We visited here on a busy Saturday evening. We were really looking forward to trying it as we love to see new businesses come into the area! Unfortunately, we left with a sour taste in our mouth. Our waitress was really great when she was at our table, but that's only IF we saw her. It took me a while to get my bar drink, and when she finally brought it over it was more of a drive-by "sorry this took so long" and she was gone again. My husband got the Cheesesteak and I got the Smashburger Sliders. His cheesesteak was very good, and he said the spicy sauce they used was a great way to add something to the sandwich. My sliders were disappointing, though. The burger patty itself was the equivalent of a premade child's size burger. It didn't have the crunchies on the side like a smashburger should have. Our biggest thing was that we felt they hid the credit card surcharge fee. It wasn't on our original bill, so when we got our credit card slip there as a $1.50 difference. We called over a manager (because we couldn't find our server) and he nonchalantly told us why there was a difference said "oh yea I can take that off if you want." It just felt so...off? My husband couldn't get over the fact that it was only listed once in the menu and how were we supposed to remember that an hour later. And lastly a band was setting up and was so awfully loud during sound check that we ended up getting out as fast as possible. We might try it again in the future, but the chances are slim. read more

First Off, Nico did a Great Job! As far as the food ... Not memorable, to say the least. We used to come here when it was Walnut Grill it was very spotty then. I would say now, its a little bit above bar food, a very little bit (maybe). We had the "Chicken" Nachos. We've been trying to do the vegan thing, but decided to splurge and have the Chicken on the Nachos. Apparently, we stayed on our vegan diet... almost no chicken. We had the Margherita Pizza. Was really hoping for more from a this local chain sports bar but it just didn't deliver. Service was kind and friendly but the food took what seemed like forever to come out. For a relatively slow Sunday afternoon, we waiting a good 30-40 minutes just for the appetizers and then roughly the same for the main courses. Food wasn't anything special, food you would get at BWW or another chain spot. Wings were OK, not a ton of flavor or spice but they had a decent amount of meat on them. In the former Walnut Grove site, a new sports themed restaurant has taken its place. We started with French onion soup. It was piping hot, lots of onions, and unusual choice of spices. Would order again. We both ordered entree salads: Jerk Shrimp & Argula Salmon. Large portions. Would order again. We wanted to share dessert. When this place opened we were excited for an alternative to some of the usual places, plus it's set up decently for watching a game every now and then. The first time we went was fine, although the music was loud as hell. Like club level loud on a relatively dead Tuesday evening. Whatever. Food wasn't too bad and prices were reasonable. Second time, food left a little to be desired, floors were sticky, but hey, it's 2025. What can you expect? Well, the third time, the fact that it's 2025 landed on our plates and I don't think we'll be back. Not for anything other than beers maybe. This time I ordered the Cheesesteak sliders. Now, I get that they're sliders. But this is an adult meal. When my plate arrived, it was about the same amount of food my kids got with their kids meal. I just shook my head and ate it. I wasn't going to raise a stink, but seriously - look at this sad display. Each was about 3 bites. Conevniently, the owners posted a picture - THEIR picture - of how they envision these things to be. I made an expectations vs. reality to show how pathetic this was. The pictures don't even do it justice. Yes - sliders are by definition smaller than a typical sandwich. But I can't stress enough how weak this was. Come on guys. I'll pay a couple extra bucks for an actual meal. We had a nice Thursday evening meal here; about 7pm. We asked to be seated on the patio and were shown to our table right away. Our sever Selena greeted us quickly and asked for our drink orders. The patio is a fun place to dine. Outside bar was not opened tonight but they have outside games to play which my daughter enjoyed playing with other guests. We had the Cobb Salad, Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with fries and the Bacon Cheeseburger Smash burger with Onion Rings. Our food came out pretty quickly and we throughly enjoyed all of our meals. I had the Hot honey Chicken Sandwich and it was cooked perfectly. The chicken was juicy and the hot honey one of the better ones I had. The shoestring fries were probably my favorite fry I've had in a while. The ranch is also perfect! I would love to return to try other menu items. Stopped in for lunch with my GF...and everything was decent...with one exception. The hostess and server were very nice. The service prompt and attentive. I had a shrimp app and the truffle fries. The shrimp and asian slaw - delish! The truffle fries...not so much. The fries were overcooked to the point of crispy like a potato chip. Noped out on even trying more that a few bites. My date enjoyed her French dip. The price was decent, and they did give a military discount. So...decent, but I'd avoid those fries. read more

Anxious to visit Rival, the restaurant that occupies the space of the now defunct Walnut Grill ...WOW...the face lift was amazingly done in my favorite color...black..wasn't busy when we arrived... got a seat at the window where the half circle booths used to be now replaced with square bistro tables..menus brought quickly and drink orders taken then food choices made...I had the French Dip with Sweet Potato Tots with a Cajun Ranch Dip...OMG were they ever yummy...Paul ordered the Shotgun Shrimp Nd Truffle Fries ( overcooked and had consistency of splintered wood...would be wise to serve a thicker fry)...overall the atmosphere was upbeat...they even have a electronic dart board and pinball machines...gonna be another one of my favorites... read more

It is a nice place to watch sports game and have a drink! I would say it was on the pricier side of drinks and food. They just opened so they only had one bar staff, the music was quite loud so they did not get my order right but I'm very easy on my food and enjoyed the fish anyhow. We went to Walnut Grill often and wanted to give this new place a try. We were excited since we live closeby and are loyal to good restaurants. Came here at 8p for dinner, no line, several tables open. There was only 2 of us but the hostess' seemed stress to find us a seat (we could see 6+ open tables in just our line of sight). We were finally seated in the banquet room in the corner next to the emergency exit door. We waiting for 25 minutes and no one ever came over to the table. We observed a couple tables who didn't get their food yet that were there well before us. We never even saw a waitress pass our table or acknowledge us. We ended up leaving and went to the Pub in Oakmont instead (where I had an incredible spicy chicken sandwich). Sad that we will probably never go back for fear of wasting our time again. read more

Made a reservation for 16 at 11:30am. Tables were set up for a group of 14. When I asked for additional seats, the best they could do was add a large round table at one end which broke up the group in an awkward way. I so very rarely leave negative reviews- and I wanted to love this new neighborhood spot. We've been saying for years that the area needed a sports bar. We were excited to try it and had high hopes given the owners are the same as the previous owners of Walnut Grill. The food and service were always solid there (shout-out to Peggy and Chyna!) Now it's been reimagined as new, fun spot with a cool theme, a creative menu and a LOT of TVs. Also, a snazzy outdoor area that is reportedly pet friendly and has a bunch of apparently waterproof TVs. So here's the thing. We sat at the bar, and ordered beers which were poured well and right away. They were not very busy so we ordered the loaded tots. Queso, cheese, bacon, scallion, sour cream. What's not to love? We waited. And waited. And waited- with no update ("hey-sorry those are taking so long", etc.) 40 minutes and we sat with empty beers. Finally the bartender (who was one of the other servers and things had gotten pretty busy, to be fair) said "something happened in the kitchen and they had to be remade " and the tots would be right up. They were-and they were barely warm. I won't say "cold" to be kind. At that point we just asked for them to be taken off and we were ready to go. We did expect maybe a comp on a drink- or at least an acknowledgment and apology-neither of which occurred. Probably should have asked for a manager- not to complain, just to point out the hiccup-since they are new and I'm sure working out kinks. We will try again and hope for a better experience. We hear it's pretty popular since it's new and would love to support another local chain from the owners of the multiple Walnut Grills and another Rival in Bridgeville. read more

I really would give this a 2 for the food and drinks but I added an extra star because there were a few little yard games set up that kept our 4 year old busy. First of all, when we sat down we asked for a lemonade for our son. We were told the lemonade was out, so we just got him a water, when it arrived it had a weird lid on it because apparently there were no more lids. Our kid immediately spilled it everywhere including all over my pants mostly. So I ordered the blackberry mojito mocktail and my husband ordered an athletic brewing beer. Server came back 5 or 10 minutes later to tell us they were out of blackberries for the mojito but could do blueberry and they didn't have the Athletic brewing beer. At this point I was wondering what they actually did have because we were 0/3 on what we ordered. We decided to just order our pizza and skipped drinks. I also got a side salad with ranch. The salad was $6 and had lettuce, shredded carrots, cucumber and croutons and all the same quality as one from Eat n park. The pizza came out and all of the cheese was completely melting off of it like dripping almost. It seems like they got the fresh pizzas from like giant eagle and just cooked them or something, crust is 100% not fresh. Just overall not a great experience which is unfortunate because the vibe outside is nice if you have kids. Just not good quality food and advertising drinks that don't exist. read more

I gave Rival a second chance. We sat on the side where it was a bit quieter and they did turn the music down and even off for a bit. With the noise not being a problem this time around, it was a much better experience. I do hope they get rid of the convenience fee and I do think they could lower their prices just a little. I also ended up trying out the pretzel during my last visit. I don't quite think it's worth $12 but it was a decent pretzel and definitely had some kind of butter seasoning on it that was fine. read more

$14 for a rail margarita is absurd for a neighborhood sports bar. Instead of a game-day atmosphere, the place was blasting outdated club music from 15 years ago, making it feel more like a bad dance club than a sports bar. Service was apathetic at best. Not sure how they cooked it, but the consistency and flavor just wasn't appealing. Then to have a 3% surcharge for using credit which was not disclosed prior is inexcusable. A sports bar that doesn't know how to show football games. Called ahead to confirm that they would have the Bills game on. Was assured they have Sunday ticket and could put it on for us. Arrived half an hour before kickoff and asked again before being seated. Got a table in the back in front of a TV nobody was watching. 10 minutes after kickoff they were still trying to work the TVs. Server was very kind and assured us they were working on it. Finally got the game on near the end of the first quarter for one half of one drive and then another staff member turned it off. I really wanted to like this place. Went with group of 5 for dinner. Started with a 14$ margarita. Very little alcohol and no offer of salt on the rim. For dinner ordered a fish sandwich and substituted a salad for fries. Up charge for that. Salad consisted of a few pieces of lettuce, one grape tomato and 4 croutons all on the same plate as the sandwich. Fish was good, a little messy to eat. Paid with a credit card, up charge for that. Don't think I'll visit again, the music is overly loud, very hard to talk and service slow. And those up charges......! read more

A weekend trip to the burg placed us in close proximity to a new sports bar in Fox Chappel's Water works. We gave it a try and everything was great. From the host who accommodated our seating request to our server Nico who not only provided excellent customer service but was an excellent company representative who really cared about our experience. It was so nice we went back the next day to watch the Steelers on one of their many TVs. We had pizza, wings chicken and shrimp basket and desert over the two visits. We went closer to when this location opened at the end of May 2025 and it was decent. Service and quality were good and we said we would go back. We went on the 4th of July and it was terrible. Food tasted like everything was out of the freezer and not fresh and cooked with minimal effort. Now we will likely not return. read more
