. And let me tell u... They were Both delish. I also ordered a side of pita with teziki. Yum their teziki had grated cucumber in it so u had a nice pop of crunch...! The cook did a poached egg perfectly also (c pix).. They owner came around and asked us if we were asked about rice pudding. We said no not yet and we told her maybe we share one. She said oh no I bring one for each! We looked at each other and said OK!! She is very nice. She is Albanian and husband from Greece so they know their stuff man. Our waitress came over then and asked us for rice pudding and we said she had been intercepted!! Lol. So I figure whatever u order is will be great and a lot of food. My wife and I are regulars here for breakfast, brunch or lunch. They make good food, and the quantities are large (we often have to take a box home). The place is very welcoming and the service is good. The gyro here is very good, so are the "skillets," the cheesesteaks and salads. They often offer a free rice pudding after the meal, which is tasty as well as being a nice gesture. Its crowded at times, especially weekend late mornings. They do have wifi. read more

I ordered a hungry man skillet as I was a hungry man at the time and it did not meet expectations as I was still a hungry, albeit slightly less, man afterwards. I really wanted to like this place. They did a nice job despite the fact that it was a typical busy Sunday- seated right away, orders were taken promptly & they filled our coffee repeatedly. However, I was extremely disappointed with everything else. Never filled our water glasses (and for some reason they were half the size of everyone else's), we didn't get our food at the same time, and the food itself was extremely disappointing. My omelette was delivered without cheese, even though it came with it, and my boyfriend's "chicken & waffles" was just over done waffles with store bought chicken strips on top. Visiting the area for the Ann Arbor Art Fair, we found RCR on Yelp. The restaurant itself is nice, cozy with plenty of tables. Staff was very warm and friendly. We were greater as soon as we sat down. Menu for breakfast features the usual breakfast fare-pancakes, waffles, French toast along with some house specialities. We both got French toast and it was served in less than 10 minutes from ordering. We both enjoyed are meals and the server was very attentive throughout. If you're a hard core foodie, always wanting something really different, this is not the place for. I am doing DoorDash and I had an order at this restaurant and I was greeted when I walked in, and they allowed me to use the bathroom because I've been dashing and a lot of places will not allow you to use their bathroom even if your DoorDash and picking up and order. They even offered me something to drink while I waited for them to complete the food. Staff and owner where super nice.
