The host greeted me immediately and was very friendly, and our server was attentive throughout the meal -- the service was definitely a strong point. I ordered the 16 oz. USDA Prime Certified Angus Ribeye. The steak was tender, but unfortunately pretty bland. There wasn't anything special about the seasoning or the presentation, and for the price, it felt underwhelming. I also had the house‑cut fries, which were missing seasoning as well. While the meal didn't quite justify the cost, the overall experience wasn't bad. The staff made a great impression, and the environment was welcoming. New wife and I planned our wedding around the Fort Worth Stockyards. Initially trying to get hitched at the courthouse (with no help) because of end of 2025/2026 we chose Mule Alley. Yes, Ol' Rooster has tied the knot once again. Married just outside Second Rodeo Brewing we decided some food was in order after the photographer wrapped. Yet, I don't each much dinner. Think maybe once or twice a year. But, appetizer choices led me to Riscky's. I can get down on some Escargot. Yes, snails. Been a long time favorite of mine. Couple of preparation options here. Small mushroom cap with the meat on top. Meat by itself swimming in butter and garlic. Even had them smothered in Thai curry served with charred French bread. Honestly, they were worth the stars awarded. Checking that Yelp box because this steakhouse literally is designed like the set from Blazing Saddles. She had a good time and a few drinks. We went in to the bar and got lucky to get seats at the bar so I ordered a Moscow Alley (mule). It was very good. The bartender was quick and made great drinks. Our table was ready within 20 minutes. It was pretty packed in the dining room but enough room to walk around comfortably if you had to. I ordered the sampler to share which was very good. it came with fried mushrooms, fried pickles, fried corn, potato skins with cheddar and bacon, jalapeño cheese curds, along with sour cream and ranch dressing. Get this sampler, it was so good and fed all 4 of us. For dinner I ordered the 6 oz filet mignon medium with a sweet potato. The steak was very tender and tasty as well as the sugar cinnamon sweet potato. They also brought bread and butter to the table. The bread was a little tough so that was a bummer. Ordered the Texas Twosome which was a great deal! We got the potato skins as our appetizer to share and then I had the fillet with broccoli and cauliflower, and a house salad. The raspberry balsamic on the salad was to die for! The fillet, medium-rare, was perfectly tender but with nice crispy edges. It was so delicious I gobbled down my food before I could really take any photos. Our waitress was amazing! The best of the best. I told her about a slight food allergy and she went above and beyond to make sure the food I ordered was okay for me to eat. The Stockyards is a small district of Fort Worth bursting with intense local color, rather in the way of Beale Street in Memphis. And in among the Western wear shops, the Western furniture shops, and the saloons, are steakhouses. I wound up at this one because it was open, but my was I ever satisfied with my meal. Inside, the furnishings are dark and period appropriate, and the service was considerate and friendly. My ribeye steak was well aged and intensely flavorful without seasoning. Medium rare, as I ordered, and even close to rare in some obscure spots behind the bone. Thoroughly juicy, even in the dry middle, crusty and textured and marbled, just as I like it. Came with two sides. I had rice pilaf, ordinary rice pilaf but good, and creamed corn which had lots of little additions and was fresh corn, and stayed tasty even as it cooled, unlike some of the kind. We have come Riscky's for at least 25 years and have always enjoyed their Brisket sandwiches. Today I picked up the brown bag sandwiches (4 for $5) and was sadly disappointed. The brisket was mushy and lacked flavor. The brown bag sandwiches are not piled high, never have been, but these seemed way less than what we recall. We usually just eat their sandwiches with adding onion only-- no extra BBQ sauce or pickles-- always felt they were best plain, as is. The meat was lacking in flavor so I added BBQ sauce, which also seems to have changed. It was bland but sweet and tasted old. Mt daughter asked for fries. My bad, I assumed a small ($4) would feed 2 and the family ($7) would feed 4. Not even close-- just at a single serving, nothing more. Came in by myself at 4pm and was seated at the bar because "service would probably be faster." It was not but it was shift change time and I was in no hurry. Food was OK with only one side for the steak and $8 for the baked potato now. Last time I was here was 18 months ago I believe and we got the pan steaks for twenty something bucks, the prices have doubled since but they were a deal before. My disappointment was for twice the money the steak was tough and half as good as before. In general, I have a problem with grilled meat that is coated in salt. I don't care for it on a potato and even less on a steak. I want to taste the steak and not salt. Sad state of affairs because this place is historic but things have changed and. O longer worthy of a special trip. The good news is if you come on the weekend dinner shift the restaurant will be well staffed to handle Friday and Saturday night business. The bad news was I came on the early side and staff was standing around talking in twos and fours while I was waiting to get a second beer, a setup, and more water. I wouldn't have noticed the socializing if I wasn't needing help, but the unresponsive service left me with a tarnished feeling for the venue. I won't be coming to Cowtown for a decent steak dinner anymore. I'll just stick with Texas roadhouse and save the train ride from Grapevine. read more

This spot is pure nostalgia for me. A girl never forgets drinking her first beer with dear ol dad. I stop in each time I visit cowtown to enjoy a cold beer and New York strip. I've always been pleased with the Crawfish Mac & Cheese. My last visit on Friday night was as good as ever, with Greg and the gang taking great care of me at the bar. What started as a quick night out turned into one of the wildest dining experiences I've ever had. A good friend was in town from Montana, so we met up for a quick bite in the Stockyards. Our original plan was to eat at Cattlemen's, but they were already closed. Lonesome Dove was also closed, and by that point most places were shutting down, so we ended up at Risky's Steakhouse. When we walked in, the hostess/server let us know it was last call, which was completely fine. We ordered drinks and dinner and settled in. While we were there, we watched the bartender continue serving drinks to other customers for at least another 30 minutes. At one point, Jaymee and Danny politely asked if they could order one more drink. The server said she would check with her manager, then came back and told us he said no. Again, no issue. But immediately after that, the manager came around the corner and escalated the situation in a way I have never experienced before. He was yelling, dropping F-bombs, calling us trash, banning us from the restaurant, and acting aggressively and intimidating toward our group--all because the guys asked for another drink and Jaymee gave a thumbs down in response to being told no. His behavior was so extreme that I started recording for our own protection. He then called the police and made accusations against us that were completely false, including claims that someone had assaulted him. Thankfully, everything was recorded. The officers reviewed the situation, confirmed nothing happened, and told us we had done nothing wrong. They were professional and kind throughout the situation. While all of this was happening, my son had stepped away nearby. After I sent him the video and told him what was going on, he came back saying he saw the same manager outside allegedly trying to get other people involved to confront us on our way to the car. Before he could even fully explain, that same manager showed up outside Cowboy Channel and again appeared to be trying to provoke a fight. Staff and security from Cowboy Channel repeatedly asked him to leave, but he continued trying to lure the guys outside. At that point, I was genuinely scared. My son was there, tensions were high, and I did not feel safe walking back to our car. We ended up calling an Uber to pick us up directly outside Cowboy Channel because we were worried this man might be waiting for us. All of this happened because two people asked if they could order one more drink after being seated shortly before closing. We had not been out drinking beforehand, weren't causing problems, and had simply come down to meet a friend for a quick dinner. What should have been a normal night turned into a stressful and honestly frightening experience. I hope management takes situations like this seriously, because no customer should ever feel unsafe after dining at a restaurant. read more

We were seated immediately by a very sweet person. The waiter was there in minutes taking our drink order. We ended up ordering a dinner for two $99.00. It came with an appetizer we ordered potatoes skins. Which came out cheesy and hot. Also included were two fresh salads. We were in the stockyards on a busy Saturday evening. Tried three steakhouses and all were an hour and a half to two hour wait. Called Riscky's rather than walk across the street since we had struck out at Cattleman's and H3 (?) and called Lonesome Dove. Riscky's said 45 minutes so we walked across the street- literally - and the hostess outside the door said "hour and a half". She then said the people on the phone work the bar and "they don't know". We got on the wait list and were seated at our table in 17 minutes. Who doesn't know? We find this sooo often these days. IDGI. Anyway, the rest of the experience was smooth sailing. Our waiter was efficient, helped with the menu, and was always nearby when needed without being a pest. The place was packed but the food came out rather quickly. While I had already decided this was a typical "tourist trap" I was surprised at the quality of the food. Both the steak and salmon were cooed to perfection and the steak was very tender, and not overly seasoned like so many places are today. Sides were good too. As was the shrimp cocktail, served super old school which I love! Add to all this we felt the prices were very reasonable for the quality and service we received. I'd go back!
