I've never had a negative experience in the years we've been using this pharmacy. Yeah the line may be long at times, but patience is a virtue many people have forgotten. Any time I have a question, the pharmacist always makes sure I understand before I leave. They're the most helpful and personable group of people back there. They're also very easy to get ahold of on the phone unlike CVS and other pharmacies I've had to deal with when Rite Aid doesn't have the immediate medication I need. read more

I had a scheduled appointment and 25 minutes after I checked in, I was still sitting there with not a word said to me. I'll never go back here even though it's closest to where I live. Made an appointment fora Covid immunization several days in advance. I received multiple reminders from Rite Aid and was early for my appointment scheduled for 6pm. When I arrived, I had to wait, ok, that's to be expected there. When they did call me, I was informed they did not have the immunization I selected, because they didn't get a shipment that day. I'm wondering why someone didn't let me know they did not have it since my appointment was at the end of the day, and my name was in the computer for the appointment?? Very poor customer service. I shop at Rite Aid quite a bit back home so I know the in's and out's of being a saavy shopper at Rite Aid. This one is a pretty nice and big store but customer service wasn't very good. The cashier who did my check out was curt and *not* courteous. I used some coupons and he had trouble with one and he got quite frustrated quickly even though I was trying to walk him through the transaction (because I know more how their registers work than they do, haha). I also had to ask for a rain check for an item they did not have in stock and he was somewhat grudging in writing one and when I pointed out that he wrote the limit on the wrong line, essentially giving me the item for less 3 for $___ when it should be 2 for $ ___ and then putting 3 as the limit on the next line, he got all frustrated again and looked mad that he had to rewrite the rain check (he could've just crossed off and write over and then initial his name/initials) again. So overall, I wasn't impressed with this Rite Aid and am glad for the ones I usually shop at back home where the cashiers are generally friendlier and more proficient. This Rite Aid has undergone a complete revamp (back in June 2014). I was completely taken aback when I stepped inside today--the place looks wonderful; night and day makeover. I felt like I stepped into a mini Nordstrom's or something. The fresh look brings faux bamboo flooring, new lighting, new illuminated shelving, new check stands, new bathrooms, new beauty brands, complete with a nail bar and and a lash bar. There are several eco-friendly cometic brands and several new make-up & skincare lines too. I even found a whole shelve devoted to Kenneth Cole cosmetic bags and accessories. The Wellness and Pharmacy section has expanded it's services and products with a strong focus on health-care. There are more organic food and beverage choices, supplements, vitamins and natural personal care items on the shelves. To date 1300+ Rite Aid outlets have undergone renovation with more stores slated for remodel. I absolutely love the new remodel --but don't think about remodeling those ice cream flavors that I grew up on (back when a single scoop set you back 35 cents). Love my Chocolate Malted Crunch, Cookies 'n Cream, Pecan Praline, Mint Chip, and Rainbow Sherbet!! Love the fresh new digs and layout. Might have to switch my scripts to this Rite Aid Pharmacy. read more

Took too long to fill a rx. I never received a call from them for being ready to pick up so I had my Rx moved to another pharmacy.

The saga continues this tim I had to pick up some medications for my wife. I truly believe the goal of this store is to see if they can run the worst location in the US. There is no stock in the pharmacy as I found on my last visit - we had to change to another pharmacy who had the medications in both instances. Not only is the pharmacy in adequate but the store shelves are bare. I'd say you'd be better flying to Mexico to get medicine than coming to this store. There are no employees and no support for the few they have. The manager should be ashamed of themselve. It really is the worst store in PG (I mean comparing every business in PG) - this store is in shambles and I wonder if the corporate offices do this on purpose or just to get their brass paid more. It definitely does not go into supporting their "team". I just feel sorry for the employees and the customers at this place. Terrible. I took in a new prescription and the first thing the pharmacist asked me was, "Do you fill your prescriptions here regularly?" No, why does that matter? "Well, we only have a small amount of your medication and we're holding it for our regular customers." So let me get this straight: I have a valid prescription for a medication you have, in stock, but you won't sell it to me? That seems borderline unethical to me. The store itself is really nice and large inside with an ample liquor section and a Thrifty's ice cream stand. However, the main issue that is holding me back from giving additional stars is the pharmacy; there is one technician there (who shall remain unnamed) who has a rather unpleasant attitude. I had to go several times just to try to refill a prescription without having to pay out of pocket, and she kept telling me that I needed to call my doctor to verify the insurance information with the refill or something complex along those lines; I knew it was unusual because I'd been to Walgreens beforehand and was able to do it seamlessly. Supposedly others have had problems transferring and refilling prescriptions there. Nevertheless, I got it squared away and it was really cheap, but just something to beware of. read more

Incompetent at Best. They never have your prescription ready no matter how long they've had it. The pick up window doesn't know what they are doing so they send 50% of people to drop off to figure out for them. The pharmacist said really loud "it's vaginal cream" to the poor girl in front of me. It's run down, past it's prime and uses every angle to charge. They don't give an opportunity to decline consult for new meds so they can bill insurance for consult. Yes it must be offered in state of CA but not forced. read more

This is all about the I-Scream! The other day I had a lousy experience at a grubby PG ice cream shop. Two Yelpers wrote reviews after I had my say. One of them was on some red state / blue state thing about the military. I didn't live here then and I don't even care! She never got around to explaining WHY the place is ALWAYS filthy and WHY the guy (owner?) is such a bad business man. George Bush isn't president anymore. You guys need to stop acting like he is. The cross-dressing cashier actually makes me smile because he ensures that I am not the tallest "lady" in the store. Also, the other cashiers often chit-chat about whatever I'm buying (or not-buying -- sometimes it's just weird personal confessions on their part) and that makes me feel way more uncomfortable than a dude (sorry - I am not sure if he identifies as male or female but I will assume male until told otherwise) wearing fake eyelashes. Pacific Grove is such a boring, vanilla town. To have a cross-dressing person working in a public facing position takes real balls/ovaries for the person and the manager. I say, "Bravo." Anyhow, I stop in here once in a while because I live nearby. I'm not wild about it but the fact that it is there does make my life more convenient. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only. I have not shopped much in the store, other than to grab something and purchase it while at the pharmacy. I do not understand why the associates that work in the pharmacy are consistently rude. If it weren't a pain in the tush to transfer my significant others prescriptions over to a new pharmacy, we would not use this pharmacy ever again. Even over the phone, when we call in a refill, they are rude. We say please and thank you. We are patient and don't give anyone a hard time. We wait patiently on hold each and every time. Have you ever forgot your meds while on vacation?? So, I'll give this place 2 stars because the bottom line is that they did finally get my prescription filled, even if it took almost an act of Congress to get it done. So, my wife and I have Kaiser. We left home and a couple hours into the trip realized we forgot my 2 prescription meds that i really should not go a day without. Enroute to Pacific Grove we confirmed on the phone with Kaiser that any pharmacy could get us the meds if they just call and get approval from Kaiser. SOUNDS EASY ENOUGH RIGHT? We were really hoping this Rite Aid Pharmacy could help us with this dilemma. We walked in at around 1pm and explained the circumstances, the lady took down some info and seemingly reluctantly said "It may take a few hours, but we'll take care of you". We thanked them for their help, left and did some site seeing in the area, giving the pharmacy as long as possible to make the phone call and fill the prescription. We called around 4:30pm to check on things. The response from Rite Aid Pharmacy was "Kaiser put us on hold so we couldn't get through". They tried a massive1 time in 3+ hours? We then went to the Rite Aid Pharmacy to try to help things get sorted out. Rite Aid Pharmacy told us that they tried calling Kaiser 2 times, 1 time shortly before we got there and that both times they were not willing to wait on hold. On the spot we called Kaiser ourselves, got through in 6 mins, and then mentioned to Rite Aid Pharmacy that "we have Kaiser on the phone right now, can you please take care of this now?" The response from at least 2 of the pharmacists was an asinine - "we can't touch your phone". Well, that's perfectly reasonable. You know hand sanitizer is very useful for having to interact with the cooties of my phone for 2 minutes. I'm pretty sure it's available in this same building. SERIOUSLY? You can't touch my phone to get this taken care of? Wow. Your commitment to " take care of me" is overwhelming. If i had thought of it i would have suggested that they could friggin talk through my friggin speaker phone so that nothing comes in contact with any friggin flesh of any kind. At this point it was clear that this pharmacy was not going to help me today. We left with no meds, and no real way to get them that evening. The next day, I had written off Rite Aid for this task for obvious reasons and was going to go through a different pharmacy altogether. During breakfast, Rite Aid Pharmacy called me and asked if I still wanted the prescription. I said yes. They said the meds would be ready in about 20 mins, and they were. Problem solved, a day late, but it was solved. I wouldn't recommend Rite Aid Pharmacy if you absoutely need meds before pigs fly. I'd rather die by paper cuts than use this pharmacy again. read more

The worst pharmacy ever! Went to pick up my husbands meds and were told they hadn't received the faxed prescription....uh...I'd handed them the doctor's written prescription just a few hours earlier. "Oh, we have it. Come back in an hour." This time they faxed my husbands renewal for pain meds to the wrong doctor. No problem they said. I'll fax it over now...that was on Friday when the doctor's not in the office. No problem for YOU Rite Aide... Sadly, the poor service here is the norm, from what I've observed. Picking up our last prescription today. CVS here we come. I RARELY write a negative review, but their lack of professionalism, care, compassion, and follow through has just become too much. I needed to pick up my prescription that my doctor called in before I left for vacation. I immediately went over to Rite-Aid and waited. They did not have any record of the prescription. I called my doctor and confirmed location and prescription call in. Again, they did not receive it. I did this FOUR TIMES over the course of 8 hours in one day. NEVER did they offer to call the doctors office directly. I called the doctors office while on vacation and they called it in YET AGAIN. I get back in town, swing by and no meds at Rite Aid. She THEN asks if she can call the doctors office. I told her I didn't have the number on me and she gives me a blank look. No offer to look it up, etc. I told her I was going to use a different pharmacy. Within 10 minutes, the new pharmacy had my prescription (from my doctors office) and told me it would be filled within the half hour. I'm so glad that this wasn't an emergency because they certainly didn't have any urgency to help me. read more

I like the employees who work here. But the place is consistently understocked and terribly understaffed. I cannot go to this Rite Aid without bargaining at least 25 minutes of my life away, waiting on someone do something like (a) finagle with their prescriptions, or (b) haggle with a staff member over coupons. I CANNOT IMAGINE how so many -- well, frankly, imbecile customers -- can be around here particularly when housing costs here are astronomical. But the real problem is that store management responds to these imbeciles' slowdowns in the wrong way. When you have a "problem customer" you should take that customer aside and deal with them outside the line, so that other can get in and get out. Don't make everyone pay for one customer's asinine behavior. Oh, and another thing: I recently smelled cigarette smoke wafting in from outside. Management doesn't even have its arms around enforcing relevant anti-smoking ordinances at public building entrances. Even the Rite Aids in Newark, New Jersey, where I went to law school, are better about keeping their ship tight -- and Newark, well... it's no Pacific Grove, that's for sure! I'm just saying... I just don't know what's up with this Rite Aid location, but something's got to change. This is Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach for goodness' sake! This pharmacy does not honor the law passed in California almost two years ago allowing women to go in to the pharmacy and get birth control pills without a doctors prescription. They had the gall to tell me I was wrong in that a woman still needed it. Nothing like women's rights being stomped on again and again and again. read more

I really enjoy my local Rite Aid, it's where I buy all my beer. Just up the street at much larger grocery stores, the beer is three, sometimes five, more dollars for a 12-pack of micro-brew beer. I'm not a huge fan of getting plastered by binge drinking; I like to sip down a few quality beers instead of quantity. Besides beer, every time I've gone in here for certain things, they've had it in stock. I get friendly customer service, and can't complain. read more

I'm reviewing the management of Rite-Aid. It sucks. Period. The only redeeming factor is "Eli", who has worked here for a long time. He has a giggle that's infectious. If you get to know him, he's actually a really nice guy. BUT, I needed to make a return on a product. Eli was busy, so he paged for another checker. A woman saunters to help, after what seemed like FOREVER. She then had to page a manager to authorized a return. They paged THREE times. Out saunter a young "manager" with the shirt and tie. No smile, and the most arrogant slow walk. He punches a button and just walks away. No, hello. Nothin'. Maybe management needs to get in the trenches and ring up sales for a week solid. They could use a customer service tune-up from Eli. read more

This is my drugstore of choice around here. The pharmacists are nice, though the clerks are sometimes iffy. The layout is on the diagonal--some idiot's idea to "update" or "modernize" or something. Seems like an inefficient use of space to me. Prices are reasonable, and often cheaper than elsewhere (especially the in-house brand). When buying mass quantities, though, I usually head to Target. I love this staff. I've been filling here for years. They are thorough and kind. They are so busy and I've seen them deal with awful people. I wish I could jump back there and help them sometimes. Recently there was an issue with my medication and the refills. I actually was pretty confused since I've been on this medication for years and didn't understand what he was saying to me and hadn't heard it before. After I left I was still confused. I called and talked to the pharmacist and he explained it so I understood it. He took time and care to do so. I don't understand all these bad reviews. Came here late at night with my boyfriend since he needed some NyQuil ASAP! Poor guy had a fever, sniffles and angry tummy. So a little ice cream was also in order. This rite aid had a big ice cream selection and was open late. Plus! I got the circus animal cookie ice cream. I have never seen such a thing, and darn it there should be more of it. It was like nostalgia in a cup. Me gusta. Now why the 3 stars? Rite Aid prices are not as great as prices as say, Target. The NyQuil we got last time at Target was about 5 bucks, and here its around 10. Yikes. I really hate giving bad reviews. I have thought a lot about this. Will it matter? Probably not. But here it is. I had a refill for my insomnia medication on a Friday. My doctor actually acted quickly when I asked that she make sure I had it before the weekend. So great, pharmacy has it. This pharmacy is dependable. I know they have it. I don't get a text. So I call, leave a message. Give them 8 hours. Don't get a call back and think oh they are busy, so leave another message. No call. So I go there. I am "greeted" by Katie, who I tell I am here for 2 medications and she starts screeching that I have 4 but they are not ready because they are doing vaccinations and they have been doing them all day and she and the pharmacist are the only ones there. I tell her that I understand but I only need one and I tell her which one and she again starts screeching telling me it's not ready and it is ultimately up to the pharmacist and I said ok may I speak to the pharmacist and she says he is giving shots. She has lost all her cool at this point and I question why she is dealing with the public. But I go on my way and I don't say anything to her because....why - she appears to be frazzled beyond but you know what, I didn't do a single thing to be treated like that. To have my business of 4 prescriptions waiting to be filled echoed for others to hear (HIPPA violations , ya think?) Of course, I didn't have the medication so yeah...no sleep but I just kept thinking I didn't do a single thing to her, why did she think it was ok to talk to me like that ? What would happen if I needed that medication to live ? Would she have screeched me away ? I have great empathy for the employees of that pharmacy. I have watched what they have endured since the Pandemic (and before) and I know they are all professional and really go above and beyond. I have never ever had a problem here. If Katie had said to me listen, this is what today has been like, the Boosters have taken the day up and the medication is here but I just don't know if we are going to get to it. If we do, you will get the text. And I am so sorry, I wish it was better news. I would have said I understand, because I do ! Again, will this make a difference to Rite-Aid Corporation where they think that their trainees should not be left alone until it is evident that they won't lose their cool over crappy days ? I am sure that it was a crappy day of boosters and prescriptions and all of that, but I contributed to none of it, so why I got the end of that, I still don't know. So yesterday was different. I was not going to be treated like that by Katie, the pharmacy tech trainee. I left a message that I would be there at noon to pick up my prescriptions and I would pick them up and be on my way. I did just that, except for one bizarre, sign this paper, which I have never signed before, but whatever, "trainee" comes to mind. I think my message is more to Rite-Aid than anything. I realize finding employees is difficult. I have seen your long time employees, working their tails off, and I am sure you need additional people, but maybe, just maybe, the trainees shouldn't be left alone until you know that their cages aren't going to be rattled by the every day issues that your pharmacy is faced with. read more

I would put zero stars for the pharmacy if I could. The reviews that mentioned lying are not to be questioned. They told me my doctor didn't fax the med or that they ran out of supply more than once. One time they said they ran out and it was back ordered and I arranged for the prescription to be transferred to CVS. It took me some time. Now mind you ,this is the third day without my medication. As soon as I informed them of the transfer I get a text that it was ready for pick up!! I've been ignoring them and tolerating, but today is another day of being in the Rite Aid circus ring. After waiting and calling and calling I was just told to come later. When I asked when ,she changed it from late afternoon to six pm.
