Hands down, for years this has been one of my favorite places to eat of the surrounding towns. Why, you ask? Well, the answer is simple, it's really just good bar food, but nothing that would change your life. It's comfortable, but no more than any other bar/restaurants. What makes this place so great is that it consistently has a great vibe and really nice people who actually seem to care about their jobs. Everyone is polite, and does what they can, to accommodate you in whatever way they can. The food also alway above average. Anchor Burgers are great. Very good fish and chips. What a surprise! My sister, who has so many food allergies and sensitivities as well as being a celiac, had her own menu filled with options that delighted her. She had a Baja bowl without chicken. She ordered a small cup of chili on the side to add to her bowl. She loved it! I had the pulled pork bowl, which was delicious, especially the bbq ranch sauce! Our friends went with the burgers and were licking their fingers. To finish off, we shared one slice of absolutely fabulous flourless chocolate cake. I must mention our server, who said she was subbing in the bar today. She was so good & treated us so well even though we waited for a long time for the rest of our party to arrive. very nice staff. fish and chips. disgusting. the texture of the fries - chewy? not good. the fish inedible. discolored! some grey, some off-white. sunken in from the overcooked batter leaving you with just batter. wasn't interested in trying something else. what the hell could be going on in the kitchen management to put out that kind of a meal. said nothing, just won't eat there again. Our bartender, Becca, was rude and inappropriate. She blatantly ignored a member of our party, thinking she was underage. After serving a drink (that another party member ordered) she rudely stopped her from drinking and asked if she was 21. No issue with the question, its the manner in which the customer was ignored then rudely asked instead of the bartender doing her due dilligence. It left our friend embarrassed and upset at the way she was treated. Do better next time and avoid this as a whole. read more

First, our server, Rachel, was very pleasant and attentive. Everything was downhill from there. Ordered fried zucchini. It was soggy and greasy. Also ordered sweet potato tots which were equally soggy and mushy. A 12 year old can make a decent chicken quesadilla, but not the chef/cook at this place. On the plus side, the place is very nice in general. Nice outdoor seating. With better good the place could be great, but as is, it's far below marginal. It's on a very busy corner and there is lots of honking due to heavy traffic, but that's not the restaurant's fault. I felt bad for the band, who was playing outside. They were very good. Braving the whipping winds, cold temps and rain going sideways as quoted by Ollie Williams, we stopped in to this wonderful gem. Upon entering this fine establishment the cozy atmosphere warmed us to the core. Friendly staff were also nearby to chat up and talk life. To take nourishment we ordered the cowboy sliders. Perfect flavor of bbq sauce, Mac and cheese and bacon on great patties. Each bite made me feel more and more like I was becoming Butch Cassidy and I was looking across the table at the Sundance kid. Highly suggest ordering this tasty chow, just be aware afterwards you may be putting on your stirrups to mosey on out! What do you call a pig that gets injured stretching? Pulled pork.... The flavor was smoky and the bun was toasted to perfection. Portion size was large and filling. Fries were plentiful on the side. Pork tacos and sweet potato fries. The tortilla was fresh and the pico delicious. The pork had great seasoning and juicyness in the cook. Definitely try it and enjoy your meal. Good place with great staff. Must visit! read more

I have a nostalgic like for Anchor, been coming for awhile. Last night wife and I sat at the bar for dinner, which was 'tails and 3 apps. Just great attentive service by our barkeep. Fried pickles...ok I'm kind of a connoisseur of this dish...I will give props for originality and taking a risk...but horseradish sauce just doesn't work. Buffalo wings are slow cooked over a flame and they are every bit as good as the traditional deep fried variety, and much better for you...actually healthy. Steak bites? The menu claims they are pieces of filet. Dude you're not fooling anyone. Stop insulting me. What is the worst cut of steak? Chuck? London Broil? These things are for the most part unchewable, inedible. read more

This is one of the most consistent restaurants I have been too. In addition, the quality is the same even when you order delivery. Typically Mac and cheese is sub par at restaurants but this is creamy and delicious. The chicken is good but sometimes it can be a little dry. The gravy is home made and always tastes fantastic and the short rib grilled cheese is a must try!! This is my new favorite spot around and I don't say that lightly. The bar overall is average. The main problem is watching sports with dated televisions. Almost all televisions have many burnt out led's and has ruined the watching experience. They are the original televisions. Many people I know pointed out the problem but it was laughed at. It's been two years since they've been aware and ignored it. I live locally and finally stopped in for dinner last night. We were seated outside right away and the service was very good. We both had the rotisserie chicken which is what they are known for. I must say I was not very impressed. The chicken was on the dry side and nothing on the plate was hot including the sides. It was lukewarm at best. I'm not a fan of corn bread but I've definitely had better. The brussel sprouts had good flavor but tasted like they were reheated. The broccoli side was steamed perfectly but it was also not very hot. Perhaps this was just an off night and the food is usually better. Absolute, grapefruit, splash of cranberry and a lime and a Margarita. Excellent. Fish and chips. Salmon. The food came right out. The fish and chips suffered from too much time in the fryer. Very dry. The salmon suffered from too much time under or on whatever it was cooked in or on. But we were starving and did not complain. Definitely an excellent drink spot. Really enjoyed my first trip to the Anchor - we arrived for lunch on a Friday and they did a great job with social distancing protocols. It rained like the end of the world during our meal, and the team was quick to move umbrellas and make sure we were all good. The beer list was solid, and the cocktails all looked good. We enjoyed appetizers and I thought the turkey club was exceptional - the turkey was perfectly prepared and the sandwich was a huge winner. I kept coming to the Yelp page for the Anchor and saying ehhhh since the reviews are sort of bad. However, we finally decided to try it. Much to my surprise, it was a very good experience all around. The food portions are large, and you will leave full. My personal favorite is the white meat portion of chicken that comes with your choice of two sides, plus cornbread. The appetizers are also good, we've tried the nachos and quesadilla and both were on point. Outdoor seating is cute and relaxing, and there is an outdoor bar as well. read more

Aesthetically this place is pretty cool. They have a great outside area and a cool interior. Televisions galore are available to watch whatever sport might be playing that day. There is a good beer selection to choose from. You won't be disappointed. Unfortunately where the disappointment did click in for me was over the food. It just wasn't as good as I had anticipated for a place like this. I ordered the Bacon Blue Burger and it just didn't taste right to me. There wasn't anything wrong with it per se, but it just wasn't that good. When I go to a bar I typically expect to get an amazing burger ... and that wasn't what I had here. In reading other reviews post my experience, I'm seeing Anchor Tavern is known for its rotisserie chicken ... wish I had known that prior to stopping in as I would have ordered that instead. Stopped in for a few drinks before 10 pm on a Thursday in the winter. By no means crowded bUt lovey enough. The bar tender was friendly and speedy. Grabbed a beer a few cocktails and a key lime pie. I went into this restaurant for a drink and food by myself. There was an older gentleman who was trying to get my attention. Shortly after he was talking to me he said he had to go to the bathroom . He was a creep. The bartender told me to go talk to these other strangers because he was a creep and always does this at this bar. Shortly after this, the bartender told me I could leave and would be escorted out because of this older gentlemen's behavior. They told me to leave through the back door and escorted me to my car. If I am being honest. What I heard and learned from this was ; you , as a well behaved woman, have to leave because of someone else's poor behavior . I also heard from the employees that this customer always does this. I learned from this that, that man is a regular. What this place told me was , basically that since he is a regular and keeps the doors open , he is more valuable than me. I am being punished for his behavior. I don't appreciated it. I feel that since I was made uncomfortable by a man, that he should have been forced to leave, especially if he has made other women uncomfortable before. I am never coming back here . Good luck to them. I have never felt like a weak person but .. tbh these people made me feel this way. I know this may sound bizarre because some people would look at this and say hey, they were protecting you. However, I believe if they valued me they would have made him leave and escorted him out. Went here earlier in the week w/ my partner for our anniversary dinner. We ordered the chicken quesadilla as our appetizer & for my meal I ordered the caprese grilled cheese. It came w/ fries & a pickle. My partner got a steak sandwich w/ the same sides. Everything came out perfect & delicious! Just wish the tomato was roasted on my sandwich but that's just a personal suggestion. Also, I ordered a drink, which took a little longer than expected to come out but was very refreshing nonetheless. The manager was so kind to offer it on the house since I had to wait. Staff were super nice & I love the outside seating ambience. Will definitely be back when I find myself in the area :) read more
