I love how Trace is a little bit of everything depending on what time of day you stop by. They have coffee and tea throughout the day and then their beer selections in the evening. I guess you could still get beer anytime of day too. There were a lot of people working from their laptops in the back room near the fireplace when I visited. It is intentionally a very welcoming establishment that supports diversity and the local workforce. The beer was really fresh and crisp, probably just put to tap from process in a few days. I have been here several times now and, whether at an event, indoors or outdoors, have always had a great time. The staff is full of nice people and the brewery very much cares about inclusivity and making everyone feel welcome. This year I stopped drinking alcohol and now I notice they are also inclusive of non-drinkers, offering not one but four NA options when I asked about them tonight. All came from local breweries - one from Jackworth Ginger Beer and three from nearby Two Frays. I was almost dumbfounded by the amount of choice. The space is great, an industrial chic design, and there's a terrific patio that is pet friendly in good weather. No food here but food trucks are a staple; tonight they had Cold Friends Kitchen, one of my favorites. The only minor quibble you can have with this spot is a confusing parking situation; many nearby streets are primarily permit parking, there is a big parking lot by a grocery that clearly states you will be towed, and if you go one turn too far searching for street parking you're on one of the major streets, can't park there and have to start your search over again. You'll eventually find a legal spot and Trace is worth it. read more

Where I am from, breweries open later and just sell beer and food. The concept of opening early and selling coffee is an amazing way to really optimize business! The coffee wasnt for me, no complaints from.my friends or.my husband. We came for a brunch event and were put off by the greeting. Instead of a simple "hello," we were told, "this is a private event"--which we were fully aware of, as that's exactly why we were there. When we asked about checking in, we were scolded for arriving at the time listed on the ticket and told we should have known the event wouldn't actually start "on time." That may be understandable to some extent, but tone matters--and the delivery came across as unnecessarily rude. The coffee was okay, but the overall experience left a bad impression. Fun times here always. I've been here for a few different events at this point and have enjoyed myself each and every time. Surprisingly, I have not been to disco Sunday but I've been to other parties on Sundays and they are fantastic. It's the perfect place for people in there Mid to late 20s and early 30s to feel free and dance sans college kids ( for the most part). There's plenty of people at the party but not so many that you feel extremely cramped. Drink prices are standard. Their beers and cocktails are pretty delicious. Definitely worth a visit read more

I've always loved Trace for their beer, coffees, great space for remote work and DJ events. This weekend I reserved some space for a party and they were excellent to work with. They were super responsive to emails to help me plan the event. They helped me identify what food truck would already be there so I could coordinate, reserved tables and coordinated with another local business for decoration delivery. The space was an excellent size for our party of 50-60 people. It was also enjoyed by people of all ages. Many of our family members (some seniors) commented on what a great place it was and how cool the vibe is at Trace. I also picked Trace because there is something for everyone there. We have a lot of non-beer drinkers in our family and each person found something to enjoy. Highly recommend Trace for any event. read more

Fives, fives, fives across the board!!! Came here for drag brunch and WOW did the Queen's bring it. So much love and positivity in the room, as well as really impressive acts from out of town and the Pittsburgh area. My expectations were surpassed and I've watched a fair number of drag shows. Just wow. If I lived here I'd be here every second Sunday. The staff here is so friendly and nice, I enjoyed my Lake Hour seltzer, the spicy bloody Mary was good, as well as the rhubarb fruited gose. Had delicious cheese steaks, wings, and fries from Streets on the Fly food truck. The wings were incredible and they make great fries, too. read more

During our visit to Pittsburgh, we found ourselves bussing around to explore the city. While we waited for our bus, we stopped at Trace. The beer list consisted of five or six beers, only one being an IPA. I asked the bartender if that was all the beers they had and he replied with a snarky attitude. I think it's fair to ask a brewery if they have more six beers available, but not to him. Despite that, I did order us a beer. It was fine, nothing great. I think I hated it more because of his poor attitude. He recognized that he was rude and came over to offer us a free can of beer to split - so gratious. We denied his offering because that's not how hospitality works. We weren't rude and definitely didn't deserve that response. I can't recommend this place based on that experience. read more

Awesome brewery in a super cool area. Honestly, I had been looking forward to going here for some time before I finally did. Upon arriving there was a food truck sitting in front of the building which is always cool and I thought damn this building with the layout and art work is cold af and when we walked in the atmosphere was chill af too. I saw a lot of happy faces which is always a great sign, but truly that seems to be the norm in the general vicinity, my kind of people :D I truly enjoyed viewing the clientele while enjoying my brew as well as seeing the bartender serving with a super positive attitude, but unfortunately on the day we visited the power went out unexpectedly and we waited a good thirty minutes in the early evening in dim light so we could wait for them to figure it out to have more beers, but it seems they couldn't, so we departed for the next brewery. I am a master electrician and my gf said, Help them and I was like, I would but there would be a liability issue if I did. I couldn't believe the owner or owners weren't there in minutes to see what had happened, but nope, nothing! Just people not being able to buy beers because there was no way of being able to process cards or at least from ones like us who weren't locals it seemed and we didn't have cash or were given an option to pay otherwise. We were bummed tbh! I love this place and their beer selection is superb. Things happen I get it, but I recommend installing a generator so when people like us are in from out of town we can enjoy your wonderful brewery. Also, I'd have a contractor on speed dial just for things like this. If not for the power outage and not being able to enjoy more beers and smiles, this place is a solid five stars. Btw, We did purchase a couple of their glasses before the power went out and they happen to be two of my favorite to drink beer from now. Overall: love that it's a sister brewery to Remnant in Boston! Super wide variety of choices including beer, cocktails, NA options, etc. also the food truck that they brought in was high quality. Drinks: got a New England IPA that was incredibly full bodied and hazy. As someone who doesn't really like beer and IPAs this one didn't taste like dirt and was quite enjoyable. Also got a nitro brew to stay awake and you could tell they take their brewing seriously when the nitro also has a hoppy esq to it. Ambience/Decor/Service: super open space, super LGBTQ friendly (all gender bathrooms), plenty of tables indoor and outdoor, and rapid service at the counter. read more

Went to Trace a week ago and enjoyed it. However, it was a Friday night and I didn't realize you needed reservations. I never thought you would need reservations at a brewery. It was pretty small inside and I tried to grab a table after some folks got up but the waitress said it was reserved. Our party of 10 was ready to go to another brewery that didn't require reservations when she came back and said they had a party not show up. We were able to locate to their private back room which ended up being awesome! I had 2 of the hazy IPAs. Sooo good! I would definitely order another. They had a food truck out front which was good to grab dinner. I would definitely come back but Im curious if there is a time that doesn't require reservations? That is more my style. read more

Went to the Formula 1 viewing at Trace for the first time, and I was so impressed. The event was extremely organized, the host was incredibly helpful and one of the best perks of all, they are dog friendly! When it starts getting colder usually I have to leave my furry friend behind, but places like Trace are incredible and when it comes to them tagging along. I love that it's a brewery with options besides beer. I got an Arsenal cider in the cutest glass, they also have a wide selection of wine and cocktails. Their rotating food truck selection is a nice addition, but if you don't love what's there that day you can bring outside food. My friend and I were planning to attend an outdoor skating event in Bloomfield but unfortunately it was canceled due to the city's air quality. We noticed the food truck, Taqueria Pastorcito, outside Trace, and stopped by to grab some tacos. Not surprisingly based on my other reviews, I ordered the al pastor. They came plain with a pick your own toppings bar. While we waited for our tacos, we walked down the alleyway around the corner from the brewery to check out the latest mural work. Once in the brewery, bar service was quick and friendly! I ordered the Bloomfield Beach gose, which is a nod to the nearby city pool, and packed full of fruity pineapple, tangerine, and prickly pear flavors. Our visit coincided with trivia night at 7pm, so seating was extremely limited to a few wet and uneven tables outside. We had hoped to participate in trivia, but with being outside, unfortunately we couldn't hear the hostess. I think that Trace could add more temporary outdoor seating for weekday events like trivia, but also understand that they accommodate a variety of events i.e. rollerskating, drag brunches, etc. I caught a brief glimpse of the Coolship Room which features a beautiful brass chandelier, I would imagine it's a unique space. read more

So we came here for my birthday. It was my first time here and I wish that we would have had more time to spend at the brewery. But alas we had karaoke reservations across the street and we only spent about an hour here. But it was a fun hour. The space is super open so it didn't feel crowded even if we were inside. They have an outside area that was very pretty. They have kind of a tiered seating arrangement outside that felt like it would be nice to sit on and have a beer. There were a few tables out there also. Trace Brewing also has different food trucks outside (different ones throughout the weeks) since they don't do food. And that looked really fun. I like to get a few snacks and to sit and have a beer here. Everyone in my party had a ton of fun and everyone outside looks like they were having a great time. My one friend got me a mixed drink and it was delicious. I was really impressed that they had a mixed drink along with all the beer because a lot of breweries don't have different choices. I went with a mixed drink just because it was smaller than an entire beer since we did not have much time to spend there. I think that I would come again maybe during the weekday just because it did get crowded by the time that we left around 7:30. And I would want to sit outside once it started getting that crowded. Have been here a few times with friends and also to a private event hosted here. Every time, the beer is amazing with several diff varieties to make anyone happy. My fave is the Schwarzbier! Staff is friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating options. The graffiti wall outside is pretty cool too! Have heard they have great coffee during the day but haven't made it over there yet for that - will have to check that out soon! They also put on great events with Wicked Skatewear, and while I'm not good enough at roller skating to do so while holding a beer, it's fun that events like that happen! I had a mixed bag experience at trace this past weekend. I went for what they advertised as a "halloween fall market" event, but there were only about three vendors crowded in the main bar room. I expected a lot more, so I was pretty disappointed. Nevertheless, we decided to stay & grab a drink since we were already there. I felt that the beers were just ok - nothing really stood out to me as very special. I'm not sure if they serve food regularly, but there was a food truck outside that some of my friends tried & said was decent. The atmosphere was cool at first, but when the sun went down they dimmed the lights so much it felt like I was in someone's basement with the lights out. I liked the fireplaces, though. Also, there is no table service & the bartenders were drinking behind the bar, so I would be nervous that we would take a while to get served if it had been busy. Trace is relatively new to the brewery scene in Pittsburgh, and they came in with a bang. But, run by a team of beer industry veterans, this was no surprise. Their head brewer has years of experience brewing beer, and you can tell by the flavor profiles of his brews. But what's especially fun about Trace is the experiential aspect -- while their classic styles are incredibly drinkable and delicious, they do a lot of experimentation with wild ales. You can taste foeder aged beers, wild-fermented brews, and more. It's a great way to get out of your comfort zone and taste something new! And, though beer is great, the vibe is even better. Trace serves coffee starting at 8 a.m., (beer comes later) which makes it a great place to work, read, or hang out midday. Their architecture is really interesting -- it's like a roof was put over two buildings, then ripped off to create their outdoor beer garden. (Next time you're there, I recommend looking around the different rooms/spaces in the building.) And, they've become an important face for their community, holding events and working with new food vendors, musicians, artists, and more. This is a really cool place to hang when it's not super crowded and you can actually sit and have a convo. I love the vibes here and how there actually is ample seating inside and outside. They usually have a food cart parked outside - we've been here for tacos and chicken sandwiches from Mr. Nick's. The chicken sandwich was soooo good! You order drinks inside from the counter and the menu is wide! They have their beers as well as Personal Day seltzers, a few cocktails on tap (the mojito was really good and strong), and some ciders too. They also usually have a DJ playing too. When there's a special event, it can get pretty loud and crowded and hard to find a seat. Parking does get hard around there too so if it's crowded, we park down by the beer store near there. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and our twins. We both had the day off and so decided to head to Trace Brewing knowing that the weather was going to be nice and that they had an outdoor beer garden. So my wife took the kids to the beer garden while I went inside. Trace Brewing is located on Main St in Bloomfield. The inside consists of a bar that offers both beer and coffee and then they have a display case full of their food for the day. After scanning a QR code to bring up their menu and look at what they had on tap, I ordered us some beers. While I normally get samplers at breweries I have never been to before, Trace doesn't offer them. So I ended up ordering myself a Science Rules! (DIPA) and my wife an Agio (Italian Pilsner). Our beers were quickly ready and I headed outside with them. I tied my beer first and liked it quite a bit. It was a hop forward beer with a bit of fruit mixed in. At 8.2% it was pretty strong, but I would have been hard pressed to tell you that from its taste. After that I tried my wife's beer. It had a smooth start with a nice finishing flavor of hops with a bit of bitterness. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed the beer garden and the ability to bring our twins and thought that the beer was good too. We just wish that they had a bit more of the pane e pronto food whenever we got there. read more
