Looking for the perfect used Porsche caused me to look at other states. I found a few one in Alabama and one in Tennessee and started asking questions. The particular car that met my criteria was at Bingham Alabama Porsche dealership . When I called first and talk to a random sales person right off the bat I felt he was not going to work with me..I basically formed him with a series of questions. Then I did my research. Found that Ernest Garver had the best reviews. You must understand that buying a car out of state and not going out to look at it is a process. Trust was built with Ernest to inspect the CPO car for cosmetic items that the warranty would not cover. He was honest and fair ... we were able to get the BIG items fixed before making the deal. He express small items that just were not going to be fixed that the car was priced as is for those and it would be my responsibility to fix. If you have to buy a car and you're not able to hire or go there to inspect it I recommend asking for Ernest. When shopping for a vehicle, they were extremely responsive getting back to me to set up a test drive. Very friendly and not pushy at all. They were happy to answer all of our questions. All of their vehicles are top notch. This dealership knows exactly how to customize and order their Porsche vehicles with the perfect combination of features. There are no base models here like you will find at other dealerships. I recently brought my car in for its first yearly service and once again had an outstanding experience. Everyone was once again super friendly. They provided me with a complimentary loaner vehicle so that I could run a few errands while my car was being serviced. They communicate efficiently through their text service to keep you up to date also. The service center has a complimentary refreshment area with snacks and drinks as well as Wi-Fi. There's seating if you choose to wait for your vehicle as well. I travel an hour and a half just to do business with this dealership because they are that good. I've purchased several cars from this dealership over the years. Typically a painless transaction with little to no hassle. My current gripes keeping them from a 5 star rating are: Inventory selection is always extremely limited for a metro of this size. You're always going to have to order the well optioned cars. Location is simply terrible, I don't understand why all those dealerships are out there. Remodel process has been going on forever. I had a horrible experience with this dealership, particularly with the Service Department. It takes weeks/months to get a service appointment (even if your vehicle is inoperable), they rarely have loaners (even when willing to wait for one), and they failed to fix the issue with my vehicle during the warranty period (which caused me to have several thousand dollars in subsequent repair efforts). Can I just say what a wow experience! Having been in customer service for over 20 years, we were treated with the utmost respect. We weren't here to buy a Porsche. We were buying a used Volkswagen. A $15000 vehicle at the Porsche dealership. Our salesman Steve was fantastic. He stuck beside us through the entire process. He even hand polished the car to ensure we were happy. The only issue we had was with financing. The gentleman doing our paperwork forgot to have us sign in a few spots so we had to drive back out there but they were extremely apologetic and got us in and out quickly. read more

You know your working with a good company when the service manager (Tracey) and the mechanic stayed late on a Saturday and finished the work on my car. They were so professional and so nice I really appreciated being treated so well. I live in Tupelo and willingly drive the extra hour each way to use this dealership instead of the one in Memphis because the service is so much better. Thank you to the entire staff for making a 5 hour round trip drive for an oil change and interim service worth it. Back again. Worth the 2:15 hour drive to have my car serviced here. Just bought a pre-owned vehicle from them. Everything seemed good until my vehicle was delivered. I am located in Texas so I never saw the vehicle in person, they had provided lots of picture. About 30 min after it was delivered I noticed the leather on the dashboard had separated. This was never disclosed and the dealership claims that this wasn't there when the vehicle was picked up. So apparently in the 30 minutes it took me to notice the issue is when the leather separated. read more

Well this review is more about Porsche Automotive, than the dealership. I bought new a boxster which is within 2 mo this if being out of warranty. The stop/start feature quit working. So I take to Porsche Birmingham. It's diagnosed as follows. Your battery check still good, however the cars computer says it's at 75% or less than new output. So it shut the auto start/stop feature off. Porsche will not authorize replacement because based on my average mileage months in service vs mileage I'm about 40 miles a month or whatever low. So I have a vehicle with apex. 21000 miles on it with 2 months left on warranty but Porsche won't allow battery replacement. So I have a feature that will not work because the autos computer decides it's not new enough. Now I can allow the dealer to install a Porsche new battery with installation at near $500 dollars. I don't think so, especially since I can acquire from Interstate Battery distributor a better battery for a bit over $100 my cost not MSRP. But wait, if I have my staff install I still must carry vehicle to Porsche Dealer to have the control unit reinitialized so it knows it has a new battery. Luckily Porsche Birmingham as good faith did not charge the normal $100 plus for this little tidbit. Hats off to Porsche Birmingham, as they did what they could. But as to Porsche USA , I feel like we're being duped and lassoed to force customers back to dealers for a normal service item. This nears a violation on the Magnuson-Moss warranty act violation. And since in actuality it constitutes a change in the EPA fuel rating, it may very well be in violation of that. Just a thought sine Volkswagen just got over a huge buy back and correction because of computer EPA trickery ,,,,and since Porsche is owned by same, this too might get into that area. Again, I thank Porsche Birmingham for trying but my complaint and questions will be forwarded to both EPA and DOT. Some may ask why dealer just didn't install and take the loss ? Well dealers can't be assuming loss for things the manufacturer should be covering. I have enough my Porsche but this has really tainted my view of them read more

I visited the Tom Williams Porsche dealership today to have routine maintenance. The check in process was fine and the service ran longer then anticipated. While I waited, I walked to some of the other Tom Williams dealerships. I first visited the Dodge dealership where I was quickly approached by a very helpful and friendly young man and we chatted. I inquired about the Hellcat and he was knowledgeable and helpful. I then walked to the BMW lot looked around at the cars on the outside, went inside and browsed all the floor models. I saw at least 5 employees there mostly all on their computer and a few on their mobile phones. I spent about 15 minutes there and not a single person even spoke to me. I left there and headed across to the Lexus dealership. There was a receptionist typing on her mobile phone and didn't notice I walked in. I browsed all the floor models there, and again, not a single person spoke to me. There was one wiping down Cars, and three at their desks on their mobile phones. I then returned to the Porsche dealership walked around a bit then sat down in the service department for about an hour. I decided to walk over to the Porsche showroom and found a person at the front desk on their mobile phone. I had to approach him to ask if I could talk to a person about the new Cayenne. He then quickly put me in touch with Lee. Lee was very pleasant, very knowledgable and we talked about all the Porsche models for well over 30 minutes. I guess the point of this story is, I was not once approached, I had to make the first effort at communication. I believe this is a prime example of a business not able to recognize their customer . I currently own a 2015 911 Turbo S and a 2014 Cayenne Turbo S as well as other cars; I am a car enthusiast and love exotic and luxury autos. I am fortunate enough to be able to purchase any automobile I like with cash. I could have easily been a purchasing customer today, maybe over at BMW because I really like the M series of cars. Brought in my 2015 Porsche Macan S for routine service and a recall. The appointment was confirmed and I was processed and on my way in about 5 minutes. The service was completed later on that day and I decided to pick up my vehicle the next day. My pick up was smooth and took about 5 minutes and the service department apparently completed some additional recall campaigns which was thoroughly explained. I had communicated about the Porsche for several weeks with Jim and was finally able to break free long enough to visit the dealership. Unfortunately the car I was going to get was sold the day before. Jim was out of the office, so Ben took over for him. Ben showed me a similar car and I was able to quickly and easily make a purchase. I had a 9:00am appt to have my oil changed. I arrived a little late at 9:20. Since I was there I asked to have them set up my Free XM radio trial. I left 3 & 1/2 hours later, yes 3. & 1/2 hours later. $550 poorer no XM radio. They said my trial had expired.but offered me $30 for me to activate myself. "That should get you six months". This is not my first disappointing experience with Tom Williams Porsche. We also had a particularly bad experience when we purchased the car 6 months ago. 0 for 2. Not looking good. Each and every time, whether it be for routine maintenance, minor warranty repair, track inspections, or this last time, a full engine assembly replacement on my 2015 GT3 ($40K warranty repair), Tracy Hebert-Service Advisor and Andrew Morris-Gold Certified Tech have delivered an exceptional experience. Every interaction from the appointment availability, responsiveness to vm's, follow-up, detailed explanations when applicable, and quality of the work being completed exceeded my expectations. I recently took my 2013 Porsche Boxster S in for oil change, as well as maintenance on a malfunctioning PCM. As it turns out, the PCM was not fixed and the car is back at the dealership. The only other things were small, but things you would expect to be done at a high-end luxury car dealership: the maintenance was not written or stamped into the car's maintenance book, even though I had left it out on the passenger seat; and the time had not been changed on the car after the daylight savings time shift (the car was at the dealership during the change). Picky? At a Ford or Chevrolet dealership, maybe...but not at a Porsche establishment. read more

This review could really go either way depending on who experienced it. Most people might go 1 star but for the sake of transparency and benefit of the doubt I'm giving them 3 stars. Don't get me wrong I would recommend this dealership to anybody. Please read along and I'll explain why and maybe future clients/customer can learn from my experience. My sales guy was Bart. And he was excellent. I'll give him 5 stars if I have to rate him alone. Make the story a little shorter, I made an offer to buy their Cayman. Was not accepted nor rejected. After a few days, the listing went down lower than what I offered. Called them immediately and asked them why it was listed lower than my offer. Was told it was a mistake, which was fine by me. Some may think otherwise. The next day Bart called me telling me that they want to maintain the integrity of the company and wanted to offer my the lower listed price instead of my offer. I was ecstatic. They didn't have to do that. They could've said, it was a mistake but they'll take my first offer. I salute them for that especially Bart who made it happen. Now, I sent all my info for financing so I will know what's my APR and I can decide if I'll try my bank here in Florida if I can find a lower rate before I fly to Birmingham to get the car. Finance manager called me and said my APR was 3.18%. (Btw, my credit score was 821). I know I heard it right because I made her tell me my monthly payments and wrote it on paper. I wanted my monthly payment to be at 550 per month. When I asked what is the payment if I put 13k down payment, it was way lower, around 539 per month, so I asked her what if it's 12k down payment, she said it was 556 per month which is where I wanted to be. Also, I'm sure it was 3.18% because I went and try the autotrader calculator if it's accurate. Put the numbers in including tax and dealers fee and It was very close to what she told me. So I accepted it. She said she's gonna get it ready when I get there. I did not bother going to my bank since I thought 3.18% was about right basing on my research with excellent credit score (821). I was picked up from the airport by Lee who was a great guy. Very patient, accommodating and just a very nice person. 10 stars for him if you ask me. Now, the surprise, upon signing of papers. The same finance manager I talked to over the phone told me my APR was 4.18%!!! Surprise!!! I told her how did it happen? She said it's been like that. I insisted and reminded her about our conversation over the phone and she offered to take off some extras to lower the payment. So now I'm paying 562 per month with my 13k down payment without extras instead of 539 per month with extras. I could've have walked out but I flew from Florida to Alabama. Also, I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she may have type a wrong number in her computer while she was on the phone with me. Still, the difference between the two APRs is 23 dollars per month x 72 months = I lost 1,656 dollars for a simple "mistake". I know It's not a lot of money, but very disappointing if you're expecting something different. It could be an honest mistake. I'll let the reader decide. This is a great company with excellent staffs. I still recommended them to my friend whom after driving my Cayman want to buy one too. Although, I advised him to make sure they send him a copy of the APR agreement before flying there so there's no "mistake" or surprises. read more

I've used Porsche Birmingham (formerly Tom Williams Porsche) for over 15 years with no issues. Service writers/advisors have always been cordial and professional. The sales and support staffs are friendly and know their product lines and customer service. Since I'm an "out-of-towner", I typically wait while my car is serviced which has given me an opportunity to observe these various activities for several years. This store manages it's customer service program quite well. If you want to talk to the service advisor - do so. If your want to talk to a sales advisor - do so. There's no pressure to push anything, and I've found everyone very cordial. read more

My Boxster was towed to this dealership from Tuscaloosa. I provided the representative with my information. After 4 days of no communication, I contacted him to ascertain the problem. I was informed my vehicle had been listed under another name and the diagnostician hadn't looked at it yet. I attempted to communicate with the dealership via phone numerous times and was unable to make contact with a representative. My calls to Sam Fuller & Rodney McFarland to register my dissatisfaction with customer service went unanswered and unacknowledged. On the 5th day, I was advised of the problem. As a Porsche owner, I have had the privilege of dealing with dealerships in Atlanta and Jacksonville, FL, and I can honestly say this dealership does not deserve to have the name Porsche associated with it. This dealership definitely does not epitomize nor exemplify the qualities associated with Porsche, from an owners perspective. I wouldn't recommend this dealership if I owned a Yugo. read more
