Absolutely love this nail salon, I've lived in Tucson for 15 years and I have to say this the best one I've been to. Kathy and Sofia make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in, they take their time with you and do such an amazing job with your nails. We arrived at River nails on and off hours to have the place to ourselves. Cathy and her friend were very thorough and sweet. The shop is very clean there are two large television screens with subtitles and muted. There was a nice guitar music playing. I went I. On Saturday to have some nails removed due to another shop did a not so good job. The lady's were extremely friendly, and my nails look amazing. I have been to this salon many times since it is the closest to my house. Their prices are excellent, you can take in your own nail polishes and they always greet you as if you are important. The leg massage is fabulous! I recently went to a salon up the road for my birthday since I was getting my hair trimmed too, the mani and pedi was double the price of River nails and took twice as long! read more

I wanted somewhere close and quick to get my nails done, so I decided to pop into River Nails. Even though everyone was very, very nice and extremely pleasant to talk to, I won't be going back. Though the service was great, the quality of work on my fingers and toes was subpar -- and that's the reason I go to get a mani/pedi -- because I'm a terrible nail painter! I had bubbles, dents and more polish on my toes than on my toenails. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get anything fixed, but I certainly wouldn't waste my time again. I can pay just a little more and get a truly professional job somewhere else. read more

I was kind of skeptical to try this nail place out, but I was in the area and thought I would give it a try. When I walked in on a Monday afternoon, the place was empty, but immaculately clean. I asked the staff what the difference between a regular pedi ($22) and a quick pedi ($15), and decided on the regular because I had time. I sat down and began my pedicure. I was very impressed the entire time. All of the tools were clean, and they were very thorough with my feet. I left with a perfect pedicure, that is still perfect 3 days later! I asked to take them off because I didn't like the length and instead of doing that the other lady just gave attitude and started to argue with me on why I didn't tell her before she cut it. Very unprofessional. And to top it off she knew I didn't like it and forced me to pay before my service was done. Stay away from this place go to other salons like neat nails or concept nails. Went in for a refill as my previous spot started to get sloppy. Cindy helped me out and was so meticulous she did such an amazing job. She did exactly what I asked her to do and knew exactly what I was talking about. She did them straight not curled like the other place which was making them look like claws! Came in on Tuesday around 2:30 pm to get a full set of acrylics. It was my first time here and thought I'd try it out since it's very close to where I live. I walked right in, chose my color, and sat down with one of the ladys. She helped me find the exact colors for my nails from I photo I showed her since I was having trouble finding the perfect one. She perfectly shaped my nails which is very important to me since I love my acrylics square shaped! Would've gave 5 stars if they had a student discount like most other salons in Tucson! read more

I feel so lucky to have found this hidden gem on the NW side! Kathy is a wonderful woman with a kind heart and is incredibly talented. They do excellent dip manicures with very safe dip and gel removal. My nails have gotten stronger over the past few months I have been coming here. I refuse to go anywhere else! My mom and I went here today to get a little pre-spring pedi. The place was empty so we got right in. I will say everything seemed very clean which is a HUGE bonus. We were seated right away and the chairs were nice. We were offered a bottle of water as well which I thought was a thoughtful touch. The lady who did my pedi was very sweet. She did a good job, I just wish the massage would have lasted a little longer. My mom on the other hand did not have a great experience. The lady made her bleed on both feet and she had tears in her eyes from whatever it was she was doing. My mom even asked several times for her to not do that again. Each time she brought out another instrument my mom winced. For $22 it was a decent pedicure. Not sure I would go back. I would usually give this a 2 star review, but because my experience was pretty good and it was very clean I added a star. read more

I have had pedicures at River Nails for the last few years. I was always really happy until my last pedicure on Sept. 12. The staff didn't seem to know that I had an appointment. There were two people who did part of the pedicure-- a female and a male. I had to tell the female to trim my toenails although that should be part of the process and she cut one of my toes. I have been to this nail salon a few times over the past 3 mos. Their quality and service is slipping. This is too bad because I go here because it is so close to my work and easy for me to pop in on my way home. It is still clean, friendly service, etc. No complaints there. But the quality of service is not as good. They are not as thorough and services have been rushed and sloppy. One complaint is there is only one employee who does nails (other than manis) and this is a huge time suck. Another is that my last pedi was rushed and not up to par. The woman did not trim the cuticles as well, remove dead skin, pay attention to detail, or do a thorough job. She went very fast and cut corners. I got a full set, and a pedi. The man did the nails (which were fine/good except for some acrylic on the sides which he fixed later) and then she painted them. The polish job was sloppy. I had bare spots on the edges, lumps (old polish?) and overspill onto the sides and cuticles. She did not follow up with polish remover to clean them up - instead, as she painted, she ran her nail along the edges to remove it. Not quality. I happen to like nail art once in a while - not every time - but sometimes I splurge. There does not seem to be anyone who does nail art well. There are many designs you can choose from on the hand models/boards but they are not recreated well. I chose one design for my big toes and it looked nothing like what I picked out. On an earlier visit, I had a picture of a design on my phone and was told point blank they couldn't do it - it was not complicated or too fancy. ??? I have witnessed other customers being disappointed in the nail art feature as well. Overall, I think this place may be understaffed to meet demand and is struggling with consistent quality. They need another person who can do nails really well like the man does and they need to take their time/provide thorough service. read more

I was in Tucson for a wedding and needed a pedicure. My visit was a Saturday morning and there was no wait for my friend and me. I rated this place 5 stars....based on the cleanliness of the shop, the friendliness of the employees and the value for the services received. This may have been the best pedicure I have had; they spend alot of time and effort on the relaxing foot and lower leg massage.
