I recently moved to Oracle and hadn't had my nails filled since my last appointment in early December. After reading reviews and asking for recommendations in a local Facebook group, I chose a nail shop I thought would be a good fit. Unfortunately, after getting a fill and requesting ombré, the results were nowhere near what I asked for. Later that day, I stopped by a local hair salon and asked if they had any nail tech recommendations. They referred me to Tipsy Nails. When I got home, I looked them up and decided to call to see how much it would cost to fix my nails. The gentleman I spoke with told me to come in and said his wife would take care of me. When I arrived, I was greeted by Eva, and she immediately got to work. She took one look at my nails and explained that she would need to start completely over. She removed all of the acrylic that had just been put on--and I'm so glad she did. The new set she gave me is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't be happier with the results. I really wanted to like this salon since it is close to home... but I can't. I've been there twice, and both times the atmosphere was very LOUD. The technicians are not friendly to the customer. They seem quite happy to be in their own little world, engaging in conversations with each other in their own language- especially when they can SHOUT to each other from the front to the back of the salon. Literally. If you like a lively atmosphere then this could be the place for you. As for me, after a long day at work I want to relax in a peaceful place. This ain't it. Eva did my nails the first time I went, she did a nice job. Yet she took a phone call while doing my nails and talked for close to 5 minutes. It's just rude behavior. I want back a second time since Eva did a nice job, and I was willing to give it a second chance, but I didn't get her this time. I got Annie instead. She was rather grumpy. Maybe she was tired after a long day, I get that, but I also got the feeling she did not want to do any more nails. She yanked on my hands a couple of times. And her work was mediocre. I noticed the next day that the dip was uneven on the surface of a few of my nails. It was thick toward the nail bed, thinner in the middle of my nail and thick at the tips. So thick in fact that I had a hard time picking up things later on. Then one my nails cracked in the middle after I banged my finger on something. I think it cracked because the dip was so thin in the middle. It was a painful break. They charge a fee for credit cards too. It's cheap and tacky. I don't think it is the cleanest place, but "cleaner" than other salons that I have been to. I'm giving it 2 stars - only because Eva's work was good. read more

A business which caters to Oro Valley residents but boldly exhibits a sign announcing an extra charge for credit cards is foolish, for they surely will lose the same percentage in repeat clientele opportunities. This is my second time visiting this nail salon both times in which they were able to accept me as a walk-in. Eva took the time and attention to detail and we ended up with this beautiful marble design that matched her jade bracelet spot on. I wasn't for sure what I wanted and Eva surprised me with a masterpiece. Unprofessional and rude service. I don't know how this business establishment is still in business. Once you walk in, the overwhelming odor of chemical overtakes you and the entire staff has zero etiquette on customer service and very low quality in their work. The technician Lee almost cut off my finger while taking off my dip fingernail polish. She was so impatient and rough I was terrified the entire time. I endured because i had so many chips and had to have them removed.... Did not realize taking polish off was going to be so horrifying. I will never ever come back to this nail salon. He moved to tipsy nails not to long ago and ever since he has not listened to me what I have wanted.i have had him remove all my nails multiple time because I ask for square and he continues to keep doing coffin because it "suits me better"but that's not what I ask for. I have been driving 45 mins one way to this salon for a very long time. I am also not one to complain or knock down a business for having a bad day. We are human. I went in for a pedicure and full set. They didn't listen to me about having gelX on my toes and did a standard gel pedi. During the pedicure, they tech kept burning/cutting me with the file. Fast forward to my nails, I have red regular polish on my nails. The tech did not fully remove the polish, so red is still on the sides of nails under the acrylic. He only put primer on one hand for the acrylic to adhere to the nail. I had to remind him of that as well as the fact there was still red polish on my thumb that hadnt been removed. I asked for a cute design. I wanted French tips and daisys in color. Throughout my entire "manicure" the tech proceeded to rip on my arms and very roughly flip my hands. He stated: Stop, I don't play! when designing time came he threw an attitude and then proceeded to paint my entire nails. They look HORRID! My nails are crooked, uneven lengths etc. Extremely disappointed. read more

I've been going here for the last year and they gave done an ok job. However, I had a pedicure last night and it was a very miserable experience. My water was only lukewarm, barely any massage, and $52 later! The worst part is the lady who was doing my pedicure! She was so annoying because she talked in her language the entire time nonstop for over an hour and talked Betty fast and loud. I come to get a pedicure to relax and this was very annoying. I just sanded my pedicure to be over and get out. I left with a migraine and very irritated? They really should be a little more considerate of their clients! I won't be going back! read more

Staff was not that friendly, sanitation not that great, one nail tech wanted to start an argument after an immunocompromised person sitting next to me, who politely asked her to put a mask on. I was in the area and was in the need for pedicure before I go out of the town for bachelorette party. The staff was friendly and welcoming as I walked in. I picked out my polish and picked the pedicure set. It was going really well and as soon technician said he was done and I could stay until my nails are dry. As I was sitting in the chair, waiting for my nails to dry and paid for the service with 20% tip. Five minutes later, he rushed me out and tell me that I need to go. I haven't had the chance to test my nails to see if they're already dry and let alone put my shoes on. I was shocked at the rudeness that I experienced and the salon was not that busy. After receiving a pedicure here, I had developed a nasty infection in my toe from improperly sanitized tools by the very next afternoon. I've gotten pedicures at many salons almost monthly for years and I had fortunately never had this happen before this point. My toe is extremely painful and weeping puss. I paid a ridiculous amount of money just to leave with an infection. It's apparent that sanitation practices are questionable here at best and I absolutely would not recommend this place. In the meantime I will be hoping I don't develop athlete's foot as well (since there's no telling what else I could've been exposed to), as that's much harder to get rid of than bacteria. It's absolutely scary to think about what you can be exposed to at places like this that don't autoclave their equipment. read more

Unfortunately she is away on vacation and I had to see Mary. Before seeing Mary I asked if she did manicures similar to Kathy and was told YES. If I could give a negative star I would. The infection control and sanitation in this place is Abhorrent. The customer service is Non existent. The woman (Kathy) that did my nails cut me three times and my hands hurt so bad. My nails were an awful shape and I asked her to file them down "ok, I file and you pay more money" I left paying over $70 for a shitty job and my hands looking horrific! I love going here because they are great at walk ins and last minute appointments. Since I have been both, they were able to fit me in and I haven't once felt rushed! I have been going to Tipsy nails for two years. I have had other manicures (dip & pedicure) in 3 other Oro Valley salons in as much time. Hands down TIPSY NAILS DOES THE BEST work, I won't go anywhere else. Thank goodness I found them. My nails are perfect when I leave and last for at least 3 weeks at a time even though I knit , crochet, and type. I get compliments wherever I go, though compliments are the least of it. I make an appointment so my visit is scheduled and I don't add stress to a busy salon that really TAKES THE TIME to do BEAUTIFUL, TOP-NOTCH work. There are times they TAKE CUSTOMERS RIGHT AWAY, but sometimes I see customers walk in and expect technicians to be waiting for them and they get an attitude. I never understood this mentality because if you go to a restaurant you make a reservation so you know there is a place for you and that you get the best service and the staff is not rushed or stressed. It just makes for a better experience for everyone. Also, I give them kudos, because they deal with the public every day and I've seen many people be obnoxious and rude to them every time I'm in the shop. I don't think I could do it as well as they do. Thank goodness most people are nice. If you can't MAKE AN APPOINTMENT (even by calling 15 minutes ahead) you are welcome to wait but there is good shopping near buy, so you can do errands. Teamwork is a good thing :). The COLOR SELECTION is amazing and the staff can get VERY CREATIVE if you like art on your nails. The salon is clean and comfortable and the staff and clientele are friendly if you are into having a conversation.
