Good customer service builds trust, credibility, and positive word-of-mouth. One of the primary responsibilities of a service advisor is to keep customers informed throughout the repair process. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite--marked by poor communication, delays, and growing frustration. On January 19, I brought my vehicle to Greenway Riverchase for repairs. Despite multiple phone calls and voicemails, I received no return communication. The following day, I received an automated message through the Kia portal indicating my vehicle had arrived, but it provided no details or confirmation. As a result, I took time off work and drove to the dealership, where I was informed that diagnostics were beginning. After five business days with no updates, I again attempted contact without success. On the seventh day, I made another trip to the dealership. While paperwork suggested progress, I was given no new or meaningful information--only a repetition of issues I had already explained. At this point, I requested to see my vehicle, as I had never received direct confirmation that any work had begun. After waiting 20 minutes, I learned that no assessment had been performed. This explained the lack of information in the automated system. Another week passed with no communication. When I returned, I requested to speak with a manager. At that time, I was told diagnostics had been completed and tests performed, raising concerns as to why this information had not been shared earlier. It appeared that updates were only provided when I physically arrived at the dealership. During my discussion with management, I was assured that the Kia text system was intended to provide timely updates; however, it was clearly ineffective in this case. The lack of accountability and communication reflected broader organizational issues. By the time I retrieved my vehicle, I had made four trips to the dealership, taking time off work on three occasions and driving approximately six hours round-trip each time. Due to the lack of transparency, I have little confidence in the quality of parts or work performed. I was charged nearly $6,000 for repairs I believe should have cost significantly less, in addition to approximately $240 in fuel expenses. My vehicle was held for over a month. Having previously worked as an automotive service professional and having written standard operating procedures for service operations, I can confidently say this was among the worst service experiences I have encountered. Large dealership groups like Greenway, Asbury, and Lithia often suffer from poor oversight, and this experience exemplifies that issue. Do Not Take Your vehicle there. Leadership is hot trash!!! 09/15 - I called the dealership on Monday... talked and texted the service writer Iyanna... about the vehicle and the at the check engine light was on again... we decided to bring the car to the dealership so I brought the car and parked it Tuesday night outside the service entrance ... I came back Wednesday morning and brought the key... I went on to work ... called back and talked with Iyanna and she heard our heartburn about the car cutting of suddenly and check engine light being on again. I asked to speak to the Service manager ... a man picked up, I confirmed that he a was indeed the service manager Ron Toellen... I proceeded to give him our heartburn...Ron tells me about a March recommendations and what we didn't get fixed.... Our conversation became elevated and a little combative... because I asked questions and he gave answers...we agreed to disagree on many... I asked for him to tow the car on Kia.. he said No... I talked about rentals... He said no... and basically told me he was with a customer and dismissed me...he said, 'I can't do nothing for ya unless the vehicle is here.... At this point, I request to speak with the GM Mario King...Ron assured me that I would not be speaking to Mr. King. I was, least to say, astonished that the Service manager would not at least allow me to speak to the person he reports to. So I went directly to Riverchase kia website and submitted a 'speak to the GM' chat request. I put my concern in the chat and the responder assured me that my communications will be passed along. 09/16 - On Tuesday... we change of plans ... I had my wife pick me up from the dealership... while waiting in my vehicle for wife to arrive , I decided to go inside and to speak with the GM ... the receptionist informed me that he was not in.. she ended up taking my name and number.... And asked me the why... I provide the information that she requested and I told her I wanted to talk about my disappointment with the way repairs have been... I sent Iyanna a text requestion that they complete the diagnostics... 09/17/- No communication as diagnostics was being completed. 09/18 - Wife gets a call Thursday... she couldn't answer ...there was a voicemail left by Ron or Iyanna for wife to call back. 09/19 - Friday, wife calls back and speaks to Ron, he took the opportunity to scold her about her driving the number of miles on the car and tells her again that we didn't do the recommendations in March.. tells her that we need to pay an additional $700 for diagnostics ONLY... to remove the manifold and tell us if it is mechanical or electrical... or I'll charge you a $50 day storage fee... 09/20 - Saturday ... I was hoping Ron wasn't working ... we came to get there car... I think Iyanna felt my energy after seeing Ron... who talked crazy to me and my wife this week... I asked the parts guy how to file a formal complaints... he responded as best he could...I said some things to the young man that shouldn't because it wasn't his issue and apologized because it wasn't this part guy's efforts that I was upset... I decided to exit the building... and help my wife transfer items... thankfully she pull away... however, I then decided I wanted to file a formal complaint ... I went back apologized To the parts guy again... I approached Iyanna again.. I asked for a formal way to make sure that this is documented. She provided me the Kia customer service number. At this point I wanted to file a formal complaint and have it documented. While I was discussing Ron's performance to Iyanna, Ron inserts himself into the conversation by introducing himself. I responded by telling him, that he is getting what he wants today, and that he will be losing a customer today. He and I got into an elevated tone conversation, while he was assisting someone in their car. I said what I needed and wanted to say to Ron. Ron attempted to kick me of the premises and to call the police. I implored him to call Birmingham or Pelham .... As I would wait for them to arrive. Ron told me I should be embarrassed to which I responded that I not embarrassed and will not allow another man to be disrespectful or dismissive to my wife. read more

I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with the service department at Riverchase Kia. I dropped my vehicle off Wednesday and was told I would hear back by the next day. I did not receive any update on Thursday. On Friday around 11:00 AM, I called for an update and was told my service advisor would call me back. After two hours with no call, I contacted them again and was told there were no notes in the system about my vehicle at all. About ten minutes later, I received a call stating there was an oil filter housing leak, and I was told my advisor would call me by the end of the day. That call never came--nor did I receive any communication on Saturday. The dealership was closed Sunday. On Monday, my husband called multiple times and was again told there were no notes in the system and that the advisor would call him back. No one ever did. I then called myself before lunch and left a stern voicemail for the service manager, which was never returned. When my husband went to the dealership in person at 3:30 PM, he was told, "Oh, I was just about to call Mrs. Bess," despite multiple calls and voicemails that had gone unanswered. At that point, we were told the repair was not covered under warranty, and we agreed to pay simply so I could get my car back. This morning, my vehicle status still showed "in progress," so I called again around 11:30 AM and was told the car was done--yet no one had called to notify me. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle, the final total was over $120 more than what we were quoted the day before. The complete lack of communication, inaccurate information, missing documentation, and price discrepancy is unacceptable. I should not have to repeatedly chase updates, show up in person to get answers, or be surprised by higher charges at pickup. This experience reflects poorly on the service department's organization, accountability, and respect for customers' time. False advertisement! You gotta have good credit 620+, no adverse credit history in the past 5 years and they don't even inform you about their rebates and discounts! They just want to get you in a debt trap so they can get rid of the cars on the lot. Some of those cars are even being discontinued in 2025 so of course they don't want them on the lot. read more

I called the service dept and explained what happened with my car, they said they could repair it, "no problem." After getting nowhere with texts and voicemails requesting an update, I went by the dealership 11 days later and my car was still in the same spot had been towed to. No one had even looked at it yet. I asked to speak with a manager who asked if I could give him 50 minutes to diagnose the problem. Without even looking at it, he felt it was probably a fuse. It still took 4 more days before they called back to say it was fixed. This "no problem" repair cost me $788.11 to replace an $87 fuse (not to mention over $600 for two weeks rental car fees). The people I spoke to were all friendly but the labor time and overall turn around time is grossly unacceptable. read more

If I could give Greenway Kia a Negative star review I would. On August 28, 2025, I picked up my car after 3 weeks from repair my car had to be towed 80 miles for repair. I commute 2 hours a day to work and had to make alternate transportation arrangements to get to work for 3 weeks. When car was picked up the check engine light was still on. I went back by and spoke with a mechanic and rode with him he said the car was fine. Sept 12 went in for an oil change, the check engine light was still on. Last week on September 15 I was driving and my car cut off in stop and go traffic. It took me several tries to get the car back on. I knew there was still a major problem. My husband called and asked to speak with the service manager and the general manager of the dealership. He spoke to the service manager, without much info and did not get to speak to the GM. My husband then brought the car back to Greenway Kia on Wednesday September 17. Thursday. I received a call from the service manager saying that if I didn't respond to their call they would charge me $50 per day for storage fees. I called back and Spoke with the service manager. I asked him what was wrong with my car since they wanted to charge for storage and he said they need to do diagnostics and the fee would be $700 just for labor for diagnostics and would also probably need other costly repairs. I informed him that I had not had my car back for 2 weeks and now it needs more costly repairs. I told him the check engine light never went off and the car was not fully repaired. He said my car a 2022 Kia Telluride had high mileage and I should expect such repairs. I said I just am frustrated that I just got my car repaired and it was not fixed. The check engine light was still on so there was a major problem. He gave no resolution. We decided to go elsewhere for repairs going forward. I was sad to do so because I love Ayanna Harville. And have been having my service done at Greenway for many years. This is not a nice situation for a persons who has been a long term customer in the service department of a dealership. Just moved here from Arizona. My wife dropped her Kia off for a scheduled 15k mile service yesterday which is covered by our service agreement. They told her the service was not covered by Kia and we would need to pay out of pocket. I called them and disputed that. They acknowledged they were wrong and said we did in fact have free oil changes and tire rotations. They agreed to cover that for free but also suggested we pay an additional $450 for tire alignment, fuel injector cleaning some type of extra oil treatment. He said that was needed to protect our warranty so I agreed and the began doing the service. They told me they close at 4pm so I showed up at 3:50pm to pick up the car. I saw my car in the shop come off the lift as I walked into the service desk. They told me it wasn't ready to pick up yet and they just moved it over onto the alignment rack. As I was walking back to the parking lot, we got a call saying it was ready. I went back to the service desk. I asked the service tech if he was sure it got a full alignment because it was only on the alignment rack for a few minutes. He asked me how would even know that and I said I had just saw them move it over. I asked him for a "before and after" printout of the alignment adjustments. They gave me one that did not note any adjustments being made and said it was and issue with their printer. My toe measurement was still off by 0.34 degrees which means they did not perform a proper alignment or most likely did not do it at all. They probably just put it on the rack to collect the datapoints and did not make any changes, which would be an "alignment check", rather than what I paid the $400+ for. Now I'm doubtful they even did the oil change, rotated the tires or what that "oil treatment" & "fuel system cleaning" charge was actually for.. Buyer beware. Most dealerships make a majority of the profits from service agreements and service appointments. Not sure if the motive there is greed, laziness or they are rushing the jobs. read more

I called to make an appointment for a $19.95 oil change. Service dept person instructed me to make appointment online but went ahead and scheduled. Everything was good until I was given an invoice. My total was $29.78. Was told it was tax which didn't make sense. When I was given my copy I realized it was a misc. charge which included a $4.99 document and storage fee. There was no storage & I was given 2 pages of receipt. On top of that I was charged an $.89 credit card fee. I also went out of my way to come to you. My 17 year olds car went into limp mode. I was told by an independent shop it needed a new engine. Riverchase Kia said it only needed a software update. Two weeks later there was no oil or coolant at all. Riverchase said they never checked those things. Now they say I need two thousand dollars worth of repairs that aren't covered. They refused to provide a written estimate and are threatening to put the car in storage and charge me for it. USE AT YOUR OWN PERIL. they do not stand behind their product and they do not treat people fairly. read more

I called the the business about 5:20 on May 6, 2025. The receptionist that answered my call kept interrupting me and talking over me while I was trying to talk. When I finally was allowed to speak, I said that it was rude to talk over a customer and she disconnected the call. I called back and as soon as the call was answered it was disconnected again. I called back through service and was again routed to reception, where my call was immediately disconnected again. I am extremely disappointed in the care I have received from Kia Greenway of Riverchase AL. I brought my 2024 KIA forte in for them to check on my driver seatbelt back in the beginning of May because it was locking even when the car is parked and would not unlock until 5-10 mins after driving down the road. I brought the car in and was told they had to order a piece to replace and that they would call me with updates. It was 3 weeks that passed, and I had not heard anything from them, so I had to call and that is when I was told it was on backorder. I mentioned to them again that this is/was a safety issue and I did not feel confrontable driving as much as I do for work and school purposes, and I also have a son that I am responsible for. I got a call last week stating that the piece has come in, and I asked the guy that called if I could go ahead and set up a time to bring my car in and he said that he cannot do that, but a supervisor would be contacting me. I waited ALL day long with no call back, so I called again and asked to speak to someone about setting up the appointment and I was sent to voicemail and then could not even leave a voicemail due to the voicemail box being full. My consultant was Shelinda and she was absolutely fantastic. This was my first car purchase so i was very adamant about being treated fairly and with respect. The entire team was friendly whenever i arrived, the manager (cant remember his name) was very respectful and gave me recommendations and reasons as to why. I felt comfortable about purchasing my car here and didnt feel like i was being cheated. 6 months later, ive had no issues with my car. Only a few things ive needed to replace like brake pads and a new battery but nothing gigantic like a motor or engine. Would probably avoid this place, unless you like being belittled. My husband and I have been shopping for months to find an X5 and found one located at this dealership while we were visiting family in the area. We explained to the dealership on our way into the state on a road trip that if they could get us out the door at 40k we would purchase the car. We explained we would need to drive it 1,800 miles home and if they can't get to that price it's no big deal. We continued to get phone calls for three days and eventually received a call Saturday morning explaining they were able to work the price out and we could make a deal. What the dealership did was take the taxes off the sale price so I would then pay 3k after the purchase of the vehicle. They tried to fool me. When I caught this and mentioned to the dealer they would need to make an adjustment to what we originally agreed on 3 days prior I was told it's a good deal and they can't move. I sent the dealer two of the same cars for sale 7k cheaper the manager said "I am sorry you can't afford this car." I've been to this location multiple times. The sales department is pretty good only because of Henry. However, their service department needs serious work. It's as if they don't care about your time and their vehicles. They don't even perform proper oil changes see pictures below. I looked at my oil change from my KIA optima and I was confused when I saw the dip stick of friend who changed her oil a day before mine. The difference is crazy. Now for a more pressing reason I've decided to write this post. I have purchased a vehicle that was certified pre own with less than 12k miles on it. They sold the Sportage without the spare key and didn't offer a replacement. But that's not the biggest problem. This KIA has been in and out of for repairs since it was purchased. Who certified this pre own? It's been with Kia for repairs longer than it's been in my drive way. It's been 2 months and it's under warranty. Kia calls me to inform me the vehicle is ready, we drive out there to retrieve the vehicle only to realize that that the repairs were not completed. This has happened twice. Called Kia customer care and no one wants to take ownership for selling us a lemon and wasting my time on blank trips to pick up a car that isn't ready!!! My family has purchased 3 KIAs over the past and always had issues with this service department. Kia customer service is even worse! Once you purchase your car you're on your own. If you contact KIA customer care they will tell you to contact the dealership. When you go to dealership they will tell you contact customer care. I finally filed a claim with KIA customer care and it took them 2 weeks to get back to me. Every time I spoke to someone they escalated my claim to someone else. I felt as if they were waiting me out or hoping I'd eventually give up. Which makes this situation worse, I traded a 2017 Mercedes SUV for a Kia sportage from hell. Biggest mistake of my life. Finally, Melissa from the KIA claims department calls me to inform me that the KIA is ready.... ... I arrive there and guess what? Riverchase Kia says the car isn't ready again and they never spoke with Melissa. I have a screenshot of the email below. This is like a horror movie or a sick trick being played on me. At this point I've been out of car for 2 months paying insurance for a car I'm not driving and not even offered a rental car for my troubles. I've had enough! I finally see my 2017 Mercedes Benz that I traded in for this junk KIA sitting in the lot, and I tell them I want my car back and you guys can keep that KIA you've been trying to fix for two months. They send me a manager his name is Shaquille Johnson. He tells me in order to get my car back it's going to cost me $3,800. My response was you sold me a car that worked for a week. I traded in my Mercedes and payed you a difference of $7,500 I want my money back I don't want to pay to get my car back. Mr. Shaquille begins to laugh at my pain and frustration. I asked Shaquille Johnson if he found my situation funny.... He responds with yes. It took every bit of my soul not to strangle this man, the KIA dealership has placed into management. Luckily, I was able to walk away and not go to jail that Friday. I have posted a picture of the manager so anyone who reads this knows exactly who laughs at a KIA customers after being sold a lemon, at his establishment. I have another KIA that they serviced for an oil change and they can't even do that right. Look at the attached pictures. Please stay away from Riverchase KIA. They should not be business at all. Kia cars can be nice when they work. However, I have lost faith in the brand the response from KIA customer care and how they handled selling me a lemon, was unacceptable. So last week I dropped in to find out what is taking so long, Chris, another service rep because mine was out, found a note that said the wires by my sensors were cut and that new sensors would have to be installed before the wiring could be fixed. y'all I took my car in for a recall because it was running hot and using coolant! when Chris talked to the tech about the diagnosis, the tech said the car needed a new motor and they were getting one on order from corporate. And I had a corporate case number on my car "before" I took it into this dealership! calling corporate today to find out what's going on with my car. read more

I guess to be totally fair, I wasn't really that interested in coming here to start with, so that could possibly be skewing my review by a star (but I don't think it is). Prototypical car dealership, they try to get with you as soon as you arrive so that they can steer (haha .... that's a great car dealership pun in the making) things out and try to keep you there so that they can, obviously, make a sale. As far as the Kia brand - they have upgraded and along with that carry a price point that, to be totally honest, I thought was borderline disturbing. That being said, we were actually just here to look over the used car lot (which didn't keep the attention of the salesperson as much as a new sale). They really didn't have anything that was even close to what we were looking for. Would we return, um, maybe? If they had something we were looking for at a great price, probably. read more

The dealership is not honest and they deal from the bottom of the deck. The service and some of the people are so crooked I just decided to sale my car and never be associated with KIA again!!! Understand I purchased this car brand new from this dealership with all the warranties still in active. Bottom-line they wouldn't even replace their defective battery and it was still under warranty. Now After 7 weeks no one has contacted me about the cancelled extended warranty that Im owed a refunded on. I called and was sent to voicemail. This dealership is responsible for the refund over $1000 and no one will get back in touch with me. Please be careful trusting this dealership. THEY ARE NOT HONEST read more

I got to say I went in for service today to get my oil change. A guy came up and said oh we got great deals on cars. Let me show you get 4000 off to stick the price so on so forth sit down for 45 minutes we do a great deal Better than you had last time we're getting about 4% or 9% so you definitely will be better off. Came back with $889 and payment when I'm paying 634 with worst credit. My credit is almost 700 when I had the last one 627. They are only there to rip you off. Please don't buy from this dealer go to Sarat Toyota for Sarah Kia, where I'm going right now cause I promised they could beat, this place plus they're the worst customer service I've ever seen if you don't believe me I'm sorry you don't but they will rip you off.
