While swimming at Daytona Beach, my friends and I saw a plane go by advertising the all you can eat crab legs. We knew we had to check it out. When we drove there, there was only valet parking available, so as broke college students, we parked a couple of blocks down and walked. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant when we got there; there was a band outside playing living music. Even though we sat inside, the music sounded just like we were sitting outside. However, we thought that the food was just okay. The raw oysters were great, and it was the only dish that I took a picture of; the bisque soup also tasted fantastic. I got the Ahi Tuna Salad. I know I'm not the target consumer for this restaurant, but I thought that the portion size of toppings (in particular wakame, wasabi peas, and vinaigrette) overpowered the actual salad and made it a bit hard to eat. New to the area so I am trying different places near the ocean. Accidentally walked into Riptides while meaning to go to the adjoining sports bar but liked the live music so decided to go with it. Many of the patrons were mowing through mountains of crab legs. I decided on the shrimp and grits. I was pleasantly surprised with a hearty portion of cheesy grits covered by a savory sauce with large shrimp and pieces of Andouille sausage. Best I've had! Give it a try! read more

Fish was under cook and very very salty. Rice was hard as a rock and we did not get great service at all. Thanks a lot for ruining a perfect birthday. We come there every year for my birthday and this year. I am disgusted. I do not recommend a dog eat there. I don't know if it's because your waitresses or your servers are very young, that they could care less about the service that they give because I had to ask for a refill of my drink for the prices of your food. The food should be excellent. I visit there last month and your food was awesome and I recommended all my friends and my relatives to go there. We had lunch here today 7/8/22, our first time here. Wow! Just WOW! Not only did our waitress Michelle take amazing care of us but the food was absolute delish! Raw oysters, sweet plantains with guava jam drizzle, Philly cheesesteak, sunset key pork sandwich with a slaw to die for on top, and the burgers were cooked to perfection! I enjoyed the atmosphere at riptides. I suggest getting the seafood blackened as the Caribbean jerk did not have a lot of flavor to it. Seemed like it needed more spice, salt and less peppers. Im ranking a 2 for several reasons. Although this is a hotspot and good seafood place, the service and wait time was bad. Maybe because it was 4th of July. I had a reservation for 2 which i set up online through their website for 8pm. Then changed it to 7pm. We arrived 10 minutes early. Even though we booked a table for 7pm, there was still a 45 min wait, so we sat at the bar for drinks and i got half dozen oysters. Waited 40 minutes. Then checked on our table. They didnt have us checked in! And we had 2 reservations for 7 and 8pm. So their online system does not update. Doesnt even work for that matter. We were pushed to the front and got a table. Tables are big and wide so you have to talk loud or sit on the same side. I had the mahi with avacado sauce. It was fine. Nothing special. My girlfriend had the ahi, which was very good. So we finally got out of there to watch fireworks. 3am im woken by a stabbing cramp in my stomach. Ran to the bathroom and fluid shot out of me! And the rotten smell made me wanna puke! 4am...again! Then 5am! I had chills and low fever. My girlfriend is a physician, figured it had to be the oysters. She did not eat them. Bacteria called Vibrio is commonly found on raw oysters. I eat oysters all the time and this was THE first time I've been sick. So if anyone reading this beware. It last 4 days! Good thing i only had 6. Could have been alot worse. read more

Although our Uber driver recommended a different restaurant, my family decided to stick with our original choice and we weren't mad about it. Our server, Red, was very friendly and recommended their "secret weapon" spring rolls as a starter so got those and the smoked fish dip. Both appetizers were delicious! The chips with the dip were so crispy I could've eaten those all night. The dip wasn't too fishy but had great flavor and paired perfectly with the side of jalapeños. The spring rolls were so yummy and stuffed with shrimp and avocado. The sauce it was served with was too sweet for me but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. For entrees, the table ordered the Philly cheesesteak (recommended by Red for sandwiches), the mixed grill, fried shrimp with coleslaw and rice and beans, and stuffed grouper. Everyone liked their dish and enjoyed tasting from each other's plates. The steak on my kabobs were cooked perfectly just needed a little salt but the shrimp and scallops were perfect. The coleslaw was so good that I kept picking it off my dad's plate. I also ordered onion rings and they were yummy but I was too full to finish them. We were quite satisfied with our meals. I also ordered the beach breeze cocktail and it was sweet and refreshing. Our Uber heading home said it was one of his favorites and he was born and raised in the area. Stopped in today and had a fantastic meal! Went inside to dine and was greeted by an awesome waiter. He told us about the fresh fish and oysters that were from Virginia. He explained about the sandwiches and other great items. He suggested if we wanted Oysters to try the combo which had 15 oysters from baked, seafood, buffalo, Rockefeller and Casino. These were a big hit as well as the smoked Fish dip. We had two orders of Blackened Mahi sandwiches with sweet potato fries and onion rings. All delicious! A well cooked burger and coconut shrimp with a rum glaze. All deliciously prepared. The place was busy and offered valet parking. Came here for drinks - was disappointed to learn they did not have happy hour specials. I guess not too many people have happy hour on the weekends? Still enjoyed the drinks - I got the Wipeoutrita (tequila, strawberry rum, sour mix and strawberry puree). Very good but a little on the expensive side ($10). Came here with my husband. Started off with the smoked fish dip and it was good and a nice large portion. We added side salads to our entrees (extra $4.50 ) and they were good also. My husband got the Mahi sandwich and he really enjoyed it. The fries are seasoned, crispy and really good. I ordered the rum glazed tuna and this is where the meal went south. The steaks were not fresh fish. If you have ever cooked fresh tuna vs. frozen tuna you know that the texture changes. I ordered it med. rare as is recommended. The meat was not flavorful and tender but kinda dry. I can't believe I am eating with the ocean in view and I ordered fish that had been frozen. I'm so incredibly disappointed. I hate to wast food but I was only able to eat 1/2 a steak before I decided it was not worth the disappointing calories. I did not ask for the meal to be credited but they did take it off our bill when I refused a to-go box and mentioned why. Good customer service in my opinion. We met some other travelers and they were very happy with the stuffed ribeye. The guy said he never eats steak but the stuff the put in the steak was amazing. It certainly looked and smelled amazing! I got grilled shrimp, my daughter got the kids popcorn shrimp, my son got the mini sliders and my husband got the stuffed New York strip. My shrimp were seasoned perfectly. We were asking around for a good place to get good seafood. Riptides was highly recommend. So we went on a Sunday night. We were pleasantly surprised that they had all the football games on. We were seated immediately. Our server was very nice and very enthusiastic. Excellent service! We were seating quickly and the staff was extremely cautious of my grandfather's seafood allergy. I ordered the crab cakes for my meal, and they were amazing! Everyone else at the table seemed pleased as well. (2 people ordered the stuffed grouper, my grandfather got a plain hamburger). My only complaint would be that the outdoor seating has a mister spray water vapor onto the patio every few minutes, this got obnoxious after the first few sprays. read more

First impression: Wait time 45-1hr. (We waited 43 min) Bartender was super busy but seems nice enough. Calamari appetizer was not what I was expecting. It was almost the size of onion rings. $9.99 for about 7 rings. We were given some small plates and silverware. One plate was dirty and one set of silverware was dirty. Our server was super sweet and did the best she could. It was a busy night and she was running back and forth. The food was delicious. 2lbs of crab legs for $49.99. Oysters were fresh but sizes vary from medium to small. The salad was surprisingly good with varieties of lettuce, walnut, cranberries and fried shrimp. I'm not sure if the all you can eat crab legs are the same price everyday or if it changes, but it was $65 when we went. Overall, would visit again but hopefully when it's not as busy. read more

Absolutely loved this place and will definitely return! This was my first visit and my husband's second visit. We asked to sit inside because I don't like live music very much. I was impressed by the live music though - it was piped in through speakers inside and the performer on the Sunday night we visited was very good! Lots of TVs inside to catch sporting events, too. My husband ordered the AYCR crab legs and I ordered the mahi tacos, and we also ordered the crab dip. The food was delicious! I don't normally enjoy crab legs (I had a couple legs from my husband), but the crab legs here are fresh and meaty! My husband ate an obscene amount of crab legs and definitely got our $50 worth. The mahi tacos were messy but delicious and fresh. I had sweet potato fries as my side, and they were perfect. The crab dip? Amazing! It came out hot and there was plenty of crab in the dip. We both ordered drinks. I wanted the Melonrita, but for whatever reason the bar couldn't make it. I had the Riperita instead and it was good. I couldn't taste the liquor, but it was there. My husband had one of the beers where you pay for the glass - of course, he left the glass on the table when we left. This "promotion" is the reason why I didn't give a full 5-star rating. The beer was great, but overpriced because of the glass. I recognize he could have purchased a bottled beer, but he likes drafts. We likely won't order alcoholic beverages the next time we visit - little too overpriced for me. Our server, Pedro, was great. Super attentive, very friendly, and he kept the crab legs coming out. The complementary valet is a very nice touch, too. The overall atmosphere of Riptides is great. I highly recommend this place for a great seafood meal. read more

We had seen an airplane flying their banner over the beaches nearby since we came to Daytona area a couple months ago as RV'ers from Michigan. So happy that now, at the end of our trip, we finally stopped in and enjoyed a great jumbo shrimp dinner with sides; and service was friendly and prompt and the food tasted good. The shrimp were amazing! Our waitress was so friendly, and forgot her name but I hope Riptides can find out who she is from the time, (we were there at about a little after 5 PM., Inside.). Love coming to Riptides when vacationing in Daytona! Our family went for dinner and sat in outdoor dining watching a beautiful sunset while listening to wonderful love music. Our group had a mix of foods from all you can eat crabs, to mahi mahi/shrimp combos and kid meals. The food was delicious and tasted very fresh. One of my nephews has a food allergy (peanut/egg) and our waiter was more than helpful. Checked on a few items for us and let us know what had the least risk of cross contamination. I ordered the 12 baked oysters - $18 - they were so small, smaller than a dime. If I didn't have crackers, I would still be hungry. I fit 2 oysters on a saltine. Very disappointed!!! I ordered the special drink "Blow Out" - $25 - got glass to take home. The drink was 1/2 ice and rest liquid. I thought I would be wasted, well, not even a buzz. Won't get that again.
