After being a long term customer of the pharmacy I will no longer because of the way I was recently treated. After submitting my prescription 3 weeks ago I went into pick it up. I was then told they no longer carry my prescription but no one bothered to call and tell me this. The clerk then stepped aside and had me talk to the manager who was one of the rudest women I have ever met. After giving me the run around she said they were too busy to inform me of this and all they can do is to apologize, which she never actually did as she continued to justify the lack of care for their patient. Think twice before giving them your business. read more

Called to refill a RX. Does not take 5 minute to refill it. I myself have experience in pharmacy/medical field. Called @5:56pm. Suzy (manager) answered the call. They close at 6pm. Told her I need a refill. She said, "We're getting ready to close. You can do it online, or call tomorrow morning" I said "you can't do it now?" She said "no we're closed." Ok got her name. & hung up. She called back at 5:57. Right when I got her name last call. She offered to get my rx #. Said, "She'll do it tomorrow morning." I said Um no thanks. Asked for the other managers name which I am going to call Monday. Im sorry I know you're tired and want to leave, but if you're working at a pharmacy and people need there meds I would do it even if its 5:59-6:00pm because its a Medical field job and you can be a in problems if the patient needed those meds that same day. (If they're present) but in this case it was by phone. Right when I asked for her name she called back and offered something. Like no you should think before you speak. read more

Excellent small mom and pop pharmacy. Really takes the time to get to know their patients instead of rushing you like big chain pharmacies. Love that it's family run. Zach, Russell and Suzy are always great at helping me with any prescription questions or over the counter medications/supplies. All of the pharmacy staff is great. They fill your medications very quickly and send a text when ready. The rest of the shop is very fun to browse. There's always someone on the floor who can help you if you're looking for a specific item or gift ideas. Love the seasonal candles they have. They have a beverage and snack area as well while you wait. Really good local honey for sale too if you're sick with a cold or flu. 10/10 recommend this pharmacy over any other in town! read more

First quality children's gifts, one of a kind crazy clocks, and fragrant lotions. Need a card that includes everything going on and happened in a given year as a birthday gift? They have it...as well as funny cards I've never seen before. OH!!! They even gift wrap with a smile! Steve helped me and has a flair for picking out the right colors. After having surgery to remove a large tumor from my leg, I found that I could not get around without great difficulty. I went to a competing pharmacy on a Saturday (before it closed at 1:00 pm) because I needed to rent a wheelchair. It advertises wheelchairs for rent. Hobbled painfully into the place and found out that the department that rents the wheelchairs was closed on weekends. Nowhere on the ads does it say that. Hobbled painfully back to the car on my walker and headed for Star Pharmacy and Gifts. The atmosphere was wonderful. Spacious, decorated nicely. Clean. Neat. Beverage bar even. There is a large selection of wheel chairs, transport chairs, walkers, and canes. But the best feature of the pharmacy is the customer service! Three people ended up helping me and a fourth person offered to help. I was able to find a transport chair to rent for a month because they just started renting them. It was new! I picked out a cute cane. Plus, I got a post-operation shoe that my swollen foot can fit in. I had tons of questions. They had tons of smiles and information. While we were there, my husband and I observed the staff interacting with other customers. All were treated with great courtesy and efficiency. There are various medical supplies that you would expect in a well-stocked pharmacy, but also a lot of beautiful gift items. I'm so glad we ended up there. Once I'm back in my two feet, and even though it's way on the other end of my city, I'll be stopping by to check the whole place out! read more

Cute little shop of trinkets. I really wanted to like the pharmacy but my experience with them in just over a week has left me feeling disappointed and more than a little frustrated. Ten days ago on a Friday I called to ask if they could have all of my prescriptions transferred from CVS. the lady I spoke with asked me for my name, birthdate, and phone number. She told me she would call me back if there was a problem. The following Thursday CVS was still showing my prescriptions active with them. I called Star Pharmacy to see why. The person I spoke with told me that whoever took my information misspelled my last name and had my birthday wrong. She said that she would call CVS and get it taken care of. Two days later, at around 10:30 AM I called and was connected to a voicemail system. I left a message expressing my concern that CVS was still showing my prescriptions active and that some were needing to be filled soon. As of this writing I not heard from anyone regarding the matter. Immediately after leaving my urgent message with Star Pharmacy I called CVS and was told that they had never heard from Star Pharmacy regarding my prescriptions. I asked them to do the transfer. They told me they would call them right then if I could give them their phone number. I gave them the number. Star Pharmacy is closed on Sunday so I was not able to confirm whether or not they had been contacted by CVS until Monday. However, I made a trip to CVS spoke to someone there who confirmed that all of my prescriptions had been transferred out to Star Pharmacy as I had asked them to do. On Monday (today) I want to Star Pharmacy early in the day to confirm that they had my prescriptions. I was told that they had them and were "waiting on authorizations". Now, this evening I called to see why I was not able to see the status of my prescriptions in their app. The somewhat indignant person who answered (also the first lady I spoke with more than a week ago - who apparently took down my information incorrectly) told me that she needed my insurance information. While conversing with her I went to get my insurance card. I asked her why I wasn't asked for it when I was there this morning. Also, how are you doing authorizations without that very important bit of information? She asked me which prescription I needed filled. "All of them at some point" I told her. "Don't you know by looking at them which ones are coming up for refill?" She said "we don't have the history. If you need one filled you just have to call us and we will get it for you." I asked her why their app has a medication section if not that I should be able to check on the status of my prescriptions and be able to easily track and re-order as needed. She told me that I will not be able to see the prescriptions; that if I needed a refill to call or just put in the prescriptions number in the app. Frustrated and more than a little pissed, I told her that I had my insurance card in hand and what information did she need from me. She told me didn't need it that she had run one of the prescriptions and it was all good. AMAZING! Apparently she could see through my phone to gather my information she claimed she needed. Or, perhaps her statement she needed my information was a lie. I'll leave the reader to decide that for themselves. In any case, tomorrow I will see how quickly I can get my prescriptions moved to another pharmacy or back to CVS despite the epic lines, short staffing and lack of answering the phone, at least they didn't lie to me! read more

The pharmacy staff are always friendly and I like using this pharmacy because you never have to deal with long lines like at CVS BUT.....I now have to use a different pharmacy because they won't fill a certain prescription anymore because it "costs them money". That's what they said--it costs them money to fill the prescription! I have insurance that pays for it but whatever. read more

The BEST Pharmacy in Salinas, in my opinion. Fast efficient customer service. Friendly staff. And best of all, you don't pay any more money. In fact I just picked up some prescriptions from CVS and it cost more than I paid at star pharmacy. No long lines and they practically greet you at the door to serve you. I went to pick up a prescription for my daughter today and got the worst service I've ever had at a pharmacy. The clerk was rude and short with me from the start. She basically yelled at me for not being able to read what the doctor for the doctir nit putting their i.d. number on the form-none of which was might fault. Then, after giving my Blue Cross insurance card, she told me this is not a pharmacy card, and I couldn't use it. I ended up having to pay out of pocket even though I have good health insurance just so my daughter could get her meds right away. I don't know if she was having a bad day, but she sure took it out on me. WORST SERVICE EVER My family will never go back here read more

Star Pharmacy is a local business and that counts a lot in terms of customer service. Example, one of my docs is never good about authorizing refills on time but since they know me, they always make sure I have meds until the refill order comes in from the doc. I most refill via the web but even walking in with a new script might only mean 10-15 min wait and you can go over to Star Market and get some yogurt pretzels in the meantime. This is not a big box retailer. They will get to know your name, they will keep in touch with your doctors, and they do have the knowledge about the things you are taking. read more

Went in curious about a device and was assisted wonderfully by Mr. Ostarello, decided to come back later after pondering on other available devices. Returned about 2 days later to purchase the device. It was the worst experience, young lady was instructed to LIE, claiming not having the device. When I pointed out the device Russell Ostarello came storming out and confronted me with a VERY NASTY HOSTILE attitude for no apparent reason, I was confused. It is very unfortunate Mr. O interacted with a client/patient in such barbaric manner. read more
