First, you walk in and you're introduced to a small, charming, and warm space that looks straight out of a children's fairytale. Don't forget to grab a little surprise card (child friendly and adult friendly) either before you sit down or on your way out. Cute conversation starters and reflection inspiration! My objective of the night was dessert, so I didn't even bother to look at the savory souffles. While waiting for our server, my eyes were captivated by the twinkling lights around me (in the indoor space) and the sight and sounds of the chefs whisking away the souffles before they went in the oven. I was expecting Ratatouille's Remy to pop out. Anyway, as we gazed through the dessert menu, we thought we were enlightened already, but it only got better -- the specials: Strawberry and Pistachio. Frito. Chili. Pie. Soufflé. Any restaurant that can make a soufflé with the perfect mouth feel of a soufflé and all of the perfect flavor of a Frito chili pie is likely practicing some arcane magic. Given that, I think you have to rate them five stars or try to rate them six. The spot is lovely. On my visit, the restaurant was full and there were perhaps three males in the restaurant. Which is unfortunate, because the food is absolutely amazing and half of the population doesn't know that. Or at least they didn't know it when I was there. And in case the message at the top of the review wasn't enough: Frito chili pie soufflé. Good God. Service was extraordinary, and our server was familiar with a great number of the wines on their wine list. She offered pleasant and unassuming help, made sure that we were paste appropriately for a very leisurely lunch, and kept our water glasses full. The water glasses are recycled, wine bottles. Rise has been one of my favorite restaurants here in Dallas for over a decade! This location I believe is the original and is, in my opinion, the best! I have dined at Rise for many birthdays, including this years once again. Last week, my mom and I visited for lunch to celebrate my 27th birthday. I called ahead to make a reservation and they were able to accommodate us two and even asked about who was celebrating their birthday. I gave them my name and requested to be sat on the inclosed patio, which was accommodated. When we walked in, the hostesses knew of our reservation and we were led to our table. The table had a sweet birthday sign with my name on it, such a kind and personal touch!! If you are celebrating a birthday here, it is definitely worth calling ahead and letting them know. For our meal, we both enjoyed the complimentary bread and butter. I especially loved the presentation and the fun bread cutter. For our entrees, I ordered the Large Rise Salad and my mom ordered the Jambon & Gruyère soufflé. I added chicken to the Rise Salad, which was a perfect addition to the baby greens, roasted pecans, and granny smith apples. Our waiter told us the Jambon & Gruyère soufflé was the most popular savory soufflé and I definitely can understand why. The ham and cheese was not too much or too little, and the texture of the soufflé was perfect as always. Lastly, for dessert, we shared the Banana Foster Soufflé. I believe this is a seasonal dessert soufflé for September and/or fall. It was excellent! It was served with powdered sugar on top and a birthday candle to celebrate! Such a nice touch! In conclusion, Rise has always stood out in the Dallas restaurant landscape and always delivers every time. The soufflés are thoughtfully made and the texture is always the same - fluffy, light and never lacking flavor. I have never tried a soufflé I didn't love! A couple things to note if you're looking to visit: Make sure you call to make a reservation ahead of time and definitely mention any special birthday or occasion because they will make it worth your while. The soufflés take a while to bake, so it is also worth putting in your dessert order when you order your entrees so you're not waiting too long after. I got the prix fixe (3 course meal) with marshmallow soup, jambon and gruyere souffle, and raspberry souffle (shown). Be careful the souffle is hot! Extremely rude staff. We came in with friends who had a dog with them. They sat us there and had no problem serving us dinner and allowing the dog. Once we got up to leave, my kids wanted to take a look at the table near entrance, the host ran towards them acting all weird and clearly not wanting kids to be near anything there. They just looked at the table, did not touch anything. It's just a table. Then he started YELLING at my friend that they HAD TO LEAVE AND THEY DO NOT ALLOW DOGS. Multiple levels of staff give it a true European service oriented 5 star restaurant feel. Then there is the decor, tables, chairs, plates, and other items that continue that old European ambiance. From the moment you enter the breezeway of the restaurant to entering the doors you have been teleported to the countryside of France. The decor is amazing the is a warm and charm there. The way the room was sectioned off it felt as though you had some privacy and you can definitely hold a conversation. But friend spoke French and so did our waiter, which made the experience so much fun. I felt so relaxed there. My friend had the Salmon Slouffle and I had the cream spinach and it was wonderful. What a unique French restaurant in Dallas! This was my first time having savory souffles and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I visited with a pretty big party of 7 people a while back, and we opted to order a bunch of different souffles to share (savory & sweet). This turned out to be a great choice because it was so fun getting to sample a wide variety of flavors! Not only did we order a few from the menu, but we also got their seasonal souffles which aren't on the menu. My favorites would have to be the crabmeat souffle, truffle mushroom souffle (you would love this if you're a fan of truffle), and pistachio souffle. Not only was the food phenomenal, but the service was great as well! We started as just a party of 4 before a few more people joined later on, and the staff were very kind in letting us move to a larger table to accommodate everyone. Rise No1 came up on a Google search of restaurants near me. I was very intrigued by the savory soufflés, so I made it a point to try the restaurant during my recent trip to Dallas. I dropped by around 11:15am on a Wednesday. The place already had a few parties seated, but they were able to accommodate my walk-in and placed me at their counter. What a fun little restaurant! Best way I could describe the place was that it had rustic charm but also felt like being in a whimsical fairtyale. If I remember correctly, I read that the owner likes to collect antiques, which attributes to its quirk and character. You just have to see the restaurant for yourself. Service had hits and misses. Appreciated how quickly the food came out. As soon as I placed my order, I immediately got my appetizer and bread service. My soufflé came out shortly after. My server was friendly, but she was hardly attentive or observant. That being said, other wait staff members didn't offer to clear my plate when I was clearly finished. It took a while until my server finally came by to grab my check. The food was excellent though. I ordered the Marshmallow soup as my starter. I mean, how could I not? It sounded really interesting. To my surprise, the dish was a tomato based soup with puffy "marshmallows." My brain wanted to compute that the marshmallows were sweet, but they ended up being light, airy, and eggy - basically marshmallow shaped balls of soufflés. I ordered the truffle mushroom soufflé, which was lovely. I thought it was very flavorful and probably the best soufflé I've ever had. It was a joy trying Rise Soufflé. This was my first experience trying a soufflé, and I was not disappointed. The soufflés here are so delicate and light. They are really lovely to admire before you start eating. During my visit, I chose a savory option. I had the southwest chicken which had a really great flavor. I also got a hot chocolate. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the hot chocolate. It lacked the creamy rich taste I normally enjoy with hot chocolate, so I would probably avoid trying that. My one regret is I didn't try any of the sweet soufflés, but I was stuffed from the savory option I got. Their menu had a nice selection of fruit and chocolate soufflés. My friend who was with me tried the chocolate soufflé, and she seemed to really enjoy it. I loved the set up of the restaurant, and it felt very festive for the holiday which was pro. Service! We had an excellent first time at rise with incredible service! Our server gave us an entire run down of the menu and what to expect. I felt very prepared on what to order by the time she finished. Countless restaurants will give you a menu, leave you alone, and then come back asking if you're ready to order or if you have questions. Rise will give you no choice but to explain the entire menu on your first visit, which is definitely worth it, as they take pride in their menu. Each soufflé is different, and I have never had a savory soufflé, so it was a great experience. I recommend trying one of the seasonal items, as they are rotating and you don't want to miss the chance on an interesting flavor combo. The rest of their menu is also a great variety for everyone. One thing I also liked was that they have wine flights, which complemented the meal well. And a must try is the marshmallow soup. Sounds weird, but there are no marshmallows in it. To be honest, I was feeling under the weather when I visited this place (Gas station tuna sandwich put me down for a whole week!), so I only took 2 bites of the food I ordered ( I packed the seared tuna salad to go and took 2 bites of the soufflé then felt sick immediately due to the smell of eggs. So I didn't take it to go. And now as I'm typing I just realized why did I order tuna again? What's with me and tuna? Lol). BUT I am not blaming this place AT ALL for this. It was the food poisoning. Was a great call. I made the traditional X cut and alternated pours to get a perfect blend of both flavors. However, I was extremely surprised at how light the texture and f the sauces were. Amazing!! That technique match the delicate light soufflé and enhance the overall experience!! Incredible techniques in the cook. They absolutely know what they are doing!!!! We started out with savory - Avocado and Ceviche (summer special), and Southwest Chicken.. both so good! We were a bit skeptical about the Avocado and Ceviche, but it came highly recommended by our server and we thought to try it out.. and I'm so glad that we did!! This place is just absolutely charming. The little "nest" decor was unique. Just overall a special place tucked away. I didn't know what to expect from a soufflé but these things are large and they are savory and absolutely delightful. They are so good going down, and one of them is enough to feed you for two meals. I don't think souffles are for me. We tried several souffles - Southwest Chicken, Crab, Salmon, Berry, and Lemon. I didn't thoroughly enjoy any of them because of the soggy texture. I can appreciate the craft behind making souffles as they are finicky. We also had the 6 oz. Filet and Green Beans as well as the Seared Tuna and thought they were not worth $50. This was a bucket list spot for me, but unfortunately did not live up to the hype. My husband & I came in for date night on the weekend without a reservation, this in my opinion is a win! I love a place that allows both reservations and walk ins! We were sat on the patio which reminded me of my grandmas tea room, but crowded. Our waiter was courteous, but not very customer service oriented as I felt everything was very "check box"-esque. We ended up ordering 2 savory soufflés and 1 sweet. All were plated well but nothing was special enough to come back for in my opinion (my favorite thing was the bread at the beginning). Lastly, I didn't feel that we were checked on near enough compared to a standard restaurant experience.
