This is a neat little place, really not much else in town too eat as it's so small. But it feel a bit old timey. Interesting history on walls and some tables. The steak fingers were real good! The burger was lacking if you ask me(a bit thin and a bit dry, not the best meat flavor), good bacon on it though! If I get another burger and it happens to be better I'll update. Fries average and tots were good. To be fair it was our first time and only been there once so far. The fry sauce was also on point. The fry sauce and Tots are similar to Big Juds if your looking for a comparison. Looking forward to going back for steak fingers and fried mushrooms! The service was average. read more

Cute atmosphere. Loved the diner feel. The BLT was amazing. It had a buttery taste to the bread. All the Pattie's for the hamburgers were burnt so it was kind of disappointing. The other flavor of the triple bypass was good though. Also we got home and two of our burgers were missing. We had a fun experience as a large group and were really taken care of. The portions were perfect sized. I had eaten here about two years ago when I came to bring my daughter to school at BYU-Idaho. It was ok then but they have made some major changes and for the better. I like how everything is a combo now. I will be bringing my family back here when we come up to visit again. My wife loved the new decor. I could care less about that kind of stuff. I just require good food and drinks with free refills. I will admit, it did look nice and I noticed the decor myself. Which is huge because I DO NOT notice stuff like that, ever. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. We thought maybe the restaurant was under new ownership. My wife asked and learned that it was just under new management and has been for a little over a year. The manager was very accommodating to us. She truly seemed as if she liked being there with kids. She was patient and kind while teaching them. It was refreshing to see, there are not a lot of places like this little joint anymore. The staff is mostly made up of high school kids who working their first job. Bravo to the owners for supporting the kids in this tiny town like that. Also- The manager gave our younger kids their choice of coloring books, crayons, and entertained them a bit too. We got to eat a meal in peace after a long road trip. It felt as if we had come home to grandmother's house, but she was not old enough to be anyones grandmother and was much younger than me. I'm old. The place just had a very inviting atmosphere. If you have been here before in the past, try it again. It was worth every penny. I threw extra tips in the tip container when I left because I was so pleased. I say it again, bravo! Old fashioned burgers with a classic diner feel. They did the lettuce wrap right with ample jalapenos and thick bacon. It was a masterpiece. Went here for dinner. Place is clean but the service was something to be desired. Two burgers, two fries, a burger patty, and kids meal. Half the food came out together. Obviously the kids chicken was microwaved as it was extremely hot, they served a burger patty and fries with no fork. Gee I know my son is a teenager but he's not a Neanderthal, who eats a bare patty without a fork? I guess they plastic ware isn't a thing there or they are too lazy to wash dishes? We watched the couple after us get their entire meal before the second half of the food was brought to us. We watched the cashier look dumbfounded when my husbands burger came out. She didn't know where it went. A few minutes later the last burger came out (the special-a cheeseburger). By this time my kids had finished their food and I was irritated that simple customer service skills were so lacking. The cashier/server walked like a sloth, as if it was just too much trouble to walk across the small dining room to deliver the food. I don't mind waiting for food but I certainly do not want to wait while our food order is not important enough to be cooked together. Who serves half a table food? It's rude. As a former manager in food service this is a big no no. Also, it was obvious they didn't have their hood system on as the whole dinning room smelled like hot oil. Maybe their service is better when it's not run by incompetent high schoolers during the school year but who really knows. All I know is this place is raved about by long time locals but they obviously have no clue about customer service. Also, we watched two parties leave and nobody actually cleaned or biased the table. No thanks, I'll take my hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Did a random search for restaurants near Rexburg, Idaho on our way up into Montana. Found this gem and glad we did. I'm not one to give 5 stars as there is always room for improvement with any place. The serving size is amazing and no way we could eat it all! Hubs says it's dinner at the hotel. It was my mistake that I didn't ask for my meat well done but they graciously took it back and cooked it longer without issue. Next time we are in this area visiting family, they are coming with us. Hubs didn't think he could finish off a Triple Bypass burger, but next time he will come hungry. Great staff, very clean and a laid back vibe! read more

Came for the first time and it literally took us over an hour to get our food. When we did, the fries were obviously under cooked they were so heavy from oil! The burger was really dry and tasted kind of burnt. Fried mushrooms were so greasy and gross, again from not enough time cooking. Super disappointed. Not worth the trip at all. I had heard so many good things about this place, so on the way back from a day of swimming with friends, we decided to stop here and give it a try. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a group of 9 and it must have overwhelmed them because our food took a very long time to come out and they forgot about a few things we ordered so we had to go in and ask for them again. The food was all delicious, but inconsistent- some fries cooked well done and some underdone. Despite those things, I think it's worth another try. read more

This place is a nice find, a hidden gem just a bit off the beaten path in Sugar City, Idaho. They feature a variety of fun burger options, fried foods, and shakes, but their special niche is a truly home style flavor that you can't get from a chain restaurant. My first bite tasted just like a burger I would have made myself at home. Many places call themselves "home style," but these guys really are. I tried the jalapeño burger and it surprised me on several levels. The bacon was very thick and had a nice smokey flavor. The jalapeños were fresh--not pickled--giving the burger a delicious and unexpected kick in the pants. I went with the tater tots (good & plentiful), but their fresh cut fries looked good too. I was also surprised by the quality of the bun...this wasn't the typical excuse for a bun you get at a fast good joint. It was fresh, tasty, and actually added to the meal. The restaurant itself was very clean and bright. I strongly recommend you give this place a try--I know I'm going back soon. I'm still kicking myself for not trying the huckleberry milkshake (darned New Years resolution). read more

So I'm a little annoyed here about a month ago we came here to eat yet again and I specifically asked the girl at the counter that I wanted my bacon extra crispy that means in dummy terms to cook it longer so that's its almost crispy or crispy I don't like My bacon chewy and half cooked that's what it was. I think from one cook to another someone needs to show there cook how to cook crispy bacon. I think instead of writing crispy bacon she wrote extra bacon I didn't want extra bacon on my burger not that I'm really complaining too much because I love bacon but sure not chewy. If I want it chewy I'd eat it raw! Anyways the service wasn't quite up to par either because while we were waiting for our food the girl at the counter was talking to all her little friends and let our food sit there for a good 5 - 10 minutes and get cold. Stop talking to your stupid little friends or the owner about stuff and treat your customers like they want to be treated. She never came back to check on us once the whole time we sat there didn't bother to ask if she could refill our water or a dang thing. Kept socializing with her precious little friends and totally ignored us I'm not leaving a tip if I get ignored and food comes out cold and with half cooked bacon. Finally as we're ready to leave she finally asked as we're getting up to walk out if we needed anything we just ignored her and walked out. Don't know if I'll come to dine in here evet again for a while. Nice small town burger joint, but nothing to be impressed with. They were busy with the lunch rush when we were there. Maybe 20 people and the two workers couldn't keep up. Chicken sandwich was well cooked and a nice size real chicken breast. Fries were made fresh from local potatoes but I preferred the tots. Not sure there is a reason to go back. We saw many great reviews about this place and expected a more formal setting either way we decided to eat there. I got the bacon burger and my fiancé got the jalapeño burger. They didn't take the seeds out of the jalapeño and my fiancé was dying when we went for something to drink it tasted like mold. The fries were okay but they tasted like they were old. I don't give out 5 stars very often, but I'm a sucker for hole-in-the-wall small town restaurants and this has to be on of the best ones I've been to. It's pretty small, but the atmosphere is still fun. We seated quickly and fed just as quick. I got the BBQ Bacon burger and it was delicious! Their fries are delicious and I'm assuming that it is because I saw them hand cutting them so they were fresh. If you are looking to get something outside of Rexburg and don't want to drive all the way to Idaho Falls, then I would highly recommend Ole's. We'll definitely be making regular returns. read more

The service was a bit slow, even though there were 3 people working and no other guests. It took 10 minutes to get our shakes and another 10 for our burgers. The fries were cooked, but not enough to get crisp at all and they had no salt. Fortunately they were willing to swap them to tots which were a bit better.
