Stopped in for breakfast on an early Sunday morning and weren't many cars there. Upon walking in we were greeted by the friendly staff. The booth table was smaller than the seats themselves. I other than that seemed to be pretty nice inside but wasn't nothing too special. Although we aren't there for looks we are there for breakfast. After looking at the menu the prices appear to be pretty fair. I ordered the meat omelette, hash browns w/ cheese peppers and onions, rye toast. My wife got the eggs, French toast and bacon. My dad got the 8oz ribeye with 3 eggs, hashbrowns and rye toast. The portions were a nice size and the rye toast was thick cut. Surprisingly each meal was around $11. Although once I got the bill I noticed they did hit pretty hard on the cheese peppers and onions. Overall it wasn't a bad breakfast. Nice portions and fair price. I just wouldn't add the extras for the hash browns unless you want to pay an extra $4.50. read more

POSITIVES: Clean, casual diner. Food, for the most part, was well prepared. Ingredients were fresh. Portions were filling. Pricing is good to reasonable. NEGATIVES: Undercooked bacon in the club. (Cook very apologetic and offered to remake the entire club, offered a discount, and offered a nice coupon for a return visit). Unfortunately, the flavors were just good. Nothing said, "Wow!" to me. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Pleased. Would try again. read more

Great Shwarma sandwich and grilled veggies delivered to me while having an electric car charge at GM Charging station at the Pilot on Alexis/Exit 210. Quick delivery, hot and delicious! read more

The most disgusting and unprofessional restaurant toledo has to offer! If you want to enjoy bugs crawling across the tables, beard hair (I hope) in the food and want to be treated like absolute shit by the manager & staff this is the restaurant for you. The eggs & bacon are microwaved and the manger will threaten you if you ask for them to fix your meal. They also are way overpriced and the majority of their 5 star reviews are from the owner... and it's still 2.6 stars haha This place is an absolute joke, save yourself the time and money read more

ordered the shwarma wrap. they did not put the garlic sauce on it! thats like the whole point of it. every time we go there, something is wrong. when I phoned to tell them about the sauce, I was told so sorry...we do have some new cooks. well train your cooks!! read more

What a terrible place... I spent $12.00 for 2 eggs, hash browns and coffee. Apparently they have a $2 upcharge if you sub hash browns for home fries (and no, they don't tell you this when you order and no, you don't get the home fries with your 1/2 cup of grey, previously frozen hash browns). I asked for them to be crispy and they weren't. My egg yolks were broken/overcooked and the coffee was as weak as hot water. If you're in the Point and looking for a place to eat breakfast, go anywhere else. You'll be much happier. read more

Found this place on Yelp when me and my fiance were out of town for a getaway weekend. This was one of the few places open, with LOTS on the menu. We decided to order for pickup since it was just down the street. Prices were decent, portions were HUGE and food was decent! Food wasn't amazing but it was some good diner food for sure! I really liked the gyro meat and veggies I got!!! I would DEF get that again, just needed some hummus and gyro type tahini/taziki sauce stuff. The place itself is actually REALLY cute! Know now that it's a cute little diner I definitely wouldn't mind stopping in and dining in! I would rate this more at the top of diner ambiance that I've ever encountered, especially for the priceand portion size. Good little spot! read more

The food was ok but my friend's eggs were not cooked correctly. ALSO, we ordered eggs they came with home fries. We asked for hash browns. When we received our bills, we were charged $2.00 more for the hashbrowns Our bills which should have been $7.00 were $9.00 There was no explanation at the time that we would be charged $2.00 extra. Never going back to this place. read more

River Diner - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

It's been a very long since I've left a review of any restaurant. I hate to leave a negative review as restaurants were hit pretty hard throughout COVID, but people need to be warned about this place. Just don't go. The first impression was the boarded up front door that has half a sheet of plywood covering the broken glass on the lower half. That should have been enough for me to turn around and leave, but I was in the middle of a diabetic low and really, really needed to eat. Quickly. We had gone to two other restaurants prior to River Diner only to find they were not open until later in the day. As my sugar dropped, it became, "The next place we find, we HAVE to stop there!" River Diner was it. It was just after noon when we arrived. There seemed to be a change of shift, as the first server to come to our table was not the same person who served us. Our server was kind and pleasant but we waited a very long time for her to come to our table to take our order. Close to 15 minutes. Enough time to watch the annoying informercial on the two TV screens that one cannot avoid in this place. I ordered a seafood combo that was supposed to come with two cod fillets, two perch and two jumbo shrimp. What arrived at my table was one fillet of cod, one fillet of perch and about 20 deep fried salad shrimp. It was a lump of greasy, over-cooked, flavorless crap. I'm 100% sincere when I tell you there was ZERO flavor in everything on that plate except for the inordinate amount of salt they put on the fish. A pool of old oil came to the surface every time I cut a piece of fish. The tartar sauce that accompanied my meal was gross. It had no relish in it and appeared to be really old, yellow mayonnaise. My server even warned me about the tartar sauce as she brought it to my table. I ate the fish because I had to get something in my system to fight the low blood sugar. I regretted that about an hour later. Being near the water, I had hoped for good quality fish. The fish I was served was frozen, fried to the point of no return, flavorless, garbage. Our server took $10 off my meal, which was greatly appreciated. I tipped her $10 on a $19 bill because none of this was her fault. The River Diner would do themselves a favor if they found a cook that could actually tell when something is over-cooked, and knew when to change out the deep fryer oil. Never again. read more

Never again! They served me a Greek salad with rancid, I mean rancid olives that I put in my mouth! I spit it out but it was clear no one cared. The server said she would take it off my bill but no manager cane out. It seemed like the owner was there cooking. He had nothing to say. How the bell can you serve that? I thought I was smelling something bad from the restroom. And that's not all. My husband's burger was so waterlogged, we knew they must have run water over a frozen burger. It wasn't thawed. Do not eat here unless you're looking to get ill. And since I'm not the only petson leaving a food born illness review, they need to be inspected. For the first time ever, I'm calling the health department on a restaurant. if you're reading this River Diner owner, clean up your damn act you cheap filthy slob. You're unfit to run a restaurant if you cannot practice food safety and cleanliness. read more

Went yesterday for dinner, waited 40 minutes to eat and when it came the fried Kibbe was burnt to a crisp and my gyro meat was burnt to a crisp. When we told the waitress she didn't even bother to go back and tell the kitchen staff she just said she was sorry and walked away from our table. We ate it because we are starving having waited 40 minutes. Last month we were in there and had the perch and it was fried to a crisp and had to be redone. Not sure if they switched owners but this place is horrible now read more

I forgot the name, but there is this glorious, cheesy skillet packed with everything that's delicious about breakfast--including sausage gravy. Umm, and it's fan-tastic! Everything else was so-so at this little Point Place spot. Pretty standard diner food, except for the entire second menu full of mediterranean noms. After mowing down my veggie omelet, I looked over at our neighbor's table and saw the gyro. It looked divine. My omelet was decent, but it was Jason's skillet thing-y that really stole the show. I'm almost certain he was 2 seconds away from stabbing my arm with a fork because I kept stealing fork-fulls. It would have been worth it, though. The orange juice and coffee were both pretty terrible. I'm never really one to complain about that sort of stuff, but I couldn't even finish one cup of coffee. Ick. The bf compared the OJ to Tang, if that's any indication on how he felt about it. Other than that, there wasn't too much to complain about. Fast, good service. Coffee rounds (even though it tasted horrible) were made about ever 5 minutes so you never went without. And it's really the only diner in the immediate area. If I ever visited the area again, I'd probably stop by again to try the lunch or get that glorious skillet. read more

River Diner - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

This is a nice little neighborhood restaurant. I like it for breakfast or lunch and it's consistent with the quality .

Called ordered my food they said 20 minutes went there Service was outstanding The food was outstanding I highly suggest River Diner

River Diver used to be decent but, good lord, I guess they've gone down hill. I walked in to pick up my take out order and the blonde girl at the register rolls her eyes like she was annoyed about it. I got my food anyway and took it home. The food was absolutely terrible, fried fish over seasoned and too salty to the point that it was inedible and coleslaw that smelled and tasted like it was spoiled. If that wasn't enough they got parts of my order wrong toNever returning. read more

River Diner - Seafood Combo - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

We were on our way to downtown Toledo and decided to give this place a try. It was easy enough to find in the end of a strip mall. We walked in and were confused. Do we seat ourselves? Do we wait to be seated? After a few seconds the girl at the register tells us to have a seat wherever. We shift over to the dining area and do not see any tables for two empty and clean. So we continue to stand and wait. A waitress finally walks by (the only one who looks to be working in a Sunday morning) and tells us she will be right with us. She clearly understood there wasn't a place for us to sit. So we waited. The cashier finally finishes cashing people out and with a snarky tone says "I said go ahead and have a seat anywhere". I mention that there is no place to sit and she responds with "there are e chairs right there" as she points to a table with 4 chairs that has someone sitting at it. I am sorry, I wasn't going to share my breakfast dining experience with another group. We left and went up the road to another place. First impressions are key. The one and only impression we received here was that they were disorganized and didn't care about my business. I will not be giving them a second chance. read more

Food was okay. One of the other reviews raved about the skillet, so I got it. It was not real hot and nothing special...maybe a small step up from Denny's. The service was good and it was quick. My son had the chocolate chip pancakes which is said we're good. I saw others eating omelets that looked giant; wish I'd ordered that. Two things though. The table cloths were encrusted with old dried food. The table top had plastic over the cloth and was clean but the table cloths really, really need washed. The other was the coffee. I'll never understand why a diner would serve awful Gordon's Food Service 1.5 oz scrap. I'm not asking for Starbucks but something more than hot smelly water would be nice. read more

I don't know what this place only has 3.5 stars. We stopped in for breakfast since no other place was open before 8am and I hate fast food. The other reviews are correct; it is small and outdated but it's a diner. And as far as diner food goes, it's pretty amazing. We both had the all meat skillet. It was pretty perfect. Great balance of meats, fluffy eggs and spectacular sausage gravy. The biscuits are delicious and well buttered. My coffee was fresh and the iced tea was on par with Starbucks. The service was excellent. Not dirt cheap for the meal but well worth the price. I will definitely stop in next time I'm in the area. read more

Waited over 45 minutes to get our meal, with 1 waitress who looked overwhelmed trying to juggle 2 tables that includes us and take out orders. I honestly felt bad for her. The food was okay nothing to really rant or rave about. read more

Do not order carry out here. They will fit your order in when have time. They will quote you half an hour for your order and when you show up to pick it up, they haven't even started cooking it. Waited an additional half an hour in the lobby with a waitress pitching her bad attitude my way because I wanted to spend $80 at her place of employment. Her excuse for the wait... breakfast rush at 10:30 am. The dinner had 3 tables. 8 total people eating. If you can't handle a "rush" of three tables and 2 carryout orders at a diner, perhaps you need to rethink your business plan. read more

Great food. Good prices. Huge portions. I'm picky about gyros and I really enjoyed this one.

To start the staff was super pleasing and very helpful and nice. The order process was very simple and quick. it's good, the staff was really friendly and the food was delicious. The owner was especially welcoming and made us feel at home.

I absolutely love this place, they have the friendliest staff and the best food. I am always making special trips just to go there!

Never again! Got a take out order for me and the wife which she picked up. When we got ready to eat only half the order was there on both dinners. I called River Diner and was told they would call right back. She said she had other customers to take care of first. NOT! I never got a call back that evening. I called the next morning and was told by Jason they were sorry and we will be credited with a replacement meal which we agreed on the following Friday. When we got there the owner said no I'll give you a $3.00 credit. Liars! Sounds like they need customer service classes. I told the owner we would never eat there again and he said ok good. read more

The food used to be good years ago. Not so much anymore. The past 3 times I placed orders for takeout, I found gross black hairs in my food when I got home. After the 3rd time, I quit. I really liked their food up until the last year or so. Sad. read more

Went there on a Sunday night. Service was quite attentive and overall experience was very good. It's a nice mixture of American and Middle Eastern food. Very reasonably priced. $20 for both of us to eat including tip. On the American side, my son got the Monster BLT made with 1lb of bacon. The bacon was nice and crispy with a good flavor and hearty feel. Fries were fresh and crisp. Only complaint was the type of ketchup they provide. It was an off-brand and was a little too sweet. I got the fattoush salad that was amazing. The beef shawarma sandwich was a bit of a disappointment. They used standard roast beef in the sandwich instead of true shawarma beef. Overall great place! Only knocked down a star because of the couple complaints I listed. Would recomend!!!! read more

Food was horrible. I've had the veggie omelet and the chicken. Chicken omelet had the nastiest seasoning and it came with so much juice at the bottom. The potatoes sucked, didn't look or taste cooked fully. Veggie omelet was wack. Even the toast is bad. Their food is not made with care. I've gave the benefit of the doubt twice after trying the first time. read more

The grape leaves were good and I should've just stuck with them. I ordered the chicken kabobs and 2-3 of them were undercooked and really pink in the middle. I also ordered the baklava for dessert in hopes that it would turn around my experience, but it was dry and too flaky. I was exhausted and didn't feel like bringing any of this to the waitress's attention, who was new and bring trained, so I just paid and left. Other than that, it is just a small diner with diner food. Eat elsewhere. read more

Food was amazing, service was off. The food... Hummus platter with chicken, falafel & gyro was outstanding. The turkey club was good too but their Greek food is on point. They offered us a free dessert due to the wait, so we enjoyed a piece of cheese cake that was yummo!! The service... waitress kept on apologizing for how long the food was taking, she was nice, seemed to want to fix the situation which I appreciated. They had a full dinning room when we got there and it appeared to be more than they could handle. Food was really delicious!! read more

Positively sure my wife and I both had gastric blowouts due to this food. Service was fine. I will not be going back.

Based on the reviews by other patrons, I was excited to stop here on a trip through Toledo. The actual experience, however, was ... Well, words kind of escape me right now. I'll just relate some details of the meal, and let you choose your own descriptive words. The two waitresses were friendly enough, but one had only been working there three days, and was quick to mention that, again and again and again ... We ordered some appetizers, and three meals. The food came out in shifts, with a basket of onion rings appearing first, and then one person's meal (albeit incorrectly prepared), and then drubs and drabs until the entire meal was present. So we dig in ... And the falafels are clearly a boxed mix AND raw in the middle. The chili mac was a heaping portion, but the chili had a rancid taste. The sweet potato fries looked good, but had been fried together into one big clump. Of the three people, only one was remotely satisfied with their meal ... A bacon cheeseburger and hot chocolate. Then, on top of the food mishaps, there was a squadron of flies who continually came around ... Until one person at the table killed them. And as the proverbial cherry on top, when the waitress came to ask if we were ready for the check, and there were three mostly full plates still on the table, she didn't mention that detail and presented the check with a "Bam!" ala Emril Legasse. Avoid this place at all costs ... Gas station tacos would be a better choice! read more

This is our first and will be our only visit. I wasn't sure if we should seat ourselves or wait but a "regular" customer told me to "pop a squat". The air conditioning was stuck on ridiculously cold. Dirty tables, so there was limited places to sit. The place is kind of junky looking from the outside and not much better inside. TV channel on kids programs with the volume so loud you couldn't hear the person talking across from you. Extremely slow service, people that came in after us received their meals first. Generous portions, meals were hot when we finally got them. Taste was ok. Several servers seem to be working, maybe they need to hire more cooking staff! With so many other places in the area to eat, I would take my business elsewhere. read more

Small and a little outdated. The service was great and the food is just like any other typical diner.

This place is disgusting. I came here with my family for Mother's Day. Their food is way over priced for the crappy quality and service. My cup was dirty and it took 10 minutes for them to replace it. It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive and halfway through eating my chicken chunks I discovered a feather IN my chicken. This place needs to clean their tables and floors, hire more waiters/waitresses, and cook their food correctly. I do not recommend coming here. read more
