I was pleased with my experience at Donahoo. I was in the market for a particular vehicle, and I'd been comparison shopping prices for months. A co-worker has bought several cars from them, and he highly recommended them to me. Donahoo had several that matched my needs; ironically, they often had more of a selection than the local dealerships for that manufacturer. And Donahoo's pricing was the most competitive I found in the area. Test driving vehicles was easy: I gave the receptionist the stock numbers of the cars I was interested in, and they simply let me drive them alone. It was nice not having a salesman in the car distracting me, or making me drive a pre-defined course. My salesman, Alexis, was very helpful. There was a minor issue with the vehicle I wanted, and he stayed in communication and took care of the issue within the week (while my trade-in offer was still valid). There was a small hiccup post sale when one of the rear seat releases broke the first time I used it. I took the vehicle back into Donahoo (because that's what the service plan requires to initiate repairs under the plan). Alexis wasn't there, but a different salesman with markedly poorer customer service skills suggested I had abused the piece. My initial thought was, "here's where their true colors show." But I think that salesman was just a bad egg. When I got back in touch with Alexis, he arranged for Donahoo to simply replace and repair the part; they were even nice enough to give me a courtesy vehicle while mine was being repaired. The service manager, Jimmy, was very kind and easy to work with as well, and he stayed in contact with me while the repairs were underway. This was all surprising to me, as I hadn't actually expected Donahoo to repair the vehicle themselves since it was sold as-is; I was just trying to get it serviced under either warranty or the service plan I'd bought, since the part had failed on first use. All in all (with the unfortunate exception of that one salesman), this has turned out to be a good experience. I lived in the area for more than a decade, so I've seen them grow from a very tiny used car dealership to what they are now. I think I now know why they've been successful. read more

No stars. Purchased used vehicle less than a year ago. Salesman lied about condition of vehicle and said that it was another Jeep that they pulled in with engine problems. It failed within 3 days. Majorly failed with engine problems. Gave them 3 opportunities to make repairs. We did not purchase warranty due to expecting a $28k vehicle to meet reasonable standards. Nothing but problems every month. Vehicle is currently in shop for failed transmission after being towed once per month since purchasing. We've gotten the started replaced-$500, check engine issue-$1200, now $5800 for transmission. Next it'll be the engine due to possible blown head gasket. We only purchased from this dealer bc of the good reputation they used to have. When we immediately reported issues they stated we should've purchased a warranty. read more

I would not recommend this location. Upon arrival you gave to go inside where they retrieve a copy of your license & get the information for the vehicle you're interested in viewing. The front desk employee (who was not wearing a mask) will give you a pager that goes off once your vehicle is ready to be viewed. We waited outside for over 30 minutes to view the vehicle. There was an employee who was helpful to other customers who had not been waiting as long as we had. I had to go to ask for assistance and for an ETA. The employee informed me that the pager wasn't working properly and the vehicle had been sitting there waiting for us to view. I was highly annoyed and definitely won't be purchasing a vehicle from this location. read more

I don't usually do reviews but I had to come on here and rave about my experience with Donohoo Auto! I had put an inquiry in online and the next day went to see the car in person. The test driving experience was easy and laid back, and after driving, I met with Jenna and she helped me TREMENDOUSLY with figuring out pricing and the ins and outs of everything. She was very upfront and honest and since this was my first time buying a car, she made me feel very informed and answered every question I asked. I have been looking for a weekend "toy" car for a short while and Donohoo Autos had BY FAR the best prices so after working with them via email and phone, I drove 500 miles to go see the Fiat 124 Spider and bought it! The price and experience was worth the 500 mile drive back in my Spider. My experience at Donohoo Auto was--interesting, to say the least. I've never been to an auto dealership where the responsibility to find a car was so heavily placed on the customer. Let me explain... You go in and either look up cars you want to drive on their computers, or tell them what stock number vehicle you've already looked up. They go get it, let you test drive it alone, and only after you've decided that you want to purchase will you even come into contact with a salesperson. No one is pushy, and you really get to make your own decisions with zero staff interference. This can be both good AND bad, because while you don't have the added pressure to buy, it feels pretty inconvenient if you actually have a question about the vehicle you're interested in. I ended up buying a 2015 CR-V from here. The buying process went smoothly, and I'm highly satisfied with my purchase. My only complaint is that once I bought it, the oil hadn't been changed; however, I promptly called the dealership and they offered to change it for free the following day. If you're looking for a car, let me give you some advice if you plan to shop at this dealership: 1.) Come prepared!! Know what type of vehicle you have in mind. Car? Truck? Sedan? Crossover? You know what I mean. If you're unsure about what you're looking for, you're gonna have a bad time. 2.) Know what they have in stock. Everyone has access to the internet in some capacity. Do your due diligence and look online at what this dealer has in stock. They have *hundreds* of vehicles to choose from, so you really need to narrow down your search to less than 3 vehicles before you even arrive at the dealership. Trust me on this, okay? 3.) Be patient. If you come at a high-traffic time, you're gonna be in for a bit of a wait. Vehicles are organized by style, I think, and some of the lots are pretty far away. Someone's gotta go get that car for you to test drive, and most human beings don't walk faster than 4mph. Their property is HUGE. 4.) What you see is what you get If you test drive a car and the inside running boards are scuffed, leather faded and dry, and the car smells weird--well, it won't be fixed in detailing. I learned this the hard way, so understand that what you see is what you get. 5.) No-haggle Self explanatory. Bottom line: This is a trustworthy dealership with an unconventional customer approach. The prices are reasonable and fair according to KBB valuations, so you should give them a shot if you're looking for a decent used vehicle. read more

Not a good place to go if you're wanting to test drive a few cars unless you have time. The good thing is you don't have to worry about a representative riding with you while you test drive. Upon arriving you'll go to their computers to view their inventory by yourself. Then you'll give the stock number(s) to representative sitting in front. They will then input your information & have someone bring the vehicle to the front. Which it took about 15 min so we left. The main thing is don't go after 6:30 pm to test drive a car because they may be running behind with bringing the car for you to test drive so you may not have adequate time. All cars have to be back on the lot by 6:45. I was told by a friend that referred me that you don't have to be worried about being harassed to purchase a vehicle. I advise you to check inventory online upon arrival to save time. read more

What is more disappointing than my experience is how many other women in these reviews felt they were treated different because of being a woman. I walked the lot here old school style and when I went up to test drive the car had been sold. Sucked for me, but I took it to be a good sign that other people are doing business with the highly hyped dealership. I left and used my USAA app to search for vehicles and found another at this same dealership that I liked. I asked for more info through the app and adam from donohoo reached out quickly to schedule a test drive. I was going to be out of town that weekend so we scheduled for Monday. I noticed over the weekend that the car was no longer on the website. I called Monday morning to make sure it hadn't sold and was available for my test drive that afternoon. He assured me it was there and would be waiting on me for my test drive. When I arrived, they passed me on to a different salesman. He did apologize that adam wasted my time, but told me the car was not there and it had been taken off the website because it was sent to the body shop for some minor scratches. They were touching up the paint. They asked me to come back a couple of days later. A couple days later, I left work early- again to drive 40 minutes to drive the car. The car was there but had about a foot long scratch on the trunk. When I told the salesman that I was confused and needed help understanding why the vehicle had this big scratch after supposedly leaving the paint shop. He asked to see what I was talking about. When I showed him he said "oh, I assumed you were complaining about some small typical used car scratches. This is significant and I don't know how the shop missed this." He said he would send it to get fixed. He said they wouldn't take anything off the price despite the condition and the customer service issues. I did not feel like I was taken seriously throughout the whole experience. Losing my business alone may not make or break the bank for how busy the lot is, but there is a pattern of many women catching this same feeling. Treat women buyers better and take us seriously. Tried to visit this location recently. Made an appointment 2 hrs in advance to look at a BMW X5. Sat in the heat for 25 minutes and noticed that several others showed up after us with and without appointments and their cars were brought around. I went to the counter to ask for an update. That's when I was told the car was being test driven by another person. That means they had it for 25 minutes? Why wasn't I give them the courtesy of this information when I checked in? Never got an answer to that. Now there was another X5 on the lot exactly the same as the one I made the original appointment for. Same color, mileage, and price. But they couldn't manage to get that one to me in another 20 minutes. It was literally 100 yards from the front door. And the original one we made the appointment for never showed back up. And 1 hr test ride? How's that possible? Never one time did anyone apologize for the inconvenience. Inconsiderate treatment of customers should never be acceptable. And during all this, they took my car to the back and never even gave me a appraisal. Very disappointing visit. You can say we are busy (they were not that busy). But proof is in how you treat people. Not how you SAY you will treat people, but how you actually treat them. Yes my time is important, but it's just an hr. But how we were treated is more telling about how this dealership views people. And that is very sad. read more

Overall I had a pretty good experience at Donohoo, I really enjoy that you can test drive the car yourself and there was no sales person hanging around to ask if you were ready to purchase. I did buy a car and dealing with the sales rep and financing department was really easy and quick. My one complaint is that I called my sales rep to let them know I would be returning at opening the next day to put a deposit on the car and they sold it to someone else. They opened at 9am and I arrived at 9:10 to purchase the car but they were letting someone else test drive it and that person ended up purchasing the car while I was waiting. I did end up finding another car there but I was really surprised that they weren't willing to reserve the car despite the fact I was coming in to purchase it. Just remember there are no guarantee's at this dealership and if you want something you better buy it immediately. read more

In April of this year, I purchased a 2013 Mercedes Benz C250. About a week ago I noticed a significant tick in the motor. I made an appointment to have the car serviced at the Huntsville Mercedes Benz dealership. As I prepared to take the car in, I consulted the user's manual in the glove box, only to find a receipt that showed the car's engine had been replaced with a used one. There was no mention of the car having a used engine in the vehicle at the time of sale, which I'm sure would have significantly decreased the value of the car. In addition, the dealership has informed me that the car needs new front brake pads, a brake fluid flush, a new cabin air filter, and a new engine air filter. There is a rattling noise that occurs in the back of vehicle when the radio is on and the weather stripping in the trunk was not affixed properly, resulting in a need to slam the trunk in order to close it. I am outraged at the amount of service needed on this vehicle that I JUST purchased. I feel like I have been taken advantage of, as I am a woman who went to the dealership alone. read more

First, I would like to say when I arrived this place does things a little different. However, I liked that they immediately took my drivers license and sent me on my way to check out the car. Let me back up. So I've been looking for a specific car that is fairly hard to find. A 2012 or newer BMW 335i in a manual, in white... without black interior. Donohoo is one of the few places with one for sale in the Southeast. I noticed this car on Autotrader quite some time ago and was extremely interested in it. On Monday I was on a work trip passing through and flying out of Birmingham airport. I grabbed a rental car and drove the 35 minutes to look at this car. I really liked it. I sat down with Eric and explained to him that I really like it and that I may be interested in buying it outright or possibly even trading my current BMW but due to my 6:40pm flight, I couldn't sit and talk more about it right then. My contact information was on file and I explained that he could feel free to contact me on my drive back to the airport or the following day. I never heard back. This car is extremely hard to find. There is a reason. It's hard to sell as well. The car has sat on the lot for 200 days and you clowns had a Florida buyer who wanted to see it badly enough that he rented a car and drove from the airport. Business must be really good at Donohoo that it wasn't worth calling me back. Guess I'll just keep looking.... read more

My visit to this dealership was short lived. When I walked in and told receptionist, (who did not even have time to look up from her cell phone) I was there to see some cars and she told me to go to the back and and find the cars on a computer and write down stock number and bring it to her. I was a bit confused as to why I had to do the work for them. While I was waiting for the car to be brought up front, a sales person said if I liked the car to come find him inside. I really wanted to love my experience here but it has been lackluster. I came to see a particular car on a Saturday morning. When the car was pulled around, it had been listed as the wrong color. I was very disappointed and while the receptionist apologized, no one seemed too concerned. They said they would have a similar car come in that would be the same price. I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Donohoo recently! I bought a car from them 10 years ago, when they were small and attentive. Fast forward to the present, I used Auto Trader to identify what I wanted and saw that Donohoo had a large selection. I arrived mid day on a Saturday, the lot was a mad house! Parking was hectic with a stream of cars and not enough room for them to navigate. I was looking for a SUV and there is no signage for directions. After walking all over, I found them, but to my dismay not one single car had information on it. This forced me to try and get a sales person, but the line for a sales person was very long. Donohoo paid $2,000.00 more for our trade than we were quoted back home. We went to the dealership to get a station wagon we had seen online and while we waited for them to assess our trade, we test drove another car that we ended up falling in love with. (Hard not to fall in love with a BMW twin turbo V8.) Enjoyed the experience. I thought the follow up was great. Price was very competitive. No buyer's remorse afterwards. So far so good on the maintenance. It's a nice car. Plan to go back. Really thought it was a good experience from the test drive to the purchase to the follow up. They have a great selection of cars. You might be able to get a better deal online, but not without taking a bit of a risk. They obviously plan to be around for a while, I expect they will keep up with their customer service levels. I chose to use Donohoo Auto after reading positive reviews and finding a hard to find almost new Diesel VW Golf on the lot. I filled out a query form and was promptly contacted when they opened the next morning. The sales person was friendly and helpful. I obtained my own financing and made a return call about my intent to test drive the car later in the day. I became a little worried when I saw that the car had been pulled from the website. Not to worry! Carson, my sales rep pulled it and put a hold on it for me! When I arrived the car was clean and ready for my test drive, which was done without a salesman ride along. When I decided to purchase the car they offered me top dollar for my trade, no haggling, no mess. However due to a slight error when calculating taxes on the car my loan preapproval was 800$ short. They will not negotiate or come down on their pricing and I had to get my financing in order. They partner with many local banks and credit unions and were able to get me the financing at the interest rate I wanted. No scamming and no sketchy dealers here. The finance guy was friendly, helpful, and able to get me, the customer a great financing deal through my credit union. They followed up to ask about my satisfaction after my purchase which went smoothly. We were looking for a Nissan Armada and could not find one in our area at a reasonable price. We searched Sam's Car Buying Program and found the car we wanted. We contacted the dealership and Eric called us back and answered all our questions! Needless to say we were scared of buying a car online that we had never seen or driven! There was a dump along the way with the paperwork being sent to us in time for the car to be delivered when my husband wanted, my birthday! Nick contacted my husband and asked if the car was everything I wanted and my husband told him yes except for one thing and he would have that added at a later date. We were told it may take a while to get the car delivered to us so we were expecting it in about a week, wrong!! The paperwork was delivered back to the dealership on a Thursday on the following Saturday morning my husband leaves home for work around 7:15 about 10 minutes later I hear a car door and think oh my something is wrong, I wait to see if it's a neighbor but then I hear my garage door open. I go to the door to see what is wrong and there sits my new car!!! Delivered from Alabama to Myrtle Beach and in my driveway in a short amount of time!!! Great buying experience. I recently bought a car from Donohoo after shopping multiple dealerships, Driver's Way & CarMax. They don't really negotiate price, but were very competitive vs. everywhere else I shopped. Walking on lots and being hawked by used car salespeople is about my least favorite thing in the world. And why would anyone want to play the, "let me talk to the sales manager" game? At Donohoo, pick the cars you want to test drive from the website, fill out a form and let them have a copy of your license, then take the car for a test drive... by yourself... and check it out with some privacy... and then have the choice to ask the sales folks questions. As for their salespeople, I worked with Carson and he was knowledgeable, professional and promptly responded to questions, a number of them by email after I'd left the lot. I drove a number of cars over a couple of weeks, never got any high-pressure sales push and finally made a purchase. Carson arranged for my car to be taken to a local mechanic so I could have a pre-purchase inspection and then had it picked up. All in all, it was a great experience and I'll be shopping at Donohoo next time I'm in the market for a car. read more

The best car experience I've ever had. There was ZERO hard sell and no constant upselling of different products. They also gave me an extremely fair price on my trade. I left my iPod in my old car and they ended up selling it quickly. When I remembered it, I'd called and it was too late. They actually offered to reimburse me for my iPod....which was incredibly nice. I told them not to worry, it was my fault. But, they go above and beyond. I just purchased my second car through Donohoo. I really like the service that I've received as well as the car selections. They have tons of pre-owned vehicles, and for great prices. There's a no haggle type of process so, it's good going in with the mindset that you won't have to worry about being "sold" too much. Coming from a sales background, I can really appreciate this. The only thing that I don't particularly like, is the credit app process. If a person doesn't have the cash ready to purchase or a lender already in mind, the finance people will shoot your app to about 4 to 5 lenders.. I understand that this is to help the customer to get the best interest rate, however, those soft credit hits will stay on a credit report for two years. If one can afford this great, it's just something to be mindful of. I think the next time - hopefully there won't be as my car should definitely last me some years ... I'll shop around, test drive, and pick out a car prior to doing the credit app. Overall, great place, friendly associates from the receptionist, to the car runners, to the sales associates. read more

I purchased a very hard to find Acura TSX 6 speed manual from this dealership almost a month ago and have been very pleased with every aspect of the transaction. I sent an email query after having seen the car on eBay and was quickly contacted by Eric Jones. Initially we were unable to get together on price but a couple of weeks later Eric called me and said they would accept my offer. We emailed back and forth and he made it very easy by having literally everything ready to go when I got there as I live almost 2 hours away. Upon arrival the car was brought around, already cleaned up with a full tank of gas, for me to test drive after they scanned my drivers license. After a short test drive where the car drove out perfect I returned to the dealership to MAYBE a 5 minute wait to finish signing the final papers. That profess took less than 10 minutes since I was bringing a cashiers check. The closing manager was very friendly and efficient. This experience was a night and day difference from the hours long wait I had to endure in other car buying experiences. Where this dealership has blown me away was the service after the sale. The car didn't have the factory floor mats as described in the listing. After emailing Eric I was told they would be sent to my home. I did get them a few days later but there was an error and they were not the ones specified. I quickly received a follow-up call from a woman named Lydia who profusely apologized and sent the OEM Acura carpeted mats to me. I have nothing but good things to say about this dealership. I bought a 2015 BMW 750li in 12 /18 from this dealer. They did not offer me an extended warranty on the car, gave me innaccurate information on the manufacturers warranty saying it lasted until July of 2019 but ended in March of 2019. I have had problem after problem with this car including air conditioning not working, transmission codes displaying and now the car is misfiring and shaking with the check engine light on. This vehicle has less than 40,000 miles on it. They have a fake blog trying to help you avoid buying lemons yet when they know they are selling you a lemon they avoid offering all the things that would help you and provide you with FAKE information. Do NOT buy a car from this dealership! They are the worst! They definitely take advantage of women especially if they have a car you really want. Be Very Afraid! read more
