Great little place on the water. Always a band playing food is always good. Fish fry is excellent, big menu to pick from. Have to get there early if you want a seat inside. Not very big. Patio is cover and you can still hear the band. Parking is a little tight. read more

My boyfriend and I were riding bikes on the trail along the river and stopped at this place for dinner. Definitely overpriced for what you get, and there is hardly a view at all! Stuffed Peppers were very good, my fish fry was just ok, and shrimp scampi was swimming in grease and just not very good. Can't complain about the service though our server was very good. read more

My husband and I hav been coming here for years. One of our favorite summer time places t o come to. Look at menu before we went today. Should I have Chilean sea bass , lobster roll or lobster and shrimp encroute tonight??? Just don't know. However we got there and NONE of these on the menu anymore! So.... Disappointed! Rude staff at River Grill A group of 9 of us went to hear a great band on a Saturday in May. We were here for 5-6 hours. Our waitress was suppose to be Kim who was basically non existent. She did come to our table once or twice when we flagged her down to order food and drinks but after that we had to go to the bar and order if we wanted anything else. (Mind you, between the 9 of us we spent hundreds of dollars on the food and drinks here.) Another friend joined us about half way into our visit and he was hungry and thirsty. We tried to get our waitress who said we were someone elses table now. We flagged down 3 other waitresses after that who never came back to take our order or bring him a menu. Finally a VERY rude and argumentive Robin appeared. She began yelling at us instead of apologizing for her lame workers, she then told the other waitresses "don't wait on them"!!! And they didn't. She proceeded to come back to tell us we now had to move to another table because half of our party left and she needed this big table which never got used after we moved to our new DIRTY table which had leftover food and drinks on it. I have been to literally thousands of bars and restaurants in my lifetime and I have NEVER ever been treated this way. Shame on them!!!! read more

Had lunch at River Grill with a group of 24. Service was very good.After we were seated our drink orders were immediately taken and food orders after the group had time to review menu. Food arrived about 30 minutes later. Considering how many of us were there this was certainly acceptable. Our server Sebastian checked with us often to see if we needed anything. Our group was pleased with food. I had crab cake Po boy that was great. Will definitely return. Only negative would be parking. This was a retiree group and a few had to skip lunch due to lack of spaces available close by. read more

River Grill is my top choice of restaurants during the summer. Went to dinner Saturday night and as usual the food was on point. I had crab legs and they were great. The atmosphere is always very nice although sometimes the bands can be a tad loud but the wait staff is always very busy but makes sure to be attentive to each table. read more

April 29, 2016- ordered four appetizers, received three. The one they forgot was on the bill and was removed when we noticed the error. The stuffed peppers were awful! Filling was finely ground up meat of some kind, supposedly sausage although you couldn't tell by me. Maybe some cheese added, but they were awful. Artichoke dip was bad as well, no flavor, obviously made by some corporation. The third appetizer was the coconut shrimp which was pretty gross as well. Coconut was sprinkled over deep fried shrimp and served with some sickeningly sweet sauce. The martinis we ordered came in martini glasses that were not even filled remotely to the top, and when we ordered a second round and asked for full glasses got the same partially filled glass. Maybe the seafood is good, but I won't get apps there again. read more

Less then 5 minutes after we paid the bill we were asked to leave. We were told they had a table of 5 that had been waiting 15 minutes. I felt this was very rude. It wasn't like we had been sitting there 1/2 hour after we were done. I was embarrassed in front of the other customers. Fish tacos & fries are delicious. Would've gotten more stars had they not been pushing us out the door. I've been there when it's way busier & have never been treated like that. read more

The only thing worse than the food here is the service. Sooooo slow. Badly mismanaged. Drinks served in cheap plastic cups. If its the view you're here for there are plenty of other waterfront restaurants to support. Parking is also an issue here even on a quiet Monday night with no music. Don't know how this place stays in business. While we were there a table of 4 got up and left after waiting nearly 20 minutes for menus and drink order. They said they were heading to the Shores. This place is Awesome! We always stop in while out boating on the river, There are always open slips for river grill customers. It's a great crowd, The drinks are cold, the food is great and the service is very good. This place is always very busy. It's hard to believe anyone could go to the waterfront on a sunny afternoon and complain about the parking or the wait! Don't listen to the negative reviews , I've been here a hundred times and always have a good time, fancy...no, Fun? YES!! My whole family goes often and everyone loves it ages 10-82. Anyone who complains about the view didn't bother to walk to the right past the outside bathrooms (Very nice and clean) and see the amazing river view with strawberry island right out front. Adirondack chairs on the dock, Live music 7 days a week, Wow! Doesn't get any better on the Buffalo waterfront. Hop in the boat and get over there! Summers almost over! read more

Patty is the worst hostess ive ever had to deal with. We called before a group of 7 arrived and they did not take reservations so we hung out and waited buying conitinuous rounds of shots and drinks. We checked in a few times on the status of our table..the waitress even went to the table we were waiting for to tell the group to wrap it up because people were waiting for them to finish up...we continued to wait and watched a family take the table we were waiting for..we approached patty and she said we would have to wait for the next table because "people make mistakes" and did not offer us anything after waiting over an hr and a half when the wait was supposedly only "20 mins" per patty...i would never recommend this restaurant to anyone..young groups were completely discriminated against..if you are a couple or group over the age of 50..expect great customer service but when i acknowledged the fact that i do..patty had nothing to say..very disappointing because i live on vulcan and it is at the end of my street..i enjoy seafood and planned on coming for dinner with friends and family multiple times this summer..but unfortunately the service here only favors a certain age group and patty has no respect for a young crowd which makes me believe the management here agrees with this. Very upset with this visit because ive enjoyed every other time ive visited. I would give this place a zero star but yelp wont let me. read more

went a couple of weeks ago with a friend. had a wonderful dinner and the band was great. went back and had lunch on the patio and the special was excellent and the service couldn't be better. i will bring out-of-town guests next season. too bad the season is so short. this is a great place and can see why you have to park a distance away and walk because it was packed when we were there. what fun !!! read more

So here is the deal. I went here with some friends for lunch. They have a great covered patio and it is right on the waterfront. There are not a lot of gluten free choices. I got the steamer pot (can't remember what it is actually called on the menu). It had crab legs, shrimp, clams, and oysters in a wine and butter sauce. I shared it with my sister. It was plenty for two. It was really good. I also had the shrimp cocktail as an hors d'oeurve. It was good too. I seem to be disappointed in shrimp cocktails more often than not. I always feel like there should be more. It is more of a compliment than not. Anyway the prices were great and the patio is nice. My friend did have the burger and she said there was a lot of filler in it. She said that she did not want a vegetarian burger but felt that was what she got because it was very grainy. She is very picky though. I did not taste it so I can not comment further. I will go back if just for the patio. It reminds me of a place I ate at in Florida. Also they have live music on the weekends if you are into that. read more

We went to the River Grill on Sunday to see the Informers. We have gone before and always sat inside to listen to the band. This time it was full, but it was an hour before the band started so we sat outside. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted to. We chose a table at the mostly empty deck tables. Patty, our server, came up and we ordered a drink. She asked if we wanted to order food, we said eventually we would. It was a beautiful day, we thought it would be great to relax and enjoy a drink in the beautiful weather. No she came up again, so we ordered an appetizer, coconut shrimp...it was terrible. We ordered another drink, she asked if we wanted to order food. I said eventually, but we wanted to enjoy our drinks. She walked around to the outside of the deck and leaned in and told us if we didn't order food we couldn't stay there because they had a huge waiting list of people who wanted a table. Are you kidding, we had ordered 2 drinks each and a lousy appetizer, what did she want? Meanwhile the band had started so we decided to order our food. She brought it and asked if that was all we wanted. Seriously... we wanted to be left alone to enjoy our food and drinks. She kept coming back to our table and asking if we wanted anything else...we just wanted to relax and enjoy our food. She came and scooped up our plates when we were hardly done eating and said did we want our check. No we wanted another drink and to listen to the band. She again walked behind the rope at the edge of the patio and told me we could sit at the table for one set and then we had to leave because they had a huge list of people waiting for a table. NOW...am I wrong, we drank and ate and felt we were being rushed through the entire meal. All we wanted to do was relax and enjoy a drink, meal and good music. It turns out Patty is the owner's wife. So who do we complain to? She got no tip and I have never done that before, but she was rude and terrible. A lousy way to run a business Patty. Never again and I am spreading the word. read more
