Unfortunately, I have did not have good experience here. One of the prescriptions that I usually get at my regular pharmacy was not available. I called Madison for assistance to see if they could get the medication. I was quoted a ridiculously high cost for this medication - a medication that is approved through my insurance for a $5 copay. The pharmacist told me that he would be able to get the medicine, BUT that it would cost me hundreds of dollars! This doesn't make any sense when it's a very low co-pay for me at any other pharmacy. He could not actually explain why the medicine was not covered at the regular $5 co-pay at Madison. All he kept saying is that the medication is expensive. Yes - it's expensive when you don't have insurance. But I have insurance and the medication is covered under it. This is quite alarming to me. I confirmed with my insurance company that I should be able to pick up the medication at Madison for $5. They confirmed this and even called the pharmacist to try to understand why they were quoting me hundreds of dollars. We thought maybe there was something that we were not understanding. When my insurance representative got back on the phone with me, he said that the pharmacist was claiming that he now suddenly could not get the medication (after he told me minutes before that he could). My insurance representative also said that the pharmacist seemed bothered and annoyed by the call, and tried to rush him off the phone - and also would not explain to him why their pricing was hundreds of dollars when it should've been meeting the insurance co-pay of $5. Something seems incredibly shady. For this reason, if you're able to get your prescription covered, I'm sure you'll enjoy the benefits that everybody talks about at this local pharmacy. But if you encounter something like what I encountered - beware. And call your prescription insurance company for cost verification before desperately handing over hundreds of dollars you don't have to. I hate to wonder, but In my opinion, it almost seems as though Madison was trying to price gauge (knowing the medication was unable to be obtained at my regular pharmacy) for their own benefit. Once they realized I was not willing to pay that ridiculous price, their tone suddenly changed, and then the medicine was suddenly no longer available to them. Something doesn't add up. I should add - in the past, I have had this same prescription filled at Madison a few times and never encountered this problem. And my insurance has not changed.

This business has been in New Haven for several months, and I am so glad that I found them!…read more Victor, the Pharmacy Manager, is completely focused on creating a positive customer experience. In speaking with him, he has told me, on several occasions, that they want to be the local neighborhood pharmacy. Their business model embraces the old practices of being concerned about the customer's well-being, accommodating the customer's needs, even when it requires some extra effort, delivering to the customer's home, filling prescriptions for pets, etc. You are even offered coffee or water when you arrive! I was there for a vaccination, but I will definitely be transferring my prescriptions over. I will return to get the remaining vaccinations that I have been avoiding. The personal touch is such a stark contrast to the assembly line approach that I have encountered when using the big chain pharmacies. True-Care is also able to meet their competitors' prices. I highly recommend this pharmacy!

Also, not familiar with pharmacies that don't call ahead and get authorization for insurance, but it needed to paid up front and we were told "you'll get a receipt, you can see if your insurance company will reimburse you for it". Maybe it's just for compound solutions but my mother has had these infusions before with another doctor before and his office took care of everything, she didn't need to do anything but show up for the appointment. If the guy on the phone was little more pleasant and not so rude and condescending it wouldn't have been a 1-star review, but if he's unable to clearly convey what needs to be said to avoid misunderstandings then he should look for another line of work.

I interviewed Sai for a local newspaper on the opening of his pharmacy in Ansonia. At the time, he told me that he came to Ansonia because most pharmacies didn't deliver medication, so they wanted to "pick up prescriptions and deliver them too". Sai seemed to be sincere in his desire to help his community. At the time. I was a regular CVS customer, but soon the long lines, long wait times, and rude service wore me down. Not all staff, nor pharmacists at CVS were bad, but the overall experience of getting medication at CVS was too stressful. I remembered Sai and Handcock Pharmacy and transferred my insurance and prescriptions to Hancock. What an amazing change. No long lines, no attitude, and true to his word, if you cannot pick up your meds, Hancock Pharmacy in Ansonia will deliver. I have developed serious health issues, and Sai and his staff have been available to answer questions, fill prescriptions, and deliver medication when I cannot leave my home. They have always been kind, respectful, and courteous. They may not have CVS' sales, coupons, or their after-holiday candy sales, but they get a thumbs up for a great pharmacy in Ansonia

This is one of the worst pharmacies I have ever used. Additionally, several of the delivery drivers are just plain rude. As soon as I find a local pharmacy that delivers, I am dumping these first class fools.
