Our app we ordered prior to moving to our table on the patio was great (burratta and crispy prosciutto) but we probably waited 15 mins before the 2 servers walking around even made eye contact with us. A lot of attention was given to the table of drinkers behind us and the family who was seated after us was waiting a bit for a first touch too. The outdoor patio was cool and not overcrowded, even though it was full. The Wagyu Burger was alright - too much Gorgonzola and not enough of anything else but cooked perfectly. We stumbled across this place on family adventure to Sutter Street and I'm deeply upset we hadn't found it sooner. We got seated immediately. Our server, Cassie, was nothing short of amazing. We take all our guests to our favorite places when they're here visiting us in Folsom and this hamburger joint is on the top of the list. Clean and conveniently located on the corner of Sutter Street and Riley Street - upstairs. The service is fast and friendly with delicious hamburgers and all the fixings you will need. Pickles are great and their onion rings are perfectly cooked. They have music on the patio on weekends in the summer. Free parking in the lot below the street or right up front, if you're lucky. I took my kids to old Folsom for the first time for my sons birthday today. We visited this establishment for lunch as we were told they had burgers and fries. We waited initially for 7-minutes in the entry lobby to be helped, greet and, seated. Nobody else was in the lobby waiting to be seated. There were no menus to look at either. An older couple arrived right after us. The young hostess came up and helped the older couple that came in after us instead of helping us. We ended up waiting another 7-minutes until the manager came to help. He apologized for the wait. I didn't catch his name since he wasn't wearing a name badge. Bald head, glasses, and goatee. I explained how the hostess completely passed us up to help the older couple that came in after us. We were also standing right in front of the the older couple at the hostess table. I couldn't help but notice that we were the only minorities in the establishment. I told the manager that the hostess passing us up is unacceptable. He apologized for her poor service. When I asked him if the poor service and the hostess passing us up to help the older non minority couple was due to our race he flipped out and walked away. While we were leaving the establishment that's when the hostess finally asked to seat us. I told her we were leaving and she rolled her eyes. Absolutely poor service here and possible racist intentions. Bad reflection for my kids first visit to old Folsom. This is 2025 and I shouldn't have to explain racism to my boys while visiting Folsom. Shame on Riley's for prioritizing older non-minority couple over a minority family that was waiting in the lobby first. Shame on the manager for not trying to explain why we were passed over for the older couple. Walking away from a problem instead of addressing it is not the right way of providing customer service Riley's. Rolling your eyes in front of my kids is very childish of the hostess. read more

Walked in and were immediately seated. We beat the lunch rush as well so it was nice to have a choice of tables. The patio seating was fun to watch over Main Street. Food was 10 stars. Our group had spent the morning plant shopping and now it was time for food! I wanted to treat my friend to somewhere different and fun when I remembered this place because it had great outdoor seating and overlooked the bustling main street with the river near by- that was the whole reason I wanted them to go so when we got there on this cloudy late April afternoon, some people were sitting outside but we were told the patio is closed. It was a bummer but we were there and decided to stay. Glad we did because the food was marvelous! While we were there we saw more people being seated outside se we check in with a server to see if they decided to open the patio, they told us we couldn't because the other people made reservations before it was closed. But by the time we were leaving there were lots of families outside... it was discouraging but we made the best of it, enjoying our time together. Our server, Abby P was lovely!! Riley's is a 4 month old bar & restaurant upstairs across from the Folsom hotel. The place is nice, clean and comfortable. The staff and servers are welcoming and efficient. The food is just ok. After hearing such rave reviews, we were excited to try this new restaurant, but we left underwhelmed. The bison burger was a bit dry and tough, and the brioche was a weird kind of chewy. The cheese was either very mild sliced cheddar or some American processed product. The salad was fine. The nachos were again just ok. The chips were fresh but the chicken had a strange "been on heat lamps too long" consistency. I'd wish for more guac and less beans. Overall, they have potential but they're in a crowded field with many strong competitors less than a block away. read more

We called and were quoted a 30 min wait for 5 people around 6pm but luckily you can put your name in over phone. Our server Jonathan P helped us get our drinks in at 6:35 and they arrived at the table 12 minutes later. Happy hour time! This is a new addition to old Folsom and my friend and I had to try it out! She seen one of their ads on Facebook, tagged me in it, and we were here the next day. We weren't especially hungry but that's what happy hour is for right!!?? We each got a small plate and a cocktail (in her case, a mocktail) and got to experience the best seat in the house. We got a corner table on the patio that overlooks Sutter St, perfect for people watching. Service was prompt and friendly- frequent table checks ensured we were enjoying our food and drinks. Wow, I can't get over how quickly this restaurant was turned over. Did it go from Hacienda Real to Riley's on Sutter... overnight? I literally just wrote a review for Hacienda Real a few weeks ago! I'm impressed that the staff were able to learn a whole new menu and turn all the decor around so quickly. My friend and I stopped by tonight (Friday) for Happy Hour, which currently runs Wednesday through Friday from 11am-6pm. To get the Happy Hour specials, you have to sit either at the bar or on the patio, which is where I wanted to sit, anyway. I arrived a few minutes before my friend did, and asked to sit on the patio. When I mentioned to the hostess that I would like to sit "as close to the edge as possible," she offered to clean the corner table (which had just been vacated) so that we could sit there. This is, in my opinion, the best seat in the house-- although the night-time views from the dining room can also be pretty nice. I love watching the action going on down below on Sutter Street. It only took the hostess a minute or two to clean the table, so, by the time my friend arrived, I had been seated and looking over the menu for a few minutes. At first, I almost missed the Mocktails section. I didn't see anything I wanted listed in the non-alcoholic section, and was about to ask if I could order a ginger beer, when I finally spotted the Mocktails on the full menu. I think it would be helpful if they printed the Mocktails on the Happy Hour menu, and maybe even included a special or two! Most of them are just juice and fruit puree, anyway. Why not make them a part of Happy Hour? What ever happened to the Designated Driver Discount? Also, like I said, I noticed that they had ginger beer, because there were Moscow Mules on the menu. Ginger beer wasn't technically listed on the menu, but I think that it should be. After asking our server several questions about which drinks were the most Instagrammable, I ended up ordering the Pineapple Express Mocktail, while my friend ordered the Spicy Seed Margarita. To eat, I ordered the Totchos, while she ordered the birria flautas. The Totchos are $10 on the happy hour menu, versus $15 on the full menu. Protein can be added for an additional $5 for chicken, $6 for carnitas, or $9 for carne asada. Since I wasn't feeling super hungry, I stuck with the vegetarian option. As it turns out, this was a good choice, because I wasn't able to finish all my food, anyway. According to the menu, the Totchos are topped with "black beans, queso cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and spicy sauce." I thought the phrase "queso cheese" was funny-- as if 'queso' were the type of cheese. 'Queso' is literally the Spanish word for 'cheese.' It reminded me of the phrase "chai tea." The "queso cheese" was sort of like a nacho cheese sauce, except runnier-- actually just a little bit too runny. The flavor was mild, and wasn't bad, but I personally think the cheese sauce would be better if it were a little thicker. My spicy sauce was either missed, or was indistinguishable from the queso cheese. Overall, I liked the flavor, and, whatever the sauce was, I thought it was cheesy enough, and complimented the other toppings well. The pico de gallo was great, and the guacamole was on point. This didn't surprise me, since it was also on point at Hacienda Real. My friend's flautas were the biggest flautas I've ever seen-- I swear they looked bigger in real life than they do in the pics. They were like twice the size of Chevy's flautas. She noticed that they used flour tortillas, which is why they were so large. The idea of birria in flautas sounded a little weird to me, but I tried a bite, and thought they tasted pretty good, even though I didn't try them until they were cold. My Mocktail was not bad. It was pretty much just pineapple juice, orange juice, and grenadine. I loved that they put sugar on the rim and added little decorations to it to make it as Instagrammable as a real cocktail. Like I said, I loved that they had Mocktails on the menu, but felt like they could have been a little more creative, or had a little more variety than just juice and fruit puree. Maybe some pineapple or cranberry juice with ginger beer, or some kombucha, or maybe even some lower calorie options. Overall, this was a great first experience with Riley's on Sutter, and I hope to be able to come back to try more of their food again in the future. read more
