Had an unexpected problem, they did a great job correcting it. Also made adjustments to the repair process to accommodate our schedule.

I bought a truck here in December of 2020 and came back again in 2025 for a Corvette--because apparently I make excellent financial decisions when I walk through their doors. But the real reason I keep coming back is the service department. Every bit of maintenance on my vehicles has been done here, and they've never given me a reason to even think about going somewhere else. The folks in the back always treat me right--professional, friendly, and they don't make me feel like I need to bring a sleeping bag while I wait. Quick, prompt service every time. People ask me all the time why I don't just get my vehicles serviced locally, like at Tuscaloosa Chevrolet. I tell them the same thing: I like knowing when I show up, I actually have a spot and a plan. Being able to schedule an appointment beats rolling the dice with drive-up service and hoping for the best. And I'd be leaving out an important detail if I didn't mention the handheld donuts and coffee--they're a nice touch to help feed the fatty cells and wake up some sleepy eyes. Truth be told, I don't even wander too close to that area anymore... those donuts are just a little too tempting. At the end of the day, I've never had a bad experience here--and when something works this well, I'm not about to "fix" it by going somewhere else. As long as I'm driving vehicles I bought here, they'll be the ones taking care of them.

Stressed, anxious, uncertain, I walked into Hendrick Chevrolet. When you add my Type A, single-mom-of-many, no-car-during-the-holidays *charming* personality to the mix, I don't know how Bailey, Gabe, and Malachi didn't pretend they were all out of cars. Instead, they welcomed me. These men were professional and patient, while being accommodating and adaptable. My 327 million questions, thoughts, musings never phased them. They came alongside me to find the best fitting, safest, financially wisest option in their inventory. The work these men did went above "selling a car." They invested time and energy into the well-being of a whole family. Certainly not the stereotypical car salesman. I'll be back--Lord knows I have enough children that will need cars one day all too soon ;)

We found one we liked and went and told someone inside. They then brought the car around and told us to take it for a test drive after getting some basic info from us. After the test drive, we went back inside and bought the car. No pressure, no haggling. I looked up same make, model, mileage, and year online and CarMax price was better than the others I saw for sale. We were in and out in under two hours. Fastest car purchase I ever made. My son will be looking to buy a car soon and I am definitely going to make him go to a CarMax near him. They really do have the best selection of cars and you can have a lot of cars shipped to your nearest location if you see one you like better at another CarMax. If it isn't super far away, it will ship for free. But if it's far the shipping fee isn't that bad if you really think it is the car you want. But instead of getting back to me after I had test-driven a car that I had paid to have shipped from another CarMax and that I had said was quite a nice car, he told me that 'it had been very busy', offering that as an excuse as to why the car that should have been on hold for me was now promised to another customer. He then said he would 'sell me the car, if I would buy it today', thus leaving the customer to whom the car was currently promised, without a car or an explanation, I suspect. Very disappointing.

After looking at the truck for 5 min I noticed it was not the truck I requested to see. The salesman apologized and told us his medical history made it hard for him to remember things (bizarre). The truck he showed us was also conveniently $7000 more than the truck we came to see. We waited for him to find the vehicle I requested to see only to be escorted to the far end of the parking lot to a Tacoma that had crumbs still in the seats, scratches and paint chips all throughout the vehicle and a service light indicator on the dashboard when you turned the truck on. They couldn't even bother to take the truck through a $5 car wash before presenting it. It looked and felt filthy inside. The salesman then made another excuse and said their detailer hadn't been to work lately. Seriously???? He said since they had only sold 1 vehicle today, he'd go talk to his manager about possibly getting the first truck down in price. We waited by the first truck for about 10 min when whoever came out (because he never introduced himself or asked for our names) looked mostly at our salesman instead of my wife and I to tell him(us) that lowering the price of the first vehicle was not going to be an option. I'm not sure if this is because we're both woman and they thought we wouldn't notice being shown a more expensive vehicle or if it was embarrassment at showing customers a dirty vehicle and being called out for both issues but both the salesman and whoever came out to talk to him(us) created the worst potential car buying experience we have ever had. I would absolutely not recommend this dealership. The professionalism alone was severely lacking. We left and drove 2 min down the road to Tameron Hyundai where we were greeted appropriately. Everyone we spoke to shook our hand and introduced themselves (this is bare minimum customer service by the way) and we happily drove home in a 2025 Toyota Tacoma.

I was assigned…read moresalesman Rob Hurt, and he was incredibly helpful and patient as I explored not only that vehicle but several others on the lot. Before leaving that first visit, I test drove a vehicle that I really liked. Rob explained that I could place a $300 refundable deposit to hold the car while I finalized the insurance and financing details related to my totaled vehicle. Since the deposit was refundable, there was no risk, so I decided to put it down before leaving. Over the next several days, I made a few visits to the dealership to make sure it was truly the right vehicle for me. I even brought my son back so he could test drive it and give it another look. Rob was very patient and accommodating through the entire process. There was one visit where I became quite frustrated and was honestly tempted to walk out. I was simply trying to keep the car on hold and needed to leave so I could get my son home to study for an exam. However, either Mr. Hurt or his manager, Shomari, kept attempting to run my credit and finance the vehicle through their system even after I explained that I would be securing financing through my credit union. That part of the experience felt unnecessarily pressured, and I did express my frustration to Rob. One interesting feature of the process was their high tech system where you go into a private room and complete a virtual meeting to review warranty options and sign paperwork electronically. That was actually a pretty neat and modern experience. During the process, I received an email from Service Director Mr. Bowlin asking how everything was going. I replied honestly and explained the frustration from my most recent visit, but unfortunately I never received a response. I was eventually able to finalize the deal and complete the purchase. Rob was wonderful throughout the entire process, and I truly do not believe he was the one pushing to run my financing through their banks. That was simply the impression I got. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle, the car alerted me that it needed an oil change. I reached out to Rob to ask if the dealership might take care of that in good faith since I had just purchased the vehicle. He checked with the service department and told me they could perform the service, but that I would be charged for it. Personally, I feel that a large, reputable dealership should at minimum ensure the oil is fresh before selling a used vehicle. Shortly after that, Mr. Bowlin emailed again asking what they could have done differently to earn a five star review. I responded and shared the same concerns mentioned here. Unfortunately, I never received a reply to that email either. Overall, the experience was a positive one, largely thanks to Rob's patience and professionalism. A side note worth mentioning (in my opinion) is there are positive affirmations in the restrooms and Christian music playing in the building. My only disappointment was the lack of follow up when I shared concerns and gave the dealership an opportunity to address them. For that reason, I'm leaving four stars instead of five.

On the way home from the…read moredealership, the very day of purchase, the check engine light came on and the vehicle went into limp mode. I contacted Dylan about this issue, and a week later they sent a car hauler to our house to pick it up and have brought back for repair (we live 2 1/2 hours away). We had purchased the extended warranty offered the day we bought the vehicle also, but Dylan asked us not to contact the warranty company since it had happened so soon. A little over 3 weeks later, my husband & I drove back to Hoover and picked up the vehicle. I was never once mad or upset towards them at all about anything. I truly loved the vehicle I purchased and was so thankful & grateful to them for repairing & returning. There was no charge to us for a single bit of it, but again, it had happened the very day we bought it, so I wasn't expecting a fee of any sort, and was very thankful for that. Three months later, the exact same issue/situation occurred. We took the vehicle to a local auto repair that is certified in working on import cars of any kind, and we paid out of our pocket $460 for the same repair to the same system on the vehicle. Literally 3 months later, very same thing occurred. I took it back to our local certified repair company. They fixed the issue, but advised me if it happened again they recommended I take it back to the dealership for advisement. Middle of January, not even a month later, EXACT SAME ISSUE. I contacted Dylan who said if we could bring it to their repair shop, Ultimate Auto Care in Pelham, AL, that weekend that they would have their service guy fix it. So, I did. Almost 3 weeks to the day, I was in Cape Girardeau, MO with my daughter for a volleyball tournament, and yes, the same EXACT SAME ISSUE, happened again. My husband had to drive 4 hours to us to pick the vehicle up because he was too scared for us to try to get it home by ourselves. This is the point that I realized no matter how much I loved this vehicle, I couldn't keep taking a risk of it doing this again, especially traveling with my kids. My husband contacted Dylan about us possibly doing a trade for something comparable and he said for us to come see him. Yesterday we went to Hoover Southtown and I found an SUV that I liked. It was around $2,000 more than my original purchase, but we were fine with that, and expected a higher monthly payment. Our new payments were going to be around $400 more a month than our current one, and again completely fine with that. No issue at all. We went through all the paperwork and then Dylan told us he would need a $5,000 check from us as a down payment. I was stunned. He said the car's value had deteriorated $14,000 since we purchased it and that they actually did us a favor by not counting the cost of the current repair it was going to need. Let me say this, our credit rating I know wasn't the best, it wasn't terrible, but it didn't fall into a top category either. This was due to a close family member of ours getting into a very difficult financial situation due to a death, and we had been putting a bit of a strain on ourselves to help them. We have never once missed a vehicle payment, not once. What I never could get Dylan to understand though, is that it wasn't about us not being able to put $5,000+ down as a down payment. It was about doing the right thing, integrity, being a good business. They knew we had major problems the very day we drove it off their lot, and continued to for the next 8 months. I have all the service records from every single time it's been taken in for the exact same thing, with detailed notes from the mechanics. Their own repair person at Ultimate Auto Care had just "fixed" it 3 weeks prior to us being there yesterday. Dylan informed me on a text after we left (that I have) that they "can decide to put as much money into a car as they want to, but that doesn't change the fact that there are values they are somewhat bound by, to some degree, if they want to continue operating." His words. In the same text he also said they took about a $400,000 beating last year over values changing. His words again. So, basically they weren't going to take responsibility in any type way for any part of the situation. Again, he said they could decide to put as much money into a car as they want to, but even knowing the major issue we have had since Day 1 of purchase, that continued for 8 months, wasn't something they wanted to take a "loss" on. I don't know how that's doing good business, or what that says about the business morals or integrity of Hoover Southtown. The absolute worse part of all of it is that I absolutely LOVE my current vehicle. I don't want to have part with it. I truly teared up when I realized in Cape Girardeau that I had to. I just can't risk traveling with my kids and something like that happening again. I know there's nothing I can do, but I want my story to be heard.
