Having just relocated from the Bay Area, I was desperate for a dentist. Both my husband and I made appointments to come in for X-rays, cleanings and dental work. I struggle with most dental offices as they only care about your insurance and not you. That was not the case here. My husband knew that he had multiple cavities and needed crowns, and I had a minor cavity that we could treat or monitor. I opted to spearhead it and treat it. Dr. Peter is both polite and kind. He's quick and talks you through everything he's doing. His entire team is filled with great communicators. Their sense of follow up and follow-through is strong. We chatted about great shows we've been watching on Netflix and HBO and I was amused that he was humming the music on the radio and you could hear the various staff members around the office humming and singing from different parts. It was actually comforting how light hearted everyone was. Like the previous negative Yelp review, both my husband and I received a personal text from Dr. Peter which we thought was kind and friendly and was such great customer service. It was nice that he personally followed up with each of us after meeting us and gave us his number to contact him if we had any questions or concerns. It's personal touches like that that foster great long term relationships. My X-rays (panoramic and smaller sections) and cleaning were both super easy and Mika was lovely! I am following up with whitening and regular cleanings in their office. I would recommend them and am glad that my husband and I found a great dental home. read more

I am going through a very bad experience due to Dr Peter Sharifi. It started when he put a crown on one of my upper molars. Between him and the dental assistant, it took an abnormal amount of time, and I could tell they were frustrated. They planned on installing the temporary crown on this upper molar and replacing a filling on a lower molar on the same visit. Because of their difficulty with the temporary crown on the upper molar, they did not perform the work on the lower molar, even though he charged me (and my insurance company) for this work that he didn't perform. No refund, no nothing. In hindsight, I am glad he didn't replace the lower filling. I now question whether it is even necessary. After the permanent crown (mold) arrived and they installed it, again with unusual difficulty, it has felt uncomfortable. It feels like they slapped a horseshoe on my tooth and it feels ceaselessly tight and foreign. It has been this way for months now. I was told that another filling on another upper molar also needed to be replaced, and it was fairly critical to do so. So, even after the crown problem, I let him replace the filling. It should have been simple. But again, he was having problems and it took an abnormal amount of time, and I sensed his frustration (or fatigue maybe). When he finished, it felt horrible. Even worse than the crown. He systematically tried to grind down the new amalgam on the molar (as expected) but he also ground down the adjacent lower molar (a tooth he didn't work on) in order to get a natural bite fit. He ultimately got wrapped around the axles and I get to suffer for it. I now am uncomfortable all the time. I am always pressing on my teeth with my fingers, and waking up in the morning with my jaw aching. This is all the time now. The dentist no longer works at Ripon Plaza Dental, and I don't know what to do about this. I want to stress that I have gotten plenty of dental work in my life and I have NEVER had any issues, EVER, until this guy. The current dentist (Dr. Marshall) at Ripon Plaza Dental (I believe he may actually be the owner of the practice) seems extremely intelligent and skillful. He told me that I am grinding my teeth down and recommends a bite guard at this point. Wow, that is awful. I have to keep going back to him for help about this matter. It doesn't seem fair to have this dentist try to investigate unwind what is going wrong. Please don't get me wrong. Peter Sharifi was a very nice guy. The type of guy you would hang out with. But, my teeth are my teeth and they are more important. If anyone out there is seeing Peter Sharifi for dental work, be careful. Especially for your kids, who may not be able to express problems effectively. Other than that, the staff seem great, and the dental hygienist that takes care of my regular maintenance is awesome. My teenage daughter had her first appointment at Ripon Plaza Dental recently. She had quite a few cavities and Dr. Peter made her feel comfortable and made sure she was not embarssed at all. He even used his fancy camera to show me what the cavaties looked like. He did the fillings really quick and she watched Netflix during her appointment. The entire staff was friendly and professional. We have switched our whole family over to Ripon Plaza Dental. read more

The dentist I have been going to since 2003 changed how they accept insurance so I decided to try a new dentist. I brought my daughter and myself to Ripon Dental Plaza for a cleaning and exam. It was easy to make an appointment and the office staff were very friendly. I brought my daughter in and she was told by Dr. Peter that she had a cavity. She is 16 and has never had a cavity in her life. But I believed the dentist and made an appointment for the filling. Dr Peter offered her Invisalign and said we would get a quote. We checked out at the front desk and paid, but they couldn't print our estimate so she said she would email it. I never got it. Later that day, my daughter got a text but on my phone saying that it was Dr Peter, that he was texting from his personal cell and to contact him any time if she had questions or needed anything dental related. I thought it was highly inappropriate for a grown man to send a text like that to a teenager. But I decided to wait and see if I got a similar text after my visit. I went a few weeks later for my appointment and I could tell the staff didn't remember that I had come in with my daughter. They asked me the same personal questions and told me the same stories they had told me when my daughter was there. I didn't say I had just been there a few weeks earlier. same thing, told me about invisalign and then told me I had 2 cavities and also a root canal I had, Dr Peter told me I had an infection in and needed to have that revised, and a new crown. He referred me to an endodontist for that. At this point I felt like something wasn't right. I have had 2 cavities in my entire life and my daughter has never had any. I went to see the endodontist who did my root canal in 2004 and he said everything looked good. No issues. I asked him to see if he saw any cavities that needed filling. He said no. Everything on x-ray and visual exam looked good. My daughter and I both went back to our original dentist and she said my daughter had no sign of any cavities. She also said I didn't have the need for any fillings. I am currently trying to get the billing corrected for our visits and they didn't have record of my payment. I also went to cancel my daughters cavity filling appointment and they had no record of it. They had offered me a date and time but didn't book it! I also never got a text from Dr. Peter offering his availability any time for me. like he had my teenage daughter. I would not recommend this dentist at all for the above reasons. read more
