Ate at Riptides for the first time on Thursday night. Baked Potato was cold and hard. My husband ordered a 20 oz Yuengling beer and was charged $10.00. We asked why the beer was so expensive since it was domestic, and the waiter said since you ordered off of this menu, that is the cost for the first beer and after that it is $4.00 for life. So you would have to take a picture of your receipt and always carry it with you if you want to have another beer there for $4.00. I think not! Not ever going back! read more

Our waitress name was William I believe. He was excellent and very observant. We never ran out of drinks and my husband never had to ask for more crab. He was on top of it and was definitely the best waitress we have had our our vacation in Florida. If you visit riptides ask for William. Nice young man. Food was excellent. Recommended by a friend, we stopped here on our way back to our hotel in Daytona Beach after spending the day in St. Augustine. Great Margaritas and crab legs with live music created a nice atmosphere. This place used to be the best around - best food quality, service, and atmosphere....it went down hill quickly and severely - the place wasn't very busy, so I'm not even sure how we fell through the cracks. I'm not one to leave reviews, but this experience needs to be heard. We had a party of 12 first responders from a catastrophe response team that traveled to FL from all over the US to help with the recent catastrophe. Our reservation was made for 7PM - when we arrived our table was not ready, and the hostess was not very friendly. We were given the least experienced server in the place, his words, not mine, and he could not keep up with us to provide decent service. It was terrible for him and us. And mind you, everyone in our party was burned out, straight up exhausted from working hurricane Ian, so it was a very relaxed group, as I'm sure anyone can imagine. First, it took longer than it should to our get drinks, and the beer order was wrong, the server had no idea what beers were what, and sold us a selection that was out of stock, meaning, we have no clue what we were drinking - found this out when I went to the bar to purchase a beer, since it took far to long for our server to bring the 2nd round. Half our table finished their meals, cashed out, and left, before the other half got their food. When PART of the 2nd half of the food did arrive the crab legs were still frozen, one salad (which was packed to go because of the wait) had a rotten avocado, not just over ripe, but rotten, and raw shrimp. At this point several people within our party just canceled their meal. The ones who did eat weren't thrilled, it was said the food was subpar, at best. I get things happen, but when it was brought up how unpleasant our experience was turning out, nothing was done. No manager showed up, no acknowledgement of the problems were taken. When spending around $75-$100/person to dine out, one might expect to receive service that is in line with those prices. Needless to say, I was embarrassed to have a recommended this place, was disheartened to have spent well over $1,000 just to leave and spend more on fast food so we could go back to our campsite with something in our stomachs. The server did his best, it's management that dropped the ball, and it appears it's been going on for sometime...which was pretty apparent seeing as the managers were huddled together by the bar with their arms crossed just staring into space for most of the evening...the establishments employees working other areas of the restaurant were not shocked to hear to how things were going, and said it's pretty normal. I don't think anyone within our party will return, nor would they recommend this place to anyone, it's a shame, as we meet with hundreds of people every week and talk life with them, while working to bring them back to whole after devastation. read more

My boyfriend and I went on a crowded and very noisy Saturday night. We wanted to sit outside but it was windy and they had a live band so we moved inside. We ordered a couple of rum runners and they were so sweet I think they forgot the rum. The glass was cracked but the server didn't seem to care to get me another drink. I ordered shrimp and scallops and for the price, I got 4 shrimp and 4 scallops, huh? My boyfriend ordered a half pound of steamed snow crab and later that night he spent an hour or more in the bathroom, not happy. Too pricey for the food you get, over $120.00 for 2 people and too noisy when you have to yell at one another across the table even being inside. Went here under recommendation from a local. It did NOT disappoint. Wanted to have crab legs but I'm cheap and don't do "market price" but that was fine. Plenty of good food to choose from. Waited two hours for a table. And finally gave up and left. Service at the bar was mediocre at best, downright slow at times, and satisfying to not one of our party of nine. Drinks were decent, but on the pricey side. And the food we ordered at the bar (we were hungry!) was so-so. I'd give them half a star if I could. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS TOURIST TRAP. Riptides are dangerous, but this place was awesome!! We were trying to go to a different place for dinner, but we drove past Riptides and I'm glad we did. I had the NY strip and it was stuffed with a cheese sauce and shrimp. It was quite possibly one of the best steaks I've had on a beach vacation. They had a live band singing covers and it was just a great setting for dinner. The owner stopped by and asked us how everything was and you just don't see that too often anymore. Ate here for first time. Had Rockefeller oysters, stuffed grouper and fried tomatoes. Food was not bad but the stuffed Grouper was $33 I mean a little overpriced for a restaurant like that. And def not worth $33... I would pay that much in a much higher establishement like uncaged at flagler and get a great filet mignon. Dial down your prices Riptides because you arent a 5 star restaurant. Other entress are priced higher as well. Not sure if I would come back. read more

Had a reservation and they had a table ready immediately after our arrival. Staff was friendly and courteous, attentive and not overbearing. Food was excellent, definitely a good value for the price. The food was great and the service even better. I had a glazed Tuna salad. This salad had grilled green and red peppers with onions. With the great greens this addition made a wonderful compliment to the total meal. The Tuna was cooked to perfection. It is cooked to the guests wishes. Since I reserve a 5 star review to very few places a 4 star is , to me, a very good recommendation to try an establishment. This one is worth the stop. read more

Our waiter Pedo was amazing! After a 50min wait. We were escorted to my wind tunnel table. The menus blew away even with 2 phablets and a vaporizer. After trying to eat our appetizers at the worst table in the place, we asked for a table or booth that had wind blocks which there were plenty. The CEE u next tuesday manager refused. This isnt my first bad experience with riptides it will be my last and if anyone at riptides wants to discuss this in person and not keyboard commando style, I'm more then willing. read more

We ate there and maybe it was just our luck but we got very sick afterwards for about 24 hours. Stayed at the place next-door which was pretty bad with cigarette butts all over and rooms that look like they were from 1950 with not much changed. Maybe 1970 if you're lucky. Won't go there again even though I love the ocean, there are other ocean front restaurants now where we would go and we steer clear of this place at all costs. PS the manager is not nice. This place really hit the spot. My husband and I just finished testing for our real estate exam. I just knew that I was close to the beach and I craved some nice raw oysters! So, we saw that this place had good reviews and picked it. I must say that the reviews didn't do it much justice!! We ordered red shrimp appetizer along with the crab cake appetizer; both were very tasty and very fresh. I was happy that the crab cakes had lots of crab meat and also great taste. The red shrimp were nice and thick, perfectly cooked. Then off course, my two dozen raw oysters!! Wow! They were fresh and delicious! Left a great taste in my mouth! Then, the two pounds of crab legs!! Well, if you know anything about crab legs, you'll know that when you crack with both hands right in the middle of the leg and just cracks!... that's fresh! The AYCE snow crab clusters were only so-so. The meat would break off in the legs and the body meat although sweet was mushy. For $34.95 my expectations were a little high and the crab fell short. However, the restaurant is very inviting. The staff are attentive and friendly. The menu looks awesome and I will be back to try other items. My wife had the Mahi Mahi tacos and they were awesome, my daughter had a burger and she liked it. My son and I had the crab. For an appetizer we had their spicy fried shrimp and they were good too. We were really happy with our appetizers, shrimp and also spinach artichoke dip. 3 of us got crab legs which were better then our favorite place Charlie Horse we had a couple of nights before. Baked oysters were a little small, but quality flavors for sure. I got the sampler of all the oysters, but the original flavor was my personal fav. Fun place, great service. We were on vacation At Ormond Beach and took a drive for appetizers and drinks. Aussie was our server he was very helpful since we had never been here before. we were seated on the patio. There was music playing. We ordered calamari, riblets, spring rolls, chicken fingers and 6 raw oysters. Drinks were strawberry sunset, peach n beach, tangerine crush and shock top beer. I was going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I think they deserve a 3.5. Food was good. But I don't think it was worth the price. They try to get you to pay $16-25 for a drink souvenir cup with $11-15 refills.. they just got rid of a bunch of their deserts and said they don't have an updated desert menu yet. Which was inconvenient because I ordered a salad in hopes of ordering the pineapple upside down bread pudding I had seen in the reviews. The reason I stuck with the 4 stars is because everything I had was tasty. My husband had the stuffed strip and it was good. But I did get overcharged for a side item and didn't realize u til parking lot so I let it go. So maybe they do deserve a 3?! read more
