The food and prices were horrible. I am shocked that anyone has had any other experience here. We got a chicken sandwich, the mahi sandwich, a quesadilla and a smoothie. The rolls were stale, the chicken was dried out, hard and tasted of cleaning supplies. The quesadilla was bitter, filled with black pepper and tough texture, the mahi fish bland but palatable also on a stale roll. The smoothie was just a slush of artificial mango flavoring. We paid over $100 dollars for this food at essentially a roadside stand. The staff was pleasant so I gave one star. I am disappointed in the misleading reviews on institutional food. read more

Location, location, location! This gem is right on the corner of the Manasquan River. It's so much fun watching the boats and looking across to the opposite shore. All the surfers park here as it's right on the surf beach and next to the public bathrooms. Walk southwest for 2 minutes and there is a dog beach and a nature preserve with trails. The food is casual and delicious. I love the milk shakes, the fish sandwiches and the breakfasts. You order at the counter and they call out your name when it's ready. Super simple, super fast: the food is always hot and fresh. Can't complain about the service. It fits the beach and the location perfectly. It's a breath of fresh air to see a small, family run cafe these days. I've seen four generations of the family hanging out at the restaurant (at one time) enjoying the sunshine and eating meals together. The matriarch came over from Italy when she was a teenager and started the restaurant over half a century ago. It's a really special place. Check it out. read more

Great dog friendly place to grab some food after visiting dog beach. The food was great and everybody was nice. There is outside seating where you can sit and watch traffic (on a relatively quiet street), and also watch the boats go in and out of the inlet. They have special dog meals and dog ice cream that is a great treat for your four-legged friends. Prices may be a little pricey, but that's to be expected considering their location. Ahi tuna sandwich was really good, as well as the chicken quesadillas. read more

Riverside Cafe has everything going for it. Let's start with the food. The fish tacos are a must have. The homemade Hawaiian recipe is out of this world. The fresh fish is flash fried keeping it fresh and delicious. I've also had the bbq chicken sandwich with fresh sliced tomatoes, cheese and lettuce on a roll. The decor of the restaurant feels like you're really on vacation with its thatched palm tree roof above the register area. Add the tacos and the location one block from the beach and you can't get any better. The staff is family owned and run and you can feel that in the pride of the food and service. I haven't even mentioned their mango smoothies and ice cream. I'll leave the rest for you to discover. read more

Stayed at an Airbnb right across from the cafe for the weekend. We lucked out because this cafe was AMAZING. We ended up there multiple times before we headed into asbury for a festival. Breakfast wraps, the south of the border is a MUST. Lunch, you cannot leave without trying the fish tacos. Some of the best I have ever had. The restaurant itself is super cute, outdoor seating is great because you are right on the water. The staff, mike in particular is a real gem. Great guy. Would 10/10 recommend stopping in. read more

The perfect spot for a Taylor Ham and egg breakfast sandwich on a warm sunny morning. Sitting outside at a table under an umbrella is one of the most delightful experiences at the Jersey Shore. I got the mahi mahi tacos and they are some of the best tacos I've ever had. The first was really great. Fresh and delicious. The second was mediocre because they used a non-fresh (maybe a day or two old) roll, which made a good sandwich not very good. Fair warning: this is a counter service little cafe. This is not really a sit down, eat in restaurant. Was not at all what we expected. No bar, no alcohol, no real ambiance. Plastic tables, paper plates. Food was ok, but over priced. My husband and I both had fish tacos. They tasted good but not the best I have ever had. My suggestion to them would be to use a slotted spoon when putting the salsa and slaw on the tacos. They were super soggy and leaked so much liquid that we had so sop it up with napkins so we could eat the tortilla chips without them being soggy also. They did appear to have a sit down restaurant attached but weren't using it. Might go back during the season to see if they actually do have sit down service. read more

The food here is awful. The high prices add insult to injury. I got taken in by the(now obviously self delusional) "best fish sandwich on the Jersey Shore" sign The sandwich($14) was terrible. Basically a plain piece of what was advertised as grouper but was more likely yesterday's tilapia. Served on a tasteless dry roll. And handed to you on a pile of stale tortilla chips. Yum! Other comments from our group: Worst burger ever I think the chicken is bad This salsa tastes sour If this place wasn't right on the inlet it would have gone out of business long ago.
