My son and I went in to make his first purchase! Such an awesome experience working with Gary Thorne- sales consultant! He mad this experience well worth it... However the finance department representative had no respect for our time even after her knowledge that we had other obligated appointments already scheduled. We had to sit and wait on her prior to and during the signing was an awful long drawn out experience! Please go and see Gary!!

Bought a new Toyota (technically used from another dealership) almost 6 months ago and brought it in for its first maintenance (5k). Made the appt online and entered all my info and VIN, but I guess since HT was the original seller, they still had all the other guy's info. So had to provide all that info again. They asked if I also wanted a software update so I said sure. Didn't mention if it would take any longer so I assumed it would not. I had budgeted 1.5 hours for the tire rotation and light multi-point inspection which is the 5k check-up. It ended up taking well over 2 hours with no explanation. Other people had come and gone. (For comparison: Spouse took our other vehicle to a club warehouse for rotate and balance that night with no appt and only 2 guys working and it took less time.) Friend who bought from HT last year also mentioned that service is taking way longer than it used to. There seems to be a lot of people front-of-house in the service department, so I guess maybe they're still taking in the same volume and there's short staffing in the back? I know now that I'll need to drop it off the night before and plan on leaving it most or all-day for future scheduled maintenance appointments. I do appreciate the courtesy coffee and water, though.

Charged me 8.00 for a oil filter that on their website is 4.28. Should have just purchased online instead of trying to support a local business.

Took forever. Expensive. They Wouldn't balance and rotate tires without getting new tires.

I bought a truck here in December of 2020 and came back again in 2025 for a Corvette--because apparently I make excellent financial decisions when I walk through their doors. But the real reason I keep coming back is the service department. Every bit of maintenance on my vehicles has been done here, and they've never given me a reason to even think about going somewhere else. The folks in the back always treat me right--professional, friendly, and they don't make me feel like I need to bring a sleeping bag while I wait. Quick, prompt service every time. People ask me all the time why I don't just get my vehicles serviced locally, like at Tuscaloosa Chevrolet. I tell them the same thing: I like knowing when I show up, I actually have a spot and a plan. Being able to schedule an appointment beats rolling the dice with drive-up service and hoping for the best. And I'd be leaving out an important detail if I didn't mention the handheld donuts and coffee--they're a nice touch to help feed the fatty cells and wake up some sleepy eyes. Truth be told, I don't even wander too close to that area anymore... those donuts are just a little too tempting. At the end of the day, I've never had a bad experience here--and when something works this well, I'm not about to "fix" it by going somewhere else. As long as I'm driving vehicles I bought here, they'll be the ones taking care of them.

We knew what we were looking for and the sales person pointed us in the direction of the cars we wanted to look at. We went down the row looking at the different cars. Once you find one you like, you can scan the QR code to see if it is available. I liked that the cars were open so we could get in and see what the interior was like without having to bother anyone. We found one we liked and went and told someone inside. They then brought the car around and told us to take it for a test drive after getting some basic info from us. After the test drive, we went back inside and bought the car. No pressure, no haggling. I looked up same make, model, mileage, and year online and CarMax price was better than the others I saw for sale. We were in and out in under two hours. Fastest car purchase I ever made. My son will be looking to buy a car soon and I am definitely going to make him go to a CarMax near him. They really do have the best selection of cars and you can have a lot of cars shipped to your nearest location if you see one you like better at another CarMax. If it isn't super far away, it will ship for free. But if it's far the shipping fee isn't that bad if you really think it is the car you want. We have had cars shipped twice now and have bought both of them.

But instead of getting back to me after I had test-driven a car that I had paid to have shipped from another CarMax and that I had said was quite a nice car, he told me that 'it had been very busy', offering that as an excuse as to why the car that should have been on hold for me was now promised to another customer. He then said he would 'sell me the car, if I would buy it today', thus leaving the customer to whom the car was currently promised, without a car or an explanation, I suspect. Very disappointing.

The trade-in valuation and offer was extremely low. After looking at the truck for 5 min I noticed it was not the truck I requested to see. The salesman apologized and told us his medical history made it hard for him to remember things (bizarre). The truck he showed us was also conveniently $7000 more than the truck we came to see. We waited for him to find the vehicle I requested to see only to be escorted to the far end of the parking lot to a Tacoma that had crumbs still in the seats, scratches and paint chips all throughout the vehicle and a service light indicator on the dashboard when you turned the truck on. They couldn't even bother to take the truck through a $5 car wash before presenting it. It looked and felt filthy inside. The salesman then made another excuse and said their detailer hadn't been to work lately. Seriously???? He said since they had only sold 1 vehicle today, he'd go talk to his manager about possibly getting the first truck down in price. We waited by the first truck for about 10 min when whoever came out (because he never introduced himself or asked for our names) looked mostly at our salesman instead of my wife and I to tell him(us) that lowering the price of the first vehicle was not going to be an option. I'm not sure if this is because we're both woman and they thought we wouldn't notice being shown a more expensive vehicle or if it was embarrassment at showing customers a dirty vehicle and being called out for both issues but both the salesman and whoever came out to talk to him(us) created the worst potential car buying experience we have ever had. I would absolutely not recommend this dealership. The professionalism alone was severely lacking. We left and drove 2 min down the road to Tameron Hyundai where we were greeted appropriately. Everyone we spoke to shook our hand and introduced themselves (this is bare minimum customer service by the way) and we happily drove home in a 2025 Toyota Tacoma.

He was fantastic with explaining everything, making sure I had all the accessories that came with my truck, explaining the financing options, etc. This dealership had the best price on the truck with the options that I wanted anywhere around. Plus Justin showed me their "care" sheet which was everything that their dealership did with the vehicle after they got it, which even had included dent repairs, new tires, wiper blades, oil change, air filters, etc. They even helped me get a second key for the truck as it only came with one from the previous buyer. There was ZERO pressure to buy a more expensive model. They didn't try to sell me things I didn't need. They made sure I was aware of the available insurances and warranty plans and the actual cost of those plans. They also showed me interest rates from several financial institutions to make sure I got the best loan rate. I would absolutely buy another vehicle from here and deal with Justin again.

I was quoted over $2200 for the 60k service. Mind you, my car has literally 50,000 miles and is still practically new and I take extremely good care of it. I was so shocked by how casually they quoted me that price and how the salesperson/technician kept such a straight face while trying to explain why it cost that much. The part that made me concerned was him saying I needed a new battery (which was true although mine was only 18 months old) but quoting me $450 for it... I went straight to autozone and showed a technician- first, I got the exact same battery purchased and immediately installed for $220. Then, he spent over an hour with me explaining each service and the parts needed, and told me I could buy every single thing at autozone and take my car to Pepboys for them to perform the services for under $1k TOTAL. He literally said that the dealership was scamming the daylights out of me. As a woman who is clueless about cars I know I have to be careful not to be taken advantage of by greedy salespeople like this, but it's sad! I will not be coming back. They also charged $120 FOR AN OIL CHANGE.... I wasn't told the price until after it was completed, I should've asked up front, but I would never have expected that. It's literally $30 to buy a quart of fully synthetic oil and it takes 20 mins max to change the oil, it's all under the hood of the car (not even underneath the car) on my model! ROBBERY!!!!

I was assigned…read moresalesman Rob Hurt, and he was incredibly helpful and patient as I explored not only that vehicle but several others on the lot. Before leaving that first visit, I test drove a vehicle that I really liked. Rob explained that I could place a $300 refundable deposit to hold the car while I finalized the insurance and financing details related to my totaled vehicle. Since the deposit was refundable, there was no risk, so I decided to put it down before leaving. Over the next several days, I made a few visits to the dealership to make sure it was truly the right vehicle for me. I even brought my son back so he could test drive it and give it another look. Rob was very patient and accommodating through the entire process. There was one visit where I became quite frustrated and was honestly tempted to walk out. I was simply trying to keep the car on hold and needed to leave so I could get my son home to study for an exam. However, either Mr. Hurt or his manager, Shomari, kept attempting to run my credit and finance the vehicle through their system even after I explained that I would be securing financing through my credit union. That part of the experience felt unnecessarily pressured, and I did express my frustration to Rob. One interesting feature of the process was their high tech system where you go into a private room and complete a virtual meeting to review warranty options and sign paperwork electronically. That was actually a pretty neat and modern experience. During the process, I received an email from Service Director Mr. Bowlin asking how everything was going. I replied honestly and explained the frustration from my most recent visit, but unfortunately I never received a response. I was eventually able to finalize the deal and complete the purchase. Rob was wonderful throughout the entire process, and I truly do not believe he was the one pushing to run my financing through their banks. That was simply the impression I got. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle, the car alerted me that it needed an oil change. I reached out to Rob to ask if the dealership might take care of that in good faith since I had just purchased the vehicle. He checked with the service department and told me they could perform the service, but that I would be charged for it. Personally, I feel that a large, reputable dealership should at minimum ensure the oil is fresh before selling a used vehicle. Shortly after that, Mr. Bowlin emailed again asking what they could have done differently to earn a five star review. I responded and shared the same concerns mentioned here. Unfortunately, I never received a reply to that email either. Overall, the experience was a positive one, largely thanks to Rob's patience and professionalism. A side note worth mentioning (in my opinion) is there are positive affirmations in the restrooms and Christian music playing in the building. My only disappointment was the lack of follow up when I shared concerns and gave the dealership an opportunity to address them. For that reason, I'm leaving four stars instead of five.
