Like many other guests I have suffered the renovation blues at Riverhouse. I booked my room in January for a convention. I arrived with confirmation in hand and waited in a long line of attendees to check in. When my turn arrived I was told there was no room for me. Why not bust off an email or phone call when you are cancelling on a guest Riverhouse? Very poor customer service from the desk staff who just seemed wryly amused by the whole thing with no empathy for the displaced, tired, hungry people. I am unlikely to ever stay here in the future. Sad. read more

My husband and I were looking for a decent hotel we could go to for our anniversary and we needed someplace that was pet friendly. The Riverhouse looked nice and I booked a room with a river view. The room itself was clean, but worn looking. The bathroom had been updated with newer fixtures but it had several issues. The tub didn't drain properly. The light switches were miswired in the bathroom so that both turned on the overhead light and neither turned on the light over the mirror. The toilet required holding down the handle to get most things to go down. It was nice to have a balcony, but the sliding door didn't latch (thankfully there was a security bar). The screen door was warped and came off the track with the slightest touch so it couldn't be used to keep bugs out. The river view is real, but also the hotel is close to major roads so the noise from traffic, and room air conditioners, tended to drown out the sound of the water. You could walk your dog near the river, but with all the brush I was concerned about ticks. We went to local parks instead. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and there was a microwave and fridge. If the room had been half the price I wouldn't be so disappointed. But for $250 a night it wasn't a place I'd recommend. read more

The resort is very nice looking and the rooms were spacious and clean. The indoor pool was a little dark, dank, and uninviting. They have pet friendly rooms and a dog run area that is convenient if you're traveling with a four legged friend. I had to take it down a few stars because their in-house restaurant Currents sent our 5 year old daughter to the ER because of their carelessness. If you care to read the full details, visit the "Currents" page on Yelp. The general manager of the resort assured me there would be changes to make sure nobody had to go through the hell that we had to endure during our stay in Bend. It's a shame that the restaurant had to ruin what otherwise could have been a very nice stay at Riverhouse. read more

Rooms are large and corporate, the river location is incredible, staff is overall very friendly; however the hotel is right across a Hobby Lobby/commercial sort of mall which does take away from the charm and very near the freeway. Breakfast was great and the seating at the restaurant was very covid cautious and appreciated. Check-in could have been better from a crowd control perspectiev. It would probably be between a 3.5 overall. read more

Super friendly on check in. The front desk did not have a map to show us where our room was, only the building. Fortunately there were a couple staff people on a motorized cart that said follow them. In further navigating the property it was clear that this was at one time a run down Holiday Inn or Best Western- I could be wrong? It took me a long time to get the salon shampoo I provided out of my hair. They owners gave the property a facelift without addressing the cancer in the walls. I scalded myself trying to wipe my face off. The pop up assembly on my sink was broken so the water would not drain on my sink. We booked a stay for 2 nights - we were provided towels for only 1 night. We ate brunch and dinner at the on site restaurant and had a mid day cocktail too. Our brunch was nice and our dinner and cocktails overlooking the Deschutes Rive was so relaxing. My husband had a hearty appetite for dinner and ordered several cocktails, dinner, dessert, and a Spanish coffee, I had a Caesar with Chicken-and several beers. Between our brunch and mid day (1) cocktail and beer our bill came to almost $100 - I bet my husband our big dinner, cocktails, appetizers and after dinner drinks was going to be double what we spent earlier-I lost. Dinner was owe some , our waiterTim was great and the view and sound of the Deschutes River made for a fantastic dinner. Hotel is a nice work in progress but not done. It looks like they started a pool side beverage bar but never completed it. One more thing the refrigerator in the room, despite turning up, only cooled medium. When I opened it up Water from the freezer and in frozen ice cubes came rushing out on the floor. Disappointed Portlanders looking to get out of PDX for lots of sun and warm weather Kind of a let down The bigger let down was when we were in the hot tub talking with couple who was fortunate for their parents for to watch their four kids 1-12 yrs so their parents could have some connecting time. That was nice until a dozen or more lesbians showed up in the pool and began getting sexually with each other- grouping and kissing I front of us. They have a right to express themselves but in my opinion not in an environment where there are families. This hotel needs to come up with a policy regarding same sex physical contact - same sex or not in front of minors Maybe this hotel should have a safe place for lesbians and gay men so families can enjoy family time read more

As a pet owner, I totally appreciated this hotel!!! Easy to get a reservation and room, the rooms are very well decorated and very clean. My 4YO enjoyed the pool early morning. Loved having the river right off the porch (as we had a first floor room). And our dog, Mr Nosey, was so happy about that as well - great for his morning walk and playtime. We will be back in the summer for sure!!!! read more

A stunning setting for a wonderful hotel! We stayed one night here, and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. The lounge adjacent to the hotel was amazing (featuring live music and great people). After a nice evening we awoke in the morning to beautiful views of the river from our room and a gentleman fly fishing the river off in the distance. Brunch was served in an outdoor patio setting adjacent to the river. Absolutely awesome! read more

Plus'....Nice hotel, up-to-date interior, clean, nice restaurant, good food and service, and right on the river. Minus'....My main complaint, is that they have almost no, tourist attractions listed in their hotel room binder. Aside from a couple of guided tours on the river (which I'm sure are great in the Summer), Mt. bachelor info, a fun center and a museum, they offer NOTHING else for a traveler who doesn't know the area. All of that would be great, except, this area has SO much more to offer! I was really disappointed with the lack of information. I'm a photographer, and try to take advantage of every opportunity I have, to capture Oregon's beauty. The information this hotel provided, would NOT, help me in that pursuit. read more

We stayed at Riverhouse during our recent honeymoon on Bend..Just left today. I work in travel so have pretty high expectations and often disappointed, but I was thrilled with our room and the service. We could not have asked for a better honeymoon suite. We booked a Spa room that had a nice big two person jetted tub right by the king size bed with mirrors around it (which didn't look cheesy at all), a wood burning fireplace (with Duraflame logs supplied) and a balcony with two chairs overlooking the Deschutes river to drink the champagne they gave us. It was heaven listening to the river at night & the fire made it so romantic. The only slightly negative thing was that our room did not have a phone and cell reception was bad, and even though we advised several times, did not get one. Also, our toilet was broken the entire time so we had to remove tank cover and manually fix it every time we used it. I think they would've sent someone to fix if wet had been more insistent...after second time requesting, we decided it was no big deal and still 5 stars as everything else was fantastic. They also gave us two free drink coupons for first night on the bar, free breakfast (which was pretty basic but nice to have each day and drive was friendly), free wi-fi, discount golf at nearby Rivers Edge, nice comfy robes in room. We will definitely be back for our 1st anniversary! Oh, also, we had dinner at Crossings on our first night and food was great, but service was even better. I can't recall our servers name but I think he was originally from Romania. He gave us a lot of local tips as well as just fun to chat with! Thank you Riverhouse for such a memorable honeymoon!! read more

Hello - This is Mike again. The Riverhouse Restaurant. As you can tell, I expected more. This property has never gotten it right. Beautiful setting on the river, but everything else was mediocre. The food was small portions, and only average quality. The service was still slow at best. This was my last trip to the Riverhouse. Buyer beware! read more

Ok hotel. Rooms were ok, plenty large enough for our family but the amenities and service made give it only two stars. No elevators anywhere and the beds are really high; if you aren't at least 5'4 you may have a problem getting into the bed. The balcony was nice but covered in bird poop so we never went out there. When we called down for new towels they told us that someone would bring some by, they never did. When we asked for the sofa bed to be made up they simply dropped off the sheets and blanket and left. Definitely not up to Embassy Suites standards. The restaurant for breakfast was a shitshow. The elderly hostess really didn't want to be there and while the waiter was very kind he completely messed up our order. We would not stay there again. read more

We have loved the Riverhouse since the mid 80's when my husband played music there. We even got married here. It's just not the same unfortunately. We stayed so we didn't have to "drink and drive" after a holiday party. Food was mediocre to say the least. The room was way over priced. They should think about locals discount. A barking dog woke us up at 6:30am. Seriously? Pretty disappointed. Used to love the place. Bummed. read more

Stayed for a conference. My reservation was canceled in error by the front desk, due to their error they worked to find me accommodations however I had to move from one room to another during my stay. The first room was a suite with river view. It was clean, the decor is a bit dated and worn. The hot water was not working properly so I ended having lukewarm showers. The second room was a king room with river view. This one was also very clean. There are no elevators so rooms on the upper floors require you to haul suitcases upstairs. read more

Old and tired, past it's prime. New carpet is the only change we have seen the rooms we have stayed in. Resturant is nice and the river views are nice. The hotel staff when we checked must have felt put out by our arrival, their attitude left much to be desired. read more

I needed a pet friendly hotel to stay in for the night as I was passing through town. This was the first one that came up when I searched google, and I'm so glad it was! I'm in the process of moving to Washington from California and my cat and I needed a place to stay for the night, when I called to ask if cats were okay, she said it didn't specify that it was. So I asked her if she knew any hotels that would be able to accept my cat and she couldn't find any. She made an exception for me (please don't get her in trouble!) and I was so thankful she saved my night! I was already super happy with how friendly and helpful Caitlyn was towards me. (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) When I arrived to the hotel, Mac checked me in and she was so sweet and adorable and perfect customer service. The next morning I was trying to leave but my cat had other ideas of hiding under the bed, not letting me get her into her crate. I tried for over an hour every trick I could think of. I called animal control, the humane society, even my MOM. Nobody could help me. I called the front desk to tell them my situation, and they sent a great man named Jack to save the day. Not only did he get my cat into the crate, the amount of relief he gave me was just overwhelming. The women at the front desk as I was checking out were so friendly and kind to my situation. Thank you Jen and Jess. Overall, everyone I ran into that works here has gone above and beyond their job duties. They are good people and if I ever pass through Bend again, 100% staying here. Thank you all! read more

Not our favorite stop, the hotel is made up of multiple buildings, looks like a few old hotels/motels now gathered into one. We stayed in the 2200 building, the sign outside gives the room numbers and a sign that says 'no pets'. You enter the building and are hit with the smell of piss. I'm told it's the cleaner (for the carpet, I'm not sure). Get into the room (king suite with a pull out sofa bed). Room is clean and neat, a plus. Had to call for linens for the sofa bed (not a big deal). AC gets the room nice and cold (a plus in my book). The indoor pool is the only option during these COVID times (understandable and thankful it's actually open), but it's dirty. You can see a ton of hair in the pool, it's cloudy and the power seems to have stopped in the jacuzzi today. While at the pool my husband received a call from the front desk, about a noise complaint. He asked if it was the incessantly barking dog across the hall from us (no pets remember?), but no it was our running 3 year old that was disturbing in the middle of the day. Summing up, maybe good for you if traveling without kiddos, but with dogs. read more

Booked a room for a night and then attempted to cancel the reservation 3 days ahead of time. Called three times and was repeatedly transferred to a phone line that nobody answers and left voicemails each time to cancel it. Nobody called me back. Then, the day of the reservation, they actually charged my credit card. read more

Serious SAFETY WARNING please read: Took my girlfriend and friends here for a birthday celebration. Friends room smelled like cat pee and dog hair first of all. Hot tub was filthy also. Our room had food debris on floor from previous guest. Then, after going out for the evening we returned to discover that our patio door had been broken into by a BURGLAR. All of my girlfriends clothes and birthday gifts were stolen. My medication was stolen also. The lock on the door handle does not latch the door. Assistant manager blamed us for not knowing the door doesn't latch. Apparently we were supposed to know door only can lock by propping a metal stick in the door. My girlfriend was literally scared to even sleep at this place. We have lost over a 1000 dollars of belongings. Manager refused to comp our room or offer a free nights stay. Only solution was to file a police report he said. Still have not received link for insurance claim yet either. We have been coming here for years but I will never come here again. I value safety, cleanliness, customer service and not being victimized too much. I would strongly recommend doing your research on this place and don't bring valuables into the rooms if you do stay here. read more

We stayed in one of the rooms in the Red Fox building on the lower level with a beautiful river view. There was tons of snow. Nice and spacious indoor pool and hot tub. Dillon from the front desk was so helpful when making our reservations and checking us in. Beautiful hotel with river views, pleasant staff, and great customer service. Definitely recommend. read more

Be careful if you're here on business. My husband's company booked the room months ago with the company card. When we checked in, they asked for a credit card for incidentals like all hotels do. They then overrode the company card that night without verifying with us and charged our personal credit card $500 for the stay. When we told them about the error the very next day, the girl at the front desk said there was nothing they could do and we would need to figure it out with our company. Completely unprofessional and very frustrating. Nice room though. The restaurant has good food and drinks but they were super busy and kind of neglectful. read more

The staff at the front desk were amazing. They were friendly and smiling when they welcomed me after a long ten hour drive. This meant a lot to me. They also helped me stay in the wonderful river view room with fireplace after I loved my first night. I booked through hotels.com and they were able to match their price. I felt the love. I also could not start the microwave and the guy came quickly to help me out and made me feel better about why I could not start it. Lol.... tricky. Now to be honest the outside hallway can be very loud when people allow their kids to run up and down the hall. I was fortunate they were not next to my room and no barking dogs next to me. I think dog owners should be segregated so not to bother others. I love dogs but not the barking and whining. Oh, they also texted me to ensure all was going well. Excellent customer service. read more

Significantly overpriced. Room had so many challenges - TV did not work, fan would not turn off, toilet was too tall to sit on, coffee pot was nice, but on a tall bureau so that it was not accessible. Ate at Currents - atmosphere on the river deck was fabulous. Food was bland and very overpriced - and service was incredibly slow. Advertised that wifi was included - it was not. Resort fee is charged (i.e. room price is higher than advertised). Overall this was a disappointing stay, and significantly overpriced for the quality of the room. read more

My husband and I came to Bend for our honeymoon. We had an issue with the AirBNB we originally booked for our stay. We showed up to the Riverhouse with no reservations and were desperate for them to turn our honeymoon around. The staff was incredibly accommodating, helpful, and ensured we got a great deal and room for our stay. They went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We got to our room and it was beautiful. Very modern, cozy, and clean. We enjoyed having the river right outside our room, and a restaurant right on the property. I would highly recommend staying here! Gorgeous property! We are very impressed with everything here. read more

Recently stayed in a double queen riverfront room. Very clean, big, updated, and excellent view. Pool and hot tub was a short walk across Parking lot and very nice. Winter and snowy out so only the indoor was open but it was a very nice heated and large pool and likewise hot tub. Beautiful bar for a quick drink and close to many places to eat. I'd definitely stay here again but river view only. read more

A last minute cancellation led us to looking for a room. Riverhouse had available pet friendly rooms and they offered to price match the rates available online. This stay was much better than my last and it started with a smooth and quick check in. The room was clean and we had no problems at all. The employees did a good job in the morning taking care of the inch and a half of snow that fell and melting the ice. read more

Absolutely disgraceful. We booked a "pet friendly" room because we brought our champion show dog with us. Upon entering the room, our petless friends (who booked a room down the hall), immediately commented on how the room smelled like animal urine. Keep in mind, please, that our highly trained canine companion had not yet entered the room. My husband walked out onto our balcony, and commented on how it was so rotted he felt like he was going to fall through it. We (embarrassingly) shrugged it off. Bed time---- The mattresses are as hard as a rock. The Flintstones would have been uncomfortable. In fact, at 3 am and after 6 hours of excruciating pain, I hauled my rear to the sofa, which was not any better. After this, I'm no longer embarrassed to say that we've stayed at Motel 6-ish type of places (booked by our thrifty employers) that have had wayyyy more luxurious beds. Third strike? Breakfast. We were seated outdoors. We sat for 22 minutes (my husband timed it) before we were even acknowledged. It was NOT busy. The server visited her other tables for refills THREE times each before she even breathed a word to us. I asked my husband twice if we could just leave and eat elsewhere. 20 minutes later (now 15 minutes until checkout) we received our undercooked and inedible food. We ate the edible parts and hauled ass back to our room to check out. Thank Dog, because the maid was literally cleaning out the rooms 2 doors down. Don't stay here unless you enjoy bad service, cheap furniture, and food that tastes like it was reheated out of a 7-11 dumpster. This place was probably 3 stars in 1981. read more

Stayed here on the last leg of a family vacation and was very disappointed. Upon checking in the staff was rude. They gave my husband a hard time because the room was booked in my name. We never had this problem at the otehr hotels we stayed at during the vacation. She also gave him attitude about booking through Expedia. Upon entering the room, we found that one of the lamps flickered, there was trash still in the bathroom trash can, the towels had rust stains and the bathtub had stains too. The room was also expensive for what you go. We had a queen room and the bed seemed more like a double. To be fair, we did not ask to be moved to a new room, which I am sure they would have accommodated. By the time we noticed the issues, we had unloaded our luggage and our 2 year old after a 6 hour drive. The best part was the DVD player. There was also ample hot water. The desk and chair were also nice. I would not stay here again if I return to Bend. read more

My husband was scheduled for a conference, with accommodations at Riverhouse. We drove 4 hours to get there, only to find that there was no reservation. I showed front staff our paperwork and they said, "Oh, you definitely have a room. No problem." They were very nice and reassured me our card would not be charged, since we had paper work showing we had accommodations with them. I thought the issue was resolved. Almost 3 MONTHS LATER WE WERE CHARGED for our stay there. I spoke with Bern, the General Manager. He inadvertently questioned my honesty as I shared with him that our paperwork stated the conference covered our accommodations. We will not return to Riverhouse, regardless of their new remodel. Three months is way too long to address an issue. read more

They double charged my card after I said I would pay the incidentals fee in cash and cash for the room. They didn't tell me it was 60$ "per night" for incidentals so I put it on my card. Very nice rooms. Clean and comfortable. 2 stories. No elevator but there are several buildings so some may have elevators. The river view rooms are $30 more so since it was only for one night we opted for the less expensive room. It faced the parking lot . I asked if they had anything with a better view and we were given a second story view of the trees surrounding the pool area which was very nice. Be sure to ask what the view is as there are several options although they fill up fast. They were full when we tried to book on our way home. Beautiful restaurant with outside table next to the river. Good food and drinks. Indoor and outdoor pools with a area for clean pool towels and a bin for used. Nice atmosphere. I'd stay there again. read more

I wish I would have looked on yelp first. I picked this hotel for reviews on priceline and the restaurant located on the property. This hotel is a tale of two cities. Very polar. You either get great customer service, or it's horrible. I would only stay here if I had to again. I would expect a good stay, but some unnecessary disappointment. When I made my reservation I requested 2 rooms close in proximity since we were traveling with a one year old that needed to nap. I was told then and at checkin our rooms were very close. They were anything but. They placed us on opposite sides of the building. But they did somewhat fix the issue. The room service staff was rude and I had to complain. The GM was very apologetic. The room service closes and stops serving at 9PM so don't expect to get a late night bite if u miss dinner for travel issues or a late excursion. No late night night menu. Poor customer service. I was pulling luggage, another bag, a baby bag and carrying a baby and the cleaning staff cleaning the glass door I was entering through stopped cleaning the door and instead of helping me open the door just watched me struggle with the door. The rooms are very large and nice, but they have very bad customer service and business profession. read more

I understand that COViD 19 has made things difficult for a lot of businesses but this place has used the virus for an excuse for terrible service. We stayed in a room last night with a queen bed and a sofa bed. When we checked in we realized there were no sheets for the sofa bed. We also need coffee for the coffee machine and an extra towel. We called at 7:30 to request these items. We called at 8:00 to see if they were coming. We called at 9:00 and again at 9:30. They assured us they were coming. I made up the sofa bed for my son with a picnic blanket and beach towels from our vehicle. The items never arrived an no one contacted us. When we complained upon check out, the supervisor casually said she was sorry and blamed the virus. I'm sorry but if you can't provide linens for a bed then you shouldn't be renting out the room. Thank goodness I booked through a third party app and was able to get my money back. I would not recommend this property to anyone. . . Even someone I didn't like. Terrible!!!! No stars earned.
