Yinzer Cheesesteak is big enough to share.
Christina W.

The perfect place to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon. We came for a late lunch and to try their beer. Appetizer: Nachos with beef is good. A bit colder than we are used to. Beer cheese could have been more generously drizzled, but it was ok. Yinzer Cheesesteak: we added mushrooms and it's big enough to split. Tastes delicious. Pittsburgh Pale Ale is an American pale ale and it's light and very drinkable. Hubby drank Dinosaurs in Space (NEIPA). Quick, friendly service. Sit at the bar or booth in the front room. There are a few other rooms available down the hall.

First time here and really enjoyed the beer! Plenty of options, and they are open Tuesdays which a lot of breweries are not in Pittsburgh. Bartender was fast, and plenty of seating inside! We had a cheesesteak, which was decent - they were out of a few things on the menu but still had plenty of options.

Delicious beers in a cool atmosphere! The bar is small, but the overall space is sprawling with multiple rooms. I had the Dinosaurs in Space and it is a wonderful hazy IPA. I had a few half-pours of 2 others that I didn't like nearly as much--but it is great that they offer half-pours. I also had the fries with beer cheese, jalapeños, scallions and bacon and they were wonderful. I will go back for more food....and more Dinosaurs! I sat at the bar and the bartenders were attentive

Loaded Nachos & Cranberry Sauce Sour

A nice brewery in Upper Lawrenceville! They have a nice selection of beer options, all with fun names, ranging from IPAs, stouts, sours, and wheat beers. I ordered the Cranberry Sauce, which was a nice smooth sour that had a subtle sweetness and a tart aftertaste. We also ordered loaded nachos to share as an appetizer since happy hour deals include $2 off apps. The nachos were topped with fresh ingredients of jalapeños, tomatoes, beef, onions, sour cream, and queso cheese. The ingredients were chopped finely enough to mix throughout all the chips and the cheese was spread around so no chips became too soggy. Prices were reasonable as well, especially during happy hour (4pm-6pm), so looking forward to coming back and trying a different beer.

Canned cocktail, so refreshing

What a fun spot! I loved the non-beer options (delicious canned cocktails) and lunch was fantastic! I got a grilled chicken wrap and it was so tasty. The bartender was friendly and fun to talk with about things going on in and around Pittsburgh. I would definitely return. It's very close to the zoo, so I'd say check it out after an outing there.

Excellent food, excellent service, huge space with plenty of seating. Beer: I tried a Helles and a Hazy IPA and both were very good. There was a great beer selection and I wish I would have been able to try a few more. Food: I had a burger which was excellent. I would have added a picture but it didn't last very long. There were 3 of us and everyone enjoyed the food. Service: There was a QR on the table where you can order food and drinks. The drinks came out shockingly fast and although the food took a bit it was worth the wait. Parking: We were able to find close parking and although the area by the bar was full there was plenty of available seating in the back. Games: There are also pool tables, darts, and a large Jenga game to play.

We visited Hop Farm on a Wednesday from 6-8pm. I was surprised that it was empty! There are a few outdoor tables, however, the inside is giant! Multiple rooms to choose from with the largest room having games. I ordered the Adjective + Noun beer and a Reuben. The Reuben is not a standing menu item, it was a part of their specials. Both the beer and the Reuben were super good. I would definitely order them again. My daughter came with and enjoyed the space. They do have a kids menu available. My friends ordered the vegan nachos which i did try. They were okay- nothing to write home about. Everything you order is through a QR code. It came out quick for us! We will be back.

This might be my favorite brewery in Pittsburgh. Why, you may ask!? Well... those vegan nachos are on a different level bro!!! Don't get me wrong, I love their beers too, A LOT!!! This place is so spacious and welcoming and everyone who was there on the day we visited were just on a very chill vibe. I loved that! The bartender had a very relaxed personality and was very helpful and that made us want to stay longer and vibe out with everyone there. I'll be back again and again!!!

I love Hop Farm! In addition to their giant warehouse space, the bar and main seating areas are located in what feels like a house. There are so many places to sit and relax. Every time I come in here the staff are super welcoming and happy that you're there. They have a great rotating menu of beers with everything from dark beers to hazy, to lighter beers as well. I tried the nachos for the first time. They were delicious but a bit heavy for me. They give you a lot of food for a reasonable price. Can't wait to spend my winters at Hop Farm and enjoy the cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

After a stroll in Highland Park, we were looking for a spot to grab dinner that would allow pupster. We thought of Hop Farm as we always found it a good spot with solid food and beer. They've expanded quit a bit, taking over the other side of the building where the gym used to be. This means is far more spacious and has some games, so people can really enjoy the space. There's no table service, QR codes to scan and order via Toast. It's fairly easy and they're quick to get drinks and food out. This time around Hubs had the chicken sausage sandwich and I did the Hop Cobb salad. Both were filling and delightful. I appreciated the greens and sweet potato combo of my salad. All the beers were tasty. There's a smokey one that is very smokey, leaving me feeling as if I just ate BBQ. If that intrigues you, I recommend it. Until next time!

Love love love this spot. I'm curious to know what it will be like on a summer evening - post covid restrictions. I don't eat hamburger or red meat but about once a year I have a craving for a juicy, messy burger that I can't deny. I usually try to seek out the best option around town so my once in a blue moon craving isn't let down. The Hop Farm Burger DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It's a smash burger style which is new to me. I don't think I could have eaten that burger any quicker. Neither burger was overdressed or too big to be eaten with your hands. Perfect! Highly recommend the salad on the side. It was so fresh and with just enough dressing. The fries were also delicious but more filling. I was able to clean my plate and my partner had leftovers for later. Moving from Asheville, NC I've been spoiled with great craft beer and I love a good sour. A lot of sour styles I come by in Pittsburgh are "fruited" or smoothie style and I'm just not a fan of that. The Very Merry Un-Birthday sour that is infused with herbal teas was a pleasant surprise to stumble on. A thirst quenching sour!! 10/10 recommend all the way around guys. I would and will make a special trip across town to be back!

A Very Merry Unbirthday

Maybe one of the cutest breweries I've ever been to. So aesthetic, full of florals and bright light, making it the perfect place to spend a day. The outside area and warehouse are dog friendly and there are QR codes to order from. Since it's at the far end of Butler street it's pretty easy to find street parking.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.

The Lamb Sausage & Peppers pizza featuring housemade lamb sausage, roasted red peppers, confit tomato, ricotta and burrata cheese, hot honey, and basil. It was amazing. Velum is a really cool spot. My friends and I like to play pickleball but don't want to be outside…read morewhen Pittsburgh weather is doing Pittsburgh weather things lol. The indoor courts are super nice and it's fun to have access to other games, a delicious food truck, and awesome drinks.

So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.
