Bad customer service. First time going to this CVS. My doctor called me to let me know that they placed an order for my medication for 3 months since it's what my new insurance requires. The lady handed me my medication and gave me a total to pay, I told her I have an insurance card and she told me that if I wanted to use my insurance, that I would have to step aside so she can take care of the other customers or I can just pay... I said, "Wait... you want me to pay out of pocket when I have insurance"..... she then turned to the doctor and asked if I would get reimbursed if I paid with my money... I just didn't understand her logic.. this doesn't make sense! The doctor then said he would take care of it, only to place my medication to the side, and I waited. Another lady came over and asked what I was waiting for, and I told her that im here to pick up my medication and I wanted to add my insurance into the system... she grabbed the bag and gave me a total right away. I said again, "I want to use my insurance!" She replied and kept urging me to come over and look at her screen as it doesn't say for 3 month, so they won't enter my insurance. I waited on the side again, so upset, annoyed, and embarrassed. I have NEVER been treated like this before. I ended up leaving without my medication. How can CVS Pharmacy treat people like they are so beneath them that would make people walk away. I really needed my medication and called my doctors office crying hysterically. The lady who told me to pay without insurance or wait on the side told people she was only there to help since she works the front and should be ashamed. Would you want someone telling your mother or daughter to pay for their medication and not insurance since they don't have time! No customer service! I really need my medication, and it hurts knowing other people who need their medicine might be walking away, too. read more

I love this new CVS! The store is clean and is always stocked with so many items. Very spacious with high ceiling. The pharmacy is great, and getting my flu shot and COVID shots here were so easy. Worth going here than the other CVS on upper Dixwell. read more

I frequently find myself at different pharmacies, not for medical necessity but beauty aids, sales, and during Covid it was one of the no judgement places I could go. That being said I consider myself a pretty good judge of pharmacy offerings. I have been to this location a couple times. I love this new CVS on lower Dixwell Ave!! It's spacious with great quality products. There is a good variety of healthy snack foods, fun seasonal items, and an impressive health and beauty section. If my husband wasn't waiting in the car I would definitely have stayed longer. It is a lovely addition to our area. You should check it out! read more

I most recent visit to this particular CVS yesterday. I can't recall a time that I have had a adverse experience in any of their locations during the course of my travels; and there's something extraordinary that stands out as it pertains to this particular location in Hamden. Yesterday's visit was no exception. The entire atmosphere, ambience ( if you will) is warm, inviting, clean , professional and inviting. During my shopping I was left to explore the layout while easily located the items that I needed. They now have self-checkout stations. Upon approaching the line for one of these stations I was offered a choice to be assisted directly by one of their employees for check out - Robert. I declined this offer initially by Robert , yet later required his assistance during the transaction. Robert graciously went above and beyond in assisted me in what could have easily been a very frustrating experience. Thus, I ending up closing out this visit in a positive more enriched state of being, as it should be whenever we enter, abide and depart any atmosphere regardless of the duration! I was told that I could do a walk in for a COVID shot but I had to make sure that I had some Pfizer shots before I got a Moderna shot. I came back the next day and the manager? was not into customer service. He did not explain himself, just kept looking at the computer, and finally blew me off with a phone number. He very vaguely asked if a manager said that I could do a walk in. I called the phone number and came in the next day. After the manager? gave me my shot, I had to prompt him to write on my card that I got the shot. Major lack of communication. I'm giving this CVS three stars because all of the other employees are efficient and helpful. read more
