HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE at the front counter for the general store. Went in this evening around 7:30pm. Was purchasing several large cereal boxes and an electric razor. The cashier, Eddie, was extremely ARROGANT AND HARSH. He charged me for 2 bags, which was fine because I was using EBT for the purchase, so it would come off and it did, and then he charged for 2 more bags because the other 2 bags came off for the EBT. That means he manually charged me for a total of 4 bags. When I brought this to his attention, he said that since I was also purchasing an electric razor which is not a food item, he was completely justified in charging for the bag charges, even though I was purchasing 2 large boxes of cereal. I told him to cancel my whole order, as I was completely frustrated with him at this point, and he did not even inform me he was charging me for additional bags. To make matters worse, the assistant manager-Jeff was standing there and did not intervene in what was clearly a very bad customer service experience. I was so frustrated, I called the store back when I got home, and Jeff was very apathetic to me. I told him that I was extremely upset about what had just happened and also that he did not intervene, as Jeff has seen me there a few times and knows me as a regular customer there. Jeff did not want to take any proactive actions as part of the managerial staff there, and instead told me to call back in 2 days and speak with the store manager, David. This is actually the 2nd time I have had a horrible customer experience with Eddie. 2 months ago I purchased some food items and a battery for my smoke detector. Eddie charged me twice for the one single smoke detector I was purchasing. It was an ordeal to have him fix his error, as he insisted he had made no mistake at all. Then when he finally took off the extra charge, he was extremely ARROGANT AND HARSH, and made no apology for his mistakes and HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. read more

Over the past few years, the customer service has changed. I am always targeted and watched as if I am a thief. From the pharmacy staff(not the pharmacist) to the people at the front. They make purchasing here a bad experience. I will need to switch my pharmacy moving forward. read more

I've read some of the previous reviews and was really surprised and completely disagree. This Rite Aid has been in my wheelhouse for over 13 years and my main go to for over six years. That's long enough to get a good picture of their overall professionalism, work ethic, ability to multitask, keep store clean and stocked, more recently - they quickly 100% met Covid protocols, ... you get the picture. This store has never been a disappointment?! Some at the pharmacy have come to know me, ask about my family while the younger crew does not. Yet all provide friendly, accurate, patient service all the time. The store has an amazing selection and well stocked so you can honestly get grocery essentials, pick up a gift and wrapping, any OTC meds, RXs, and let's not forget the delicious ice cream - in one trip! I have been to the Pharmacy department 3 time in the last 6 weeks. I went once in the am and twice in the afternoon. The assistant in the Pharmacy Department drop-off is really an unhappy person. Each time she never smiled or greeted me. It was more of "next". This person wasn't having a bad day since I have interacted with her 3 times in 6 weeks. AM or PM doesn't matter. She is just cranky all the time. If she is so unhappy at her job, perhaps she should think about getting a new one. I have been using this Rite Aid Pharmacy for years. All other assistants at the Pharmacy drop off have been pleasant and caring. Not this one. Hopefully the Pharmacist will encourage this assistant to smile and be friendly or find a new job ..... This is my local drug store where I come and get many items from drugs to ice cream, greeting cards, and last minute items. The staff are really customer oriented whenever I have come in. You never have to wait more than 5 minutes if there is a line (they will call some one up to the next cash register). The interior is always neat and clean, shelfs are always stocked and neat. Prices can be higher than going to places like Costco, but it's a matter of convenience. It's just not worth the drive or wait in long lines. Plus, Rite-Aid has some of the best ice cream selection, and at reasonable prices. I'm okay with coming here just to look around too. Happy Ice Cream Eating and Fight On! read more

UPDATE 8-17-22: Had to come here again for my boyfriend's prescriptions. Waited in line behind 5 people, for about 10 minutes, before another guy shouted about there being a line. Another woman (not any I've seen before) came out and said "oh, is there a line?" He said "yeah actually there's 7 of us." Seriously? Then I get to the front and the tall woman from last time literally let's some random woman PHYSICALLY GET IN FRONT OF ME and then start talking to her in another language. Tall woman didn't tell her anything and I told the lady "excuse you, there's a line." She yelled at me about how she was on the side and needed to talk to the pharmacist. I told her I didn't give a shit, so there's that. Tall woman didn't greet me or anything just said "birthday" and I told her. She didn't look at me or anything. I'm not surprised but still, if you hate your job then get out of it. ---------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Been coming here for over two years and while the store is just an average convenient store, the pharmacy is awful. I have to refill the same medications once a month and they're never ready on time. I call ahead and either get put on hold for so long they hang up, or they give me the wrong information on the phone. More often than not they just put me on hold for a few minutes and then hang up on me. I came in a few days ago to get my boyfriends prescription filled and they told me it'd be ready in 2 days. I call today and they do the hold/hang up thing so I just decide to show up. He's filled medication here before and has up to date insurance in their system, but the tall pharmacist tells us his insurance doesn't cover it. Well, that's not possible because it's been filled here under his insurance before. I ask them what insurance is on his file? They give us a name we've never heard of before. Is this not some kind of HIPAA violation? Who else's medical information is being switched up in their system? What if I ended up paying all this money for a medication that I didn't need to, because they somewhere down the line updated his information without confirming it with him? Would I have been reimbursed? Doubt it. After clearing that up she told us the price and said to have a seat and we'd be called. We waited 20 minutes. I ask her how long? And tell her we have things to do, I can come back later. She didn't even look at me and said "just a second" and then turned around to restock a shelf. I checked to see if the shorter pharmacist was working on the order, she wasn't. I asked her again, like 10 minutes? She didn't look at me, just "give me a second." At this point I'm running late so I tell her I'm going to come back later. Again, doesn't look at me or answer me. I said it louder and turned around and walked away, and she yelled out "I'm bagging it right now!" Well that would've been nice to know when I asked you not even five minutes ago to give me a time frame, or 30 seconds ago when I told you I was running late and needed to leave? I understand when you're in a job you can have a lot of tasks to do at once, I do. What I don't understand is the pure nonchalance and lackadaisical approach to dismissing your customers and their sense of urgency. Also, another guy asked the pharmacist if she knew of any other medications like (medication name). She said "I don't know you should ask your doctor." Just in general not helpful at all. read more

Worst customer service at the pharmacy they never answer the phone all they say is please hold on and they keep on hold for at least 15 min. there's always a huge line and one person to help if you're picking up a medication you have to wait at least 30 minutes to get help today 4 people walked away after waiting over 30 minutes and sure enough no one cares. As for the pictures I just posted, I did not know the one w/ my face would be the first to view. To be the "face" of Rite-Aid is just too much responsibility! Lol. Is this going to be a problem??? I hope not. O_O'') Anywhoo! So, the last time I went with a friend, either the guy serving us was new, or he was just super generous. Okay, I'm used to double scoops looking barely visible above the top of a cake cone. Now this time, our double scoop literally looked like a quadruple scoop! I wasn't expecting so much ice cream, but hey! For only 1.79 for a double scoop on a cone, a girl can't complain! The only bad part to this story is that my friend, who I dragged over for one my always ice cream runs, was on a specific diet and uttered these horrid words no ice cream conoissuer should ever say: "Omg, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but this is too much ice cream for me!" Let's be real. We're all here because of their Thrifty Ice Cream. Award-winning ice cream that you can guiltlessly buy to take home to your freezer? Of course! I personally love their Pecan Praline and Cherry Chip flavors. I try not to get flavors that I could get anywhere else, and I especially love the Pecan Praline because I'm a butter-pecan lover but this flavor also has strings of caramel running through it with pecans. I also love the Cherry Chip because it is reminiscent of a normal chocolate-chip, except that it has fresh cherry pieces in it and has a lighter cream flavor! The staff is also always super personable--when you get the good ones--and take their jobs very easily. Thrifty is the way to go. Always. And, better yet, it's SUPER cheap! This is my go to spot where I can get all the miscellaneous items in one spot. Things are organized pretty well so I have an easy time finding items. Staff are usually pretty friendly and they provide great customer service. Waiting time is always minimal and I always love getting the printed receipts that are 3 feet long haha Prices can be a bit higher than Target or Costco but you're paying a little more for the sake of convenience. It's located in a plaza with a large parking lot so you aren't dealing with the crazy Costco/Target people. I haven't used the Pharmacy in awhile so can't speak to that but I'm sure the service is great there too. read more

They are often out of stock on meds and since they never answer when you call to check status, you basically get nowhere. Went to get a Covid shot today. I told the person at the pharmacy counter that's what I wanted. The person said I would need to come back in 30 minutes because their person who does the vaccines is out to lunch. No problem, I return in 45 minutes, fill out the paperwork and go back to the counter. Then I'm told they don't have the Covid vaccine. Just clueless. I need to find a competent pharmacy. read more

As far as drug stores go- Rite Aid is standard. They have a pharmacy and aisles filled with everything from school supplies to liquor; but what I REALLY want to talk about is their Ice Cream. Thrifty Ice Cream is some of the best on the planet, in case you have been living under a rock and do not know this! The scoops are HUGE, the flavors unique (medieval madness is a must-try), and for a total of 3 bucks for two scoops- you CAN'T go wrong with this absolutely perfect ice cream. This specific Rite Aid itself is pretty modern, clean and well-staffed. Everyone has always been cordial and cheery to me whenever I get a hankering for that Thrifty ice cream. It's not as complex or thick as some of the more gourmet ice cream options in Orange County, but it certainly warrants the four stars I am going to give it. read more

Quiet possibly The most awful service I have EVER experienced. I don't think there is a more incompetent staff (with Tala being an exception) than this pharmacy has. They never have your RX ready, they are extremely rude about getting your order ready as well as not even bothering to see if certain prescriptions that they can cover through insurance which they don't even bother checking most of the time. I've had to pay several time out of pocket to find out later the insurance would have covered if they actually bothered to check!!!Unfortunately, most people who get their RX filled there are newer to the country, being mostly foreigners or elderly folks who live within walking distance and can't go anywhere else, so they tolerate the nonsense they have to put up with and may not be aware that this attitude is UNEXCEPTIONABLE!! I will reporting this Pharmacy. I just checked and it turns out the business rating of this place is 1.45 out of 5 in BBB as well as 3 stars on Yelp!! The walk-up service at the Pharmacy has gone waaaaaaaaay down in terms of customer service. I've no complaint about the actual pharmacists but the staff .......Especially the tall foreign sounding woman ..........will always make you wait while they do their non-customer related tasks instead of stopping what they are doing when the customer is waiting and picking up their other tasks again once the line goes down again. Yesterday I must have stood waiting for 20 min because this woman thought it was more important to load prescriptions into the system while the line grew and grew. read more

This is my pharmacy of choice in the Irvine area. All the pharmacists and technicians are super nice and friendly. They always do a great job of explaining all my medications to me. They just recently did a renovation and the interior of this Rite Aid looks amazing! I love checking out their Nail Bar for new nail colors and walking up and down the aisles to check out what they have. And of course, Thrifty's ice cream is always a must when I'm here! read more

goofy cashier refused to sell a lighter because he claimed it was an "age restricted item". i told him to search california law and even showed that lighters aren't age restricted, but he refused. i told him i've purchased lighters from stores like target before with no issue, and he claimed that every cashier who sold me a lighter under 21 had broken the law. bro does NOT know the law . keep in mind, i had actually just turned 21 the day prior. i gave my id, which he didn't accept because it was "one-day expired". this wasn't the main issue, but we've now established that the cashier knew i was 21 (which shouldn't even matter) and still refused to sell a lighter. does bro think im an arsonist??? read more

This pharmacy is awful. Made an appointment here for my COVID vaccines since it's across the street from my home. When I came in for my first shot, they have no signs and no one to give direction for where you start. Waited in one line, only to be told they wouldn't help at that counter, I had to wait again at the next counter. They told me I had to go online and book my next appointment, which was false, it was automatically assigned. The wait time was very long, because they're trying to fill prescriptions at the same time. Then they didn't even have me wait the recommended 15 mins after, they told me to just go. I just came back for my second shot, and there was no one ahead of me. I had to wait 45 mins past my appointment time to be seen. No one else was coming in/out for vaccines, they said they were too busy filling prescriptions to be able to see me. What's the point of having an appointment if I'm just going to be ignored?? They really needed a dedicated vaccine staff. read more

So my doctor told me my sons Rx could not be filled at cvs and suggested Rite Aid on culver...a week and a half later I've received no calls about it being ready so I call in Friday but the phone message Sends me in a loop and nobody answers. Cvs clerk answers and says oh they're busy you might be on hold for a while, next day I call 30 min after they open same thing- they don't pick up. After four tries I decide to go in, 15 min away ...get there and the clerk says the insurance needs a pre auth, well great it would have been nice if someone answered the phone and told me this instead of wasting 30 min back and forth to be told this. Obviously this is on the pharmacy manager, do your job! Moving the Rx elsewhere-they should go out of business for providing the bare minimum. read more

I decided to get my prescription filled here and I moved it over to a new spot after a couple of months. The pharmacy consistently has a line which steadily increases as you wait and if there's any hiccups with your prescription, you're headed to the back of the line. You can see the stress the folks behind the counter have to endure and are rushing customers to get to the next person. An older lady in front of me asked the pharmacist the dosage she should take and he had the nerve to tell her that it comes with instructions! If you're in a hurry I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're grabbing items from the front aisles. The only redeeming factor is they take goodRX coupons which saved me almost $30!!!! read more

Wow! I'm impressed! The last time I went to RiteAid was probably in 2012 in Los Angeles, and it was a bit dodgy and rundown. This location in Irvine is a complete change! It's clean, well lit, very organized, and there were some pretty good offers on. I managed to pick up some Ferrero Rocher chocolate for some colleagues (buy one for $5.49, get one free). Sweet! Also some nice holiday stickers and bags and whatnot. I'm not one to usually pop into drug store for things, but highly recommend this store! A better selection and better prices than CVS. read more

I understand if you might be overworked. Busy. Etc but as a patient needing a refill we just want to be understood. I called in for a prescription using teledoc through blue shield as I don't like going in if I don't have to. Especially with COVID back on the loose. Unfortunately the dr didn't fax in the refill. It's Friday. 415 pm. Doubt I'll get him and she refuses to give me enough until Monday. We are talking about medication for hypertension. Not a pain killer or antibiotic. Lord know that raised my blood pressure and now I'm sitting in My car hoping to though to someone before I have to go to urgent care. Back to cvs I go after this. This Rite Aid is located in University Park Center next to the Class 302. At the time I needed a drink since there weren't any good places in the plaza that had refillable drinks other than Carl's Jr, but I found their selection to be lacking in diet drinks and you had to buy the specific quantity on the price tag to receive the discount. I didn't want to drink THAT much. While there were two cashiers, the problem with the line was that EVERYONE paid with cash so it took a long time for them to finish. I only come here because my kids ALWAYS beg for Rite Aid ice cream (note: not every Rite Aid has a Thrifty scoop shop inside). So we make a trip here for maybe, let's see...every 100 or so "Can we get some Rite Aid ice cream pleeeeease?" Trust me, it goes by fast. My kids usually get the birthday cake and rainbow sherbet. I prefer the chocolate malted krunch, mocha almond fudge, and coffee (yeah, I get myself one too). One scoop is only $1.69 (for now, they keep going up) and they give you enough to almost make you lactose intolerant. The price is the same whether you get the original cone, sugar cone, or a cup. Here's a small trivia: Farrell's uses Thrifty ice cream too! This place is open 24 hours, so it's very convenient if you want something late at night (or Ice Cream since Thrifty's is right there!). This location is quite.. modern. It's well organized, clean, and well, as I mentioned before, modern. It actually looks really nice. This is one of my favorite Rite-Aid in terms of interior. Customer service, most of the time, are friendly. I rarely come here in the day. When I do come, I usually come late at night for some above-average priced snacks, or of course. Thriftys. When you go late at night and you want Ice Cream at Thriftys, there's usually only one, sometimes two, employees. Since they're busy taking orders, you may have to wait a bit until you get your ice cream. Sometimes they don't have specific flavors, but most of the time they restock pretty often. I love Thriftys for its price and taste of the ice cream. It's quite yummy! Lots of random, miscellaneous stuff for higher-than-normal price. But, if you're desperate for a drink, a snack, or random supplies, at 2 in the morning, feel free to come. Parking's easy, and you'll be semi-satisfied! read more

I love Mint Chip, Chocolate Malted Crunch, and Rocky Road ice cream. Today, me and two friends stopped up afters ouor morning surfing class. I craved ice cream, and those two are out of towners moving into the black hole that is Irvine. So sad. The ice cream tub was upside down, but the nice lady flipped it over and worked it out for us so we could eat up. I don't buy anything else from there. What's the point. I just love the ice cream. So, this is actually just a Thrifty's review LOL. The ice-cream at this spot is always good and I have never found this store out of stock of any flavor over the past 5 years! A review for the pharmacy. I called in ahead to see if they had the prescribed medicine I needed in stock. Luckily, they did and told me it would take 15 to 20 minutes to get it prepared after I come in. Everything was as they said. It was a quick service and I had no hassle of getting there too. The lady working at the pharmacy that answer the phone tonight was very rude and not helpful at all and just gave sass to my girlfriend the entire time. When I called to transfer that prescription over to a different location way before it was ready and in a very rude way she said they have to take it off the shelf so the other location could put it on the shelf when my girlfriend repeated the question and asked if they had to take it off the shelf or the other location she responded in such rude way saying yes that's what I said! I promise you there's only one nice person that works there and sometimes I'm lucky to have her answer the phone instead of the other two that are just pure rude and need to learn how to speak to people the right way and not say something with so much sass read more

Terrible pharmacy. Pharm Tech at front tried to charge me $70.00 for a Rx and said I don't know maybe it's your deductible. I said I pay $15 copay then she said it doesn't matter what your card says... I asked her to look it up in the system "oh ya it's $15" after arguing with me. Then the pharmacist gave me a generic when I said the doctor didn't prescribe that - I wasn't asked if generic is ok. So now after two days the generic drug isn't working. the process starts all over! today's Rite Aid Pharmacist said insurance won't pay because you still have medicine not finished. Rite aid only does generic that's it. This is the closest pharmacy but I won't go back. Pretty store but that's all. Deceptive. read more
