Anthony, son of the owner is very disrespectful and unprofessional. My daughter was assigned through the SYEP Program to work with Anthony in this establishment. Anthony explained her days and she would get paid for 25 hrs but really didn't need an extra worker. My daughter explained that if it would be any issue she can go to the SYEP and get a different job. Anthony told her it wouldn't be an issue. My daughter is a respectful young girl an early high school graduate and I raised her well. Not only he lied on my daughter, he disrespected her in front of other workers and customers and told her to leave and not come back. He then watched my daughter on camera and discussed the situation with the workers at the establishment. Workers was texting my daughter telling her this. Anthony Should not be managing any sort of establishment. when I appeared at the shop due to him making my daughter cry due to embarrassment at first Anthony was ok and when I started pointing out how he should have done things he became rude, disrespectful, unprofessional and has no common sense at all. Reposting my review from Google because I'm still so annoyed after going to a legit groomer to find I was absolutely correct in what I was saying. Poms should not be shaved and a groomer should be able to educate a first time pet owner. I'm just so happy I walked away from this place, especially after reading the other reviews. Trust your gut. Original review: I was not able to get services done for my pom today. The woman assigned to me was unable to help me and made me feel incompetent for not knowing the right hair cut that would compliment my dog. I mentioned to her I was looking for a groomer who would do a scissor cut as poms are double coated and require scissors vs shaving...she said she has been grooming for 18 years and never heard of that AND she was planning on using a blade regardless of the conversation we were having. With that (lack of) information, I became too nervous and decided not to leave my pet there. Not to mention between her and the other female worker, I just felt unwanted there. Went in today for the first time to get my dog groomed. I have a 7 lb Pomapoo with medium length hair. The grooming was just okay compare to other places. I'm going to discuss the pros and cons. Pros: First come first serve so there's no need for an appointment Quick service. My dog was done within 90 mins Local business close to my home Cons: I was initially charged $70 for a standard groom. No add ons. This is more than I've paid at any other groomer in the city, between manhattan, bronx, and Staten Island. (and I usually get her nails painted and all the trimmings, so I was surprised that the groom was so expensive.) The manager also agreed that the price was too much and reduced it to $60, which is better but still more than I've ever paid. With taxes, I ended up paying $65. Overall, the service was friendly and convenient, and the cut as pretty decent. But due to over pricing, I probably won't choose this groomer again in the future. If you're looking for an amazing groomer at an amazing price and you're willing to travel, try BowWowWow in Staten Island. It's kinda far but extremely worth it. They made my little girl look like a princess. read more

This place is usually packed at max capacity of 50 dogs before noon, due to their no papers, no problem and no appointment necessary policy. I most definitely won't be bringing my little doggie back to that slaughter house! The lady that groomed my dog butchered my dogs hair and made her look ridiculous! I am so disappointed with the service I received on my 10 month old dachshund. The first time we went, we gave simple directions and they did a good job. This time however, my dog came back looking choppy and practically BALD! They shaved her down and didn't even do it the right way! Her beautiful puppy coat is now completely obliterated and I am so hurt looking at her. You can see for yourself how uneven this cut was. If I could give this place less than a star I definitely would. I brought my one year old cocker spaniel for his second haircut ever. When I got there at 8:15 am, the groomer Ramon told me that my dogs fur was "too knotted" to get a standard cocker spaniel haircut with a little fur left on his head and legs like I asked for. He said, "That can't happen because of all the tangles and I'm gonna have to cut down his fur." I didn't understand why he mentioned the haircut if that's already what I asked for. When I picked up Milo two hours later, ALL HIS FUR was shaved off. Ramon explained to my mother in Spanish that Milo had "so many knots that all his fur needed to be shaved off." Having gone to a different groomer the first time who had no problem giving my dog what I asked even having had MORE KNOTS AND TANGLES, I felt that Ramon just didn't know what he was doing and didn't want to admit that. Coming to pick my dog up and to find him with no hair was ridiculous. On top of that, I was charged $90 for something I didn't ask for, I was told it would be $60 but apparently because "Milo was so tangled" I was additionally charged $30. Which is absurd. Ive taken my dog here 4 or five times so I think I have received consistent service and can give a review. Every time I come the owner and staff are very nice. I am always greeted warmly as I come in. The prices are decent and they do a good job. I took my dog and my moms dog in today around 11:30am and they were ready by 1. Pretty fast service today for two dogs! The other times I've taken my dog it was about 2 hours for her to be done; however, that's a decent amount of time as they have many customers. We took our rescue Bernie to them last year. Bernie is blind and he is 15 years old His pet parent died and as I was working at Pet Co as A Brand ambassador for the Wellness Brand. This lady came in to ask if anyone could take him. I told her to send me pictures. She sent me 3 pictures none of his face. So I told her to bring him I'd take him home to my Veteran husband. Nick loved Bernie from the first time he saw him. This place took Bernie and even moved him to the front of the line. After Bernie came out he was trotting like a lil pony. They cut my dogs hair shorter than what I asked. Messed up and cut him even shorter. My dog had hair on his ears, not anymore. My dogs whiskers are all cut off and you can tell he was cut a few times because of the red marks left on his face and on his sides. You don't make a Shih Tzu look like a Chihuahua! So I used another Melissa (Blondie) that I spoke to on the phone and asked if she was busy and she told me she wasn't so I said ok I'll leave them there with her to groom she told me that it would take about 2/3 hours, no one ever called, I went there around 12 they told me they weren't ready to come back at 1pm went there again at 1pm and waited around for another 30mins and spoke to boss and said wow this is crazy how long i waited & that I should get a discount (he sarcastically said yea you should get it for free) which I already paid for both the dogs the first time I was there at 12 and I told him that too! it wasn't about paying it's the point of getting treated like your not paying & this place they butchered both my dogs she's lucky she even got $5 bucks for each of my dogs bc she didn't even deserve that bc I'm a better tipper! my puppy has scraps on his belly (first hair cut) which probably that's why he was terrified when he came out & there was a woman that worked there too not sure if she was another groomer but very nasty as well! saying oh but did they call you? I told her no they didn't and she said 2/3 hours not 4! I was coming from Pelham Bay she said it's right there I said no it's not (coming through the traffic on Westchester ave) very rude! I called late last week and told them I wanted to have my cat groomed. I told them that he was an aggressive cat and that when we have him groomed we have to medicate him. We brought our cat in today, medicated to be groomed. We couldn't find his medical information so I told them that we would bring them in when we picked him up. I called them at 4p. to check up on lucci and to forward them his medical information. Then is when I was informed that they couldn't groom him because he was aggressive. I told the man on the phone that I spoke to a woman late last week and made here aware that he's aggressive and would be medicated. His response was how are we supposed to remember that. I said sir do you think that I was telling you this information just because I had no one else to speak to. I gave the woman last week my name, my cats name and his information. I will never take my pet there again. As someone else's review said, there's a reason why they are so cheap! If I could give less than a one I would!! read more

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS DO NOT BRING THEM HERE !! (My cat Spike was so fluffy his tail looked like a feather duster and it was difficult for him to groom himself). For the last 15 yrs. I brought my cat to various groomers 4x per year with no problems. Approx. 4 mo's. ago I brought my long haired cat to the Cross Bronx Pet Shop for a simple grooming (wash and trim). When I picked up my cat I had expressed my concern because his fur was cut so short you could see his pink skin (an issue I never had with any of the other groomers). I was told not to worry it would all grow back shortly. It has been 4 months now and only strings and patches of fur have grown back. I started with a cat that was so beautiful he could have been in shows to a cat that looks so sickly my granddaughter cries whenever she sees him. Let.s me clear that i am not rating this business with one star because the quality of grooming, but you have to read the rest and be the judge, if I feel from the other readers that i am not fair in my rating, I am happy to change it. I start taking my dog to this shop after convincing my wife to start supporting the this local business in the neighborhood (family business according to their web site)instead pet smart company which was okay as well specially my dog has all the necessary requirements to be groomed at pet smart & the price is almost the same. But my disappointment did not come from the quality of the grooming or because my dog, but come from strange dog that was shelter dog. One volunteer at the local shelter took one dog that been found in the street and the dog was in urgent need of grooming , the shop has posted sign of 40.00/monday. Now what you think as shop owner if you clearly know that dog is homeless dog/belong to shelter and he need to be groomed urgently?( the dog look really didn't groom for long time) Do you charge regular price or discounted price or over charging more because you claim the dog required more time to groom without consideration that is homeless /shelter dog and the grooming is payed just by stranger volunteer/donor. The owner of the shop charge 100.00 to groom the dog withount cent discount because he claims the dog didn't groom for long time. so the volunteer end up paying 100.00 to groom homeless dog... Obviously , if the dog has home/owner , he will not get to that situation. ..or maybe if there is grooming business that has passion for pets he probly not get to that situation as well. I went 2 days later to talk to the shop owner about the incident, and he seems firm about his decision because he claims so many homeless dogs which absolutely not true and he is running business. As well claiming is not up to him but instead is up to the professional groomer to set the price. We all known that the groomer is not going to take 100% of the payment and you could show your caring by taking cut from the shop commission in the worst scenario even as symbolic discount... Yes everyone has business to run, but profiting big from homeless dog is completely not cool.. Imagine your pet( god forbid ) was or will be in that situation and pet shop that you may think should to have love for pet before profiting from them has zero consideration to the pets...and is all business. I will never be upset if he charges extra for my dog (usually end up paying 65.00 Inc tax and tips). But 100.00 dollar for homeless dog is just morally wrong). I love this spot!!! No matter which groomer cuts my dogs hair, he ALWAYS comes out looking great!! You can call to make appointments or to see how many dogs are there already if you want to go as a walk in... They keep your records so when you come back next time, you don't have to deal with the hassle of giving then your information again. And they call you once your dog is ready....they also sell a lot of different varieties of dog food and toys.. I live a little far from them but I don't mind going all the way out there because I never have a problem with them... I have FINALLY found a pet shop where i can regularly take my little one. I'm one of those crazy over protective dog owners who is skeptical about leaving her dog anywhere with anyone. I've been dreadingly taking Rocky (Shitzu) to Petsmart for as long as I've had him, and every time I pick him up my little one is shaking and scared. My mother works around the Cross Bronx Pet Shop and wanted to give it a shot to take Rocky. We were very pleased!! I am so glad I listened to her and we took Rocky here. His Groomer Aaliyah was great and caring. What's best is that no appointments are required ! Some of the reviews below say that they were surprised with overcharges but that was not the case for us, Aaliyah warned us from the beginning that Rocky was going to be extra because he needed to be shaved because of the amount of knots he had and we were totally ok with that. This was my first time taking my Yorkie beagle mix to get groomed and had an excellent experience. I went as a walk in and was welcomed very nicely by the staff, the groomer greeted me and asked exactly what I wanted. My dog was ready in two hours and looked great, keep in mind my dog is nine months and very excitable. I would highly recommend them and will be going back for all my dogs grooming needs. read more
