Friends had gator bites appetizer and found them flavorful. Everyone got the all or can eat crab legs, $36.00/person. Crab was flavorful, sweet, came out hot and fast, even the reorders. Wait staff friendly but kind of spread out so hard to get their attention. They did stop by table from time to time to check on us. At least 2 reorders of crab came out without our asking and we ended up telling them to stop, LOL. Live music was being played out on the deck and from time to time was a bit to loud over speakers inside but was good music. Table was bussed throughout our meal since we had crab parts piling up. Will definitely try again and hope it lives up to some of the higher ratings others have given it. Overall 3 stars since we had a limited sampling of the menu. read more

It took 20 minutes for my drink to come & Beverly Simon is by far the rudest manager I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. Her approach to handling situations is aggressive and unnecessary. My experience here would have been way better had Beverly stayed in the back instead of shouting across the restaurant through out the night for seemingly little to no reason. read more

I could go into long, drawn out details about why our experience was less than pleasant but I will just make this short and to the point. The staff needs more training. The "hostess" consisted of 3 girls that somehow still didn't know what was going on, who all seemed to lack basic manners as someone in the hospitality business. There was a bartender that didn't know mint and rum was supposed to go into a mojito..umm? The food was decent but I would say it was definitely overpriced for what we got. Totally bummed about our last experience. We always make a point to visit when we vacation here, but we won't be back. Our server, Caiti, seemed good at first, but service quickly went downhill. She was obviously overwhelmed and couldn't handle the tables she had. Our food was good (fish tacos, crabcake, shrimp/avocado spring roll, oysters) but the beer is now incredibly overpriced. You're forced to buy a glass with your first beer and then you get half-price ones after that. If you take your glass back, you continue to get half-price. Service makes or breaks an experience, and it was too expensive for such poor service. From someone who has been in the industry for a decade, save your money. read more

We made online reservation for my 60th birthday for july 22, at 6:45 pm. We arrived on time and were told the online reservation was basically call ahead seating and they would seat us when they could. 50 minutes later hostess still had no idea when this would happen. This place was an outstanding dining experience for me and my family. The server Robbie was very generous and very informative on what to order on the menu. I suggest that you do not worry about eating inside because the outdoor seating is just as nice, which allowed for us to have no wait to get a table. The fans were very helpful as well. I would highly recommend this to anybody visiting Ormond Beach, and it is a place where you should not let the price to deter you from partaking in a wonderful place to eat. Such a fun find! Steps from the beach (patio, but no beach view), it was easy to find. Parking seemed tricky, but we found the free valet guy and were golden. Overall, the food wasn't bad just not impressive. To start we ordered calamari. Let's just say I've had better at Carrabba's. I had the jumbo shrimp (fried) with coleslaw and black beans with rice which all was just mediocre. My daughter had the hot wings ordered hot which are prepared with Frank's hot sauce per our server and a side of fries. The wings were good, but not great. Lastly for dessert I ordered the key lime pie shooter which was very good and my daughter had the double brownie chocolate shooter which was ok. The service was quicker than expected, which was a plus. When we arrived we were told it would be 45 minutes wait, but we only had to wait maybe 10. Also, after our food was ordered, it was all brought out within 15 minutes which was unexpected considering the place was packed. I would have liked to have had the calamari brought out first, then the meal second, but worked out ok. The waiter was fairly attentive although he forgot to put in the order for gator tail and had to ask again for ketchup for my daughter's fries. Overall was a pleasant experience, and would consider eating here again after trying other places first. read more

Well we were celebrating my birthday on May 26, 2019 and our whole family was on vacation..We heard so many great things about Riptides and the hotel gave my daughter free appetizer coupons since she has a time share and is a VIP Gold Member. We were all excited about the food, one of my grandsons ordered the all you can eat crab legs $65.00 for a 12 year old is a bit much but it was a reward for high school grades that year. We had calamari, and I had the kabobs. It started out well but then during the night both my other grandson who is 8 and myself were hit with the dreaded food poisoning. He is a smaller child in weight, but we were both running at the same time to the bathroom. It was the worse night of our lives../// and what we both had in common was the caesar salad, no one else at the table had it but us. We ate nothing else the same that night but the salad. We didn't eat anything else after the meal we had. I ended up leaving the next day and lost out on another vacation day in Ormond and paid the hotel for the entirety of our vacation and just left. The trip home was horrible I was laid up for 3 more days after. My poor grandson the same. I know these things happen but I just wish your establishment would know that testing the salads temperature or the raw eggs in the salad would have prevented this. Something was very wrong and it ruined our vacation, birthday and many days after because of it. Sorry I have been waiting to post this but just thinking about it gives me nightmares and reliving it and feeling responsible about sharing this salad with my grandson was all too much at the time. read more

So this place is tough for me. It looks like the typical spring break joint which is really a turn off. Plus, the bartender made the weakest cosmo my mom has ever had. Obviously most people chose a frozen and/or sugary drink off their menu. For apps we had the conch fritters, calamari, avocado spring rolls (which were not spring rolls, they were deep fried egg rolls which pissed me off) and for dinner I had the tequila lime grouper, the hubby and my dad had the coconut Mahi, and my brother and mom had grilled Mahi. The mahi I had was cooked really well, but was spiced kind of strange. Flavorless vegetables that needed seasoning (even some salt would have been nice). Yellow rice was normal.
