One of my favorite places to have lunch, Food is always well prepared and the staff friendly. Give it a try.! Particularly like the crab pretzel. read more

We got to visit Rik's again and it hit the mark. The service was great. The food was still amazing. We had the buffalo tot appetizer - these tots weren't your run of the mill tots. They are homemade and so big - nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They were covered in cheesy, buffalo goodness with some bacon for extra pizazz. We devoured them. Our entrees included crabby chicken, chipotle chicken pasta, and a blueberry turkey sandwich. All of our selections were prepared perfectly and they were all delicious. The quality of the food is stellar. We arrived shortly before 5 and it was pretty empty, but by the time we left, every table was filled and people were waiting for a table. This place is not what it looks like from the outside - and it's such an odd area to have such an amazing "cafe". The strip mall feels a little run down, but this place is 5 stars all around! read more

This place used to be really good but my last repair was just mediocre was not worth $150 tab I ordered the crabby chicken and my piece of chicken was cold and the I guess was what supposed to be crab imperial on top of it was just kind of a soupy mess not much crab in it but really what made me disappointed was the asparagus for the side was stone cold and absolutely no seasoning on it at all like if you're gonna be a nicer restaurant at least put some butter and garlic on your vegetables. There wasn't even salt and pepper on it. Nothing special don't really think I'll be back. read more

Wow! Delicious hidden gem! Stumbled across this amazing spot while doing some shopping in the Hagerstown mall area. About 7 min from Sam's, this restaurant has great parking and easy access to main road. Walk inside to a cozy and inviting atmosphere great for a family dinner, night out with friends or a quick stop while out shopping. Lots of tables without feeling cramped. Gorgeous full bar and a full kids menu. Did I mention the great pricing! Very well priced for such high quality food. Let's get to the nitty gritty.....THE FOOD....! My kids would say the food was "BUSSIN'!" That means amazing. lol. We started with the duck wonton. Best wontons we've ever had. The flavor combinations were masterful and they were fried perfectly. We ordered the Blackened crab grilled cheese and the Chesapeake cheesesteak. Delicious. Great flavor. Definitely recommend this place whether you're close by or gotta take a short drive. Added this spot to my favorites list. read more

Good food and service. We stopped on our way through on our way to vacation for lunch. The crab pretzel was a great appetizer. The perfect size for two people to share. My husband got the Ruben sandwich and chips and I got the baratta salad w shrimp. The only thing that held us back from trying this place out was the description of the ambiance. This place did not have a country feel to it. They played good music and the owner even came around and talked to the local people. read more

Great service from very pleasant waiter! Turkey and Brie croissant was fabulous! Atmosphere is a little dark but such a great little place!

Always great experience when we come here We have for years and I would like to tell everyone that their staff food and drinks have never failed. Always spot-on!! This is do to Rik and knowing how to treat his staff it reflects how he is as a businessman and chef. read more

Very good and delicious food. Nice friendly atmosphere. Had a great time. Prices were reasonable.

I chose to eat at Rik's based on reviews and photos. When we arrived at the shopping center, I had second thoughts. I'm glad we decided to continue with the plan to eat there though. All of the food was tasty and delicious. We ordered the garlic parm wings and crab pretzels for appetizers. For entrees, I recommend the crab grilled cheese. Also the homemade chips sprinkled with Old Bay was the perfect accompaniment. The kids enjoyed their meals as well. The Mac and cheese that was made with real cheese was such a delight. The service was outstanding. Our server was very courteous and attentive. read more

Rik's cafe is my favorite restaurant ever. Point blank. I live in Frederick and go out of my way to come here on the weekends. The crab cheesesteak is out of this world. I literally dream about it! The perfect Father's Day Meal to go and a NY Strip cooked medium is almost impossible to do like they did it was perfect. Italian sub is deliciously delectable with a roll that was perfect. Rik's has been popping up on my Facebook feed for months so we finally made the trek from Frederick to try it out. SO WORTH THE TRIP!!! Lunchtime crowd was booming! I got the sandwich of the day, Golden Chicken sandwich, putting for sweet potato fries. The grilled chicken was very tasty, the toasted bun a nice fresh softness. The highlight of my meal was the sweet potato fries!! The best I've ever had!!! The Man chose the Pesto Turkey sandwich. He said the slices turkey was good and the croissant elevated the sandwich. The BEST part of the meal was dessert!! Fried Xango, a fried churro type shell filled with cream served with fresh whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. You don't want to pass this up!! read more

Everything is delicious. Their meals are varied. There is something for everyone. The servings are large. They also have a youth menu that anyone can partake of at any age. The servers are very professional. They are always ready to make accommodations to your meal. The dessert s look delicious, but I am always too full to eat any of them. read more

We had a new but enthusiastic server. Service was great. What really impressed me was the presentation of the dishes. Everything was lovely! We started with the soup of the day - potato and ham. Lovely! Then the jalapeño popper dip with seasoned chips. I wanted to lick the bowl! For those of us from AZ, I would have liked it a little spicier. The entrees were okay. I had a Cobb salad (nicely presented) and the Hubbs had the Mahi sandwich. The sandwich needed a well-toasted bun and more sauce. Overall nice. read more

Best cobb salad ever! I have ordered it at least 8 times and it has been perfect every time.

Delicious food at affordable prices! Great atmosphere and superb service! Pleasant servers!

We were part of a party of 6 for early dinner at Rik's last weekend; it was pretty good! The spot was recommended by locals in our group who'd been there. The strip shopping center, near South Hagerstown High, has seen brighter days--now containing both a Family Dollar and a Dollar Tree--so there was puhlenty of free parking out front. We put our hesitation away and plunged in. We were welcomed and seated at a very deep booth for six right in the front window of the deep and dark storefront space. The menu was appealing, and also we were also very hungry. Our friendly waiter kept us happy. My bride and I shared the duck wonton appetizer, very good, after which she got the tasty ahi tuna tacos and I got the delicious and messy Reuben sandwich, thick and juicy. My side of hand-cut fries was cold, though. Others in our group enjoyed the shrimp panko sticks and chorizo-corn dip apps, a mushroom burger, and the entree BBQ scallops/shrimp and chipotle chicken pasta. We were past eating dessert, but not past ordering it, especially when I heard they had Boston cream pie, an old favorite which I haven't seen in years. We ordered a couple pieces to go, and they were above average. The menu has a fair amount of variety and some nice surprises. We would visit Rik's in the future when we're in the area. read more

The prices are reasonable and the food has always been good. Disservice is usually good.

Food was fine. Decor was fine. Staff was really friendly. Loved sweet potato fries. Had the burger and it was over smothered with mayo.

This place had amazing food. Buffalo tater tots that were fresh made were amazing to start. Had the Chipotle chicken pasta very tasty and my buddy had the short ribs (so tender). Ended with a deep fried cheesecake, soooo good. Adam and Will at the bar were awesome. Highly recommend. read more

My wife and I stopped here a little after 6pm on the Friday before the 4th of July. She searched the area before we arrived while we were driving and found this place which gets great reviews. As you walk in, they have bar area to the right and a dining area to the left separated by a wall with windows. They were set up for social distancing and were able to accommodate us easily in the bar area. We perused the menu and made some choices. For an appetizer, we decided to try the Buffalo Chicken Dip with pretzel bites. The pretzel pieces seemed a bit crunchy which I was not expecting but the dip was really tasty and not too much Buffalo seasoning, the flavor and texture was yummy! For our entrees, my wife chose the Blackened Unicorn Tacos. The Unicorn, we discovered is a type of fish, after asking about the menu item. I decided to stick with one of my usual favorites, Arik's Meatball Sub. My wife really enjoyed the tacos and was happy to try something new as well. The meatball sub was tasty but did not stand out. The service was good and attentive, my wife ordered iced tea and they were very good about checking on us and refilling when needed. read more

Love this restaurant. Great comfort food. The staff is very funny and knowledgeable. I come here when I'm in Hagerstown.

I like this place and hopefully today was just an off day. We ordered crab cake on a croissant with sweet potato fries. The crab cake was a bit bigger than a golf ball and just so so tasting. The sweet potato fries were delicious and I love the apple butter. The server was very nice. Please fix up that bathroom it's horrible. I assume you stick to the floor because the tiles came up but it leaves you with a yucky feeling that the floor is dirty. read more

Riks delivers the goods when it comes to tasty eats. It's always hard to choose because I've liked everything I've had there! Tonight I wanted something easy, but super tasty & they did not disappoint me with this sandwich! Steak, crab, cheese, on a crispy toasted bun that's tender on the inside. The fries were delicious & crisp, which many sweet potato fries never achieve. Dipped in their apple butter there aren't words to begin to describe how tasty they are. read more

Quite a surprise finding Rik's. It is located in a strip mall one would drive by and not think to stop. That would be a mistake. There is a very eclectic menu - from crab cakes to bison burgers. As other reviewers have indicated, the exterior is very unprepossessing, but look past that and you'll have a great meal. We were passing through Hagerstown and chose this cafe for lunch based on the Yelp reviews. We sat at a high top table in the bar area, and were surprised by how extensive the bar offerings were. There were booths as well as tables in the dining room section. We had a grilled mahi sandwich and a lovely salad with a crab cake added, and all three items were delicious, well prepared, and served in a surprisingly short time considering the restaurant was very busy. A very enjoyable meal! read more

Stopped by on the way to Va from Ny. It is a local pub with solid family-style food and service. I love these places because the places tell you the beats of the local. I had a beer and mahi tocos. Good tocos though the fish was slightly dried. But no matters because family style restaurant is not about perfect food. Not a bad choice to stop by. read more

Took my mother in law and family here for Mother's Day and I'm so embarrassed. Food was horrible, the server looked pissed off the whole time as did the manager.
