THE BEST oven-fired pizza! My post here will save you a lot of time at the register asking questions. There are a few good things to know before you dine at Righteous Slice. You have to know the difference between the 2 types of pizza they make: SMALL (12") NEAPOLITAN PIZZA: The small / personal pizza size is called "Neapolitan", and has a thicker, soft, chewy crust with a slight char around the edge. If you want to Build Your Own pizza (choose your own toppings), choose this small pizza. (Also, you cannot make the small / Neapolitan 1/2 and 1/2 with different toppings.) XL NEW YORK PIZZA: The XL pizza is like 18-20" (huge!) and is called the "New York". It has a thin, crisp crust with large slices that can be folded in half. You can do each 1/2 of a different kind, but you must choose from the specialty / featured combos they offer on the menu. No changes or substitutions may be made. Their featured pizza combos are tried and true -- so just try them! Our family faves are the Forbidden Fruit and the Bee Sting. Also great to know is that they use only high quality, FRESH ingredients. (I watched them picking nice, fresh basil leaves, tearing the leaves off the stems.) So that should help you get past any initial sticker shock. This is a family-owned restaurant run by pizza aficionados who are always seeking to improve their skills and product. In Rexburg for graduation last week and the graduate recommended Righteous Slice. Went by to check it out earlier in the day and several employees stepped up to see if they could answer questions and were very helpful. The store is well laid out and welcoming. The reason this isn't a one star is because I've had it a few times and it's been pleasant. The customer service was nice but they were not aware. Me and my wife took an order to stay and they even gave us a name plate to come find us. Turns out they accidentally put our order for takeout which would've been fine if they recognized we sat there for about 45 minutes till I asked where the food was, they found it and said it would still taste good since it was under a heater. It didn't taste good. This would've been fine as well but there was no apology, no one to check why we were there until I asked, and they should've realized since they had to servers constantly walking by us. I really tried giving them the benefit of the doubt since I'd eaten there a few times, but jeez, you'd expect people in school to use their brains to keep customers happy. read more

The thing I hate about Righteous Slice is that they have ruined almost all other Pizza for me. I am never satisfied anywhere else. If you want REAL GOOD Pizza with great service and an upbeat atmosphere then come here. I have never been to a place that has consistently excellent world class pizza. This is it. I've had pizza in a few choice spots and this is up there with Big Ed's in Oak Ridge TN and the fantastic pizza joint across from our hotel in Paris, FR. I wanted to take my kids out during the first week of college. We walked in and it was packed, but I took one sniff and said "We're staying." I could tell from the first sniff this was the real deal. They were busy, and forgot our dessert pizza. They offered to pack it up for us to go and refund it as well, which was nice. We were dining lackadaisical Paris-style so we waited for it and enjoyed it when it came out. They still refunded us for it. Very nice! The only downside was not having more stomachs. Overall a great experience, worth the wait, don't go when you're in a rush and enjoy it. read more

The New York style "Zealous" pizza is truly righteous. The crust is just the right combo of crispy and chewy. It's piled with fresh tasting ham, sausage, pepperoni, red and yellow peppers, and thin-sliced red onion. No freezer burn taste here! Our family's health food enthusiast enjoyed the "Popeye," the spinach, artichoke and ricotta pizza. The veggies and super-creamy ricotta are served on a base of pesto. The salads are humungous--even the "side" salad is enough to feed two people. The quality was average. I didn't care for the syrupy balsamic dressing. But hey, a pizza place is about the pizza. Son-in-law enjoyed his salted caramel brownie milkshake, and so did his kids--they stole half of it. Service was friendly and energetic. Our large group kept our waiter and the owner trotting up and down the stairs, smiling the whole time. The piped-in music was a bit loud for a family lunch. We've been twice and both times there was a line waiting to order and get food. There's seating upstairs and down, but with all the people, it can be challenging to find a seat. Pizza is thin and fired hot and fast. Very fun and different flavor combinations. Fig and blue cheese was wonderful. A busy Saturday night had me expecting to wait a while for our food, so that's not a problem. Upstairs seating was full and very loud - expected for a college town. One star off because our 4 pizzas got to us at one time, but could tell they waited till all 4 were done. One was piping hot and just out of the oven while one was room temp and cheese was no longer melty. Taking them to people as they come out would be optimal (assuming they waited to bring them all up). I also added arugula to mine and it wasn't on my pizza. I moved to Rexburg about 8 months ago from NY and one of the things I've been homesick for most is pizza. Real pizza. While nothing quite compares to a NYC slice- this is BY far the closest thing you'll ever get. Best pizza in Idaho! They've mastered the crust. Crisp, foldable, has that airy sensation to it. The smell alone nearly brought tears to my eyes you just don't find crust like this in any of your big chain pizza places. You may think I'm crazy but if you're from the metro Ny area- you'll get what I mean. Only had a plain slice here but I will certainly return and try one of their pies. read more

Both times I have been there, the bottom of my pizza had been charred and black. The pizza itself doesn't have a lot of flavor to it and crust isn't thick enough to hold itself up, ie every time I went to take a bite, it flopped over and all the toppings fell off. There 900 degrees in 90 seconds is the reason that I believe their pizza is always burnt and bad. If that wasn't bad enough, the price is far too high. $12 for a personal pizza that is bad enough, but for a burnt, flavorless pizza, it's outrageous. Save yourself some time and go to Pizza Pie Cafe, it's cheaper and the quality is much better. Edit: Went back because they gave us a free dessert pizza for the bad experience we had last time, the dessert pizza was good! They also offered me a free pizza for burnt pizza I've had that I mentioned above. I'd give them a 5 star for their manager Cheryl who took care of us. The pizza is still not up to my liking but Cheryl mentioned that this is just the way the pizza is cooked, so I'll give it a 3 star. The dessert pizza was also 4 star quality.
