I must say I was super impressed with the service and quality of food here. One of the best Italian places I tried and this place definitely comes off as a legit Italian spot - true to its core. Tried a number of desserts including gelato, tiramisu and I believe Pandoro. For starters I took Burrata and it was light, delicious and refreshing. Very good job. The second best Burrata (I am biased towards Spark Pizza's Redmond). For the main I went with Raviolini Fonduta and it was super Creamy and rich. Definitely stands as one of best Veg Italian recipes that I have tried. The service is excellent, the ambience is amazing - this place deserves a 5 start. We came in this evening with my husband after dinner at a restaurant. We weren't hungry -we just wanted to have some coffee and enjoy a dessert each. We were welcomed by a very pleasant and attentive young woman who immediately offered us a table and recommended some special desserts. The service was also good- the servers were attentive and trying their best to take our orders despite the business of the restaurant! I also really enjoyed the food! I got the NY steak as my entree, and the arancini as my appetizer, and both dishes were cooked deliciously! I loved the flavor in both, though I must say the arancini had an amazing crisp as well as a tasteful, creamy sauce. I asked for the steak to be medium well, and they delivered! The steak was cooked and seasoned well, the potatoes were tasty and crispy, and the green beans were delicious as well. This place is absolutely stunning with the interior! The ambience is pretty nice and the decorations are beautiful. I loved the blue walls and candlelight. I ordered an Italiano and a NY steak. The Italiano was perfect for me as someone who prefers drinks on the sweeter side. It had the slight bitterness from the tequila, but it was pretty good. The medium rare NY steak was soft, juicy, and chewy. The potatoes were well seasoned and the green beans added the balance to the entire entree. It was a small portion of food for me, so I would suggest ordering an appetizer as well if needed. It was a busy Friday night, so it did take a while for our server to tend to us, but she was friendly and helpful. There are restrooms in the back which were pretty clean. read more

This spot is great as a date night or for elevated celebrations. Service is excellent and attentive, and the ambiance is so cute with low lighting, and stylish interior. The food is also good, pretty much everything we ordered was tasty and well portioned for the entrees. The appetizers are also tasty, but less bang for your buck when you're talking about size to cost. We went as a group and the tuna tartar was the best item we got as an appetizer. This is my second time at the restaurant and the halibut and New York steak are both perfectly cooked, tender, and savory. Cocktails are also good but personally I would skip on the desserts. A wonderful restaurant with an excellent menu for food, cocktails, and wine. Their berry sorbet is amazing! Additionally, I love their attentive staff. Greatest perk of this restaurant is there is plenty of window seating and outdoor seating which is a nice perk in the city. If it wasn't for the food, the rating would be 1 star. I walked into the restaurant with a reservation. They took another 10 minutes to get the table ready, which was fine. We were seated and our orders were taken quickly. The appetizers came within 10 minutes, but then we sat. And sat and sat. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen and no one else seemed to be paying attention to us. An hour after we had arrived, my daughter started crying because she was so hungry. I grabbed someone and asked for some bread. That bread didn't arrive until after our main dishes did, another 15 min later. After we finished eating, our waiter was again MIA. It took us 15 min to get the bill and then no one came to take it! I finally just thrust it in the hands of a passing server who hadn't given us a second glance. Finally our server showed up again and apologized for having abandoned us. He offered us tiramisu on the house. OK sure I said. And guess what... 10 min go by and nothing. We'd had enough and just left. The food tasted good. But the service was so bad that that is the memory we have of the place. It was incredibly disappointing. Also, wow was it loud. I definitely had to yell to be heard, and I couldn't speak to anyone who wasn't directly next to me. read more

Others enjoyed their dishes as well. My rye cocktail (forgot the name) was very nice as well. Service was friendly and their recommendations proved worthy. It was a busy Saturday night but we felt well cared for. They included a service charge on the bill - so be aware when tipping! Normally I don't write reviews of Yelp, but we had such a positive experience I had to do so. A large group of us (14) booked the semi-private area at the back for a private dinner. We had a great night - the staff were unbelievably attentive (shout out to Mica!), the food was great and the ambience was awesome. I attended an event at Ristobar this past Friday evening, and I had a great experience from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere strikes a balance between warm neighborhood spot and elevated dining experience (inviting, stylish, a lively buzz). It set the tone for the night. Because this was a hosted event, I expected the food to be good... but it was even better than I had hoped; beautifully prepared and flavorful. The lamb ragu pasta was a standout, perfectly al dente with rich, balanced sauce. The arancini disappeared quickly at our table. The staff deserves a special shout-out. Despite the restaurant being packed for the event, the team was attentive. Everyone was welcoming and genuinely kind. It made the whole experience feel even better. Ristobar SF is a neighborhood go-to spot in the Marina. During the day, it's a great sidewalk dining experience. At night, it's an elegant venue with both a full length bar and ample dining area. Food was amazing and hospitality was excellent. Never had to worry about the waiter checking in periodically to see if we needed anything. There are plenty of options to dine along Chestnut Street. Ristobar is a hidden gem with both a diverse selection of Italian, Seafood and other Entrees to have something to offer for everyone. Will be back soon! read more

The ambiance here was really nice and the food itself was okay, nothing bad, just not super memorable. What threw us off was something that happened toward the end of our meal. A server (not our actual server) came over to chat and kindly offered me and my three friends a slice of panettone bread. He specifically asked if each of us wanted a slice, so we assumed it was a small complimentary treat. We were grateful... until the check came and we realized we were charged $12 per slice totaling $48. It was frustrating because it was offered without any mention of a charge, and had we known we probably would've just ordered two slices to share. Moral of the story: if something is offered, double check the price. It definitely left a sour note on an otherwise decent experience. read more

Don't come at me, but I really did not like this place. I think I would've had a much better experience if the sommelier wasn't in my personal space. he was talking to the marina bros next to us, and his back was up against our table and his elbows nearly kept touching the food. I was so irritated with that behavior, and I just moved to the table next to me because I really didn't want someone's elbow touching my food. when it comes to fried food, I always love a good batter and something extra extra crispy. There was not enough sauce for all the food on this dish and I had to add a lot of lemon juice to make it taste like something. If they added more herbs or something to give it more flavor, I would've enjoyed the dish a lot more. I also don't think they fried it very well because things got soggy very quickly. Now let's talk about the carbonara. I had one bite and I was like whoa this is hella salty. So then I ended up mixing it cause I was like oh maybe the cheese that was hella salty or something in this dish, but no it was a whole dish. I kept taking a few bites so I could figure out exactly what it was. I couldn't figure it out, and I hated this dish more and more as I try to figure out what was the salty part of this dish. I want nothing to do with this dish and wanted it out of my sight. The staff came back and told us that they ended up trying the dish and said the cheese was what was making it "salty" and it's just the taste of the cheese -it's not actually salt. we were told it was gonna get taken off the bill but in the end it wasn't taken off. They tried to offer dessert since they couldn't take it off the bill, but I just wanted to get out of this place. Honestly, I was so done. I don't care to pay for the dish, but don't tell me one thing then not follow through. I think the pizza was the only thing I enjoyed partially . I love having sauce on my pizza so that was my favorite part but there was not a lot of basil and I think if you combined all the basil pieces together, it probably made one leaf. Food is amazing, I had the fried Calamari for appetizer and Gnocchi (same set up on their menu with fettuccine substituted without Roma tomatoes). The Pasta is amazing and Scotti and the staff were very attentive. All pasta is made by the owners' company and test and texture is out of this world. Real authentic Italian food, not the American style but real Italian style and quality. If you want lots of food for cheap, go somewhere else. If you want reasonable portions and prefer quality over quantity, this is the place to eat. Otherwise there's lot more places one can eat for less and get bigger portions. I had been walking by and, realizing I was hungry, decided to check the place out for the first time ever. I was dressed for running errands, carrying an oversized Trader Joe's canvas bag instead of a purse, and it was a half hour before dinner service was to begin, but instead of dismissing me as the old unkempt gray-haired lady arriving inconveniently early, the host asked the kitchen if they could serve me (out of his own initiative, without me requesting it!) and, once he had their ok, he offered me my choice of table--which was another pleasant surprise, as places like this generally like to relegate solo diners to a barstool so as to leave their two-tops open for duos. I felt this level of care bode well for the dining experience, and I was right. The host (who acted as my server, as it was before-hours), when I was trying to select between two entrees, provided such a lovely description of the distinctions between them that it made my decision easy. The food was dreamy, an absolute gustatory delight: best pear-and-prosciutto salad I have ever had, and the agnolotti del plin were chef's kiss. I left with a song in my belly, and cheer in my heart.
