Well my experience with Maria is not the best but it's passable... either way I'm not returning to this place and now I understand why some of the people I've spoken to decided to change this location even though it is closer to home. So, while I'm waiting for her to take my baby & obviously observing the environment. she was talking about others dogs and the customers she has now, plain distasteful. Maria does lack in hospitality, curses a lot. I was giving it a shot anyway, I told her not to touch my babies ears or tail. They touched the ears anyway. So I had a meeting to attend at 6. I asked her if she would be done at this time. She replied yes. While I was next door waiting for a phone call, time was ticking. I walked over to the shop anyway, she said she's been calling me. I gave her my number while she made my file earlier for drop off. She got the number wrong. Then charged me 30$ for boarding. I usually speak up but in this situation I wanted to and see who I was going to be doing business with. I was literally watching & waiting for her to take corrective measures and show integrity. Integrity never came and that told me everything I needed to know. The 30$ over charge was well spent to me. I pray this helps all. Be blessed! read more

First things first, the owner Maria is super dope. My Goldendoodle Kai was comfortable there as was I with him going there. It was a whole vibe. Also, she had it hooked up where the Vet comes and does vaccinations discounted for our furry loved ones.. I love that the store has other products and A1 professionalism. I've had numerous appointments at a groomer at a local well named pet store. However, Maria has surpassed and I've gone beyond for my miniature schnauzer Breddren. I have gotten compliments daily regarding my dogs cut ,his coat and where did you go to? I think Brad and himself likes to cut so much that he allows me to comb his hair for once which never has been the case in previous attempts. Thank you, Maria. read more

I asked if they can give my flyers to customers looking for dog-walking services , a few years ago - they threw them out. Recently, I asked if I can post a flyer in their window about two dogs missing after an accident near their shop - she, the owner, was acting very strange about it, apparently didn't want to be bothered helping these lost, traumatized dogs. But what is worse are the reviews I am reading here - about dogs and even puppies limping and coming back with bloody eyes, lesions, shaking, not eating, traumatized, after being groomed at Maria's Pet Shop! Huge red flag! One said that Maria told him that she hit his dog. Another client said that Maria told her "If dogs don't listen, I make them listen." This is horrendous abuse, violence toward innocent dogs. No groomer should be doing this to their clients' pets. Do not patronize this establishment, there are good humane groomers available. read more

I took my little pup here when he was about 6 months old. My baby was the sweetest little pup, he was never an aggressive puppy. If anything he was shy and scared. It was his very first time getting groomed by Maria and I told her to please be extremely careful with him as it was going to be his very first time and he was a nervous little guy. My puppy also was very matted so I knew she would have to shave him down. Although saddened, I said it was fine, but only asked that she please be super careful with him. When I tell you, I wanted to make sure this shop was closed down for the state in which I saw my puppy when I went to pick him up. My baby was shaking, both of his eyes were bloody, and on top of that his nose had started to bleed after we got in the car with him. When I went back to confront her about it, she said it was "normal." This woman had the audacity to say "when dogs don't want to listen, I MAKE them listen" word for word about a helpless little puppy. I didn't take any pictures of his eyes when we got home with him. It was much too painful to see him like that. He had stopped eating. He didn't want to walk or be on the floor. He was no longer playful. And he only wanted to be around me, someone he knew he could trust. It took until he was about 1 years old for him to fully recuperate from having been traumatized by this woman. He was getting so skinny from not eating, I had to seek help for him. I 1000% do not recommend anyone take their puppy to get groomed here. If the groomer feels that they just cannot get the pup to listen, they should not FORCE the puppy or ABUSE the puppy, but simply tell the owner that they cannot continue the session. I would much rather have been told they cannot groom my puppy, instead of having had my baby abused and traumatized for months on end. If I could give the place 0 stars I would. read more

Saturday I took my dog here for her vaccines, since then she's been throwing up everywhere, refuses to eat and when I searched online it says this is normal and should pass in 24 hrs. It never passed. Monday morning I took my dog in for her grooming because she desperately needed a cut. My dog since picking her up has not stopped shaking, wobbling side to side and has begun eating her poop!!!! It's like she's developed dementia or is so traumatized . She is so anxious and scared and terrified. My once happy, upbeat, always running with me in the kitchen and the living room WON'T EVEN GET OUT OF BED NOW!!!!!!! Not to mention this place is completely overpriced. I paid $109 for a haircut and her nails aren't even filed. Terrible place to go, they do not love dogs!! They are aggressive with pets and I can't imagine she's not hurting dogs with those long a$$ fingernails. Take your pets anywhere else but there. Never again. I pray my baby gets better. read more

To be fair, my dog got a nice haircut. He was cleaned and groomed well. Now let's get real, the customer service was TRASH!!!! It started first thing in the morning, I arrive on time and the store isn't open. We were about 10 of us waiting outside. The owner strolls in almost 30 mins late and has no care in the world. I give them the benefit of the doubt cuz anything could have went wrong but she didn't care. Next, it still takes them until 11am to collect my dog and info. I tell the owner that I brush my dog daily, she responded with "I doesn't look like it" ok so strike one. You don't speak to a new customer or any customer like that. Now I leave expecting 3 hours or so to collect my dog. They call me at 3PM and say your dog barked so much since you left, that his left eye is blood shot red. I'm worried now and I tell her maybe he was nervous. I don't get a call that my dog is ready until 6:15PM in the evening..... 7 hours later. I show up and they refused to give me my dog until I gave them the money. If your confident about your work and how you cared for my dog, why would it matter that I want to see my DOG!!!! When they finally handed me my dog, his eye looked like he had been punched in the face. The owner was so unprofessional that she accused me of mistreating my dog, of taking him to various groomers, of not getting him groomed enough, and then she tells me my dog came in that way. Are you serious. She then tells me that I told the lovely girl on the phone that he has had that issue before. That wasn't true AT ALL. Let me be clear, I have never been treated like that anywhere. My dog was hurt under their care and they didn't even have the decency to be honest. My dogs eye is so bad that I may need to take him to a vet. I'm very appreciative that his cut came out nice, however, this place has the worst customer service ever. I would cut my own dogs hair over taking him back. I am so disappointed. read more

I am 100% satisfied with my pups hair cut. He does look amazing. I paid 65 dollars for a full package including nails, ears, paws, for my 5month old puppy. The price is worth the quality of the haircut. I dropped my dog of at 10am and he wasn't ready till 4:30pm. The only problem I had when I went to go pick him up, the groomers were asking me what's wrong with my puppy's leg. I was amazed by this question as I knew there was absolutely nothing wrong with his leg before I dropped him off. She insisted that his left arm was limp compared to the other one and she asked me to feel for it and I felt no difference at all. She insisted I take him to the vet to get it checked out. The other man was insisting that he was limping when I dropped him off when I know very well my dog was running around and playing just fine right before I dropped him off. Well I took my dog to the vet immediately after just to make sure it wasn't anything serious. I'm sure something minor happened at the groomer, maybe they pulled his arm too rough or they closed the cage on his paw or maybe he jumped off the table because he was scared. I do understand accidents happen, but I don't appreciate them trying to tell me my dog had a bad arm. Anyway the vet told me my puppy was perfectly healthy and something minor probably happened and that the groomer was probably just trying to cover himself up. My dog was limping for several days. He got his hair cut on Thursday and he didn't stop limping till Sunday morning. As far as the haircut I would've given this place 5 stars but because my puppy was hurt in the process they got a 3 from me. I might take my puppy back and just tell them to be extra careful the next time because I know mistakes do happen and I just got lucky. I've heard of worse things happening at better rated dog groomers so I think I'll give them another shot. This is not a bad review this is just my experience compared to all the other wonderful experiences people had coming here. This lady, the owner, Maria actually told me she hit my dog because he was showing his teeth at her during the haircut process and it took every body cell in me to not snap at her for that. I get there at 920am (40 minutes early so that I can be the first one in line because they have a inefficient system where they schedule everyone at 10am and take all the dogs at once). I pay a $10 uber and wait outside in the rain with my dog for about 20 minutes when their neighbor at the salon told me that they have been closed all week. I took my 8 month old puppy to Maria's for the first time and I loved it. Conveniently located, the location has an abundance of metered parking, definitely a plus. The owner is kind and seemed well versed on all things pup! My dog is usually nervous at the groomers and has come home with an incomplete cut from other groomers who stated she was too "anxious" but this was not the case here. Paired with an attractive storefront, my pup came home smelling fresh and well groomed. I went for the "teddy bear" style and I could die from how cute my dog looked. A bit pricey as I paid 70$ for a regular grooming but worth it for the clean and friendly environment. I was the first to drop off my dog (on a Wednesday) and got a call to get her around 1:15. I took my dog here twice and both times he came out extremely distressed and wouldn't stop shaking FOR WEEKS on end! She also kept him until 8pm when I dropped him off at 10AM which gave me the impression she was waiting for some drugs to wear off of him!!! Read her responses to her google reviews also she's very rude l and there's an article about how she was assaulted by a Customer because she hit someone's dog under her care along with other yelp reviews saying their dog had lesions, marks or downright signs of abuse and she would gaslight them and say they came in that way. Seriously take your dog somewhere else if you love them. Take them to pet co where u can watch them groom your dog and you walk out with your baby an hour later. I thought I hit that jackpot of groomers after meeting Maria and the crew on the street. I stopped to pet their giant schnauzer and noticed the uniform. I asked a for an estimate for a large dog bath package (to include ears, nails, NO CUT). The woman asked what breed and size of my dog and quoted me a price of $25-$30. I thought that was great. When i called for an appointment the gentleman who answered the phone simply said to come Saturday morning at 10am. He didn't ask for my name or the service i wanted...Saturday came and upon arriving, I see a line out of the door. Apparently they tell everyone to come at once. After at least a 30 minute wait, I leave my dog and ask for a time he will be ready to be picked up. No answer. Just wait for the call... SIX hours later, i pick up the dog and I am charged $58. When i tell her that she quoted me $30 and remind her that we met the other day on the street she simply says I misunderstood---huh?? Blah,blah,blah...he's a large dog, breed, yadda yadda. I pay. Leave. And when i get home I realized not only that my pooch's ears weren't touched but neither were his nails or pads. so I paid almost $60 for a glorified bath?!! I'd love to support local businesses but at these prices I'll be going to Petsmart. read more

I sent my dog (Onyx) to Maria's for boarding while I was on vacation. While I was away she did not give my dog her medication which she needed for a UTI infection. I informed them the schedule she was on for her meds. It still was not given. That same day when I arrived back from vacation I went with her to an equestrian center where we both keep our horses. Her horse injured injured my dog resulting in a double fracture. We disscused her helping and she responded if help is needed she would. That was not the case when the bill came she refused and denied all responsibility. This is disgusting behavior since I would expect the owner of a dog shop to have consideration for the injury her horse caused to my onyx. Unprofessional as it gets for this place. read more

Worst service ever. My brother took our dog here at 1030am, it is now 8:49pm and he is not ready to be picked up. The service is unprofessional. She asked for our dogs name and asked ME if he's ready. Are you freaking kidding me? Listen, first come first serve BS is not worth it, take your precious dog somewhere that does not take 8 hours to finish bath and grooming. All they do is talk shit, and delay their work and my dog is probably starving just because these people take their sweet time, I had to stop my whole day because they want to take their sweet time. The groomer is experienced but the shop operates on a first come , first serve basis. One hour later the place is full of sad looking dogs locked in kennels. It's so inefficient and feels like a factory. They need to broaden their horizons and book appointments , even if they raise the prices , many pet owners would be happy to pay more for one on one service, timely service. read more

This shop is the best! After searching through numerous pets shops in the BX we found Maria's pet shop grooming. From the minute I entered the shop I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile. I felt as if I was being helped by a member of my own family :) ! My boyfriend and I were in search of a travel approved doggie bag. Let me start out by saying if I could give 0 stars I would. I dropped my dog off at the store and he was 8th in line. I was told to return between 3-4pm to pick him up. Because of the high volume of dogs, I arrived at 5pm in order to give them enough time to complete my dogs haircut. By 5:30 pm he was still not done being groomed. Upset because my dog had spent 6 hours in a cage with no food or water in the middle of summer I explained to Maria that I had been told 3-4pm and it was now 5:30 and he still hadn't been serviced. She pointed out that there were 8 dogs in front of him, however there were 3 GROOMERS in the store. During my wait I realized the reason these appointments were taking so long were because they were to busy dancing and gossiping with each other as opposed to ensuring quality service for their animals. The worst part of this whole experience is that my dog's haircut was poorly executed with patches in his fur, and upon researching the other groomers I found that they were not certified which is illegal. All certifications must be clearly displayed in the store. read more

I have been taking my 13 year old Yorkie to Maria's shop for the past 2-3 years. She does a pretty good job overall with his cut and I am satisfied most of the time. My issue is with the length of time my dog has to be there. She gets a lot of business but I am usually one of the first few people on line. No matter what time I get there, my dog is never done before 4pm. He is a good obedient dog and does not take long to groom. Maria does not finish in the order the dogs are taken in and it always appears as if her friends are given priority. I will be looking for a new groomer b/c as my dog gets older, he can not spend all day at the groomers!! read more

First time visit and absolutely loved the service and results. Cute little shop that looks like it belongs in the city and staff was very friendly. Wait was not long but the other two customers that was waiting for the shop to open with me said that there is usually a long line of customers. Perhaps they decided not to bring their pets because of the heavy rain forecast. However, I dropped my Shih Tzu, Lola, off at 10am and she was ready a little after 1pm. Price was less than the other groomer I went to and Lola looked WAY better. Maria took time out to give me tips and pointers on how to maintain her hair and was very thorough. I would give a 0 or -100 star if I could. I sent my puppy to this place 10:30am in the morning, made multiple calls during the day about pick up time. Was told she wasn't ready to go. Not until 9pm at night, I couldn't stand the wait and went there and wanted to pick up my dog. She wasn't done being groomed. Around 9:15pm I get to take her home. Not only I had to pay $70 bucks for the service, I had to put my dog there for OVER 10 HOURS, the worst part is, when i wipe my dog's feet once we got home, three of her nails are bleeding! My dog was so upset and she just wanted to cuddle with me after not seeing me and being locked in a cage for 10 hours. I was furious and couldn't believe what I saw. With so many news about how groomers abuse and even kill dogs, I need to warn all pet lovers to think twice about going to this place.
