Employees are always friendly and the store is well stocked with over the counter medicines, toiletries and snacks. However the pharmacy itself can be very hit or miss. I've never been able to get anyone to pick up the phone and voicemails are unanswered. Waits can be longer than normal when waiting in store. I received feedback via YELP from Pam F to discuss in details the situation which I did per the link she attached over month plus ago NO RESPONSE BACK and it only has gotten worse. Who's the region manager for that area??? The store does not stay stock at all the shelves are always empty...How are you having weekly sales and your store are out of the items at start of the sale week Sunday??? Who do you guys have working for you? The people are only trained for certain things instead of everything. The response shipment comes this day or that day. The store itself is not bad but if you're looking for any service from the pharmacy, take a beach chair, a meal, and a book with you. Also, they have all kinds of stuff for sale in the checkout line, most without prices on them. Both of the people in line in front of me had a problem with that. read more

The pharmacy is... interesting. The pharmacists often ignore you until you flag them down, wave your hands, holler, or do something overly blatant in order to get their attention. I thought it was me, not being assertive enough at first, but then I realized that other costomers have this same issue. It's weird. Once you get their attention however, you're golden. read more

I come here pretty often as I work close to this location. Th staff are friendly and the store is clean. The prices are a little high, probably because of its downtown location. One thing I don't like is there is someone usually always hanging out in front of the store panhandling. The manager does not appear to care as I have brought this up a few time and they still don't do anything. Overall it is not a bad place and its the only pharmacy in the area. read more

The pharmacy used to be good, but now it is a shitshow. The phone is always in use, the voicemail is broken, my doctor can't get through, and the pharmacist told me my doctor would just have to deal with calling over and over again. Last month when the doctor got through, the pharmacist who took down the information apparently did not use the 'right form', although he filled the initial fill; it had 3 refills. I spoke with an assistant two days before the refill, and I was told the three medicines I was to get would be ready. When I went in two days later to get them, one was out of stock already, even though I was told it would be there, and the other two were on that 'wrong form', and the different pharmacist who was there that day refused to refill them unless the doctor called them in again. We both called the office, and they texted the doctor, and he said he would call them in. BUT! The pharmacist was on the phone with someone else instantly, so when the doctor called, he could not get through. I offered to give the pharmacist the doctor's on-call number, but he refused to call. He said the doctor would have to call him, even though he knew the phone was always in use, and the voicemail is broken. I spoke with the doctor's office then, and they said he would try later. So, I managed to get through to the pharmacy several hours later after I went home, but the doctor had not been able to get through again. The pharmacist told me I should tell my doctor to buy an electronic prescription submission system. Clearly, it was the doctor's fault for not having one, and not the bone head who used the wrong form, the broken voicemail, or the martinet of a pharmacist who was there then who refused to call the doctor and deal with the mistakes made by Rite Aid. There have been so many issues lately with the phone, the computer has been malfunctioning, medicines that I get every month are out of stock, even though they know I get them every month. I was told it is essentially a race now. Even if they know I am due for a refill, if someone else comes in before I do on that day, they give them the medication, and I have to wait for it to be ordered. It's a shame, but after using Rite Aid for over a decade now, I have to change. Until earlier this year, I had no real problems, and the prescriptions were filled automatically on time. Now, they are never filled unless I call and call and call to get through, or go there in person. They closed the only other store in New Haven, so they are going to lose thousands of dollars a month as I move elsewhere. read more

I know that I will never come here again. Came here yesterday and they couldn't find my prescription. Then she just walked away, and didn't bother telling me that they didn't have it! Came here again today, and the same rude girl was working and they still couldn't fill my prescription and again didn't bother telling me anything! The people that work at the pharmacy are so rude and they really need to start putting their customers first! Ended up going to CVS and waited 2 minutes for my prescription. Go to CVS instead! I went to rite aid to fill perscriptions after a trip to urgent care. I walked right in and they filled my pills in about 10 mins. I had another perscription from out of state and the pharmacist transfered and filled it on the spot, like in 45 seconds he was done! Maybe I was there at the right time, but I was so pleased. I took a star because their grocery selection was meager. I wanted cup o noodles and they didn't have them. Everybody has cup o noodles!! read more

The first time I went to this Rite Aid pharmacy, it was right on the heels of a whole day spent unsuccessfully trying to get a prescription filled at the Walgreens pharmacy on York. I walked into Rite Aid and there was no line at the pharmacy counter. The pharmacist took me right away, was very pleasant and friendly, and got me entered into the system in minutes. While I waited, he served another customer, and thoroughly, clearly, and efficiently gave her all the information she needed about her medication. Within fifteen minutes of approaching the counter, I had my prescription in hand and was out the door. Especially considering the competition, this place was great-- the pharmacist on duty in particular. Good for them. read more

My experience today has made me wonder if I will ever go back to this particular store. The pharmacist (Larry maybe?..older, tall, man) was rude, arrogant, and condescending. When a significantly higher price for my prescription rang up, I asked him to put my order aside while I called my parents to verify that that was the correct amount for our insurance. He clearly was disgusted about being inconvenienced and rudely told me in front of others to, "go call your mommy." It took all my energy not to turn around and tell him that I am the customer and it is his job to provide quality and kind service to me and every other customer who walks through those doors. Thankfully, there was a lovely pharmacy technician (Joan I believe), who took over and went above and beyond in assisting me. My apologies to her for needing to carry the weight that the pharmacist clearly isn't carrying. read more

Terrible. I tried to transfer a prescription here and the pharmacist was basically like, "Yeah, I don't want to take the info over the phone, we close in five minutes, bring in the old bottle tomorrow." And then I explained to him that I didn't want to wait while they do the transfer and fill the script, or have to make two trips (one to drop off the old bottle and then one to come back to pick up the script.) I had to ask, "Can you please take the info now, so you guys can do it tomorrow and then I can come pick it up?" and he gave me so much attitude in response. I finally just gave up. I'm happy to go elsewhere and avoid the misery here. read more
