The restaurant is located at the bottom of the Maverick and the decor is absolute gorgeous. By the end, I was convinced that their wallpaper would look great in my living room. Our waiter was very lovely and attentive. There was one small issues with our appetizers which resulted in them being delayed. He took full responsibility and made it right. I really liked my pear centric cocktail, it had a very appealing purple shade. My salmon was very good with nice bright flavors. It was a little spicier than expected but not too hot either. The coconut rice was good to help with that. The Korean fried tofu was perfectly crunchy and slightly spicy (this time it was expected). Good flavors to it. The babaganoush was excellent with all the extra little toppings on top. The seeded crackers were excellent and I wished I had ask if they made them there. My friend had the crispy eggplant and bread service (no gluten for me sadly). She said everything was good as well. We shared the Japanese cheesecake. It was absolutely delightful. The texture is so light and creamy! The banana pieces with the creme brulee crust were so good. Excellent caramel sauce. Overall, trendy space with good food and drinks!

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The drinks are definitely crafted with care and have a lot of complexity, but with only two bartenders working, it took quite a while to get ours. Not the place to go if you want quick service or are grabbing a drink before another event. My biggest downside is the price point--most cocktails are around $17. A group was trying to come in as we were leaving but we told them they were closing for the night. So be aware of that, if you're planning to go late night (past 11 pm). However, the drinks were amazing as always! They now added a couple of small bites so we tried the cucumbers. They were delicious and packed with flavor! Our drinks were great as always. I don't have much to say about the bartenders because I didn't really interact with them. I think the only recommendation I have is to put the cigars in a humidor rather than a plastic bin. Both of my grandmothers were your typical Hispanic women who made the best Mexican food I had growing up. Living in Pittsburgh, most Mexican restaurants I have visited usually miss the mark and I typically never return. Not with Buenatarde! I usually avoid eating at Mexican restaurants in Pittsburgh, as I'm always disappointed with the quality of the food. Most restaurants seem to use premade ingredients, which is insane cause Mexican food cooked fresh is usually not that hard or expensive. Not with buenatarde, everything we ordered was made in house. The refried beans and rice tasted almost as good as my grandmothers use to cook. Not quite, but close! The carnitas tasted really good, the only issue we had was it was a tad dry. Not sure if it was overcooked, but it did taste good. Otherwise, everything else was great and we will be returning to try the brunch on a weekend.
