Lolo is a Miracle Worker!
I cannot recommend Riverdale Groomers enough, specifically their groomer Lolo, who did a phenomenal job with my dog, Henry!
THE BACKGROUND:
Henry is a 3-year-old Field English Cocker Spaniel with incredibly thick, curly hair .
Henry is an active boy who spends a lot of time off-leash on the trails, which means he constantly collects dirt, burrs, and debris in his coat!
Between our busy schedules and it being over a year since his last professional groom, his fur had truly gotten out of hand .
He had significant matting, especially in tricky areas like his armpits and ears .
Lolo definitely had a lot of work on their hands, but they handled it with an incredible amount of quality care and meticulous attention to detail .
Henry also deals with some codependency and anxiety issues. While we've been to major chains like Petco and PetSmart in the past--and they did a fine job--nothing compares to the quality of work Lolo provided .
Lolo took all of my disclaimers about Henry's temperament to heart and used genuine TLC to ensure he had the best experience possible .
Because Henry has a solid black coat, he attracts a lot of heat , and the weight of the matted curls was really weighing him down . I told Lolo to go "to the leather" (a close shave), and they executed it perfectly while refining the mohawk I requested!
What really blew me away was their availability! Most groomers in the area (and surrounding neighborhoods) are booked out for weeks, if not months. Riverdale Groomers was able to offer me a same-day appointment or a slot just three days later! This is a total lifesaver if you need grooming on short notice, whether you're about to travel or just want your pup looking fresh sooner rather than later .
The communication is also top-tier . They send a text the moment your dog is ready for pickup, and they actually answer the phone when you call! No dealing with annoying AI robots or leaving voicemails that never get returned-ugh.
I'm not sure if they are a family-run business, but they certainly act like one! They truly care about their furry clients and their humans alike .
The price is also super affordable for this level of expertise!
Just a heads-up for new clients: they are CASH ONLY, so make sure you have your cash ready for the service and a well-deserved tip!
While I know that can be a minor inconvenience for some, knowing beforehand makes everything a breeze.
Plus, it's totally understandable--credit card companies charge such high premiums, and by avoiding those fees, this amazing small business can keep their doors open and stay in the community longer!
All in all, Henry came back such a happy dog, clearly relieved to have that heavy coat off! He showed no signs of stress, anxiety, or tension, which made me feel super relieved knowing Henry had been in safe and good hands.
I'm officially done waiting a year between visits--we will be going back to see Lolo on a monthly basis now! read more
