I'm a big fan of burgatory because of the ability to customize your burger from type of meats, cheeses, toppings, and seasoning. I got a custom wagyu beef burger with fries and it was made in about 25 minutes. The staff however seemed a little irritated when serving my table as she was very slow at checking in on us during our initial order as well as refills throughout the meal. (It was also not that busy). The overall experience was good food wise, but kinda of a letdown service was. Hopefully a one off, but unfortunate for me. Definitely the largest smash burger I've ever had! Almost a little too wide for my preference of smash burgers, but still very good. I always prefer fries to chips, especially with a burger, so I wish that was different. The menu is incredibly large and inclusive to different dietary needs which i loved! I had the peanut butter Oreos milkshake, which was good, but could have been a little better. Maybe it was all the cream on top the mixed in, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. First off, the burgers are HUGE. If you can finish one, good luck staying awake. We came in a group of 5 on a Monday for lunch, fairly empty. Our server (Elijah?) was so nice and super attentive. I was looking for late lunch options when I remembered that Burgatory is running a new $5 Menu on Mondays. Of course, I had to check it out . We ordered the Margarita, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. I've had many BYO burgers here throughout the years, but this was my 1st time trying their smash burger. It totally is a smash hit!! The toppings were fresh and crisp and the fresh cut chips added a nice crunch. The burger sauce is always yummy. I thought the bun was good on its own, but maybe a little too big for a single smash patty. The chocolate shake hit the spot for dessert. The wide straw works great. I love that they provide the leftover milkshake that didn't fit into the served milkshake glass. Burgatory has me looking forward to Mondays with this $5 Menu! read more

We went on a Sunday afternoon and immediately got seated! It wasn't crowded and there was no wait. We absolutely loved our server, Kathleen, who was the nicest and always checked in on us. She also gave us awesome recommendations. We will definitely be back just because the staff here is so nice!! I love that they have vegan shakes here. They are so good! I think they even make their whipped cream out of Aquafaba, it is soooo delicious and more importantly, won't hurt my lactose intolerant digestive system. They have a large menu of drinks and food. There's something for everyone here. I love the vegan and vegetarian options too, there's veggie burgers and salads available. I liked their chicken sandwiches too. They have amazing onion rings they batter in house and the sauces are made in house too- spicy ketchup and horseradish Mayo. They make everything from scratch here. They are known for their burgers. This is a local Pittsburgh joint that does not disappoint. The burger choices are to die for and affordable. The dining area reminds me of a dive where it's dark and dingy but it was somewhat comfortable. The servers were very attentive and knowledgeable about menu and the types of burgers. I'm glad they made recommendations that I really liked. I went with a customer here around Thanksgiving and they had a turkey burger that tasted like Thanksgiving dinner. Made a reservation thru Yelp for this location this past Saturday evening. We arrived a bit before our 7:15 resy and was seated right away. This place is in a very large shopping center, so it is very busy inside and out. It's a tad dark inside with tons of TV's to watch your favorite game. Our server was super nice and gave us the rundown on how things work. I love the form you can fill out yourself for a build it yourself burger. You fill in everything you desire with add-on prices clearly marked along with the free toppings, then put your name on a tear off tab and when the meal is delivered, it has your name from that tab right there. Super cool concept. My wife and daughter also ordered up shakes. They were real thick and a bit too much heavy whipped cream. They said it was a bit too much. More shake, less cream. Still very tasty. I had to dry their 13 spiced dry rub wings with hot honey. Haven't had a wing since January and there were cooked perfectly with an incredible spice flavor (cinnamon, 5 spice, etc). That hot honey addition was to die for. For my meal, I had the ground chicken burger and it was juicy and not super messy. They have a great tap list too for beer lovers. I was so excited to try this place! Its keto friendly with a lettuce wrap option but I was so disappointed! The lettuce wrap was quite brown and my burger came out raw! I built my own and circled the "no pink" the waiter took it back said he would fix it but i just wanted it off my bill. Food was good, server was good...no complaints about either. However we went on a Saturday afternoon (the restaurant was not that busy, we did not have to wait for a table). My husband and I were there with our 6 year old and 8 month old. When we checked in the hostess told us they had no high chairs. We asked if one would be available soon and she said no and that there were already people waiting in front of us. It was incredibly hard to enjoy our meal with holding a baby and trying to keep him happy, entertained, and from grabbing our food. If you've ever been around a wiggly 8 month old baby, I'm sure you understand. I even mentioned being able to be seated somewhere where we could grab our stroller from the car so he could sit, but that comment was ignored by the hostess. If you have a baby needing a high chairs, I would only come here if it were a time when the restaurant was empty as you will be holding your baby the entire meal. read more

We have been to another Burgatory location in Cranberry, but it was our first time visiting this one. It was about 3:30pm on a Saturday so there was no wait and we were seated immediately. Our server (Kathleen I believe was her name) was very nice and helpful. She took our daughter's order first so she would get her food quickly and was very accommodating and made some great recommendations. So 5/5 for service! We both got burgers and our daughter got grilled cheese with chips. The chips were a bit on the hard side, but the rest of the food was hot, fresh and very good. None of us took advantage of the "build your own" this time, but there's a huge number of options to choose from so you can definitely build whatever type of burger you'd like. The total was about $50 for the kids meal and two burgers/sodas and the change from chips to fries ($4 total). So really not bad for the amount of food that you get. I'll definitely continue to visit Burgatory whenever I'm in the mood for a good burger! read more

I haven't been to this Burgatory before but it seemed every bit as great as the one in Murrysville. This time around I used Google assistant to create a reservation but from the looks of things, we probably didn't need it. Service was good ... somehow the bar tender ended up waiting on everyone at thr bar, our table, and at least two others, but she handled it well and was friendly and attentive. The beer battered onion rings are among the best rings I've experienced and are HUGE. We also had some kind of loaded nachos and they were good. But the burgers were great. I'm in town this week for vacation and when I saw a restaurant with a name like Burgatory I had to go. As out of town-ers, the name and concept immediately made us want to give Burgatory a try. I read a few reviews and looked at some mouth watering pictures. Now I'm amped up and ready to go. So I set out to give these guys a try and they did delivered. I love the customizable options here! There are dozens of different choices to build your own burger, including vegetarian/vegan options, or interesting proteins like bison or 50% bacon burger. The number of choices on the list might seem daunting, but it's all part of the fun. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a full service bar, it has flat screens above the bar seats. It has a small sports bar feel to it. The complaints?   One, the food took a really long time to come out.  They were busy, but it was an exceptionally long time. Overall great food and atmosphere. Delicious burgers. The beer selection was good. The burger options were vast. I had the make your own burger and that was fantastic. You pay more for the food but the environment is great. read more

Fantastic experience for the 5 of us. There was a bit of a wait and the hostess was kind enough to call and alert us as well as call to notify us when our take was ready. I built my own burger and chose a local, grain bun with the elk burger seasoned with black peppercorn. Topped with a garlic/mayo sauce, cremini mushrooms, arugula, sliced red onions and sliced tomatoes... everything was delicious. Jessica was very attentive and a great server. Ordered takeout from this Burgatory location last week. I'm rarely disappointed in Burgatory...but what happened to the crab cake??? Its my favorite. This was the first time I ordered something new. I created my own burger and fries. It was delicious but I still want that crab cake. My daughter always gets the chicken tenders and devours them. My husband gets the impossible burger creating his own combo. He loves it. So easy to order online and pick up at their back door. You do not even need to get out of the car. TAKEOUT Experience. I really want to note that this was not customer service related whatsoever but this was a really disappointing quality of food. I also want to note that with the impact of supply chain etc I totally get that places are hurting for quality products. With that being said we ordered takeout and I actually got there before the food was ready since we live about 5 minutes away. We both got chicken burgers and they were just really really bad. Dry, severely over cooked, and burnt. Despite being 5 mins away both of our orders were cold and I'm assuming our fries/chips hadn't been freshly fried. My boyfriends bun was completely stale and I was missing my side of sauce. I wouldn't be as pressed if this was McDonalds but for 30 plus dollars you expect slightly higher quality. read more

I had a really disappointing dinner here last night. I used to eat at this Burgatory very often, but haven't in about a year. I order it on Grubhub sometimes, but it comes from the North Side location. I am usually a big fan! Last night was just all around bad. My dad and I went around 5:45 for a quick dinner after work. We started with chips and guac (the Holy Mole) and the guac was good! I don't remember it having olive oil poured on top before, but it was good once mixed together. We each made our own burger. I pretty much always get the exact same thing, the vegan veggie burger (thank goodness they brought it back!!), with sweet onion rub, whole grain mustard, and lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. The veggie burger looked good when it came out, but I noticed it was very red. I bit into it and my whole face turned red. It was SO spicy! I didn't order anything spicy on it, so I thought maybe they put the buffalo rub on instead. I tried to eat another bite (and I do like spicy food), but it was too hot! All I could taste was cayenne pepper. I had to ask our waiter about it since I literally could not eat it. He informed me that they started adding Frank's Red Hot to the veggie burger recipe. He also said another customer complained that it was spicy. That was disappointing that the recipe had changed so much since I used to really love the veggie burger. He asked if I wanted something else, so I ordered the impossible burger since it's the other veggie option. I ate my side salad while I waited which came without cheese even though I marked on the sheet "cheese is ok" since they usually think I'm vegan from ordering the veggie burger. My impossible burger comes out and I cut into it only to see it is pink! It's obviously not a real burger, so I still bit into it. OMG it was ice cold and not cooked! The top was brown, but when flipped underneath it was totally raw. I was so disgusted at this point (and hungry). I felt so bad, but had to tell our very nice waiter again that I couldn't eat it. He offered to put it back on the grill, but I told him it was okay since my dad was basically done eating at this point. He asked if there was anything else he could bring me like a milkshake. I agreed and got a chocolate milkshake, expecting it to be complimentary for the negative experience. Nope- the milkshake was on the check still! I probably will not go back since the two vegetarian options were both bad. I hope that things change here since we used to visit about twice a month. read more

This is probably the worst experience I've had at a restaurant so far. 1. My patty came raw (photo attached). I kept tasting blood and feeling nauseated for a good while even after we left. When I told them, she wanted to just reheat it instead of replacing. I asked for it to be replaced. 2. Another burger we ordered as wagyu came as literal white meat chicken. How do you even mess this up?? 3. Waitress was gossiping and explaining what happened to our order to another customer near us and it made us really uncomfortable. 4. It was rather hard to get any staff member's attention and some even saw us raising our hand but blatantly ignored us. 5. No water refills, no cutlery, no napkins For the actual burger review: 1/5 It was very dry, unseasoned, barely any sauce or condiments. Mmmm! That place is always consistently delicious- even if you dine there or order to go!! My most recent visit, I had the order to go! I had a customized burger. I had mine with horseradish cheddar cheese, (spicy) honey, avocado and pickles! Oh my! This was sooo tasty!! Also, I highly recommend the horseradish cheese! It gives your burger a nice kick without being overly spicy! I also got an order of fries with my sandwich. One thing I did notice, I portion of fries didn't seem consistent. We ordered three burgers with fries and each burger had a different amount of fries. Oh well, they were still yummy though! Finally, did you even go to Burgatory if you didn't order a shake???? I ordered the peanut butter Oreo one! And they give you a thick straw so that you can actually drink the shake! Mmm. Highly recommend! We arrived at 6:30. I was concerned about getting a table because I'm physically disabled. Fortunately there was an open booth and we were seated immediately. Our server (Coryn) greeted us promptly. My wife ordered an iced tea and I ordered a beer. She came back shortly with the tea and a beer glass that was only a quarter full. She said the keg ran out so she gave me that one for free while they changed the keg. I tried it and didn't like it. She said she'd get me something else. I'm not an IPA fan so I told her that and ordered something with a nondescript name. She found out it was a mild IPA so she brought me a sample of it along with a winter lager. The winter lager was a hit so I ordered it. I told my wife Coryn just earned a big tip. When our food came out the burgers were overcooked. They were ok but not as good as expected. We pointed it out to her and said it was no big deal but we wanted to make them aware. She was not happy about the quality and said she would let the manager know. When she brought the check, they had comped us half the price of the food. What could have been a dissatisfying meal turned out quite pleasant thanks to one of the best servers I've ever had.
