Everything is delicious. Their meals are varied. There is something for everyone. The servings are large. They also have a youth menu that anyone can partake of at any age. Rik's has been popping up on my Facebook feed for months so we finally made the trek from Frederick to try it out. SO WORTH THE TRIP!!! Lunchtime crowd was booming! I got the sandwich of the day, Golden Chicken sandwich, putting for sweet potato fries. The grilled chicken was very tasty, the toasted bun a nice fresh softness. The highlight of my meal was the sweet potato fries!! The best I've ever had!!! The Man chose the Pesto Turkey sandwich. He said the slices turkey was good and the croissant elevated the sandwich. I chose to eat at Rik's based on reviews and photos. When we arrived at the shopping center, I had second thoughts. I'm glad we decided to continue with the plan to eat there though. All of the food was tasty and delicious. We ordered the garlic parm wings and crab pretzels for appetizers. For entrees, I recommend the crab grilled cheese. Also the homemade chips sprinkled with Old Bay was the perfect accompaniment. The kids enjoyed their meals as well. The Mac and cheese that was made with real cheese was such a delight. We were part of a party of 6 for early dinner at Rik's last weekend; it was pretty good! The spot was recommended by locals in our group who'd been there. The strip shopping center, near South Hagerstown High, has seen brighter days--now containing both a Family Dollar and a Dollar Tree--so there was puhlenty of free parking out front. We put our hesitation away and plunged in. We were welcomed and seated at a very deep booth for six right in the front window of the deep and dark storefront space. The menu was appealing, and also we were also very hungry. Our friendly waiter kept us happy. My bride and I shared the duck wonton appetizer, very good, after which she got the tasty ahi tuna tacos and I got the delicious and messy Reuben sandwich, thick and juicy. My side of hand-cut fries was cold, though. Others in our group enjoyed the shrimp panko sticks and chorizo-corn dip apps, a mushroom burger, and the entree BBQ scallops/shrimp and chipotle chicken pasta. We were past eating dessert, but not past ordering it, especially when I heard they had Boston cream pie, an old favorite which I haven't seen in years. We ordered a couple pieces to go, and they were above average. The menu has a fair amount of variety and some nice surprises. We would visit Rik's in the future when we're in the area. read more

This is unassuming location for a restaurant which meant our expectations were low. We ordered the buffalo tots which were amazing. We expected a pile of previously force tots but we received 7 very large homemade tots with an amazing buffalo cheese sauce. The Ahi tuna tacos were average. The tacos were overstuffed with jasmine rice with very little slaw. The two large pieces of Ahi tuna were perfectly cooked. The Rueben was also very generous and tasty. My wife and I stopped here a little after 6pm on the Friday before the 4th of July. She searched the area before we arrived while we were driving and found this place which gets great reviews. As you walk in, they have bar area to the right and a dining area to the left separated by a wall with windows. They were set up for social distancing and were able to accommodate us easily in the bar area. We perused the menu and made some choices. For an appetizer, we decided to try the Buffalo Chicken Dip with pretzel bites. The pretzel pieces seemed a bit crunchy which I was not expecting but the dip was really tasty and not too much Buffalo seasoning, the flavor and texture was yummy! For our entrees, my wife chose the Blackened Unicorn Tacos. The Unicorn, we discovered is a type of fish, after asking about the menu item. I decided to stick with one of my usual favorites, Arik's Meatball Sub. My wife really enjoyed the tacos and was happy to try something new as well. The meatball sub was tasty but did not stand out. The service was good and attentive, my wife ordered iced tea and they were very good about checking on us and refilling when needed. read more

Quite a surprise finding Rik's. It is located in a strip mall one would drive by and not think to stop. That would be a mistake. There is a very eclectic menu - from crab cakes to bison burgers. I usually love this place. Service is usually great, and food is always amazing. Food was still amazing, but last night we did not have a good experience with our waiter, Will. He never introduced himself, we found out his name from our receipt. The service he gave us was appalling. We had reservations at 6:30 and there were 10 of us, so I understand we were a big group. He rushed us through completely. He didn't know much about the menu, beings that he didn't ask how I'd like my steak cooked, and then was sarcastic about it. As most of us were still eating, he came around with to-go boxes, handed them to my family member and told us to "distribute accordingly." Soon after, he came back with our checks. Again, as most of us were still eating. He even took my plate from me as I still had a fork in my hand and was still chewing. Dessert was never offered, and when we asked about a dessert he became very short. We felt as if we were rushed through our meal. My mom got her complementary birthday dessert (which was nice) but she got it as she was still eating her entree. I just feel that this is too nice of a restaurant for this type of service and behavior. I feel we should have been treated much better than we were. We felt like we were on a time frame. We were only there for an hour. We got our checks at 7:30, and when we left it was not overly busy. read more
