5/5 Stars Ask for Lolo!…read more Lolo is a Miracle Worker! I cannot recommend Riverdale Groomers enough, specifically their groomer Lolo, who did a phenomenal job with my dog, Henry! ‍ THE BACKGROUND: Henry is a 3-year-old Field English Cocker Spaniel with incredibly thick, curly hair . Henry is an active boy who spends a lot of time off-leash on the trails, which means he constantly collects dirt, burrs, and debris in his coat! Between our busy schedules and it being over a year since his last professional groom, his fur had truly gotten out of hand . He had significant matting, especially in tricky areas like his armpits and ears . Lolo definitely had a lot of work on their hands, but they handled it with an incredible amount of quality care and meticulous attention to detail . Henry also deals with some codependency and anxiety issues. While we've been to major chains like Petco and PetSmart in the past--and they did a fine job--nothing compares to the quality of work Lolo provided . Lolo took all of my disclaimers about Henry's temperament to heart and used genuine TLC to ensure he had the best experience possible . Because Henry has a solid black coat, he attracts a lot of heat , and the weight of the matted curls was really weighing him down . I told Lolo to go "to the leather" (a close shave), and they executed it perfectly while refining the mohawk I requested! What really blew me away was their availability! Most groomers in the area (and surrounding neighborhoods) are booked out for weeks, if not months. Riverdale Groomers was able to offer me a same-day appointment or a slot just three days later! This is a total lifesaver if you need grooming on short notice, whether you're about to travel or just want your pup looking fresh sooner rather than later . The communication is also top-tier . They send a text the moment your dog is ready for pickup, and they actually answer the phone when you call! No dealing with annoying AI robots or leaving voicemails that never get returned-ugh. I'm not sure if they are a family-run business, but they certainly act like one! They truly care about their furry clients and their humans alike . The price is also super affordable for this level of expertise! Just a heads-up for new clients: they are CASH ONLY, so make sure you have your cash ready for the service and a well-deserved tip! While I know that can be a minor inconvenience for some, knowing beforehand makes everything a breeze. Plus, it's totally understandable--credit card companies charge such high premiums, and by avoiding those fees, this amazing small business can keep their doors open and stay in the community longer! All in all, Henry came back such a happy dog, clearly relieved to have that heavy coat off! He showed no signs of stress, anxiety, or tension, which made me feel super relieved knowing Henry had been in safe and good hands. I'm officially done waiting a year between visits--we will be going back to see Lolo on a monthly basis now!

This is the same team that used to be Popcorn Pawz -- they've been serving Riverdale for over 15 years. They didn't close, they just rebranded and moved to a smaller space after COVID. Same owners, same groomers, same care. Finding a groomer who is genuinely good with cats is HARD. They are patient, experienced, and calm. My pets come home clean, comfortable, and never stressed. Their top groomer has over 30 years of experience, and it shows. They also offer pickup/drop-off and even insured cage-free boarding, which gives me so much peace of mind. It's a small, local business -- not a big corporation -- and you can feel the difference in how they treat both the animals and the clients. If you're debating between a chain and somewhere that actually knows your pet, this is the place.

Dog owners beware if you want to support a business that will help ALL dogs, pretty funny if you…read moreconsider the name of this institution (the girls who get it, get it, the girls who don't, don't). According to their online description, they may charge extra for "aggressive breeds," and would provide an "assessment" to determine if they can help board them. Well I can tell you that an assessment is a straight up dog breed discrimination. Just mentioning that you would need to house your sweet, friendly pitties and they immediately drop you like a hot potato. No "assessment" provided whatsoever. Just mentioned that the dogs are pit bulls and was given an immediate no. Didn't even see or meet the dogs. Highly unprofessional and irresponsible. Why put up a note that they would seemingly provide service for all kinds of dogs when they clearly don't? Also a quick cursory scroll of the 5star reviews show that they skew towards smaller, "cute" dogs. Further evidence that they are falsely advertising their services. If you can only handle small dogs, please just make that clear so that nobody can waste their time here again. In conclusion: Parents of pitties beware of this place!! And other pet parents-- please make an effort to support pet daycares that will provide service to all dogs, especially if they have done nothing wrong, and have always been good dogs. Will be telling all my dog parents to stay away from this place. See also attached the goodest beans that are looking for quality daycare services that this place clearly does not provide.

I brought my aussie/corgi in for grooming, requesting a haircut styling him a corgi butt and an…read moreaussie head. The haircut was perfect and my dog now looks and smells SO GOOD. Unfortunately, because my dog has trauma from having had his dewclaws removed (I didn't do it to him - he's a rescue) he would not allow the groomer to clip his toenails. They asked us to come in and help but our dog was just so stressed out at that point that we couldn't touch his paws without him going into a panic. This is unfortunate because the main reason I was paying a groomer was to get help with clipping his claws. I just can't do it myself. I guess next time we can try giving him some anti-anxiety medication and see if that works. The groomer did take a little off the price because of not being able to cut his nails. I would recommend this groomer to anyone who has a well-behaved dog who is amenable to being groomed. I would not recommend them if you have an anxious or fearful dog. The haircut itself was really perfect and beautiful. I will probably try another groomer just because I need my dog's claws cut short, but if my dog was better behaved I would go back to this place because they give good haircuts.

THEY CUT A TINY CHUNK OF MY DOGS EAR OFF!…read more I got my dog home and noticed a tiny notch in his ear. I reached out immediately to them, and they let me know that they would investigate and get back to me. I was called back the same day to be told that what I saw on his ear was an old scab that fell off, that they should have let me know when they found it, and apologized that they didn't do that and offered me a free wash for the next time I came in. Also frustrated because I specifically said "i like to keep the little wisp of hair on his ears" basically don't touch the ears. I could literally see where the clippers left stroke marks right at the position of the injury, but I had no proof that it was a new wound until the next day. It happened to be raining pretty heavily, I walked my dog just for a quick pee and come back upstairs, and I noticed blood on the top of his head on the side of his face and realize that his ear is bleeding because the water re-opened the fresh wound they did. Of course I would not be OK with my dog getting hurt in anyway, but I think this situation would've been less infuriating if they took accountability for hurting my dog and not even mentioning it to me when I picked him up, and offering me a free bath as compensation, which I thought was strange if they had done nothing wrong. This place is already ridiculously expensive. They raised their prices and for the $125 that I spent I am extremely upset. I would also like to note: if you go through the photos you'll see quite a few other dogs get nicked or badly cut as well. I wish I looked more closely before. Sad because I've been going there for over a year and a half, I trusted them.

Unless you want to be nickle & dimed, do NOT come to this groomer…read more Very unfortunate to be leaving this review. We've taken our dog to this shop about 4 times in total. The first time the Front Desk communicated that the grooming would be done in 30 minutes and when we came back, she denied ever saying that. The grooming took 4 hours in total. We were very unhappy with this, but the owner graciously gave us a discount so we took it as a gesture of good faith. The 2nd/3rd time were fine, but then our dog ended up at the vet & got an ear infection because we found out that they never cleaned out his ears or plucked his ears so we spent over $1K at the vet. The final time (I know, stupid us for going again), we wanted to see if we could make it work because of the proximity of Bark Shoppe and wanting to truly support local businesses, they charged us a "LATE FEE" for picking up our dog 30 minutes after they called even though they never once disclosed that this policy existed. I emailed their team and instead, their front desk person called us and said "we can't refund this fee and moving forward it would be better for your dog to be groomed elsewhere." What. A. Joke. We will NOT be coming back to this place.
