Gas is gas although some places cost more but I enjoy this Shell since they have a pretty sweet conbini (nickname for convenient stores in Japanese). They have a decent selection of cold beverages like most gas station shops bit guide one has a lovely standing sunglass rack. I used to sport Chanel sunglasses my freshman year at UCSB but ever I had to support myself no more boutique shopping (only for special occassions) and I'm all about the disposable eye fashion. F21 visit usually end with me and 5 new pair of shades and I just picked up a $16.99 at CVS that are totally early 80's and I often check out Shell's selection for the newest vintage trend. I get gas here pretty regularly as I commute to San Jose from Pacific Grove, daily. Today, I was rather offended as one of the attendants was working outside she was playing obscene music via a boombox loud enough for me to hear from pump 3. I don't feel like this creates a friendly environment for patrons, especially on Labor Day weekend as many are coming from out of town. read more

I'm going to have to notch them down a star. I've been having problems with the gas pumps. Sometimes they don't activate at all. My credit cards are paid, nothing is declined, but it sometimes just takes forever for the pumps to dispense. The owner of the station needs to look into the glitch and fix it. This has happened more than once. On the bright side though, it's nice to get a pure blend of gas. Circle-K started selling ethanol in their fuel. No effin' way!!! That stuff gums up your fuel lines, and sticks to the insides of the engine. Yes Shell costs more, but at least it's real gas. read more

I've been coming here for years and have been quite satisfied, especially when it was a full service station. I have a question, however. As a senior lady, it's become difficult for me to check my own tire pressure and fill my tires with air. Does anyone know if there is a full service station in Pacific Grove or Monterey? Where does someone go to have minor things like oil checked and tire pressure checked? I don't want to have to go to an auto repair place just for that. read more

Everyday's a Sunday in good ol' PG - meaning you are stuck behind incompetent slow (so so slow) and stupid drivers every day of the week. How come no one is in a hurry in PG? Is it the place where time stands still or am I the only person in the radius who works? Anyway, this gas station is a hidden gem a. it is never full and b. it has a nice little convenience store attached with decent coffee. I have never seen such a nice staff at a gas station before. I purchase gas here a month ago and I accidentally left my wallet on the gas pump. After driving up the hill to go deposit I realize my wallet was missing and immediately called the Shell Station to see if they perhaps found my wallet and the manager informed me that my wallet was safe in her office. They are such nice people and keep everything well lit and clean. I love my local Shell Station read more

This was actually a pretty decent Shell! We stopped here to get gas and use the restrooms as we were being typical tourists traveling from Monterey, to Carmel to Garden Grove. I'm still in shock that this Shell's restrooms were in as good as shape as they were. Especially for a gas station! The little convenience store inside was pretty good too, lots of snack and drink options. Gas prices seemed about right for the area, they may be higher than others but I wouldn't know as we are just passing through. Would definitely come here again. read more

About a week ago I experienced something that I never thought I'd see....the gas attendant told an elderly lady that he was forbidden by the owner to clean her windshield. I had finished filling up my car...and since it was very obvious to me that the senior citizen could not clean the window herself...I immediately offered to clean the window for her. While I cleaned the window for the 80+ year old...the employee stood by watching and other customers commented on the situation! Shame on the owner of this Shell station. While I understand that most stations no longer offer services....I believe that it is important that we all remain civil to each other...and employees should be encouraged to be good citizens...and help out those who can't do it themselves! read more

I have a disabled son and everyone at this station is very thoughtful and helpful. I don't live in Pacific Grove anymore but I still make the trip from Carmel a lot of the time because it's a safe place for us to stop. They know us there and they look out for us. I am very grateful. read more

I usually get great service here but tonight was different. I went in the store to buy some items as usual and the lady working TANYA was absolutely so rude I cannot believe that she works there. I have worked in customer service for many years so I can confidently say that she needs a lot of training in that area. When I confronted her to tell her I felt like she was being rude and uncalled for she just smirked and told me to talk to her manager tomorrow morning. I'm too busy to deal with this so I hope the manager sees this and explains to Tanya why her actions were not okay. Also, she never once said sorry after I confronted her about being so rude. read more

I have been going to this station since 1980 but I am 88 now and a bit crippled. I don't feel steady walking around the car cleaning the windows. I worry I may fall. This morning I pulled in for gas and was the only car there. I asked the attendant if he would squeegee the window for me. He said no--because the company will not permit it. I am going elsewhere when I find a station that considers its customers a little more than just the money they bring! I find that disgraceful! Do not patronize! read more

I normally love this neighborhood gas station. It's clean, well stocked, and in a convenient location. Aside from gas we mostly use it for the food mart because we live down the street and it's a quick place to pick up soda and snacks. But tonight I was appalled by the attitude of the woman working there. It was about 6:00-ish pm on 3/31. There was a man with a really cool mustache and a heavyset woman with long hair pulled back working. The man was friendly enough and greeted my son and I as we walked in. At some point while we were choosing our snacks the woman took over the register. We approached the register making small talk and joking. She gave absolutely no indication that she even saw us- no eye contact, no smile, totally ignored us. Fine, no problem, I don't need a friend. So, as we finished our selections we put them on the check stand area and she began ringing them up- still no acknowledgement of our existence. Just then, another woman walked in and said she had her elderly mother in the car who needed to use the restroom and was it ok. Checkstand woman scowled, took the key from the side of the register and literally chucked it at daughter of bathroom woman without even looking up She finished ringing us up. Said "do you need a bag?" I said "yes, thanks." She looked as if she did not understand what I said. I said again "yes, thanks, a bag would be great." She stuffed our things in the too small bag- crushing some chips in the process. No biggie. I put my card in the chip reader. It came back rejected. I had JUST used it at Rite-Aid and I have plenty of money in that account, but no problem. I picked another card that I know has a generous balance. Again- rejected. I asked her to run it as a debit instead of credit. This time I watched her and she was doing something with the register as I was putting in my pin number. Big surprise, it was again rejected. In the meantime, daughter of restroom lady came back to return the key and said "thank you very graciously" (she HAD to have picked up on the attitude) and got no response, not eye contact, or a smile, or a word. At that point having no idea why my perfectly good cards were being rejected I said "well, I'll have, to go somewhere else. Would you like me to put the stuff back?" Only then did I get eye contact and a surly "No, I"LL do it." We left and went to 7-11 where my debit card worked perfectly fine. I don't know if this woman just got the worst news of her life, or is simply a rude miserable person, but I hope that things get better for her. She needs some happiness, but she should not be working for the public. read more
