Visited again in warmer times. Great live music was happening and the warm Reese's were flowing. Hard working staff. Good ice cold beers. The setup for outdoor live music is not optimal though. While everyone is on the deck the band is setup below deck at the edge of the parking lot. There's got to be a better way to do this. Hope they can figure this out, otherwise all is island vibe good. read more

The Wharf is your typical Jersey Shore restaurant the food is good but over priced. Went there twice in the last two weeks, once with friends and the other for my Anniversary. Had the stuffed flounder, it was very good. The second time I had the fisherman's platter. It was good but I really don't like a lot of fried food. My fault! The Manhattan clam chowder is outstanding. Just the soup alone is worth the experience. The service is very good the waitresses work very hard. All have great personalities making dining a pleasure. Last, you can't beat the ambiance overlooking the River watching the sun go down at night. read more

We recently attended the wharf, not expecting much, but we're presently surprised. The quality of the food surpassed our expectations and was very reasonably priced. The chef's signature pesto steak was huge, and beautifully prepared on the rare side. The tequila, chicken, another chef, specialty, Was full of a delicious cream sauce and copious amounts of chicken and pasta. The muscles from Fra Diablo were beautifully presented and had just the right amount of heat. Muscles were on the large size. This will be your new hidden gem. read more

If you order the "Steak Tips-AU Poivre", don't expect au poivre. No cognac, no peppercorns, no shallots and I doubt they used heavy cream. It's more like a "crumbled cheese (bleu maybe?) sauce". If they named it what it IS rather than trying to pass it off as au poivre, it would be fine. The steak tips were cooked perfectly (though 1 of 5 pieces was grizzle). read more

I really like The Wharf. The chef does a great job and the live music is really enjoyable sitting out on the deck. They are struggling with their help right now (hostesses and waitresses seem inexperienced) and I hope they can resolve that issue. read more

Small dated menu, nothing vegan or vegetarian. I ordered the Taco Shell Salad without the chicken and the cucumbers were clear, so they were rotten. They could at least offer a veggie burger, how simple is that? How are you supposed to enjoy a drink or two and live music without any food?! read more

I have been a fan of the Whatf, formally the Marina, for 10 years and I love the place. I was thrilled to see it had opened under a new owner. Went with a frown on Sunday July 13 and was so disappointed!!! The food was not just bad, it was awful!!!! Terrible tough chicken on a roll ( sandwich bread not avalilable) and dish water coffee. A very limited menu and uncaring staff finished it off. This fan is no longer a fan. I am angry that this lovely spot is betrayed again I will not return unless I hear good news about quality improvements are made. Please new owner. CARE!!!!! read more

Went there for lunch, its a nice place for lunch, beer and relaxing music by the inlet. Service a little slow, but good. Food is good too

STAY AWAY!! Was told the wait would be 40 minutes. After an hour and 15 minutes we told them we were leaving so they sat us immediately. It took a while for the waiter to come to the table and we finally placed our orders. There were 2 of us and we ordered wings and a cheeseburger and 30 minutes later, still no food so we left. An hour and 45 minutes and we left hungry. They allow people to sit at tables who aren't eating to listen to the music. They shouldn't be allowed to take tables if they're not eating. Ok first to get the one good thing out of the way...the vibe is nice. Live music is great but it was a little loud where i felt as if i was yelling at my server for my order. It was a Monday and many tables were open but took about 15-20 mins to get water and first round of drinks. Before we ordered we saw the table next to use with wings and asked them how they were and they said they were undercooked. With that, we started off with the calamari which was very salty and the tuna nachos which was actually really good and I wish we left after that. While waiting for our food we saw multiple people complaining about what they got or the food they ordered, not a good sign. For our entrees my dad got the chicken sandwich and all he got was a piece of bread and an overcooked piece of chicken, he had to ask for lettuce and tomato? My mom got the chicken panini and it was just chicken and spinach on a toasted Kaiser roll, no actual panini. We sent it back thinking she got the wrong order but the server came back and said that's it's the kitchens version of a panini. My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich not much to complain except that it was salty. I got the grilled shrimp spinach and strawberry salad. It was good, but I wouldn't get a salad again at this place. Overall I don't think I will be back again unless there's word of a new chef. I give this place maybe a year to get on its feet because it is a good place to be at just needs better service and food. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!! AWFUL I have been to a great deal of restaurants in my lifetime here and abroad and have several close friends who are owners of excellent restaurants in Monmouth County. I have never had such a bad experience or have been treated with such disrespect and contempt than I received today at the Wharf in Oceanport from the new owner of the restaurant , a sloppy, unkempt, low class person vulgar individual who actually said "F@#k you" to my face. I went there with a family party of 7 for the first time. The reviews were few and mixed. We found the food to be subpar. The sizes of the portions were ridiculously small. We ordered a calamari appetizer that was not only minuscule but was chewier than bubble gum. The main courses were extremely small and bland tasting The Burgers were thin, overcooked and all bun and were served with about 7 frenchfries a dish. The salads were also small, plain with a few strips of chicken. I realize that the restaurant is new and has growing pains so after our meal I wanted to talk to the manager so he would know what is going on in his kitchen, The waiter told that he spoke to him and he did not have time for me, I found that to be unacceptable and went to find him. When I found him Instead of taking a minute to hear my concerns, he told me to "get lost, he's busy" and walked away yelling "FUCK YOU" Real professional. Not only did we pay alot for an awful dinner, but I was thereafter forced to experience such indignity at the hands of a person who is supposed to be in the "people" business. So PLEASE, do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague, There are so many better restaurants on the immediate area such as the Beach Tavern, Eventide, MJs, Blue Grotto Beer Garden and Zacaharys. If you do go, stay away from the owner for your own good. read more

This place just reopened (formerly The Marina At Oceanport). The soft opening appeared to be highly successful! The place was jam packed and the limited opening menu was fantastic. The quality of the food was excellent. The servers were attentive in this busy place and always had smiles on their faces. This was my first time I vivited this restaurant, and I was not t all impressed. If they put you near the the fireplace it is very comfortable. However, this restaurant is not ready for prime time. I ordered a steak special and asked if it could be prepared "Pittsburg style." The waitress consulted the cook and responded "yes." I doubt the cook knew what "Pittsburg" means. It was in no way prepared as I requested. The entree was mediocre. Everything was served on plastic, including the "silverware." I asked if they had a lot of bar fights there. The waitress told me the pipes were frozen. This affected the presentation, ability o appreciate the food, and the taste of the drinks. Needless to say I was not impressed with the Wharf. The dessert was good. It was actually the only thing presented in a glass receptacle. The parking lot was plowed, but no one cared to put rock salt on the ice patches. I tripped and fell on my face in the parking lot. I tried calling the manager, but no one picked up the phone. This restaurant is just not prepared. read more
