Went on a Friday evening, I purchased a stick shift Kia Rio, after several hours I finally got the car and left, got a call five minutes later saying they got the paperwork wrong and could I turn around and come back so they could fix it, I did. I live over an hour away so by the time I got close to home it was almost 10:00 pm. When I exited the interstate the car acted like it would not go in low gear even though I did have it in 1st gear, it bogged down but was able to continue to drive. As I got closer to home, by the way I live in the country on a dirt road, the car definitely was acting "funny". There are several hills on the dirt road going home, only made it to the second one before the car would not pull at all, stopped and messed around with it, tried to take off and it would only go in reverse! Had to walk a mile and a half to get home on a pitch black dirt road. Next day called Kia, they said have it towed and come with it and they would make it worth my while. Went and they put me in another car just like that one but in a color I did not want, okay, went home. Car did okay all the way home, grandkids were there and wanted a ride in the new car so we drove down the road a mile or two and turned around, on the last big hill before my house I had to stop, went to take off and the car would only go in reverse, you can imagine my consternation. Finally was able to get it to go forward and get to the house. Called Kia, they said they could not do anything until Monday but I had to be at work and not at a dealership for the third time. They had told me the first car had a loose fuse and that is why I had issues, told them I had never heard of a fuse issue having anything to do with the gears/transmission. I guess they must have thought I was an idiot. So I checked the fuse box on the second car just so I could say I had, of course, no fuse associated with gears, as I knew to start with. Needless to say by this time I was having a come apart with these people. I asked them why they could not do anything and the saleslady told me all the bosses had went home, I said you mean to tell me you can't get in touch with anyone in an emergency cause this was certainly one. She said she would call me back which she did and said they would tear up the paperwork on the car and give me back the title to my trade-in as soon as they received their car. Two cars with the same issue, I am thinking LEMON. One other issue, they tell you they will give you a minimum $5000.00 trade in allowance on any trade-in. My paperwork had only $3500.00, I asked about it and there was no explanation except for the $500.00 rebate which they took out of the original $5000.00 which of course nobody mentioned and since when does a rebate lessen the amount of your trade-in allowance unless they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes. Thank my lord I was able to get out of the deal, what a nightmare!!!!!!! read more
