I have all the paperwork to turn into the state's attorney and board of insurance and board of naturopaths. I went for her for cancer support, she NEVER helped me, she helped herself. Had I stayed with her I'd probably be dead by now. I got the worst imaginable advice from her. She belongs in jail. She has one customer up to $500,000 owed in interest. Another customer had to file bankruptcy.

My coworkers are an inspiration, and I regularly receive compliments from residents and their families regarding the care we are providing. Before coming to work here, Avamere had been a customer of the company where I previously worked. I had the opportunity to work in Care Communities (assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers) all over Oregon and Washington. I worked in communities and facilities which were run by Avamere, as well as their "competitors". From my perspective, you could feel a difference in Avamere versus the others. The staff were genuine, and offered sincere compassion for their residents and patients. The administration seemed to be connected with the staff and resident and patients, as well. It was the many opportunities I had to work with the different companies, and in so many locations, which led me to want to work for Avamere. Unfortunately, I had signed a non-compete clause with my former company, and therefore had to be separated from them for 2 years before I could be employed with Avamere. So, I did my time! Now, I'm here, at Avamere (Avamere At Hillsboro) with intention! I love this company and couldn't be happier with the decision I made!! I worked in the dementia unit for residents that need extra care with day to day activities such as going to the bathroom, getting dressed, etc. I only worked in the dementia unit so I cannot speak for the assisted living section. I treated our residents with the dignity and respect they needed and deserved. After working there for almost a year I noticed the manager, Executive, care staff and nurse turn over rate was brutal. Not one person could keep a job there because they kept getting fired, I didn't know why until about a month before I was let go as well. Everyone who tried to report avamere was fired. residents were getting neglected in one way or another from nurses giving expired medications (like insulin for our diabetic residents) to the care staff laughing at residents and giving them terrible nicknames that correlated with disabilities that they had. I reported this kind of behavior to my managers and executives and they made me believe they were doing all they could to prevent it. After months of this vulgar behavior i felt that I could not stand by and watch these residents that I had become so close to be neglected and abused. I called the regional nurse and told her my concerns for the residents because my direct supervisors were taking no course of action after 5 months of this behavior from the staff. She pretended to hear my concerns and as soon as I was done talking to her she called my direct nurse and I was brought into her office and given a warning about "going over her head". A couple months go by and the behavior of the staff seemed to be getting worse. One day my co-worker and I were on break at the same time and I expressed my concerns to her and told her I wanted to get in contact with the state board of nursing and report Avamere at Hillsboro as a whole. I grew very close to most of the residents I took care of and hated the thought of them not getting the best care they could if the managers would just do they're jobs... well my co-worker went to my direct supervisor and told her that I wanted to report Avamere to the state for elder abuse. Less than a week later I was pulled into my direct supervisors office and was told they would have to let me go because I was "not getting along with my co-workers". A report to the state would seem a lot less believable from a disgruntled employee... Please don't put your loved ones here, at least not in the dementia unit. The staff feel like they can get away with whatever they want because residents with dementia cannot speak for themselves in most cases and if they can most people will not believe them. Avamere does not care about its residents or the residents families. They are only here for the money. This truly broke my heart.

Earlier this Summer I got myself into a bit of financial trouble on account of my love of Living Social deals. There are just so many good ones to choose from! This past June, when Comcast temporarily shut off our Internet and the City of Tigard hung a warning that our water would soon be shut off, I'd blown through our monthly budget purchasing: light therapy facials (TOTAL BUST!!!), 20 for $20 yoga classes (saving til the weather turns depressing), and a Monarch Medical Weight Loss Package. I realized when I purchased the Monarch deal that I wasn't the ideal candidate for a medical weight loss program. I mean, technically, I'm not overweight. However, I do fluctuate up & down around 30 lbs a year and my eating habits can be highly bizarre (think: fried chicken 3 days in a row, then nothing but cabbage soup for a week). I needed some guidance & accountability, solid nutritional advice and a manageable & sustainable dietary plan. I informed a few friends about my purchase and they all communicated the same message - I was a fool. I disagreed - at $125 for a $500 program, even if we had to bathe in Fanno Creek for the rest of the Summer, this was a STEAL. Friends who'd heard of Monarch told me that it's a cult, and that once you're in - you're in it for LIFE. My first impressions of the office weren't great. The waiting room doubles as a store front for the company's packaged foods. I read the labels and everything contained corn syrups & sugars, simple starches & tons of chemicals. For someone who grows a large portion of her own food & raises her own chickens for eggs - not very impressive! I immediately felt foolish because, other than the women working, I was the only non-obese person in the office. I wondered if I'd made a huge mistake and would be humiliated right back out the door. I was handed a headset, some notes and a pen, and seated at a computer for a recorded presentation on obesity, dieting, weight loss & weight management. Useful information delivered in a creepy, non-personal way. Next, I was led into a room where I was told I would not be a candidate for prescription weight loss pills, but that the B Shots included in the program would give me energy and make me happy. Awesome. I was weighed, measured, and poked in the butt with a B Shot. I then met the main doctor, and founder of the practice. I asked him if it was okay for me to be there, and he assured me that it was. I then explained my eating patterns and he told me they were the most unusual eating habits he'd ever heard of. He then explained the process of weight gain and loss via scientific terms & some hand-drawn graphs. He explained how these processes applied to my own eating habits and how to best control the processes through calorie counting & food choice. The doc explained that, because of my (normally) healthy food choices, I would not need to purchase the pre-packaged foods, but need to carefully measure portions & count calories. I got a binder of useful information and a punch card for 9 more B butt shots. 20 minutes or so after I left the office, the B shot kicked in and I had more energy than I'd felt in ages. I've been back about once a week since the initial appointment for a weigh-in & booster butt shot. I lost about 8 lbs total, though I've grown lazy about the small meals, and put back on a few. Still, should I again decide to be purposeful in my eating habits, I'm now armed with the information to do so safely & reasonably. I sincerely recommend this program to anyone who is serious about losing weight & maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I'm removing one star because I'd like to see people steered more towards a whole food diet, rather than all the gross pre-packaged stuff.

More than 4 signs outside and even inside each counter space (more than 4) has social distancing posters as well as a one way enter and exit system on the floor taped off. Maximum occupancy of 8 people posted clearly at the front door. All staff wearing masks and customers are required to as well. The employee who helped me was wearing gloves as well, hand sanitizer provided. She was very kind in not only greeting me and helping but was efficient and fast, at the end I had to order the part and it was nice that payment was taken cared for in advance and thanked for coming in. The staff was in the holiday spirit as well by wearing Christmas sweaters and playing Christmas music too!
