I've been doing business with Hendrick Chevrolet Hoover for several years now, and at this point they might as well put my name on a parking spot. I bought a truck here in December of 2020 and came back again in 2025 for a Corvette--because apparently I make excellent financial decisions when I walk through their doors. But the real reason I keep coming back is the service department. Every bit of maintenance on my vehicles has been done here, and they've never given me a reason to even think about going somewhere else. The folks in the back always treat me right--professional, friendly, and they don't make me feel like I need to bring a sleeping bag while I wait. Quick, prompt service every time. People ask me all the time why I don't just get my vehicles serviced locally, like at Tuscaloosa Chevrolet. I tell them the same thing: I like knowing when I show up, I actually have a spot and a plan. Being able to schedule an appointment beats rolling the dice with drive-up service and hoping for the best. And I'd be leaving out an important detail if I didn't mention the handheld donuts and coffee--they're a nice touch to help feed the fatty cells and wake up some sleepy eyes. Truth be told, I don't even wander too close to that area anymore... those donuts are just a little too tempting. At the end of the day, I've never had a bad experience here--and when something works this well, I'm not about to "fix" it by going somewhere else. TERRIBLE DEALER, I would never work with them. I was looking at the Hendrick Vehicles online and I saw that there was truck available that was exactly what we were looking for. I pressed the check availability button and shortly after I got a call and was told it was available I said great I will be in today to look at it please have it ready when I get there and set up a time. I drive 45 minutes over there and when I get there the vehicle isn't ready, no worries. I also find out who ever called me was manager so they offloaded me on to sales associate which I didn't love but it was fine. I Ask to see the truck, and he goes to get the keys, I wait for about 30 minutes and comes back and tells me he can't show me the truck because apparently one of the managers neighbors had already called dibs, I guess. I ask, have they put any money down or signed any paperwork they say no, so I say then its still available and I'm here now so let's see it. He goes back in to the manager box and we wait another 30 minutes in that time I decided to call the manager who I was supposed to meet with and ask what the deal is he said sorry it was out of his hands and so I said bring me bag my keys I'm leaving. I know that if it was me that said can you hold it for me but didn't sign anything or put any money down they'd say no. So thanks Hendrick Chevrolet wasting my time, If it wasn't available when I called which apparently this I'll hold for you has been in the works for several days now. Then don't tell me it is. WHERE DO I START!?!? Let's keep it short and sweet; went in to trade in a car I hated, I wanted a Tahoe. They offered me 10.9% interest. They played the stupid sales game and got down to 7.8 something. I walked out after being advised it was a ridiculous offer by colleagues. I started shopping around at other dealerships all the meanwhile being harassed by the sales team; blowing my phone up, not leaving me alone!!! I find out they ran my credit 12 TIMES. 12!!!!!!!!! Was happy with their salesmen (JT and Jarvis), but their finance manager ? (some woman- short blondish hair, don't know her name) was rude, pushy, acted like we were stupid and kept calling my Flex a square van (why go out of your way to offend the customer?!) and said the Flex is on a truck chassis when it is listed as a crossover and it is on the same chassis as the Taurus and Explorer; not trucks. The salesmen and a different manager kept calling and emailing after our test drive, but sorry guys, that woman screwed you out of a sale! They also were going to basically steal my trade-in with the offer they gave me. That woman couldn't believe another dealership offered $2000 more than they would. My fiancé brought his car here for work that needed to be done on the front end. After two months of them "working" on the car we had missed multiple trips and even had to move cross-country because the car was still not ready. Chad had the audacity to lie to us saying that the car was being delivered and gave us the name of a shipping company that our insurance investigator discovered did not exist! We were repeatedly lied to about the progress and location of the car. When the car finally was delivered after we had to involve lawyers, there was a persistent squeaking noise. We took the car in to a different mechanic only to find that Hendricks Chevrolet had left off multiple bolts off of one of the tires- risking it falling off while driving! They had also installed the tire plate on the other front tire backwards, causing it to scratch and severely damage the tire. Two and a half months of runarounds, blatant lies to us and our insurance investigator, and shotty (and potentially dangerous!) workmanship from Hendricks Chevrolet. read more

This is a negative 10 review!! We dropped off our truck 12/07, talked to Mark ( scheduled an appointment) told him we was going on vacation and would need the truck back 12/18. Mark called 12/12 Tuesday. We was in port so we could call him back. He said parts had came in and would be truck would be repaired later that day. We reminded him we had to have the truck back 12/18 He said he remembered. 12/18 we went to pick up the truck. The truck was NOT READY. Then Mark changed his story... said Friday when the tech was replacing the switch, the other ones began breaking. Wait, he said the repair was done on Tuesday, 3 days earlier. Was then told the parts would be in either that day, Monday, or on Tuesday. He said they would come get the truck to do the repair because we need the truck for work. Tuesday 12-19, I called Steward Pike , told him what was going on. He told me he needed to talk with Mark to get to the bottom of it. He called me back at 11:30am. Mark was still telling the second story, which story is true? Was then told the tech did not realize the switches was in different sections. How ? He had to remove the cover to check them . He had a parts list to request the correct part (s). Was told that they were going to check on the tracking, shouldn't this have already been done ? At 4:30 pm Mark called. No parts has arrived still. They missed the one day shipping, what does that mean ?? When was the repair actually started? When was the parts really ordered? I feel like they DO NOT CARE, and just want me to shut up... well I am not just going to shut up! I demand answers and will contact their corporate offices and Chevrolet if necessary!! CAUTION THEY DO NOT DO WHAT THEY TELL YOU THEY WILL !!!! I will NOT spend one more dollar there !! read more

I have several complaints with this dealership. Starting with sales, they force you to buy these add ons. I wanted to take off the $1000 plus "lo-Jack" subscription, but they would not take it off. They said they "could not" take it off. I bought the $78k 2022 Tahoe RST anyway because it was exactly what I had been looking for in an SUV color wise and all. Fast forward from that experience to four months later, the Tahoe overheated. The fan also would continue to run after being shut off. I brought it in, and they just said the coolant was low and was probably never properly filled before. The fan running issue stopped after this point. We've been monitoring the fluid levels, and the coolant has been leaking over the past month and a half. The overflow tank is already almost empty (below the low fill line see attached pictures from December and then mid February). So we brought it in again with some things to check (blown head gasket and a few other things). The service rep glanced at the paper with things to check and handed it back to me. He never even gave it to the foreman. They then called me back an hour later to say that there was not an issue. My husband talked to the foreman and sorted out that it did need to be looked at more because there is an issue with leaking. The service rep set up a rental for us to pick up the next day (Sunday) because they had procrastinated actually assessing the problem until enterprise had closed. we were to leave our car there and put the keys in the drop box on Sunday. Well the dealership was closed Sunday. So we couldn't even drive the car into the lot to leave it and the keys. So we made another wasted trip. We also had a faulty tire that should've been covered 50% by warranty. They didn't cover it. I also got a screw in the middle of my tread in a different tire that I was going to have them plug while the other issues were being assessed. They told me they couldn't Plug it because it was in the "sidewall". So we brought it elsewhere and had that tire plugged because it was smack in the middle of the tread. On that note, I believe this service department in my opinion is trying to "pull one" on females to get another buck. This dealership and service department are all about another buck and not the customer in my opinion, and they are apparently not equipped with knowledgeable enough staff to actually find what is wrong with your vehicle. The service manager also never returns calls when he says he is going to do so. I have more complaints, but that is the bulk of the issue. read more

We were traveling to Florida for vacation and started having engine trouble in Hoover, AL. We stopped for the night to have the vehicle ran through a diagnostic test at Hendrick Chevrolet. They assured me their facility had the latest technology for diagnostic testing. Within an hour, service advisor Mark Sullivan told me the "rods were bent" and the engine needed to be replaced. The age (2016) and mileage (111K) of my Yukon Denali with no previous engine problems had me suspicious. Being over 200 miles away from home, I felt we were being taken advantage of. They offered me $10,000 for the vehicle, or $13,615 for a new engine. I had the vehicle towed home via AAA. A local mechanic immediately identified the problem as a broken valve spring and completed the repair for $1483 in 3 days. read more

As a retired former GM manager, I chose the closest Chevy dealer when my wife and I had engine problems while on a trip from Indiana to Mobile, AL. That happened to be Hendrick in Hoover, Alabama on Saturday, July 6. I left the car and told the service rep that I was going to rent a car and would very much like the car to be done by the next Saturday when we planned to return. He assured me that would be no problem. I was told the car would be diagnosed that day or Monday at the latest. I heard nothing Monday, so called Tuesday morning. I was told a part would be ordered and would be there the next day, Wednesday and the car would be done that day or by Thursday at the latest. No call Wednesday or Thursday, so I call Friday morning. The part was in but now, the car was not going to be ready until Monday, July 15. Needless to say I was very unhappy. I believe that I was lied to at least twice and was likely the victim of getting bumped from my place in the repair queue and taken advantage of. Having to wait until Monday cost me time and an extra $150 in car rental charges. We were lucky to be able to stay with a cousin, otherwise we would have incurred two extra nights of lodging expense as well. Customer service this poor is a terrible reflection on the GM and Chevy brands. Shame on you Hendrick! read more

My experience at Hendrick Chevrolet was as close to the cartoonish nightmare most people have about car dealers. A couple of days ago, I went there to look at a couple of used electric cars they had on their website. First time in a dealership in 18 years for me. I had printed out the year/make/model and ID number (2017 Chevy Bolt and a 2013 Nissan Leaf), so it should've been foolproof. The salesperson asked about my needs: I need an electric car, used, not a hybrid (gas/electric). I looked at the first car they brought around, then went for a test drive. During the drive, the salesperson let it slip that this was a 2019 Chevy Volt: a hybrid, not electric, and new, not used. Strike one. I looked at the second car they brought around, a Bolt. I went for a test drive. After that, I looked at the price sticker: close to $40,000. It was a 2019 Bolt, not the 2017 Bolt I requested. Strike two. I asked to see the two used cars I originally asked for, the ones the salesperson checked in the computer when I first arrived. He then admitted neither were available any more, that they had been traded to another dealer. Both used cars are still listed on the website today, of course. Strike three. If you want a new car, go to Hendrick. They will absolutely try to sell you one no matter what. If you want dishonest salespeople, go to Hendrick. And if you want to waste your time with a bait and switch, go to Hendrick. Sleazy, sleazy, sleazy. read more

Do not use the service department unless you want them to charge you instead of correctly handling warranty repairs. I own a 2021 Silverado with the 3.0 Duramax. The truck would pop up the check engine light with a check emissions error every 8-10k. The truck had 68,000 miles and I knew the 8 year 80k FEDERAL emissions warranty was going to run out. Went to the dealership and they performed a software update to resolve the issue and charged me for it. They claim the emission warranty was useless in Alabama because they do not emission test here, remember this coverage is a federal warranty. So at this point either GM is lying or Hendrick lying about the 8 year 80k coverage. At this point I will just stop purchasing GM vehicles and stop using Hendrick. Oh and the service department was even nice enough to print the TSB that even explains how to claim this repair under the emissions warranty. read more

Yesterday, Sunday, Scott Thomas emails me about the truck asking to help me and go from there. Well, I called the dealership this morning. They transferred Me to his cell phone, and he's was fumbling out of bed or something, and goes on to tell me that the truck was sold the day before he emailed me. Then why did he contact me? I own Heaven's Best Carpet Cleaning and I only purchase Chevy Vans for my business, so I was terribly disappointed by my treatment at Hendrick Chevrolet's Service Dept. I scheduled an appt for Sat morn March 12th to get my van looked at because the backup camera was not working, and it was unsafe for my technicians to drive. I informed my service advisor, Britney Rawls that I needed the van back at the end of the day. I told her that if they needed to order a part, we would bring it back once the part came in. Britney called me late on Sat and told me that it needed a new backup camera and they have them in stock, but they didn't get it installed on Sat. She promised she would have it done Mon morn and I could pick up the van in time to make all our afternoon appts on Mon. I informed her that I had to call our Mon morning appts and reschedule them and this was an inconvenience. She called me on Mon at 11am and said they just figured out that the new backup camera did not work, and she doesn't know what is wrong with it. She said they would try to fix it by the end of the day and did not even apologize for the inconvenience. In the meantime, I had to call all our afternoon appts and try to reschedule them. When it was getting late in the afternoon and she hadn't called back, I called the dealership multiple times, trying to reach her. They kept saying she is busy, and even tried to tell me she had the day off. Britney refused to take my calls or call me back. Finally, I got my wife and drove over to the dealership at 5:30pm to get the van. When I got there, she told us that they couldn't figure out what was wrong and that the guy who works on their electrical components is off every Mon, so we would need to bring it back on another day to get it fixed. They had repaired nothing on the van. She had no concern for the hassle she had caused us, and she even appeared to delight in our displeasure. We find it extremely disturbing that she knew that the person who needed to work on our van was off every Monday, but rather than informing us of this so we could have come get the van and keep our appointments, she kept our van all day knowing it was not going to be worked on. Unfortunately, we are a small business and cannot afford to lose customers and revenue. Bringing our van to Hendrick's Chevrolet ended up being a big waste of time, gas, and revenue for me, my wife, and my business. Hendrick's Chevrolet and Britney helped us to loss about $2000 in revenue, as well as customers. Unfortunately, in the carpet cleaning business if you can't clean for a customer on the day they want, they call another carpet cleaner. Britney had little to no concern for our van, our time, or our business. We will never go back to Hendrick's Chevrolet to purchase another van or to service any of our vans. You would think when you purchase all your vans from Chevrolet and you are a loyal customer like we are that you would receive better service. But, not at Hendrick's Chevrolet Service Dept in Hoover, and not with Britney Rawls as your service advisor. read more

The old bait and switch. A few weeks ago, I decided that I was going to trade my 2016 Equinox in for a newer one with more options. I searched online and found one online at Hendricks. After I arrived I was greeted by Leighton, who was extra nice. I explained that I had negative equity in my vehicle but wanted to see how they could help. Ironically, after searching for the vehicle so I could test drive it, it was being "serviced" due to a scratch on it. But he said he could get me in a brand new one. I was not interested in the color nor trim level of the Equinox he pulled around for me to test drive, and didn't want to drive it without us talking numbers. Two different finance managers came to talk with me while I was there, neither being friendly or concerned with gaining my business. The last one, without explaining anything, just simply came back and said "we really can't help you that much". I would have truly appreciated them showing me some options on paper to allow me to decide what route I wanted to take but they didn't do that. I have the income and would have went a little over my modest budget for the vehicle I wanted had they simply showed some interest in trying to work with me. Wasted a few hours here for nothing. I will stick with Edwards Chevrolet where they know how to treat customers (I've purchased from here before and have my service done here as well) and where they communicate with you and try to earn your business. Told him that I wanted to buy the truck and made an appointment for the purchase. Kelly called the night before to confirm the sales appointment and confirmed that the truck was still available. I traveled 40 mins, arrived early for my appointment, and was informed that they sold the truck 3 hours before I arrived. Salesman tried to show me other trucks that were nothing close to what I was there to buy. Common courtesy would have been to call and tell me they sold the truck they promised.
