I guess I slept on this gem. The food was absolutely delicious. The 534 Elmwood brisket sandwich was out of this world. The brisket melted in my mouth. It was all topped with heaps of jalapeño slaw, cheddar cheese, and some amazing tangy BBQ! We had it delivered, and the fish fry came hot and crispy! Large portion paired with perfectly cooked French fries salted to perfection. It came with macaroni salad, which wasn't my favorite, but it's a mustard base, and I'm not a fan of mustard. The steak was seasoned and so tender! Definitely can't wait to go back and try more!

Joe's is great lots of good menu items lots of things to try and all of it is very tasty! I love the casual style of the place order sit eat and go and it's very comfortable inside. Pricing was good as well. I really loved the potato salad incidentally it was delish with an awesome peppery goodness! We always love Joe's make sure you stop in and visit!

Joes still has the best chicken salad sandwiches or wraps in the town. Hands down! I'm sad they closed the maple location but I will gladly go here when I need one.

Worst sandwich ever. I ordered sliced turkey with apple and melted brie cheese on sourdough bread. I got dried up crumbles of turkey scraps that belonged in the trash, no cheese, 2 tiny apple slices and a bag containing 5 potato chips. I live too far away to return it to Hertel Ave. I'm in Lockport. I won't be back.

Tuna melt, not grilled. Soooo good

Conveniently located very close to the FLW Martin house near Delaware Park. Right on Hertel Ave. There's plenty to choose from. The Tuna Sandwich is some of the best I've ever had. The cuban is completely out of this world. Delicious. Very clean, bright, pedestrian oriented and lots of parking. Thry feature outdoor seating in the warm weather. We were served quickly. Prices are around 11 bucks for a sandwich. On my next return to Buffalo, I'll be back.

Kind of lacking in avocado

The service is great, even if we were a little let down by the food. They have kids meals that are a good value at $5.50 for an entree and choice of two sides (or a drink and a side or two drinks.) My son ordered chicken nuggets. They are definitely made with the child nugget connoisseur in mind - if that child favors McDonald's nuggets, and of course I came in with the one child who doesn't. Plus you could tell it was fried in the same oil as the fish which didn't bother me, but did bother him. The actual chicken was very juicy and better quality than McDonald's. The batter just appears similar. I had a sweet turkey sandwich sans sweet potato fries by request. Part of why I've been wanting to try Joe's Deli is because they make some sandwiches with avocado. Sadly, mine seemed almost as low on the coveted avocado as the sweet potato fries. It came with homemade potato chips, of which my finicky son was a fan. The deli is cute with some indoor seating as well as outdoor. I wish there was a little more shade in front. To be honest, I'd probably try the fish fry if I stop in again. If the batter is similar to the chicken, I bet it's amazing.

Joes is a nice local deli in a cute neighborhood (Hertel area). The hangover sandwich was delicious, highly recommend!

Chicken salad on sour dough

Wanted to try something different so I ordered from this deli. Did a build your own special. Chicken salad with franks on sour dough. Added cheddar, lettuce, cukes, and sprouts. Bottles of pop were severely over priced but I was excited to get a can of loganberry. Chicken salad was great. Not too much Mayo. Good sized chunks of chicken. Fresh produce. I'm a sucker for a toasted piece of sour dough. Finished the meal with a side of Greek pasta salad. Great chunks of veggies, feta and bow tie pasta. Will definitely order again.

It was nice and big in there. I like the way that there was room to move. It's not real small like most bars I end up going to. The bartender was OK, it was very, very crowded, so they were low on seats. Like I said, I wasn't there very long. I didn't spend a lot of time there so I don't really know much about the place. I didn't even so much just use the restroom there so I don't know about those. I don't know if they have food or not. I just like the fact that it's spacious.

We ordered the NYC chopped cheese and the Caesar sandwich, and both were packed with great flavor. The rolls were awesome, and the French fries and onion rings were the perfect finishing touch. The staff was very friendly and always nearby (which came in handy when we needed extra napkins, lol). The dining room is on the smaller side, so I can see there being a bit of a wait during the dinner rush. Parking is street parking on a busy strip, but trust me--it's all well worth it.

We had been to their location in Sanborn years ago and loved it. Ordered a Gustavo ,Ybor,Mexican Street corn Mac & cheese and two Alfajores. Everything was great and of the two sandwiches. The Gustavo was too spicy that it overwhelmed the other flavors in the sandwich. The bread was a winner. The Ybor was very good. The MSCM&C was also to spicy and hid the flavors. You place your order at the counter and your order takes about 15 minutes. You can order ahead. The ambiance is plain Jane and very sterile but clean. . The music was way too loud.

The other reviews here pretty much say it all, so my main reason for adding anything is to comment on their use of metal trays instead of plates, a growing custom it seems, and fine by me. But.... We said, when asked, that we were dining in. The 420 Fries came boxed on the parchment lined tray. I'd suggest when the customer is eating in that they save the box and assemble meals that come in a box for take-out directly onto the tray. It would make for a much more attractive dining experience. The fries: small potato wedges. The 420: if poutine and nachos got married and had a baby, they'd name it 420. They were very good. A health-conscious note: menu suggestion for those watching carbs says anything that comes on bread can be served on saffron rice or on power grains, or on a large flour tortilla, or on salad greens. And for the vegetarian folks, garlic-roasted mushrooms can be substituted for meat on any sandwich. Check out their menu at tortugasandwich.com I'll be back. Next up for me-- the Vicuna on salad greens.

It's a decent sized market with all the usual staples. What really sets it apart for me is the upstairs space. I've hosted a couple of events here, and there's always been plenty of room and seating. It's never felt too loud, which is nice. I like that people can use the space however they want. When I go with friends, some order from the cafe, some grab baked goods, others just pick up a quick salad or something simple. It makes it easy for everyone to join in at whatever price point they can. Parking is usually good, though I've run into a couple times when the lot was full. Still, I'm glad they have a parking lot. Living in Buffalo several years now, I've never been out to Hertel Ave to grab food and drinks -…read moreSurprising, I know! Thanks to a Yelp Elite event on Hertel Ave., I FINALLY changed that with a fantastic late dinner at The Burning Buffalo Bar & Grill. One of the main reasons I don't like to go out in Buffalo is parking - I'm always anxious about finding a spot that's close to where I'm going, as well as not having to pay for it. It was 7:45pm on a Tuesday, so street parking was free so one obstacle down, and amazingly, I managed to park right in front of The Burning Buffalo Bar & Grill, but across the street - I'll take it! Upon walking inside, there were a few tables outside full of people having dinner and drinks with one waitress managing all of it. I walked in and was surprised how big, spacious it was. First order of business though was hitting the restroom, which was on the small side, but clean. After that, I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was a young, pretty woman who was very personable. Unsure of what to grab for a drink, she asked what beers I usually go for and with that, she was fired off a few beers on draught I might like. I settled on the Jack's Abby Post Shift Pilsner and enjoyed sipping on that the rest of the night. She handed me the food menu and took care of a few other customers while I figured out what I wanted. I got it down to two items and I asked her for her recommendation, which was excellent and how I'd order, if and when I make it back. But similar to what other reviews on Yelp say, the atmosphere was very much like a neighborhood bar and grill, where everyone knows each other and if they don't know you, they're still more than willing to let you hop in and out of the conversation. I felt very comfortable sitting and listening to the "regulars" chat, watching a baseball game on the TVs behind the bar. So for dinner, I decided on ordering their Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich which is topped with lettuce, tomato, sriracha mayo, and cheddar cheese, with pickles underneath between a soft, brioche bun with a side of hand cut fries and a pickle spear on the side. The bartender recommended swapping out the cheddar cheese with pepperjack cheese, an awesome swap! The size of the fried chicken breast was HUGE by itself! I was so impressed how the well the sandwich held together as I devoured it. The chicken was hot, not greasy at all. The lettuce and tomato tasted fresh and looked crisp, there was plenty of that pepperjack cheese on top the chicken and pickles underneath. The sriracha mayo was excellent, albeit I would've liked more of it, I think more would've made the sandwich messy and hard to handle, so it really was the right amount on there. The hand cut fries were great as well; Crispier on the ends and softer in the center but plenty hot and not over seasoned. If you've seen other reviews of mine, you'll get the sense I have a pretty big appetite so I was able to demolish the sandwich but I couldn't finish all my fries, so that should be enough to tell you the portions here are HUGE and AWESOME! At first glance, the prices look expensive but I think they're justified as the quality and portions are phenomenal, I certainly felt I got my money's worth. I'm so happy that after several years of living in Buffalo, I made it over to Hertel Ave. finally! I'm also glad I chose The Burning Buffalo Bar and Grill for dinner. The quality and quantity of food, the friendly neighborhood atmosphere, the personable staff, what more can you ask for? I can't wait to come back and grab another Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich or maybe give their North Buffalo Cheesesteak a try!
