We got to visit Rik's again and it hit the mark. The service was great. The food was still amazing. We had the buffalo tot appetizer - these tots weren't your run of the mill tots. They are homemade and so big - nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They were covered in cheesy, buffalo goodness with some bacon for extra pizazz. We devoured them. Our entrees included crabby chicken, chipotle chicken pasta, and a blueberry turkey sandwich. All of our selections were prepared perfectly and they were all delicious. The quality of the food is stellar. We arrived shortly before 5 and it was pretty empty, but by the time we left, every table was filled and people were waiting for a table. This place is not what it looks like from the outside - and it's such an odd area to have such an amazing "cafe". This place used to be really good but my last repair was just mediocre was not worth $150 tab I ordered the crabby chicken and my piece of chicken was cold and the I guess was what supposed to be crab imperial on top of it was just kind of a soupy mess not much crab in it but really what made me disappointed was the asparagus for the side was stone cold and absolutely no seasoning on it at all like if you're gonna be a nicer restaurant at least put some butter and garlic on your vegetables. Wow! Delicious hidden gem! Stumbled across this amazing spot while doing some shopping in the Hagerstown mall area. About 7 min from Sam's, this restaurant has great parking and easy access to main road. Walk inside to a cozy and inviting atmosphere great for a family dinner, night out with friends or a quick stop while out shopping. Lots of tables without feeling cramped. Gorgeous full bar and a full kids menu. Did I mention the great pricing! Very well priced for such high quality food. Let's get to the nitty gritty.....THE FOOD....! Good food and service. We stopped on our way through on our way to vacation for lunch. The crab pretzel was a great appetizer. The perfect size for two people to share. My husband got the Ruben sandwich and chips and I got the baratta salad w shrimp. The only thing that held us back from trying this place out was the description of the ambiance. Rik's has been popping up on my Facebook feed for months so we finally made the trek from Frederick to try it out. SO WORTH THE TRIP!!! Lunchtime crowd was booming! I got the sandwich of the day, Golden Chicken sandwich, putting for sweet potato fries. The grilled chicken was very tasty, the toasted bun a nice fresh softness. The highlight of my meal was the sweet potato fries!! The best I've ever had!!! The Man chose the Pesto Turkey sandwich. He said the slices turkey was good and the croissant elevated the sandwich. The BEST part of the meal was dessert!! Fried Xango, a fried churro type shell filled with cream served with fresh whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. You don't want to pass this up!! read more

I chose to eat at Rik's based on reviews and photos. When we arrived at the shopping center, I had second thoughts. I'm glad we decided to continue with the plan to eat there though. All of the food was tasty and delicious. We ordered the garlic parm wings and crab pretzels for appetizers. For entrees, I recommend the crab grilled cheese. Also the homemade chips sprinkled with Old Bay was the perfect accompaniment. The kids enjoyed their meals as well. The Mac and cheese that was made with real cheese was such a delight. Everything is delicious. Their meals are varied. There is something for everyone. The servings are large. They also have a youth menu that anyone can partake of at any age. We were part of a party of 6 for early dinner at Rik's last weekend; it was pretty good! The spot was recommended by locals in our group who'd been there. The strip shopping center, near South Hagerstown High, has seen brighter days--now containing both a Family Dollar and a Dollar Tree--so there was puhlenty of free parking out front. We put our hesitation away and plunged in. We were welcomed and seated at a very deep booth for six right in the front window of the deep and dark storefront space. The menu was appealing, and also we were also very hungry. Our friendly waiter kept us happy. My bride and I shared the duck wonton appetizer, very good, after which she got the tasty ahi tuna tacos and I got the delicious and messy Reuben sandwich, thick and juicy. My side of hand-cut fries was cold, though. Others in our group enjoyed the shrimp panko sticks and chorizo-corn dip apps, a mushroom burger, and the entree BBQ scallops/shrimp and chipotle chicken pasta. We were past eating dessert, but not past ordering it, especially when I heard they had Boston cream pie, an old favorite which I haven't seen in years. We ordered a couple pieces to go, and they were above average. The menu has a fair amount of variety and some nice surprises. We would visit Rik's in the future when we're in the area. read more

Lovely! Then the jalapeño popper dip with seasoned chips. I wanted to lick the bowl! For those of us from AZ, I would have liked it a little spicier. The entrees were okay. My wife and I stopped here a little after 6pm on the Friday before the 4th of July. She searched the area before we arrived while we were driving and found this place which gets great reviews. As you walk in, they have bar area to the right and a dining area to the left separated by a wall with windows. They were set up for social distancing and were able to accommodate us easily in the bar area. We perused the menu and made some choices. For an appetizer, we decided to try the Buffalo Chicken Dip with pretzel bites. The pretzel pieces seemed a bit crunchy which I was not expecting but the dip was really tasty and not too much Buffalo seasoning, the flavor and texture was yummy! For our entrees, my wife chose the Blackened Unicorn Tacos. The Unicorn, we discovered is a type of fish, after asking about the menu item. I decided to stick with one of my usual favorites, Arik's Meatball Sub. My wife really enjoyed the tacos and was happy to try something new as well. The meatball sub was tasty but did not stand out. The service was good and attentive, my wife ordered iced tea and they were very good about checking on us and refilling when needed. read more

Quite a surprise finding Rik's. It is located in a strip mall one would drive by and not think to stop. That would be a mistake. There is a very eclectic menu - from crab cakes to bison burgers.
