[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

On a day visit to Sea Cliff, we were delighted to come across Campground Craft Beer Market…read more The down stairs is a very European style, open space with a cozy lounge area near the sunny window and a community table into the room. There was a cool sign that reset every now and then as a train station would, with different messages & details. Upstairs, you'll find another very European style cafe with open sides that are ground level with ample space for gatherings and I am sure, even music. On this day, there was to be an Oktoberfest, but we were a few hours early and did not return to see how it was, but I bet it was a nice event. Nice coffee menu, interesting and unique signature drinks..one of which was a Shakerato..get this Espresso, condensed milk, saline, orange shaken and poured over ice. it was so delicate and well made, the subtle hint of orange and a gentle sweetness. There is a small menu, and some baked goods. A place like this in such a beautiful setting makes me want to leave closer, but thankful this is only a reasonable car ride away. Between Still Partners and The Onion Tree, there is certainly reason to return again soon.

The staff have always been friendly and extremely knowledgeable; it is really handy when you can say you live in San Francisco, what do you have that I can only get out here? You can tell it is a good place in Hell's Kitchen/Times Square when stage hands and actors actually come by after (definitely not between) their shows. They also have whiskeys available here as a sidecar; definitely do not try and order any other liquors, the back of their staff shirt makes that clear. For food, I've only ever had the cheese curds because I obviously have a problem and can't get them at many places in SF. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. My only feedback to them is maybe offer some large format bottle pours on busy nights so people can try some of the more obscure options.

Got a nice dose of dive bar and it was exactly what I was looking for. The place is small, it is loud, there is a good selection of beers on tap and some more on bottles/cans from the fridge. Bartenders are just the right amount of "if you're not a regular you're fine but you're not special" and chatty friendly. What you'd expect from a hole in the wall with decently cheap beer (compared to just a block or two over).
