Great place to grab a beer and catch up with friends. They have an indoor and outdoor space! Allow dogs outside. There is often a food truck or you can bring outside food in. This place is in the heart of lower Lawrenceville.

Light shandys for mom and hazys for me!

Our favorite beer in Pittsburgh - and we drink at a lot of breweries. The Hazys are unmatched! They always have a wide variety in the menu from hazys, light shandys lagers or kolsh style beers, to even sours and dark beers. Can get multiple sizes pours, and they have plenty of specialty nights each week. Try it Tuesday gives you 3 8oz pours for $10, Trivia on Thursdays, and sports on the TVs. Food truck calendar on their website is updated pretty far out, and their social media game is on point. Staff is always friendly and knowledge! Space isn't large but big enough each time we're there, and we love bringing the dogs outside when weather is nice. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Visited as part of Pittsburg guild brewery list. IPA was very nice. Wish they had wine pours. Rotating food trucks available. It's in a neighborhood so parking can be a bit tricky. But it was a nice laid back place to visit.

I love this place! I stopped in one night 30 minutes or so before closing and I really didn't get to enjoy this amazing place like I wanted to, but at least I got to check it out and have a couple of their amazing beers and get a cool glass for my collection and look forward to coming back. It's very chill and everyone who was there was happy, smiling and enjoying themselves. I love everything about this place; it's location, the beer, the staff and the building itself. The bartender who waited on us was a super cool dude. He gave us some stickers and was just super friendly. I really loved the outside sitting area and I look forward to coming back and enjoying some food from one of the food trucks who are there and trying some more of their tasty beers. Thanks for being awesome :D

Cool brewery with interesting beers and ciders on tap. Stopped by on a Saturday night and the tables outside were filled. Some people had their dogs with them. There was a good truck, it looked like poke bowls and sushi, though we had already eaten so we didn't sample anything. Inside there were a bunch of empty tables and bar seating. We sat inside to enjoy the a/c after being outside all day. I enjoyed the had pour of my sour and just looking around it seemed like a popular beer. It was tart and refreshing. My husband had the doughboy and enjoyed his as well.

This is a beer beside my thumb (for scale)

In the running for my personal favorite Pittsburgh brewery. It's got a great location tucked into a backstreet of a trendy neighborhood. The service is efficient and friendly. They have food trucks regularly.

They have Blue sparrow is outside! Perfect dinner timing

One of the few dog friendly breweries in Pittsburgh(patio only). Lots of large tables and good atmosphere. This place smells like a brewery! It's not trying to pretend to be something it's not. Super down to earth place for great beers. Their sours are definitely worth a try! They have good trucks including Blue Sparrow quite often which is my favorite local food truck. Pic below is from Blue Sparrows $9 Korean bbq burrito. Nomz...

Eleventh hour is a nice brewery in a fantastic residential location. I love how easily accessible this place is by walking or biking. The beer selection is vast and the outdoor space is plentiful. I tried their fruit sour last time and it was sweet, refreshing and delicious but definitely not all that sour which is probably why I liked it. Their stouts and hazy IPAs are also very solid. Another added bonus - they bring amazing food trucks on site (like Tocayo) which really adds to the fun and relaxed atmosphere. The only reason I can't give this place five stars is that the two times I have been here I've noticed that the smell inside the brewery is horrendous (even with a mask on and the windows open). You get used to it if you sit in there long enough but it's definitely jarring when you first walk in.

Have been here a couple times and we love it! They have food trucks that come, the staff is always super friendly. It is dog friendly. Some breweries can be pricy but not this one and they have a good selection. We love that there is outdoor and indoor seating. The vibe is laid back. The brews are yummy from the few ones i've tried.

Saw this nice little spot and decided to try it out and got an 8oz shandy which was suppose to be $3 but they charged and extra dollar more than it was supposed to be.. kind of a scummy business they're running here

FUN. Classic, open-space brewery. Really enjoyed it. Had a great hard cider on tap that was 8.5% hellyaaaaa. My friends went back and ordered multiple different drafts and said they were great. Pricing was about standard, maybe a tiny bit pricey ($8.25 for an 8oz pour of cider). But would definitely return. Good vibes for sure. Picnic bench seating, which I love.

    Hazy IPAs

This is one of my favorite Pittsburgh breweries. They always have a large selection of IPAs and hazy IPAs. They even have beers similar to domestics sometimes for those who don't drink hoppy beer (this was helpful when I took my non craft beer drinking friends here) There is a decent amount of seating inside, with outdoor seating when the weather is nice. A food truck is parked outside most weekend days, so you can have snacks if you get hungry. They have a lot of fun board games that you can borrow while you drink. Also, it's located on a side street off butler street so you can usually find parking pretty easily, which is an added bonus!

When we were out in Pittsburgh, Wifey and I knew we'd have a lot of time to ourselves (my son was participating in a regional chorus event) and one of the things we wanted to do was the City Brew Tour. What better way to discover a city's great beers that having a beer expert drive you around in a small bus to four breweries and talking about the breweries, their brewing processes and tasting great beer...oh, and add in a tasty meal. Beer bliss! Loved the beer at our first stop of the night, Eleventh Hour Brewing. We received a nice tour of the brewing area and discussed the processing while enjoying some of their tasty treats. The staff here could not have been nicer and they were very accommodating with our questions and they knew their beers. I'm not an IPA guy, but the one we tried was pretty good. I would love to hang out here if I i lived in the area.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.

The building itself was once the St. John the Baptist Church; in true Pittsburgh fashion, people restored and converted the original building to make it a functional restaurant. A note about the interior dining room: you can either sit on their dining side (which has larger tables) or the bar side (which has some booths but is primarily high tables and chairs). The menu has a good assortment of appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, and other entrées. They used to have both traditional pierogies as well as a "flavor of the week" option, although these days they seem to only serve the traditional ones. The menu is refreshed somewhat regularly, so over the years I've sampled salads, fish dishes, pasta dishes, and sandwiches. It's hard to have a "go to" order when it might disappear, but you'll likely find something good when you visit, given the range of options. (Currently, I'm a BIG fan of the Street Corn Arancini. Definitely give these a try while you can!) While the food won't necessarily knock your socks off, let's remember: this is the Church BREW Works. The beer and cocktail menus are definitely where it's at. According to Untappd their current beer menu includes an assortment of Belgian, Porter, Lager, Pilsner, IPA, and Stout style beers. I'm more of a cocktail person myself so I always sample something new when I dine here (again: the menu is refreshed regularly), and I have yet to be disappointed! Like I said at the start, this is one of those places that we try at least once. I'll still come here with friends for sure, but this is admittedly not an establishment that I'll go out of my way to visit. It's fine - not amazing, not bad, but fine.

So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.
